I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in a prior reviewer note.
Hi bumandworker
This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).
I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.
Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.
Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

I had a look last night at a map of caches I have yet to sign off on the road north of Kaikoura. These caches don't have a big enough park for my cachemobile and snail shell so I just came up in my cachemobile. From my research I know that some maybe missing or hard to find.
My 2nd DNF here. Pretty certain it has gone with all the recent works that has gone on here. Score Yellow 1/ Blue 2.

Newly sealed carpark and a few changes looked in different areas but no luck. Enjoyed our bike ride up the valley tho
Nice drive and a very new building. No luck at GZ or any other corner. New concrete path, double glazing and heat pump. No luck for us, will watch this one.
Ga, second time failure here. Last time was a county fair of some type and this time, no one about but no luck in the search. Cheers
Walked up from The Store campground viewing the city highlights on the way .
Interesting tour. Looks like older half of the school is from the era of railway construction through here. Thanks.

Time to head back to a 50th overnight party in our home town Christchurch. This was found with my wife on day seven of our eight day holiday in Marlborough based at Picton.
We're on our way back home to Christchurch with a few stops. This was one of them. Wow a whole new community I knew existed.
JDScout and I are spending a week in Picton. We have spent this week exploring Marlborough and finding a few geocaches. Thanks bumandworker for creating this hide. It was find 9524 for me.

Planning for the NZ Mega 2021 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, October 2021

Its Sunday so time to break out of camp for the day. On the radar was a walk in Kaikoura but there were lots of little green boxes staring back at me that needed attention. So eventually I enjoyed beach walks and wandering around inland regions between Ward and Clarence. It was still a magical day experiencing many different landscapes.

Our GPS is starting to play up and sending us all over the place. Common sense wins out and finds the cache whilst the GPS can't work out which direction is up. tftc
Mr & Mrs W swapped children with Melonious and headed off on a caching trip with their Miss 9. The aim - to grab as many caches between Seddon and Clarence while it's quiet (before the road reopens). An icy wind didn't deter us and a 5 hour round trip saw a few more smileys on the map Both of us are quite taken with the Kekerengu community. Much of the return trip was taken up discussing the feasibility and practicalities of moving here ... TFTC.
Found with NZDi. As a last minute idea, NZDi suggested we make another attempt to clear the caches between the Awatere and Clarence Rivers, so I ran a quick pocket query and came up with 12 unfound that were getable. There were a few others, but they were inaccessible due to closed DOC tracks from last November's earthquake.
So while I got ready, NZDI packed a picnic lunch and we headed off at a leisurely 9.30am. We stopped off in town to grab a coffee and Chai to sustain us on the trip south, then made a bee-line to the furthest south cache, before retracing our tracks picking up smileys on the way home.
Stopping by here for another attempt after the previous one was foiled by muggles using the hall. Today the coast was clear and we had our second successful QEF PnG to make up for the DNF that we started the day with.

First time I have been to Kekerengu itself, so thanks for bringing us here. I have a former workmate who lives here who would commute to Blenheim every day for work for years. She thought nothing of it. I never traveled that far for work even when I lived in Auckland. Last I heard she was working at the dead end of SH1 at Clarence to turn traffic back north, but no sign of her on our travels today unfortunately. Quick find once GPS settled, which took a while. TFTC.
A perfect Marlborough autumn day today, sunny with no breeze, so Jo and I decided a trip down SH 1 was in the offing to pick up some of those park and grabs that we always find so difficult to do when this road is fully functioning and we are time-stressed on a trip to CHCH to see my family. So what better day than today, on what for me is the start of a 4 day weekend and with minimal traffic around to go for a bit of a nosey down south. The aim was anything south of Ward and north of Clarence, and not requiring too much of a detour from the main road. 15 claimed which leaves us 2 short of the 1K mark. Thanks to all COs .

Quick stop on my way to Blenheim. Signed log and returned as found. Thanks for the cache.
With a few more days of holidays left we decided to head south again and find some caches we didn't have time to look for last week, plus some more off the beaten track. This was one of 51 found today.
Thank you bumandworker.
Thank you bumandworker.
Our recent multi day Canterbury cache raid was so successful we decided to have another one before the holidays finished. Again we got stabbed, prodded, pricked and scraped by the variety of hedges the region is so famous for. And of course we can now hold our breath a lot longer. A skill well worth developing to avoid breathing in part of the road surface every time a vehicle passes. Just over 200 finds were logged this time and a great time was had finding the caches with a variety of shapes, sizes and placements. A big thank you to all COs who made this possible.
GPS jumped around a bit. Looked at the back of the hall. DNF for us today. Enjoyed watching a cow eat an apple from the tree though.
Nice drive on a road with no trafic .. and an easy find, once I actually looked in the right spot

