Out with our caching friends the Walenator's. Had a good look around while trying not to attract the attention of the nearby frolicking swimmers. All we managed to find was a pile of of person poo! We decided to pass! Hope it has disappeared.
Had a good hunt around for this one but to no avail. DNF for us today. Watch out for the surprise poo package under the bark near the tree.

Having celebrated Fathers Day yesterday with the kids and grandkids it was up to me to decide what to do on the official day. Hello? A few days ago the better half had suggested an expedition to Eppalock to see it full after so many years of drought so on a delightful Spring day we headed off into the glorious sunshine.
A quick find in a delightful area.
Locations like this are 'the icing on the cake' of Geocaching with the locals hosting us anonymously to their favourite spots.

Our thanks to 379jonti379 for the cache and bringing us to this location.
Now if only I could solve your puzzle!!!!!!!

A day trip down to Bendigo for the Inernational Geocaching Day Event. Travelled with PD, as Lostmonster was working today. Arrived within 5m of GZ. PD found pretty quick and SL. Notice the water is up, but never seen the dam when it was low, looks like it would be a popular place in the summertime.....cheers 379Jonti379

Once we found a way to access the area, accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and its contents were in good condition. We covered the cache much more securely than we found it. TTFTC 379Jonti379.
After a spot of fishing decided to introduce a few newbie to the game.
This cache was found quick by a new member who signed the log and made a swap.
Thanks for the cache Jonti. Cache is dry and in good condition.

One of 182 caches I personally found on our "Ballarat Smackdown" trip. This was one of several I found before the official trip started, but for me traveling from Tocumwal, it was the first of my finds. "Ballarat Smackdown" trip included teams Quasar3671, Trailrunning, Haveanez, Dazrascal and myself. Caches included around 30 mystery caches, a few earth caches, lots of trads and multis and both day and night caching. Some 4WD action was encountered as well, which was great.
I took three of my kids, Jasmine 7yo, James and Jemma 5yo twins. The trip covered 3 days and two nights, staying in Ballarat. Quasar3671 took his two boys as did Haveanez. One of the best caching trips I have been on, and certainly lots and lots of finds, almost clearing out the main Ballarat area.
Second find for the day on the way to meet up with Trailrunning (Adrian) in Castlemain. A nice quick find with the kids in a great spot. Visited Eppalock many times as a youngster, actually on Astronomy Camps. Great memories. TFTC.

Found by The Empire @ 9:45am with tackle_head
After seeing Bushfire's name in the last log, tackle_head gave him a call as we knew we were close by. We met at this cache and had a chat. Thanks for the cache, 379jonti379.

After spending the night at vicfire's permanent camp site (their little bit of paradise)out at Lake Eppolock and having a few stubbies and a couple of reds and then bacon and eggs for breakfast this morning the ageing Bushfire was ready for a day of caching between here and Bendigo.
While signing the log the phone rings and who should be on the other end but Tackle_Head and his caching mate The Empire.
They are only a few minutes away so we waited until they arrived and had a good caching chat and then we were off to the next cache.
Thanks 379Jonti379 for placing this cache.

a few fisherfolk abouts but not a drama, nice log to sit on while filling in the log! tftc.
A muggle was fishing not far from where I was and further over there were some muggles having a picnic and using metal detectors. Waited a little while before collecting. TFTC
Found at 10.35am. This used to be where my mates and I use to hang out in summer when I was about 20 (not that long ago....he he he). A few muggles close by, but I was able to disguise my activities due to the dead tree to sit on. TFTC. TNLN.

A quick find after sitting quietly to observe muggles checking on us.
I remember visiting the slipway in 2006, never thought I'd see Eppalock full in my lifetime - it was at 4%. In Jan this year we got stuck in a traffic jam when water flowed over the slip for the first time in many years. It was like a public party, everyone was so excited. I believe the police came out to control traffic later that same day. Must admit to having a lump in my throat at seeing the dramatic change.
As history tells us, the down side of this was that there was no protection for towns downstream, as Elmore, Rochester & Echuca all suffered innundation from water that could not be held back here.

