Doing a backlog of Australian caches. This area is simply stunning! The heat was okay when we were here. We also saw some kangaroos. after some walking and seeing the landscape a bit less barren then expected, the rain started. A drizzle at first, but when we were in the garden of eden, it poured. While rain is not so nice normally, it led to awesome sights of waterfalls and an almost surreal experience of a lot of rain in the desert.
Went to Cotterills Lookout and the Garden of Eden. It was cool when we started (19 deg) but much warmer when we ended (26). Lots of great views and surprise discoveries. Found one shy lizard (could be the ring-tailed dragon, though it was too skittish to coax out of hiding far enough to tell). No sneks, one or two birds, but a lot of ants. Got a pic at the trailhead coords with TD99. TFTEC
Not our first time to this wonderful hike and hopefully not the last. What a grand experience! Perfect conditions today, at 18 degrees this is really so much easier than at 35 degrees when we were here last.Answers have been sent to the owner and hopefully all good. Thanks for showing again and greetings from Germany!
Freddo sent Sallymander to the Northern Territory and told her to find an earthcache. First stop was King's Canyon and the rim walk. Earthscience answers submitted to the cache owner for approval. Amazing location. Thanks for the wonderful geology lesson.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. Came to complete the rim walk and collected the information as I went. Amazing place. Answers sent. Tftc
I took the rim walk at sun rise this morning. It was so spectacular as the sun came up and turned the rocks bright red. What a memorable walk. Thanks for all of the information about how this area formed over the millions of years. My answers have been sent. Greetings from San Francisco, California and thanks for the EarthCache!
Found this over 12 months back but forgot to drop in a fitting picture. Second visit to here and will come back for more as its such a breathtaking area. Love the GOE.
Beautiful Canyon. Stunning walk. A lot for a little 7yo legs but we made it. TFTC
On a two-week tourist trip in Australia. I was the only geocacher in the group. Today was a hiking trip at Kings Canyon. We walked a 6 km round. It took a few hours. When we set off in the morning, the temperature was 27 degrees. At the end of the hike, the temperature was 33 degrees. The pace was calm enough that I could collect the necessary information for Earth caches along the way. Thanks! Greetings from Finland!
It was at this location that I rested after the canyon rim walk, hot and bothered. But wow! what a fabulous walk, and well worth doing once you get up to the rim. So many marvelous wonders, that you just have to take the time to stop and enjoy everything. We loved the many fabulous trees that survive up here. Take your time with this walk and enjoy. thanks for placing this earth cache
We really enjoyed the rim walk: Spectacular, ever changing scenery, fascinating geology, superb views! Thanks also for this cache!
Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. Started on the 17th September in Cairns. Our plan is driving.along the eastcoast down. Then in the south on to Adelaide and from there ending the 31th October in Alice Springs.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case Team sissifalke, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.
On my roundtrip along Australia with Oopie we are douing always some caches.Today we ware on the way in Kings Canyon and we did a few nice caches. So we make the answers together and with your permission Oopie wil sent the answers.CO thanks for bringing us on this nice place and make this cache.
Found by The Empire + HAs two of us embarked on the Kings Canyon Rim Walk, it quickly became apparent that the journey would be an individual experience for each of us. H faced some challenges along the way, while I forged ahead with a quicker pace.H's journey was marked by determination and resilience. The initial climb up Heartbreak Hill presented a formidable obstacle, but H tackled it with unwavering spirit. Every step was a testament to their determination, and the reward of the unfolding landscape provided motivation to press on. The Garden of Eden, with its lushness in the midst of the desert, was a well-deserved respite. As for me, the walk became an opportunity to embrace the trail's challenges and immerse myself in the surrounding beauty. The captivating views of Kings Canyon, the awe-inspiring sandstone formations, and the dramatic drop-offs into the canyon offered a constant source of wonder. I relished the sense of accomplishment with each step. While we each had our unique experience on the Kings Canyon Rim Walk, we shared a deep appreciation for the incredible natural world around us. H's determination and my enthusiasm blended together to make the journey a memorable and meaningful one, reminding us that the adventure itself is enriched by the differences in our individual experiences. Logging with permission. Thanks for the earthcache Team sissifalke.- MEarthcache #412@empiregeocaching
As we continued our tour of the Red Center, we picked up a few caches at Kings Canyon. Thank you again to Team sissifalke for setting up this earth cache as well! Really enjoyed the views as we hiked our way around the canyon. TFTC from Tennessee, USA
What an amazing place! We're so glad we came and did the entire walk even though we were pretty wrecked by the time we got back to our caravan. So many amazing sights that we couldn't stop taking photos. Luckily we took one of ourselves before we started the climb up Heartbreak Hill [:p]

