This one took forever to locate amongst the vegetation and lots of potential hint objects, but I got there eventually. What a pity camping is no longer possible here. TFTC!!
Bums worker would like to update that the coordinates now work as the container has been returned to GZ. Hint, if necessary: reach over, under a couple of smaller ones.
I called in to take a look at the start of the track above. While here, I located the "out-of-place" container and returned it, with a piece of waterproof paper, to a much closer place within a couple of metres of GZ. Coordinates are now good.
Definitely not where GPS takes you- 16+ off course -very very wet able to write on just - TFTC
Had to pause until a parked muggle drove away from where we wanted to be! Soon located after reading a few logs .Thanks
Found it at the end of our walk to pacific lookout - with quinella - but geodog had gone to lie down in the car tftc

Just the one cache on the drive home from Christchurch to Blenheim, and this was the one.
It was time to stretch the legs a bit, and this is one RG72 and I looked for recently but with no cellphone coverage and the cache not downloaded, we were a bit blind.
Better prepared today, and some past logs helped.
Cache was about 15 metres from coords for me today, no issues apart from that. TFTC B&W.

Took a little while to find this one. Wasn’t until I read the CO’s latest logs to narrow down the search area.

We have been sitting around for a couple of days, so decided a bit of exercise would be a good idea. So aimed for the second cache on this trail ( the weather was a bit marginal to go to far).
We didn't find this at first so figured we'd leave it for when we returned.
Having read some previous logs as we headed back down, we had a better idea where to look, and the cache was in hand very quickly this time.
Thanks for putting this here

This took quite a whioe to find, with my GPS pointing 15+ metres away from where I finally found it. Time for a coffee and muffin across the road!
Ms_KR and I had a weekend away up to Kaikoura. A lovey day for the drive home 30 degrees in the back country, so quite warm!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

I'd given up and was enjoying the sun and the flora. Then Karma Reprint called. I'd already tried there but obviously too superficially plus his arms are longer than mine. Tftc
cache no where near the creek, and those rocks ain't going anywhere. They were placed with a digger ! Stop people trying to 4wd up, they would get very far anyway.
Couldn’t find it, I think either the creek has flooded it away or the rocks have been moved.
This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.
I went out to this site at the end of last year and did a thorough search for the cache. It is obviously gone. The track has been modified during the earthworks in the area. The track has been reformed and the rocks moved off the track to allow access for trucks before being replaced. I surveyed the area in 2017, so many modifications.
I'm loathe to log a DNF because the cache could quite possibly still be there, however it eluded us today. It looks as though the track is still closed but the carpark is perfectly usable.
Area closed following 11/16 quake.
could be up to a year then maybe we will need to do a check once open

Found with NZDi. Not having made any geocaching plans during the week, when I asked NZDi last night what she wanted to do, she said 'That track down by Kaikoura'. I immediately knew she meant the track from Okiwi Bay to Half Moon Bay about 30kms north of Kaikoura. Every time we've driven past there on our way to or from Christchurch, NZDi harps on about doing this track, but I've been reluctant as it requires a team effort with vehicles at both ends otherwise you need to be prepared to do a 7km return walk along SH1. I was hoping that Team W.A.S.P could make a joint assault on this track to help with the logistics.
Figuring I couldn't put it off forever, last night I ran a pocket query for the area and saved the results in my mobile and Garmin eTrex 20 and this morning after a late start we headed south arriving to hit the track just before 10am. It was my intention to start at Okiwi Bay and do up to Jacobs Ladder then return and reposition the car at Half Moon Bay and do up to Seaward View Junction and return. Unfortunately, I had forgotten that NZDi doesn't like to backtrack and like the Star Ship Enterprise, was 'boldly going forward coz we can't find reverse', so when we got to Jacobs Ladder she insisted we push on to Seaward View Junction and complete the loop, including the 7km return trip along SH1, which is what we did. The sign at the start of the track said it would take 6 hours and with stops to find geocaches, including the side tracks to the lookouts as well as rest stops and snack/lunch stops, it took us just under 6.5 hours. Add another hour and half to get back to the start point and we were on our feet for almost eight hours, I'm going to sleep well tonight.
Despite being a beautiful blue sky day, the temperature was freezing and there were still remnants of snow on the side of the track that hadn't melted since the dump earlier in the week. The track was getting a bit of a workout today with a couple of tourists taking a walk from Okiwi Bay to Pacific Lookout, three hunters and a large group of fit looking ladies training for this year's Spring Challenge.
We were a little disappointed at the lack of caches between Jacobs Ladder and Seaward View Junction and were wondering if the CO placed the caches as per my original intention to retrieve them. However we couldn't do this trip without placing our own cache which we did strategically between the two. There is plenty of room for more to be placed as well, but if you do, they will be instantly placed on my ignore list.
As GZ turned out to be in the middle of the track and also in the middle of half a dozen hinted items, we had to check them all before the last one gave up the treasure.

Went on a big adventure with Wafflekitties and geo pups, had a blast thanks for the memories! TFTC.
Found while on holiday in the South Island with LCBuilder and our two geodogs. We spent 3 weeks travelling down the east coast and then up the west coast, moving to a different campsite each night. We got a few geocaches along our way; our best day was 41 and our worst was 6 we saw a lot of awesome sights and will definitely have to come back one day!
No problems finding this one. This is where we camped for our second night TFTC!