O Boy!!! What a full on 5 days caching. Driving/Sailing to attend the Christchurch Mega Event with Squirrel Nutcase and also picking up caches on the way to help us complete our Dot Days and Challenges we are currently trying to fulfill. We traveled to so many places that we have never visited before and with 240 plus caches later knew we had an eventful few days.
3pm - Bit side tracked as we were trying to solve multi in the area, so grabbed this one with no phone coverage. Now back to the multi. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)...
On our way to NZ Mega Christchurch 2015, and caching as we go. We planned to stay close to the main highway and only venture off into the countryside where appropriate... That didn't always work for us. A 4-5 hour journey ended up taking us almost two days; such was the sheer number of caches we encountered along the route.
We are pleased to report that almost all of the caches we stopped for were in place and in good order. Besides a bit of dampness, there was nothing of concern. This is a feat that cache owners in this area of the country can be proud of... We thank you... Thank you for bringing to our attentions areas of significance. We enjoyed discovering scenic areas, historical and social locations, and other personally meaningful spots.
As stated, we found loads of caches... If we were to write an individualised note for each one, we'd never get the logging done. Hence, there will be a lot of cutting and pasting going on... My apologies!!
Canterbury: We got some odd projections off the nearby multi and decided to head this way to investigate. Mobile coverage died, but I remembered reading enough of the description about this cache. We arrived and headed straight for it... Done without needing any navigational tools. TFTC.

You get such a one dimensional view of a locality when you just cruise the main highway don't you. Awesome to explore this picturesque valley and get a real feel for the place. Thanks.
We had planned a caching trip to Mt Patriach today, but with a large fire up the Onamalutu and the road closed, plans had to change. Capperz and I decided to head to Kaikoura and clear up some areas just off the main road that he hadn't managed to get to yet. We had some light rain overnight, and the day dawned calm and cold helping those getting the fire under control. There was also a light dusting of snow on the tops of nearby hills, from around 1400m up. We headed south, caching along the way and filling up the map with yellow smiles. There was a strong southerly blowing along the coast, with rough seas and cooler temperature. Many miles covered, many caches found and a very good day out exploring.
I too am one of those travellers with no idea of what was up this side road. hundreds of trips along the highway and I didn't even know you could connect to here from Ellerton! A nice little divert and interesting bit of N Z history. Cache soon located, signed up and returned. We chose to carry on along the back road to come out at the Ellerton end. Very nice to be off the highway.

The original plan for this Waitangi Day was to climb up Mount Patriarch after a tramping and biking combo. The talk for most of the week had been around the assumption that Friday was that, then I was going to head down the line to Kaikoura on the Saturday and come back on the Sunday.
The best laid plans of mice and men and all that.
Dry conditions and this weeks fires along North Bank Road have led to it being closed to traffic for the next few days so new plans must be made. Couldn't really sit around doing nothing with a day off and no plan could I?
Spoke to G H 6 7 1 0 and hew was keen for a day trip down the line to Kaikoura as long as we got back today ready for wedding anniversary tomorrow, no worries. I plugged in 76 caches into the G P S ; 5 from four caches and 71 from b&w, seriously. I enjoy finding caches at the end of the day and all the ones we found today were well maintained; one was even duplicated, more on that later.
The weather was a cool, strong Southerly breeze after rain in the night cooled things down a little and snow appeared atop the higher Nelson ranges and the Kaikoura Ranges too, looked good though.

[green] An awesome weekend caching to and fro Kaikoura, on a strangely empty State Highway 1. But two things marred it - one: I could only do a two day weekend, despite that this is a three day weekend - I suddenly got dumped with a ton of homework and I better do some study. And two: Someone smashed a side window on the car and stole the sleeping bag. So this weekend is going to be a lot more expensive than I had bargained for . Still... 120 caches! That will be a weekend record for me. And just about every cache between Blenheim and Kaikoura converted to yellow smilies. Lots of walking, sunburn, dust. Big smiley on my face even if not in my pocket! Took me all day to get to Kaikoura from Blenheim yesterday, on my way back today, filling in some gaps, missed on the way down.
Jeepers. It's the 6th today. I am four days behind schedule!

A quick little detour off the main road. We nearly missed the turn onto the bridge. The cache was easily found. First to sign the new logbook but its abit of a squeeze into the bag. Saw a tractor on the way out who looked pretty surprised to see us - probably thought we were lost. Thanks for the cache

The last hoorah before cachelet #1 heads back to school and theWanglers spent a few nights in Kaikoura. We were heading out to the Ohau Stream waterfall to find some baby seals and since we weren't in a hurry we made a few stops. After seeing the seals we headed out to The Store for lunch. After lunch we headed out to the Kekerengu settlement. Wow, it's so pretty. We found the recycling depot and cachelet #1 found the cache. The log was full and we replaced it with a new one. Made a few swaps and left two travel bugs. We have never been this way before.
Thanks for the cache.

Mrs R had said on the way up that it was a shame there way no alternative (similar length) route back to Christchurch. This cache was our excuse for a short, gorgeous, detour back to the main drag. No 11 of 16 today. TFTC
We had never been on this road before so it was interesting to see more of Kekerengu.

