Continuing on our adventure after attending the Alexandra Mega Event, we found ourselves spending a few days on Phillip Island. While we tried to take advantage of the many great places to see on the island, we were pre-occupied with trying to complete the qualifying requirements for a particular challenge cache we had signed in Ballarat prior to the Surf Coast Mega Event last year. It really does pay to check the finer details of a challenge cache before you decide to look for it We had thought you needed to have found 100 caches in Victoria, but it was only when we came to log it that we realised the 100 caches in Victoria had to have been placed by the same cache owner
Anyway, initially we thought we would complete the challenge by doing the Mt Disappointment caches, but then friends who knew we were heading to Phillip Island told us we would easily qualify for the challenge there, and they would be much more interesting caches Well they were quite interesting, and some of them were downright sneaky
In the end, we had an enjoyable couple of days exploring Phillip Island and finding a variety of cache hides, with some great walks along some of the beaches and other places
Thank you Gonefishen07 for having placed the cache and maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

****I should mention here that the cache is still at posted coordinates, but a new fence around this section of reserve will make access a bit more difficult, use gate on Smith's Beach Rd.
An after work caching visit, saw us on the Island with the view of getting some caches we had to pass up on our visit last week. We found this cache as a nice quiet drive by and noticed how quiet it is here on the Island during the week.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for this cache placement.

Hmmm, more of a 'couldn't get to' than a DNF, new fence is definitely cutting off access to cache and didn't really feel comfortable jumping it, particularly on a fairly busy road so let this one slide
Noch vor dem Besuch im Koalacenter drei an dieser Strecke geloggt. TFTC and regards from Switzerland.
Only one more for me to find in this series not Roadkill 3. Then the final. Here I come.

We had this on our site and completed the series this morning and some extra once along the way, there were some clever , some tricky hides. The weather was good to us and got all done incident free. Most enjoyable day. TFTC
Down from Canberra for a MEGA geo-getaway geomission
Today's geomission was to head off to Phillip Island to target several Earth caches at low tide and to nab a whole stack of others as well
This one was one of a whole stack I found during my Philip Island geomission. Apologies for the generic logs-I can't remember them all but I enjoyed my day caching and sightseeing!
Thanks for the hide, Gonefishen07

16:01, 15 October 2015. #262. Finally getting around to writing these up. Straight after checking in for a weekend of marshalling at the MotoGP I thought I'd hit a cache or two on PI. This was the eighth in the run, second in this series and last for the day. This was a little more interesting to get to than I expected, but still not difficult.
It was a little exposed, but not obvious when I found it, so I covered it a bit better before I left.

A quick and easy find as we make our way around the Island. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
Oh a nice break from "The Pathway Where Every Letter Counts" series. If only pigs could fly! But wait! How else could they have got here? The notes say "Middle-sized children should enjoy them" - well these old fogies did!

Nice easy find to start our geocaching day unfortunately road kill not far away.
While we have nothing to do y not head to Philip Island and find some caches. Out with geobrother on this hunt. Tftc
Found a real life bouncing wallaby, rabbit and a giant hare! By far the biggest hare we have every seen! Oh yes and then we found the cache. Thanks for being us here. SL tftc
Thought we grab some roadkill while in the area, well it is nearly lunch time !! There was a nice touch of humour in these hides. TFTC Gonefishen07.
TFTC Gonefishen07. Nice change from the other series I'm doing today. A nice clean log sheet too! Jimmytherat.

Looked everywhere even used the hint. Geoboof got bitten by a 'humongous' ant, so called it a night.
Searched the area, but sadly a DNF for us here today. [8)]
Resorted to the hint and found an obvious spot but no cache in there.

Out and about with 80 degrees while enjoying a weekend at Philip Island to test out our new caravan. Stayed at the Big 4 which was excellent. Enjoying this series along with another we took a turn off to pick this one up. Parked and followed the geo trail. Thought I might croak it for a minute. Nice easy find

While spending a weekend on the island with xambo4u while they did some setup tasks on the latest van we decided that the pathway series and any nearby would be our challenge. Loved some of the novel containers used in this series. This was found quickly TFTC
Was initially on the wrong side of the road. Crossed the road and didn't become roadkill, but on the way back to the other side, saw a poor wallaby who hadn't been so lucky.. Liked this little critter in the cache. Perfect little home for him. TFTC
Found this one with OrionJ while doing the The Pathway where every letter counts series. It was a short detour and was soon found and logged. TFTC
Made the stop for this one while walking along the pathway where every letter counts with Mrs LHE Duo. Even though we had to cross the road for this one, it was not even 25 m off the path really.
Anyway soon once over the road the find was relatively easy to make and with the log signed, it was back to finding the path and letters that we needed.

One of many "Roadkill" caches found during the weekend. All are nicely themed and good hides. TFTC

At the end of a morning's caching, took a wrong turn and came upon this cache with some guidance from matt_geo. Cool cache. Added a favourite for the series. TFTC
Found! This one was off the beaten track a little. We parked a bit further along & tracked back through the wet grass. I did see some roadkill here unfortunatly. Cache was an easy find & another great container.

We had a day trip to Phillip Island, Hubby wanted to see where the V8s raced & I was more interested in the penguins. We saw some great sea views, visited the chocolate factory & of course the V8 circuit.
The caches were numerous & well placed it was a thoroughly enjoyable day.
The road kill in this area is definitely different than around the Port Macquarie area.
Thanks for placing this series hell+back

We had a bit of a walk to this on and made a quick find after arriving at G.Z. It is lucky we didn't have our regular caching buddies from back home in Albury with us today as one of them has a big fear of this particular not roadkill.

