Nice walk up to the top. Great view of the water and of the flag pole up the hill. Beautiful view and nice find. View is definitely worth a look.
We have spent the day exploring Russell as part of a family holiday. A quick find on our way from the beach back to the main street of town. The log was very hard to extract. TFTC.
That's some ziggy pathway. What a view! We waited out today's rain to come to town to find this and keep our streak alive TFTC SL and RAF
Despite the rainy day, the sun came out in the late afternoon which meant it was time to go ashore and keep our streak going. Maybe just one today. Good climb for today
.2258. I had just enough time to make the journey to GZ before needing to head back to the wharf. Pleased to make a quick find. TFTC(with a view and a seat).
Visiting from Nova Scotia Canada, cruising on HAL Volendam around NZ. Very much enjoying the Russell Island Thanks
The seat series has been fun - another seat and another beautiful view. Lovely homes up here, one day I may return to retire here!! TFTC
Greetings, Fullofun! MrMogger and I are in back in New Zealand floating around on the Azamara Onward ship. On this adventure we completely missed January 31 and got to experience February 2 twice. Then we skipped February 11 and watched the Super Bowl on February 12! Craziness. Today were back in the Bay of Islands exploring other parts of the island. We were last here on 31 January 2019. But this geocache had a smell attached to it, guarding the cache. Why do we call ourselves unimoggers? Because we own a dilapidated model 411 Unimog, 1964 version.Weather in Bay of Islands Whangarora Ward: 76F, sunnyFootwear: Sneakers Equipment: walking Took nothing but pictures, left one of our cards and a FTF magazine subscription card , signed log and posted pictures, plus were having our traveling TB, some other TBs, and our Prague backpack visit this cache, T4T$;-)Last found: 2024, November 19 Maps: Cachlys Google Standard Maps Cache condition: GreatAnimals besides birds and other flying objects seen on the way to this cache: none, really Thanks, Fullofun, for placing Mary's Seat (Bay of Islands), a Traditional cache. This was unimoggers cache find #23339 @ 12:59:14 PM GMT+13 today. Famous quotes from MiniMoggerI I dont know, mom. Im just a YouTube mechanic. Famous quotes from MiniMoggerII Oh, mom. Youre so silly. We take pictures of every cache we find just for the memories. We never post a picture of the geocache, unless it needs assistance or its obvious what or where it is, but we try to remember to post a picture of the log plus a screenshot indicating our distance from the cache. Happy Trails! MrsMogger and MrMogger
got it! didnt seem like it had been hidden right when we found it so we put it on the other side
Find #672Found while walking Te Araroa - new Zealands long pathway from Cape Reinga to Bluff. Thank you to all the cache owners who place and maintain these caches, and thank you to all the people who help me and others on the wayQuick find here, cache is in excellent condition. Love this seat series, I've never appreciated seats so much untill being on my feet all day
Thanks for your amazing cache. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches. A great 4 wheel trip with Fisha1288. Yep.. She was on tow!!! Up the zig zag walkway. Cheers, Cympull.
An easy find and a beautiful view (as expected), which was great because it was slightly harder to put back with a few locals around. Tftc
Our last cache in Russell, and probably the last in NZ before returning to the UK. Time for a cool one down in town.

Resuming my walkabout on a wet and windy day, after a kind local gave me a lift back to Russell from Tapeka.
An easy find at a deserted GZ.
Signed the log and carefully replaced the cache as found.

Stopped off in lovely Russell after trip round Bay of Islands. Thank goodness this was an easy find after this steep climb. The view was well worth it. Favourite point.
Beautiful bench! I think I'd like to come back as a bench when the time comes. So peaceful and quiet up here, and amazing views. SL TFTC
Easy find thanks to a generous hint and a reasonably-sized container. Logbook was a bit difficult to extract simply because it fitted the container so well. Good view on a sunny day. Thanks!
Coincidentally, we were staying in this street while visiting Russell. The cache location on the map was a landmark I used to navigate to our accommodation.
We never tried to drive up or down the steep road because it looked like it might not get us where we wanted to be. Instead, we took the longer way around on a broader road.
Anyway, after a morning of rain the afternoon cleared up nicely, and we opted to explore the area a bit again, picking up a few caches along the way. This was the first for the afternoon, with a few more to follow before dinner.

A nice quick find, and a nice view of the bay from the top. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I are off on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland to visit family. Up to Northland for a few days, cruised around Russell and Piahia today. Another great day, though a bit windy with squally showers.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. .

Loved the peppermint colored seat which looks fun. Its a shame it's not still pink tho. Thanks Fullofun.
Quite steep to go up there. Happy to find a seat and a cache.

Day 3 of a little tiki tour with Mrs NZ Travellers and today was explore Russell day. Quick car ferry over - they are sooooo efficient - and we were on a roll.
Was here 23 April 2014 and had a DNF at that time so was keen to see if I could turn the frown upside down. Noting the recent finds I was hopeful. Dodged some local tradies in the area for a swoop in.
Thankfully found as soon as I walked up to GZ….woohoo! Quick sign whilst sitting on the bench, returned and it’s onto the next.
Thanks for the cache.