Loved walking around the canyon today. It brought back memories of when I was a kid walking through here. I definitely appreciate it more now being an adult! Answers have been sent to the owner!
Today we decided to walk Kathleen Springs and Kings Canyon with all the little offshoots before heading to start the mereenie loop track.
We timed Kathleen Springs track perfectly as a tour group was just leaving the Springs as we arrived. The Kings Canyon walk was getting pretty warm near the end but it has such amazing geology.
Some interesting signs to read on this rim walk. Am not sure if I would have trusted the old bridge held together with wire.
Thanks for putting this earth cache together

Today we hiked the Kings Canyon Rim Walk. It was very impressive with all the red rocks and steep cliffs.
Together with my favorite geocacher Milonguera we traveled to Australia We went to Melbourne via Singapore and from there we explore the south, the center and the east coast.
We walked around Melbourne and had a nice meet & greet event. Than we visited Philip Island with the pinguins and the Great Ocean Road. We fed and petted kangaroos visited the koalas and continued north via Coober Pedy to Alice Springs. We hiked around the impressive Uluru and through the beautiful Kata Tjuta and breathtaking Kings Canyon.
**Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for showing the location and for hiding the cache. You should come to Berlin in Germany to find a lot of interesting geocaches, visit lost places in the surrounding Brandenburg and meet nice people at many events.
I wish you a lot of fun and great adventures while searching for the next geocache!**
Thanks for the cache!

Continuing our trip from Melbourne to Darwin and back, we are spending a few days at Kings Canyon doing some walking including the famous Kings Canyon Rim Walk, also enjoyed a helicopter ride over the surrounding areas.
Once we recovered from the starting climb up the hill the rest was very enjoyable, and what about the views, spectacular!

This was the first in a series of caches in this area. This cache s actually the Grand Tour of the location and hence is also the last in the series. Climbing the first 500 steps to get 100 m higher was a breeze in today's cold condition. The views on the way up were spectacular but wait there was more as each and every corner meant another magnification landscape was present to us. This is an ancient wonderland, a land that time well did not forget but has left eroded and date stamped along the way.
It is not every day you get to walk around on top of something 440 million years old.

As Suetrefoil sent in a photo of us on the stairs at Kings Canyon I will post another of myself. This was a great trek over the canyon, one I am glad to have completed. Thanks for the opportunity to do this cache.
I’m so glad I took up the challenge of the rim walk- our group all found all the effort so worthwhile. The views are amazing. Have added a photo of us on the stairs down the valley we look more relaxed than we did after climbing the stairs on the other side! TFTC

Sir_spectre and I went on a long overdue holiday to the Northern Territory. We had some great experiences and saw some amazing natural wonders. Not all went to plan - covid closures, flood effected roads, renovations, hot weather, some car troubles and not forgetting the huge jump in fuel costs
Any caches that needed repairs were fixed and numeous logs were replaced or added too.

Did the walk through Kings Canyon with Mogni. Took 4.5 hours including doing the side trips to the lookouts and a lunch stop. Glad we left early since it was a 36 degree day and took stacks of photos. Did all the earthcaches along the way, this was one of them. All where found to be interesting and rock licking lessons learnt.
Mogni and myself went to the Northern Territory for a 10 day holiday. We drove 5478 km's in those 10 days. The plan was to go up the Sturt highway and then go via Ayers Rock, King's Canyon and then through to Alice Springs stopping at the gorges/chasm/gaps along the way. As you can expect nothing goes to plan. Day 1 Adelaide to Cooper Pedy, made it just before the Roxby Downs turn off and blow the side wall on the tire of the 4x4, 193 km detour just to get a tire and even then it was the second tire place that had the tire the correct size. We had camels come in to the campsite in Erldunda Roadhouse, they even left hoof prints 1/2 a foot from the tent, at King's Canyon we had dingo's come through the camp ground both nights we where there and at Alice springs we had a mouse move in under the tent in their campground. Some of the aboriginal towns we passed where in lock down because of covid 19 so no going in to get fuel there, that changed some plans. The floods where way worse up in Northern Territory than i realized. Some creeks/rivers i could see the debris over 2 meters from the river bed and down one 4x4 track it washed the road away completely, the hole was 3/4 the length of the 4x4 and over 6 foot deep. The temp was 33 to 36 for 9 of the 10 days and finally cooled down for the drive home. We got 7 different caches types in the N.T. plus every different cache size. It was a good trip but not the one we planned. To many of the roads in the N.T. where damaged and not repaired ( still closed ) so that cancelled plan A but that's just a excuse to come back isn't it. Come back and see what you missed last time when the roads are fixed. We came with 19 regular " geocaching size " containers and a milk crate of small containers by day 7 all the regulars where used as replaced caches and by day 8 the smalls where gone. It was the UV rays a lot more than the floods that killed the caches and almost all the log books where saved, the micro containers seemed to have constantly full log sheets so they where replaced too.

