Thanks for the adventure help when you come from the right angle

Over shot the parking waypoint without knowing as I parked in the reserve at the bottom. Climbed up from the beach and even looked inside those caves below. Wasn’t till I scrolled through past logs before knowing where I needed to be, thanks for the smiley

SPOILER: Cords slightly out (15m) and is NOT under the tree at all. Don’t go down to the bigger caves Smile in fact we had crawled past this spot three times and none of us saw it. It was the last time climbing out that I realised the rock didn’t match Smile

Nice stumps, though I wouldn't want to bowl on that pitch.

We checked out the listed parking point but we ended up parking across the road, and walked past the waypoint. A nice easy stroll to GZ where we tried to make the terrain harder thannit needed to be before regrouping and making the find.

Thanks for the cache!

This looked to be a challenge, and it turned out to be a very large one. Only realised this, once sitting in a big cave, reading logs. I usually do not read logs before i hunt a cache, it can spoil the experience sometimes. But i sure wish i did today. Another reason is that they are usually spur of the moment things. So i made the big mistake of following the shore, after parking at the community centre. I saw the road to the right, and said, betcha i need to go that way. But then didnt. The gate was even open, so icould of drove to within 50 metres of it. Oh well, after some very slippery rock climbing, i finally got to the level i needed to be, and soon had cache in hand. Boy oh boy, i earned every bit of that T2.5 TFTC.

Excellent spot and view. No ants. TFTC.

Bit of overgrowth (or perhaps my lack of skill)!

After putting the kayak back on the roof racks, a group of us made our way up to this for a game of cricket... I mean the cache.

Made this cache a lot harder than it should have been. We parked the car up a No through road and could not see any way to get to cache.Decided to go down to the park and navigate around the waters edge and attack it from there. 40mins later, sweating profusely and not in a very good mood we finally made it onto the pitch. Once there cache was located and made the easy way back. Made this a memorable cache. Fellow caches go to the way points for parking. It will be heaps easier. TFTC geo monkeys.

After some kayaking down on the water, we decided to head up the hill for this and a nearby puzzle. It was a pretty easy walk from the parking coordinates, and the cache was found about 15m NE from where my GPS was pointing. 'That's not a big stump' I said - maybe I should have read the description before! Smile TFTC!

After this morning's event and kayak paddle I joined the group to visit this cache and the Dragon's Jaw. It brought back memories of my find way back in 2014 and good to see it's still the original cache with the original logbook.

30-Jan-21
After a very pleasant paddle in the bay during the morning - the culmination of an event in the park - we had some snacks and were taking it easy when some of the others who had been there for the activities suggested going for a walk to find one or two more caches. This cache was on my list. Since the opportunity had now arising to go as a small group, we joined the party and took a very easy track to this cache. Fortunately, the Mighty Minions had been here before, so they could direct us to the path that led almost directly here. I'm glad we didn't need to approach like some others have tried.

Some fine wickets up here - a clever play on words. The co-ords were some 15 metres out, though, but that might have to do with some extra electro-magnetic interference in the area. Fortunately, the find was made quickly, and we could add our names to the log sheet.

There is a small hole in the bottom of the container. A little spider had opted to use this cache as a refuge, but it didn't bother us.

Found with Shaneo58 on this rainy sort of day hope we are heading the right way to stay dry. We certainly did this the hard way. First we tryed the little 'no ttough road' and luckily no cars in drive so could easily stay on the cont least we found thecreet, then went through the little park and followed a nice track around the waters edge, but this dissapeared and we needed to head up, a real bush bash on a fairly steep slope, then some cliff to overcome, a bit of a task when you are in the late 60's, making the terraign a 4-4.5 for us. at least we found the easier way back to the car. Made a quick find once GZ was located. Container ful of ants, the container has a small hole in the bottom for them to get in and out. So could do with a replacement container.
Log signed and cache replaced as found.

Took the Bush bashing and climbing option ; DO NOT try it. Bruised and battered 90 minutes later we got back to the car.
May take another way another time; maybe not!

Oh, NOW that I am adding a note I see that there is a parking spot suggested. [B)]

So ... I drove past the suggested parking spot, and past the "No Through Road" sign, hoping to find a place to park or at least somewhere to turn around. I found neither. Managed to get the car in a spot of bother on a sloped driveway. Being careful to avoid the garden I managed to get wheelspin and the car ended up backing into a power pole - doh! A very nice, friendly, and understanding resident came out of the house and we had a chat about the tricky driveway and how I could extricate my car. What an incredible person - she mentioned she was going out soon, and even suggested that if my car stayed stuck there she could always catch a taxi. She asked who I was visiting and I said I was geocaching (I think honesty is the best policy) and she said she was a bushwalker and had a friend that caches. I was very apologetic but she was so understanding. What a lovely person!

A couple more small movements and the car was again on the power pole, I only needed a few more cm and I would have been able to back past it. But the car was now stuck in place. Hmmm, what to do? I jacked up one corner of the car, balanced that on a hammer, and let the jack out. Gave the car a good shove and got the clearance from the pole I needed Big Grin . Very carefully backed up, got the car well positioned, then vroom vroom vroom powered it up and out the driveway with a few clanks. Woo hoo! Thankfully I didn't damage any part of the property, just a small mark on the telegraph pole, couple of small dings on the car, and bruised pride.