0944 with A+. Almost tempting enough to swim on this rainy day but we made do with an ixce-cream from the nearby kiosk. A little later got soaking wet anwyay at the orienteering event down the road. Cache lis no longer fits properly but contents dry. TN and left Jeep travel bug "Kameron" from NZ cache. LUCKY 777 was not there. TFTC.
Mmmmmm, DNF.
Been lots of activity around site. Humans leave lots behind.
Good to see the lake brimming
This is the 917th find for WazzaAndWenches
We noticed in the GCA Forum that a non geo event was being held today at Docklands and GCA was looking for some assistance. What better than to spend a few hours standing out in the wind and occasional light rain helping a bunch on non cachers look for caches.
Perhaps I didn't approach this cache to expected way but did find a gate and path from the main road and enjoyed the chance to stretch my legs with a short walk.
Cache found quickly in rapidly fading late afternoon sunlight.
I, too, remember when Eppalock was nothing more than a puddle near the spillway. It's great to see the lake full and attracting tourists and wildlife again.
Thanks Jonti.

14/03/2011 15:57 Found: #321 EagleEye walked up to this one and found this half exposed. It was another high speed cache so his tag will visit here. Didn't see any TBs so hope it hasn't been muggled already. Many large trees now under water. I recall seeing the boat club high and dry last year. I estimate it was about 1/2 a kilometre to the waters edge back then. Now it can't be more than 30 meters or so. Even some of the older trees that would have been on the edge me the lake are now about 1/2 meter under water. TFTC TNLN SL
Found by Mary & David at 1600. We've been aware of the low water levels here over many years. Delighted to see the level today - don't think we've ever seen it like this. We passed over the spillway after leaving hear and it was good to see water still flowing over the top. Amazed to think how much water must have overflowed when we saw the sections of road washed away just past the spillway. Our thanks once again to 379Jonti379.
Had fun getting to this one today.
With the lake so fill the road in was covered in water.
So I had to have a go driving through.

It was almost all over for this cache too! With friends from SA up for the weekend, we decided to head out to the lake to see how it looks, it is incredible. Upon arriving at GZ I found the contents of the container, the lid, and container on the ground, luckily all was dry so It was a simple task of putting it all back together.
Found after an early morning swim with the dog. Took the new GPSr for a spin and it worked a treat. Thanks.
Took a little while to find as was not the expected place to find it! Nice to see the lake so full. Lots of muggles around having picnics and swimming, hope we were discrete enough, tried to use the dog as a decoy. TFTC

On a farewell related trip to Bendigo, we had time to check out a few local changes. Eppalock was just an amazing transformation. We wondered how long a couple of logs that were sitting on the edge of the spillway would remain with the volume of water going over and down the Campaspe River.

Nice find. Lake is at 82 % at the moment. It would be nice to see the lake at 100% capacity by Christmas. I'm thinking it's probably reached it's peak for this season. Thanks 379Jonti379.
Great hide. Took lucky 777. Left refresher towel. Fellow geocachers may need it as the weather is getting warmer

I used to tell the kids that when we could see the water in Lake Eppaloch, we were halfway there.
My thanks to 379Jonti379 for showing me this nice arm of the lake.
Pity I didn't have my rods on board, I'm sure the fish would be moving with the water's rise.

Fantastic to see so much water in the lake. Plenty of people around to enjoy it also. Funny to see the tops of the trees sticking out with so many leaves on them. TNLN. Picked up th TB. Thanks Jonti for the hide.
Heading over to visit my sister for her birthday, did a few caches on the way. Quick find and log, no muggles but the grass near gz is starting to grow, watch out for creepy crawlies in the coming months.

We did this one by boat from our caravan at Beale Bay 4.5kms away which took about 17mins.