Kings Canyon is awesome. We did the rim walk today and survived. It was not nearly as strenuous as I expected. I have submitted my answers and hope they are OK.
With overseas travel locked away for the foreseeable future, it was time to tick off some Aussie bucket list locations. After a few days at Yulara visiting the Uluru and Kata Juta, today was the day to visit Kings Canyon.
To make the most of the day, we started early - but only after scraping the frost from the windscreen. From the carpark, the climb up Heartbreak Hill certainly warmed us up. We took our time on the circuit, enjoying the scenery. This country and the geology on display is simply breathless. Most worthy of the visit and the effort to get here.
Answers sent to the CO. Sorry for the late log.

We hit the dirt road to KC last night after a day in the Ranges. Asked about a room and none were available. No problems, a warm night in the roof top tent. After enquiring why there were no rooms, we were told that no one wanted to come here to work!!
The servo opened at 8am. We fueled up and got a coffee, dawdling along. Then I saw the sign - rim walk closes at 9am on hot days. We need to hustle.
We climbed heart break hill and half way to the garden of eden the rangers were walking towards us making sure there were no late comers.
The cliffs, the geology and the heat here are truly magical (skip that, maybe not the heat.. haha).

Three weeks on the road for a family holiday to Alice Springs, Ayers Rock and Kings Canyon amongst other cool destinations had us traveling all over the place. We had a great time and the weather was extremely hot with bushfires that actually prevented us from going to some destinations.
Today we spent the day at Kings Canyon, doing the long hike. The start up the 'stairs' was very steep but from there it wasn't too bad, even in the extreme heat. Such an amazing place with so much to see and explore.
Thanks for the Earthcache.

Finally getting around to logging all my finds since this pandemic began.
What an extraordinary site! I have dreamed and dreamed of this place since I was a child. I’ve heard many stories from Aunties and Uncles about this sacred place. It was a dream come true to visit here! We left quite late for Kings Canyon pretty late in the day but decided to stop for the caches on the way there. What is time????

This was my first time to this area for my canadian muggle mate also, so we decided to tour kings canyon before setting eyes on the rock.
Arriving about two pm, we decided to instead do the creek walk first, which was suprisingly short, yet sweet.
So sometime around three set up and off for the rim walk. Engaging the company of an elderly malaysian woman, we proceeded at a leisurely pace through the sites, various lookouts and a waterhole, where we basked in it's splendour a good while before returning to the trail.
We arrived back to the carpark sometime before six, in time to see a sunset not so far away.
Thank you for creating an earthcache, teaching me about these strange rock formations.

Greetings from Scotland. We took a trip out to Kings Canyon from Yulara today. We walked the Rim Walk and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were in a group. The leader was not for hanging around and, as a result, all EC answers and photographs were gathered in a bit of a rush. We completed the walk in 3hrs 9 minutes. We gathered the answer for this one at the end of our walk. We thoroughly enjoyed it but we did feel the pace was a little fast for us. We realise the guide has a schedule to keep to and wanted us down before it got too hot. We are so pleased we both did the rim walk. Our answers have been sent to the CO.