A very big day on Philip Island getting as many caches as possible done today. This is one of the traditional caches that we enjoyed doing while taking in some of the sights. Love this series so a favourite point here. Thanks to hell+back for hiding this cache.
Finally our travels have bought us close to Phillip Island. A fine day and awesome scenery made this a caching day to remember. We ventured from spot to spot admiring the changing scenery and enjoying the different hides. Thanks to hell+back for placing this cache.
Found this cache with onkeldomme while playing the "Pathway"-trail. All the not-Raodkill-caches enjoyed us with their nice ideas of hiding!

Melbourne parties Friday noon and returned Tuesday morning in Melbourne. I came here to make different trail of caches in the area. It was intense few days with my bike but very nice! I could find caches with superb camouflage, very good ideas from the cachers. This log will be the same for all caches that I made (sorry) But I want to congratulate in particular:
Nut bear & BorisB & Natasha for "Bay Trail" and "Red Hill Express" (Beautiful cover!)
The Three Amigos Geo for "The Pathway"
Gonefishen07 for the great "Rail Trail"
As well as other geocacher who I discovered several caches during these few days.
Thank you very much
Greetings from France
I will be at Mega event with my friend who just especially France also "Ckronos"

Visited Phillip Island with the family for the day. Today's mission was to complete the Not Roadkill series. Despite the island being so busy, the mission was successful. Grabbed this one in a sea of flies. Thanks.
Went caching on Phillip Island with my family. There were so many flies in the grass here Dad though there must be some roadkill! Thanks.
I was walking from Cowes towards San Remo on the bike track. Crossing the road to get to this cache proved a little challenging but luckily there were no snakes and there was a break I the traffic.

Found this cache while on a solo six-day bicycle geo-tour around West and South Gippsland. I started by taking the train out to Crib Point, and then catching the ferry across to Cowes on Phillip Island. From there I stealth camped near BBQ shelters and dropped in on friends as I rode to San Remo, Wonthaggi, Inverloch, Fish Creek, Leongatha, Mirboo North, Mt Worth and Yarragon. This route took me along most of the Bass Coast Rail Trail and the Great Southern Rail Trail. I caught the train back to the city.
I made a bit of dill of myself, as it is difficult not to be seen getting this one during morning traffic. I'd left my bike on the Pathway, which in retrospect made me even more bizarre-looking wandering about wearing a fluoro bike helmet for no apparent reason. Oh well, I hope it stays safe. At least I took it well aside to get out the log and sign it.

Day 5 of wilco and red tag's Moto GP tour of Melbourne - MOTO GP DAY!!
We made a few finds along this road whilst letting the traffic clear after the race before heading back to Melbourne.

Nice easy one on the walk along the pathway after going to the MotoGP. Shame we cant keep caching but we have to go back to Tassie sometime
A cool container and just after making the find I saw my first and only wild kangaroo during my stay in Australia-cool!

While out doing a bit of work this one came up and surprisingly a pretty good example of how easy it is to make an easy and interesting hide.
B1 found it first and B2 was suitably impressed.
Well done hell and back.

So we were doing some touristic things at Phillip Island. Watching penguins parade and koalas just sitting in trees and it somehow happened that we figured we'd try to find 96 caches in one day after some of the caches of the day were successful. We planned on seeing the koalas and other animals and if we get 96 caches (a challenge in Finland) good, if not then we were just too touristic. It went pretty well to somewhere around cache #70 after which it began to be a bit dark. You know, pitch black. And only one flashlight and not even full batteries as when departing Finland we were not planning on doing that much of night caches. Well, @23:00 we were in Wonthaggi after "aborting" the railtrail for some coca cola (had to buy first) and some DNFs from urban(ish) caches and police started to ask what we were doing. Well that was easily solved and off we went for some more caches (6 short or likes) but during the last hour we got mainly DNFs and guess what. Another police patrol car stopped by to ask what we were doing. One more dnf after the polices went their ways but at 23:59 we had only 91 (if counted right) caches. And we decided to call it a day. (: Nice day it was. 150km of driving, 10+km of walking and ..
And to top of that day of 91 logged caches we did log all on wrong date (1.8.13) as that was the "fact" on first cache of the day and during the day there was no need to check the date. This was revealed on next day as we had already logged some on 1.8.13 with 2.8.13 and in the afternoon somehow realized that it is 1.8. that day. (:
For more "details" see the our first log of the day from GC:Cowes has one of these too! (GC33F1M)

It took a few minutes for our GPS to settle down in this location. Once it started to behave consistently, a quick find was made. The cache and it's contents were in good condition. This is our third find in the series - looking forward to others. TFTC hell+back.
Began this series on one of the wetter and colder mornings on our Phillip Island trip, was a very creative a fun cache drive by series fun for all ages which took us on a very grand tour of Phillip island to some areas of Phillip Island we had never seen before, another parking job, with a slightly longer journey to this one than expected, possibly due to irritable GPS, thanks hell + back for this series!
Cross the busy road to grab this one and there it was just sitting in its hiding spot TFTC
Bushed bashed a bit to find this hide. Enjoyed this cache container. TFTC hell+back
Our last morning here before heading home to Ballarat. The road was frantic, guessing its only like this on long weekends Thanks to hell+back for the cache.
A nice quick find here at the great coords, and, after a slight deviation on the return trip,
actually almost stepped on an echidna snuggled into a hollow.
Thanks again hell+back

Still finding these ones so all is good so far. Thanks for the different hides.
We found this cache on our May caching holiday to Phillip Island.
The area is really beautiful and we got on the bikes for over 50kms for the 4 days we were in the area which we would never have usually have done on a holiday before geocaching!
Thanks to the cache owners for the fantastic caches you have placed in this area of Victoria.