Nice easy find on a wee side diversion off the main road. I remember doing the Moa Hunt mountainbike race a few years back, which went in from Kekerengu, and I'm pretty sure we came out past here on the final home stretch. (I must have been a bit fitter then.) TNLN. Good one, thanks.
Nice side trip. An undiscovered part of NZ for us on a path less travelled.

On way to check out the KT Boudary http://www.nzgeographic.co.nz/archives/issue-101/k-pg-boundary in the Chalk Range, inland from Kekerengu. During the day we saw a Robin, hawks, harriers, ducks, a deer, a big pig, many sheep, and goats. What a great trip! If you want to do this trip, you must speak to the landowners first (an pay a little bit of money), up the valley on the left.
An interesting spot. We stopped at the wee church first where i found my great-great-grandfather's grave. We then carried on to the GZ but as we had no reception we were flying blind. We had no idea of size or description so gave up and carried on to Christchurch.
Day 8 of the trip home to Christchurch, Blenheim-home. A fine sunny cloudless day. Was saying on the way up, "where do the staff for the Store live?" Now I know! A nice detour from the busy road. Thanks for the hide.
we had no idea the community was there - thanks for directing us off the main road to have a look around
This cache gave me hell! Spent nearly an hour scruffing around, lifting tires, etc. Then tried to climb to top of hill to try and get reception to look at the hint, and couldn't get any! Got there eventually though. TFTC
WOW - Been along this road SO many times, and didn't know this nice valley even existed. Thanks.

TFTC. I am so pleased that I decided to take this brief detour off the main road. A lovely valley and local history revealed themselves. Cache in good order.
Have known about The Store for a while, but never thought about the community! Fun to see.
4414. The fourteenth cache find on the fourth day of our six day geocaching tour around Hanmer and Kaikoura in our campervan. We knew where to go to,having been in here geocaching a long time ago. Rodney will never forget bending over to take a photo of the GPS at the Kekerengu confluence, which happened to be in a paddock full of bulls!!! A quick find today before making our way back to Kaikoura. Thanks, Rodney and Iris.
first time looking around this little town - you were right, there is more to it than just the store at the bend in the highway, thanks bumandworker
Loved the wee church. Had lunch in Community Centre car-park after locating cache.
Quick find, not a good place for a game of tennis these days TFTC.

A quick find on the way south this afternoon. Stopped here for a late-ish picnic lunch, it was much more sheltered than on the coast and there was shade available. Signed log, TFTC!
I had my breath held that there would be nobody at the Community Hall when I arrived - last time I sought this cache there were a bevy of local women armed with paintbrushes painting the outside of the building. No such problem this time and the log was quickly solved. This the 4th 'Lonely Cache' that I've visited today.
A pleasant side - trip, and a good spot for a short driving lesson for the teenager. Thanks.

Interesting little places when you go off the main road. Liked the little church and memorials.
On a mission today to pick up caches south of Blenheim, and in particular those that qualify for 'New Zealand's Loneliest Cache Challenge'. 'Kekerengu Community Centre' was already on our to-do list, but as a bonus it was also a qualifying cache. We enjoyed the drive through this little community. What a tiny church! Thanks for encouraging us to explore off the beaten track.

We had decided not to turn off the highway for any more caches as it was getting darker. However, we could not resist this one as we hadn't previously known the township existed. Very quiet but we did see the church as we drove by. Thanks.
Deserves a favourite for getting us there in the wet and Dark. Couldn't see much but a couple of cars went past and appeared to look and see what we were up to.. TFTC
Was on our way north to Picton and doing a few caches along the way, came across this cache and thought that we would go and give it a try. Arriving at GZ and all was clear and no muggles nearby so went to grab the cache while Mrs Yeetrees went to check out the church, decided to drop off Bent Kiwi Travel Bug and also picked up Plumbrokeacres Personal Geocoin, thanks for bringing us to this lovely spot, TFTTC SL (3114)
Foiled by window-washing muggles on 17/3/11 but no-one about this morning. TFTC
{ At 11:30 NZDT.. Made detour on way to Christchurch to pick up this cache.Nice easy find !! Surprised how large the community is!! Pity there is so many re-cycling boxes on site, spoils the effect !! TFTC ]
Made a detour on our way home to look for this cache. On arrival we found a working bee clearing the area. The way looked clear to make a dash & grab but no sooner had I got out of the car when I was approached. Engaged the lady in in conversation about the building and decided this one could wait another day. Hope they don't find the cahe while cleaning up.
A quick find at the community centre - was fascinated by the cute wee church back round the corner - could have been a chocolate box lid have never ventured into the community before signed log thanks for the cache
Managed to ignore some of the closer surroundings to GZ and enjoy the approach from further afield in an area that we had not been in before TFTC and bringing us to explore more new areas
Sorry not sure i liked this one that much - liked the little diversion off the highway and drive thru the village but lots of rotting rubbish has been left at the GZ so not that pleasant an find
Did the little drive up the valley - some lovely houses & gardens, found the cache, then adjourned to The Store for a late afternoon tea. TNLN TFTC
Didn't realise there were populated wee valleys off the highway along here. Nice spot, but maybe not in winter.