Over for the morning. Awesome for bike around. Will have to come back another time for the rest. All good here. Cheers
Second find for the day. Had to wait for 3 groups of people to move on before making the find. Feeling a bit conspicuous up here. TFTC Fullofun.
What a steep walk up! We were grateful for the seat, and we loved the colourful nature of it. Appreciated the good size cache but decided not to leave the TBs travelling with us as it doesn't seem to be found often. A shame as great views from here too. Now for the steep walk down.. Tftc
Weird experience here. Guy across the road sent me down the track. Elderly lady in the house next to the power poll asked me what I was looking for. Forced to give up the hunt!
We took a ferry across from Paihia and spent the day wandering around Russell. We DNF'd this one back in 2010, so it was nice to be able to sign it off today. Quite a warm day to climb up the hill! Took the zig zag path back down. TFTC
A well deserved holiday break for Mr and Mrs NZTravellers saw us heading up to Russell with Geodog in tow.
Today started wet and miserable and Geodog was a bit restless so as there was a break in the weather we headed out to do a walk around the town centre and attempt a few caches.
This cache was JUST down the road from where we were staying and this was the last cache of the day as the weather was starting to turn again.
Mrs NZT popped out of the car while Mr NZT did a U turn and had the car headed for home after Mrs NZT made the find.

Off on a sunny Sunday search with Toryn83 enjoying a scenic drive and introducing him to the magic of geocaching.
Ants were enjoying the shelter.

(# 7175) On a trip to retrieve the Auckland/Northland Geotour caches (TMGT/PWGT). Day 3 was from Kaitaia to Paihia. A good day out with the weather being nice and warm (and dry). Walked up the hill in the fading light. A quick find but had a little trouble taking the lid off (yes I knew it was not a screw top). Had to get A TOTT to help loosen the top. Thanks for bringing me here.
What a climb!! We were so glad to have a rest at the top haha!
Left a bug for the next finder

291. Quick park and find for Miss 11. The tin is opened by pulling the lid off, not screwing it. TFTC.
Oliver aged 6 found it and managed to open it with his strength. Lovely spot to sit and rest
#10,566. Today I am heading north on a 2 day trip to try and pick up most of the northern geotour caches. Its another super hot summers day. After doing the nearby TMGT cache I headed up the hill to visit Mary's seat. Great views from up here across the harbour. Nice quick find. Signed the logbook and returned the cache where found. Thanks Fullofun for hiding it here.
It was easy to locate the cache (well, if you disregard the walk up the hill) but I was unable to open the actual container. I have pictures if required. Perhaps I was doing it wrong?
Grabbed this one on the way to long beach. Glad to find this one on the second try.

A quick one while know ds played at playground below. A bit of a struggle to get outer container open though.
Didn’t take long to locate the cache but couldn’t get the lid off. Took a photo of the cache if needed
We couldn't even find the seat. I thought it would have been easy to spot. Has it been moved. Saw all the water being stored. There was a new power pole close by buy there was no sign of the cache.
We zigged and zagged and then we had the cache in hand in spite of being 3m from a working concrete truck! TFTC!
North Island Campervan trip Day 9
After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.
This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.
Last night I was able to spend the night in a small DOC campsite right on the beach in Woolleys Bay. My main intention for today was to get up to Russell in the Bay of Islands. I haven't been there in over 30 years, and was really looking forward to being there again. After that I was simply going to start heading back south again.
The sun was shining today, making the driving all the more pleasurable.
The street was fairly quiet for a Saturday as I pulled up close to this one. I did feel a little exposed looking for it, but luckily it was a quick find. I used the seat to do the log signing, before the whole lot was replaced exactly as found and I was on my way again.
Thanks for setting up this cache.

Up in Russell for some work. Been a long day and I am very tired but found enough energy to climb the steep track from below.
Easy find, good condition. Nice view.

Nice view at GZ. I wasn't expecting such a large container, so well done. There is house construction going on next door, but I don't think this will disturb the cache. TFTC..
Thanks out for a walk after tea so don’t get to see the views. Still can find the cache in the dark.
Placed in 2010 do they school children follow the posts? I wonder how many of them become geocatchers when they become adults?

Had to wait while man at the house opposite was busy in this garden. Found today out and about in Russell. Thanks for replacing caches at this lovely spot
Away in the geocamper for a couple of weeks doing the TMGT caches in Northland and anything else nearby. A very nice view from here. Curious muggle down the road watching us park the geocamper. Mr S soon made the find.
Thanks RussellSchool.

Two weeks on, had to come back on the hunt... Still did not find - Awesome view from the Mary's Seat - Regards Michael and Michelle (The Flying Brick, NZ) ️
Sadly did not find, according to a local Geocacher it should have been right there Thank goodness for Mary's Seat, needed it after the Zig Zag Walk. Awesome view. Not sure why the seat is not painted in Mary's favourite colour. Quick n easy find - Regards Michael and Michelle (The Flying Brick, NZ) ️

Another quick find whilst in the area collecting the last of the Geo Tour caches. A great seat and Mary sounds like she was quite the character - nice that she is being remembered. TFTC