I'm late in logging this cache as I was in the NT during February completing a university placement - I was rushed back to Melbourne and didn't get around to logging until now due to all the covid craziness.
I love this place! I first came here 10 years ago on an outback adventure. I returned this year and it was even more amazing than my memory of the place, which is usually the opposite! Unfortunately it was extremely hot when we arrived; 48 degrees according to the rangers standing guard at the gate. We were told it was closed but if we wanted we could return to climb heart attack hill to watch sunset. So we did that. There wasn't another soul there, it was still extremely hot, but it was magical. We didn't get to go the whole way around because it would have been getting dark and the rangers would probably not turn a blind eye to that. But we got up to the rim and saw the garden and domes from a distance. I hope that is sufficient to log this earth cache.
So happy there is an earth cache here to mark the occasion. Thanks for the cache!
I have attached a pic of me on the way up heart attack hill; it was too dark for photos with my vintage iphone by the time we reached the top of the rim. Answers sent to CO.

TftEC on this sunny day! We started early and well prepared with our fly nets. We „deciphered“ the photo point coords as best as we could. Thx for bringing us here
I found this earthcache after beautiful but hot hike in the Kings Canyon. We hiked the Kings Canyon rim walk with Wayoutback Astualian Safari, where we started the hike at around 6 am and finished the hike around 10 am.
Back home again after an amazing trip to Australia and New Zealand. Time to update my geocache finds! The rimwalk was one of the highlights of our trip to the outback. Early rise, breakfast while it is still dark and start with this exhausting climb. But absolutely worth it! Thanks for making this an earthcache!
Round the world trip Almost three month already! Will spend some days in the northern territory. A once in a lifetime experience! Thanks for bringing up this cache!
Thanks for hiding and many greetings from Leipzig/Germany!

Set off just on sunrise to do The Rim Walk with our group. This cache was excellent as it allowed you to learn so much about how what we see today was formed.
A faviourite point added for putting this cache out there and the way it was set up.
Thanks Team sissifalke

TFTC. We did the rim walk, what an achievement. On our epic journey from Brisbane via Darwin, through to Uluru, Adelaide and the Great Ocean Road and then back home. Our earthcache stats are certainly increasing on this trip.
We were with a group of people and a very informative guide visiting this place. I think the start was quite tough and the route around became very hot during the tour even though we started at 7 in the morning. TFTC.

Wow, walking the Kings Canyon Rim Walk is hard work, but a really interesting walk.
We (my wife and I) where a part of a group of people, where only we where geocachers.
It was a nice walk and very hot.

Something about the day:
*================================================================================
From october 16 to november 6 2019, my wife (lp.dk) and I visited Australia for the first time.
After a flight of more than 20 hours, we landed in Darwin. After 2 nights in the city we continued in a rented car first towards Kakadu National Park and later towards Alice Springs.
In Alice Springs we were picked up in an off-road bus and went on a 3-day trip into the wilderness, with overnight stays in a tent close to Uluru.
Back in Alice Springs we drove all the way to Adelaide, from where we flew to Sydney, where we visited our son who has settled there.
After 5 days in the city, we flew back to Singapore, which we visited for 2 days before the final flight back to Copenhagen.
In total, the trip lasted just over 3 weeks.
On the trip we would like to find / visit as many Earth caches, Virtual and Webcams as possible, but also the other kinds of caches when possible.

Touring from Tasmania and and really enjoyed walking the Canyon rim. Such a beautiful place with many amazing and sights to see
22 days vacation in Australia, a big round trip around the red continent. Adelaide & Kangaroo Island, Darwin & Kakadu National Park & Yellow Waters, Alice Springs & Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Port Douglas & Rainforest & Great Barrier Reef, Hamilton Island, Blue Mountains, Sydney - what a trip! It's been great, it's been exhausting, it's given us so many impressions of this country that we'll need another few weeks to process all of these.
Of course there were also a lot of geocaches along our track and we tried to find them whenever they were (more or less ) on our path. Due to the amount of places, impressions and geocaches I'm unfortunately able to write a detailled log for each of them, but we appreciated every single one of them.
Thanks Team sissifalke for placing and maintaining this cache!

