The first of a couple of caches I earmarked for an evening walk today. I had never walked up this far along the track so underestimated how long it might take to reach the GZ. Had I read more previous logs I would have seen that about one hour was on the money..
Once near the GZ I quickly found the hint item and after that the cache was a quick find.
Sadly the fifteen months since its last find have not been kind to the cache which was full of water, rendering the log book unusable.
Thanks for the hide all the same. Just enough time to try the next cache along.

#9880. We made hard work of most of the finds on the way up (and managed 3 DNFs as well). This one didn't take too long to track down; nicely hidden.

It was drizzling as we approached GZ so after a quick fruitless search we decided to read the hint. Appreciated the good clear hint for the hide as both our GPSrs struggled in this environment today and we'd already had one DNF today (the first of three). Time to get the rain jackets out and hope this shower will pass (it did). TFTC.
Easy find with help from the hint, and an interesting diversion on my trip down the hill, Thanks.
I felt really lucky today. The other 2 parts of the SIS team were planning a sortie on 2 caches up this way. I tagged along - - - but there were lots more unfound caches for me. - - - I think I ended up with 7. Really interesting to read the description to see how the cache got its name!!! Turned out to be good to be here early afternoon on a weekday because there were no bikes on this part of the track. Great cache. Thanks.
So what started as a 2 to 3 hour Waitangi Day walk with MrsM turned into an almost 5 hour mission. Up the Involution Trail, across the top of Barnicoat and then down the Glider Rd, picking up 11 caches along the way. Find #2 and another quick recovery after dodging some mountain bikers. Dropped off a TB. TFTC

Heh I'll remember this one. Came down the 4WD track from Jenkins Hill, followed some tracks, and then bushbashed down a steep slope to come out about 30m from the cache +1
Cheers Gav

We rewarded ourselves for completing some reports by a wander up the track and down the road. Really nice on the new track around midday with the sun still out. Birds singing, blue sky, no-one else on the track. What more could you want?? Ohhh a cache... and just where the GPS said it would be. Thanks for the extra excuse to get 'out of the house'. Now onwards and upwards.
Beautiful spot but glad I was on foot and not on my mtb tricky getting exact gz as sat fix was weak tftc
It pays to read the hint properly - spent time looking in the incorrect place but found with perseverance.
First time on this wonderful track, with faithful dog to lead the way.
Thanks, Jackie & dog.
Thanks, Jackie & dog.
Dodged a couple of fast moving bicyclist on our way to this one.
Found with ease.
Great track, a gentle return after a steep climb up Old Goats.

This cache was a bit of a surprise to me. Being a visitor to the area I hadn't expected that the newish Involution MTB track would lead me right to it, but when the cache showed up on my new gps as I came downhill I was glad that it had all the cache info too. If only I could get someone to drop my MTB off at the top ............... I'd be back in a flash. Thanks for the cache.
This is a great track with bush, waterfalls, a bit of up and down and of course a couple of caches. very enjoyable afternoon walk thanks. TFTYC #1874

Biked down here on Sunday on a cache run but must have gone right passed it so walked up after work in the nice cool evening left TB great work on the track
And now i know! first cache on a circuit of 5, very enjoyable start to the new year. Tftc
Our old GPS was pretty much useless here, but luckily the clue was quite explicit (although subject to interpretation depending on whether you're going up or down!) TFTC.
Can't wait for the weather to improve! Anyway, I get just as wet from the inside, so let's go. One thing learned: I'm not ever going to put myself in a position where I have to do PD. That's hard work! At least we get to enjoy it I suppose. Nice track with some amazing landscaping: fences built from native timber; patios made from locally quarried slabs of stone; and even some water features. Cloud base at 250m this morning, so no views. Happy to find the cache by looking in the obvious places without needing a hint. TFTC.
Ended up walking a good half of this downhill track with the bikes while risking life and limb. Amazing the amount of blood and sweat that must have gone in to making it. Real mtb'ers must love it.

Walked up from the bottom. GPS was crazy on the way up so I walked straight past this, found the next one up the track and had to back track to GZ. Found cache in the 2nd place I looked. TFTC, Biggles.
after a couple of weeks getting off track in some remote places minus gps, time to get some up hill finds.....always happy to be brought up here ....along with the crowds (running & biking) today. this is a beaut ride, will be good when last 100m is done.thanks Matt
Found without GPS. Still scratching my head about this one. GPS seems to be playing tricks on me. TFTC
A mountain bike ride with 'Navfam' (minus the fam) and 'GazSuz' (minus the Gaz) that inadvertently turned into a cache hunt (minus a GPSr) after meeting Kiwi Explorer along the top. Armed with the clue, we tore down the track (by tore, I actually mean slipped and slid and cautiously negotiated wet roots and rocks!) to find both new caches on this track. Can see this track being a regular ride for a Stoke boy. TFTC
Matt your info is not entirely correct. Your informant may not have told you it took him 1hr 15 to push his bike to the top!! Found cache this morning with Gazsuz and Burlis. Not before Kiwiexplorer had got his hands on it however. Pleased to see people doing there bit to bed the track in. Pretty sloppy today. Must have missed you up there yesterday. Good job we like different waterfalls aye!!
FTF at 7.20am. Great new track even if it was a bit muddy this morning. Met the late late shift along the top road and gave them the clue so they could find this one on their way down. Apparently none of them were carrying gps units - what sort of geocachers are they??? Left a pencil and a geocoin in the cache. Thanks.