With a few more days of holidays left we decided to head south again and find some caches we didn't have time to look for last week, plus some more off the beaten track. This was one of 51 found today.
Thank you to all CO's who made this possible.

Our recent multi day Canterbury cache raid was so successful we decided to have another one before the holidays finished. Again we got stabbed, prodded, pricked and scraped by the variety of hedges the region is so famous for. And of course we can now hold our breath a lot longer. A skill well worth developing to avoid breathing in part of the road surface every time a vehicle passes. Just over 200 finds were logged this time and a great time was had finding the caches with a variety of shapes, sizes and placements. A big thank you to all COs who made this possible.
At this nice place we had a overnight stay. So in the morning Maike prepared the breakfast and I went for a short walk to find this cache. It was a quick and easy find. A very nice place and free campground.

Driving a car back to Palmerston North for a friend. Quick stop for a easy find. Thanks for the cache.
Found on our 25 day New Zealand South Island holiday.
Apologies for the late log but with little or no internet as we travelled and only super slow WiFi in van parks I decided to log all finds on my return home.
Grabbed this one while heading North. Backed the camper in for the night and found there was a cache only 8 meters away

This is certainly a pleasant stopping place that we did not know about before. A good place to take a break on the journey. Hunted around the well-searched rocks here, then enjoyed a cup of tea after a successful find. Thanks b&w.
The original plan for this Waitangi Day was to climb up Mount Patriarch after a tramping and biking combo. The talk for most of the week had been around the assumption that Friday was that, then I was going to head down the line to Kaikoura on the Saturday and come back on the Sunday.
The best laid plans of mice and men and all that.
Dry conditions and this weeks fires along North Bank Road have led to it being closed to traffic for the next few days so new plans must be made. Couldn't really sit around doing nothing with a day off and no plan could I?
Spoke to G H 6 7 1 0 and hew was keen for a day trip down the line to Kaikoura as long as we got back today ready for wedding anniversary tomorrow, no worries. I plugged in 76 caches into the G P S ; 5 from four caches and 71 from b&w, seriously. I enjoy finding caches at the end of the day and all the ones we found today were well maintained; one was even duplicated, more on that later.
The weather was a cool, strong Southerly breeze after rain in the night cooled things down a little and snow appeared atop the higher Nelson ranges and the Kaikoura Ranges too, looked good though.

Back down to the car from the look out and this was a Q E F once we got the proper hint item, so many to choose from!

We had planned a caching trip to Mt Patriach today, but with a large fire up the Onamalutu and the road closed, plans had to change. Capperz and I decided to head to Kaikoura and clear up some areas just off the main road that he hadn't managed to get to yet. We had some light rain overnight, and the day dawned calm and cold helping those getting the fire under control. There was also a light dusting of snow on the tops of nearby hills, from around 1400m up. We headed south, caching along the way and filling up the map with yellow smiles. There was a strong southerly blowing along the coast, with rough seas and cooler temperature. Many miles covered, many caches found and a very good day out exploring.
We picked this one up on the way back to the car from the lookout. Will have to come back and walk the rest of the tracks up here. Nice area and a good hide here, mostly out of view of those parked up below. T F T C

A popular place for the campers, about 5 vans in the other parking area. However, none around here so an easy hunt. Cheers.
[green] An awesome weekend caching to and fro Kaikoura, on a strangely empty State Highway 1. But two things marred it - one: I could only do a two day weekend, despite that this is a three day weekend - I suddenly got dumped with a ton of homework - I better do some study. And two: Someone smashed a side window on the car and stole the sleeping bag. So this weekend is going to be a lot more expensive than I had bargained for . Still... 120 caches! That will be a weekend record for me. And just about every cache between Blenheim and Kaikoura converted to yellow smilies. Lots of walking, sunburn, dust. Big smiley on my face even if not in my pocket!
After failing on the other two caches here at Okiwi, I am glad I found this one!

A quick find after using the facilities. Searched my phone for the attribute and very glad there was one this close or we wouldve driven past alot more caches on the way into Kaikoura. Abit late to be starting any walks tonight.

Was down here with the airforce on a adventure training day - a nice break from the class room and physical training sessions. Part of my 13 week job interview. But alas, we were not allowed to bring our cellphones, and from the speed we did up the hill, probably would not have had time to look either. So no gps, no chance to look even if I had one. Oh well.
Have meant to stop and check this little DOC camp site for years, now there is another reason. #3 for the day

2/16/14 ChezAnnette and I searched by every rock when her hubby finally spotted it!
Good one ! So good not to have to worry so much about muggles as we poked around. And we found it easily.
Called by for a quick park and grab. No time to head up to the lookout although it was a perfect day for it. Running out of caching time on our way back home.

I had to search a number before locating the cache.

We stopped for a little break so I pulled the GPS out to see if there were any around. Turned out that we were exactly 4 meter away from a geocache so obviously we went for it and found it pretty quickly at this nice location !

Found at 12:19:00 PM. Travelling South from Picton to Christchurch on a wet windy day grabbing what caches that we could despite the weather. when we arrived at GZ there were 2 muggles obviously preparing for a walk in the reserve so we went and did the nearby cache and by the time that we had returned they had left, thankfully.