Completed while doing the rim walk, entire walk took about 3 hours. Absolutely amazing experience. TFTC
Jesswrigley and I travelled to the Northern Territory from Adelaide for a 2.5 weeks road trip holiday. We took my jeep through Port Augusta, Woomera, Roxby Downs, Andamooka, and then drove the Oodnadatta Track via Coward Springs, William Creek (including a Lake Eyre scenic flight), Oodnadatta, and Marla. It was then onwards to visit Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tju?a (Olgas), Kings Canyon, and then drove the Red Centre Way aka. Mereenie Loop Road to see the Tjoritja (West MacDonell Ranges), calling in to see the various highlights. We then stayed a few nights in Alice Springs, and included a day trip to see the East MacDonell Ranges. It was then time to turn around to head to South Australia, and in doing so, we visited the Palm Valley, and made the 4WD detour through Owen Springs Reserve (an excellent shortcut that wasn’t too technically difficult), calling into the Henbury Craters, and the Lambert Centre of Australia. Our final stop was Coober Pedy, and we really enjoyed checking out the various dugouts and mines.
Today, we did the main hike around Kings Canyon, and it was absolutely awesome. We left in the early part of the morning, which allowed us to have nice temperatures going through the secret cities sections. This hike had so many experiences, that I can see why it is so popular. We enjoyed the lookouts and inner gorge walks. A great day out, and glad to have had the geocaching EarthCaches to help guide us and teach a few things.
The lost city section was truly breathtaking, and the geology history is amazing. We really enjoyed this initial section before moving on to the top and gorge. Thanks heaps Team sissifalke. Answers collected and sent.

This was one superb walk/hike that made us forget all inconveniences to get here. No surprise the hike is so crowded. Hope, I found the correct responses to the questions. TFTC!
Get up very early to form a small group accompanied by a local guide and discover the red center. The road is long, very long , straight lines endlessly, service stations that make coffee shops restaurants from time to time. You have to reach the red center which is at 400 km ..... even if our 4x4 bus is driving fast ... here we can drive at 130 km / h on two-lane roads. is not the same in France: these roads would be limited to only 80 km / h 1st day: we roll, we roll ... a stop to collect wood for the fire tonight ... and we finally Attila in sight . We will continue our journey to Uluru where we will appreciate a walk that will make us discover this huge rock planted there in the middle of nowhere. We will end our day with a glass of sparkling (tradition of the place) in front of a beautiful sunset. The rock takes different colors ... ma-gni-fic! And then, it's time to take possession of our camp. When we arrive, wow !!! A beautiful table awaits us .... even the glasses are present. Small talk time in front of a huge fire and the day will end with a succulent meal. 2nd day ; after a night where my temperature reaches 4 ° (brrr !!), get up at 4:45 to go to see the sunrise on the same rock then direction Ayers Rocks, its rocks, its red earth, its valleys .... beautiful landscapes under an intensely blue sky ... and a temperature close to 30 °! Change of camp for this new night or we are cut off from the world ... no internet! but instead, a big fire or simmering a great meal. 3rd day: get up at 5am ... we go to King Canyon where the beautiful ride will last four hours. Breathtaking scenery or the slightest misstep can be fatal. And then, we have to join Alice Sping or our plane will take us tomorrow morning to Darwin. Thank you to all the posers for these tradis, these earths and virtual that take our steps to great adventures.

Visited on 3/7/19, forgot to send answers until now as I didn’t have internet at the time... Kings Canyon was spectacular. Thanks for the cache.
Great walk around the rim. We did it in counter clock wise direction which had the advantage that we did not need to overtake anyone, or be overtaken. It took us about 4 hours with all the stops, enjoying the great views.

We traveled through Northern Territory for four weeks. We started the journey in Alice Springs and drove to Uluru, Kata Tjuta and then to Kings Canyon and further on to the north. At Kings Canyon we walked the Rim Walk and found this EC. TFTC!

On our 3 weeks tour round Australia together with SuFe2013 we‘ve travelled from Yulara to Kings Canyon and the highlight was our 3 hours rim walk to explore the area in its full beauty.
So we had also the chance to do the nice Earth Cache about Kings Canyon.

We came just to visit Uluru, but someone told us about Kings Canyon and we did not regret that we changed our travel plans for this experience. A great spot and really worth the way. Unfortunately we started the walk around noon, but at least it is not summer. Anyway, used a bit of water (actually, quite a lot) and had great fun at this special place. Thanks for the information provided on the cache page.
Very nice earthcache, cause it includes the entire rim walk. Did this during sunrise. It was perfect.

Thank you for this Earthcache. We completed the rim walk and visited the Garden of Eden. Fabulous location. I’m glad it was cool today. Summer here would be a very different experience!

Our last cache to complete for the day on a great walk around Kings Canyon. It is an amazing walk that has the landscape changing, with great views of the cliffs. Great to see that there isn't too many safety barriers and they have left it very natural.
Thanks again,