With sweat already on my brow, and the sun low, I thought I wouldn't test my luck further. I'll be back! Smile And - now I know where to park! Razz Didn't get near the cache, but thought I'd share my story. It's all good, all fun, all experience and life! Smile Cheers!

not sure why I have not done the caches in this area before. I think I thought it was going to be a harder walk than it was but I managed to get a park fairly close to the start of the trail and set of. It was a pleasant walk to GZ and the cache was found quickly with no problems , A good view from GZ . Thanks for the cache GeoMonkeys tnln replaced as found sl

A Queens Birthday weekend caching day from Sydney in the Woys. Almost a run out here. We parked at the suggested parking coordinates where the map showed a trail that we never spotted. Walked to the end of Woy Woy Bay Road and failed to locate a track. Down to Gordon Reserve to follow a track along the water’s edge. Lots of climbing over fallen branches plus a bit of shin blood. Got across from the opposite stumps, looked behind us and up the hill - nope, not enough bandaids in the kit to attempt it. Back to the car and found another way in. Oh wouldn’t it have been good to read previous logs first!! We recorded S 33 29.101 E 151 18.660. Off we went feeling a bit more confident now. And the stumps finally appeared. By this time the logs gave us an inkling of where to look. Sure enough we found it safe, dry but ant-ridden at S 33 29.171 E 151 19.037. What a challenge! SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek

Had my eye on this one for a while. Didn't pick the best line of approach but got there in the end. Dropped the catch at silly mid off but made up for it shortly afterwards. For a 9 year old cache, everything is in pretty good shape. Returned along a much easier path and was able to check on another cache in this area.

I made this one harder than it needed to be. Arrived at the "stumps" just on sunset and made my way to silly mid-off. Then I rushed around in ever widening circles, attempting to find the cache before being beaten by the rapidly approaching darkness. Returning empty handed to the starting point of my search, a place that I had passed at least 3 times already, there was the cache right in front of me. As they say, less haste, more speed.

Ok. This geocache was tricky for a few reasons.

1. Find the fire trail that is just past few houses on the spur road near the marked car park.

2. Don’t try and approach from the water. Tried and failed.

3. The coordinates are out by 10–15m. It’s closer and no need to go anywhere near the cliffs.

23-Sep-17
It was a quick walk up from the parking coordinates but took a while searching until we read through some logs about the coords being out. Then it was soon CIH. Surprised to realise when signing the logbook that the last finder was about a year ago. This was a great spot for the cache with wonderful views. TFTC

Yesterday I noticed my geocaching Karma is at 0.99. Big Grin Last time I looked it was only 0.8. Surprised
It seems the WORLD TEAM is catching up to me. Razz I can not let that happen. Wink
So a day of geocaching was in order. Cool
A bit of a search( and reading a few logs) before finding this one 20m away from the posted co-ords. Surprised All I can say is remember the name of the cache. Razz
Thanks for the cache.

I'd come close to this cache, unknowingly, about 5 years ago, but hadn't known about the easy access road. I'd come to pick up some GCA Geosportz points this time and had this one lined up for the triathalon.
The pitch seemed to be drying in the sun a bit today but the supersopper still has a big job ahead of it. In fact, I'd be looking for new grounds staff; they haven't got the stumps parallel at each end so it's going to take a lot of swing to get the ball to pitch straight.
The Garmin wanted me over the edge but before taking the big drop, I sat a safe distance back and read of some alternative coordinates. I went to key them in as a new WP but they were pretty much where the Garmin thought I already was. That could only mean one thing. I was sitting on top of the cache! Yep, found, signed and replaced without further ado. The container has a small hole but all seems well otherwise and I sat back and waited for the toss.
Thanks Geomonkeys.

On my way to DaPesky #2 and thought I'd do this one also. Once I'd bush bashed up the hill for 30m or so I came across the trail which led straight out to the stumps. I dare say that once I head back out it will also pop me straight out on the road somewhere :-S Keeping with the T rating I made a very quick find here. My GPS agrees 100% with Browngang's coords posted in a previous log. If you haven't been up here yet come and do so it's a fascinating spot, plus I am blessed with a lovely blue sky, still and warm winters day today. Been sitting here with CIH taking it all in for about 30 mins. TFTC GM, we really enjoy your caches and ur knowledge of the region is helping us discover places we deffo wouldn't have otherwise! Ok well now onto the dragon's jaw...

1st attempt tried the lower approach, then saw the big rocks. 2nd attempt tried the upper approach, but bailed after locating what the way down would mean. Best attempted by those with longer limbs and a head for heights. I probably would have been happier with the lower approach after all! Best to be aware of the big drops and the undergrowth if with children.

26-Jan-16
Initially tried approaching from a lower path, till I worked out there had been suggested parking so restarted there after a slog back uphill. I think the description of wet and uneven is correct but unnecessarily dissuading as these are prime high and dry views!
Had the phone suggesting GZ well and truly in the caves but as I pondered the way down and in, scouted edges and voila! All dry and well.
Moved a morose TB from NZ ( which I'd seen before) on.

Found!
Second time round and a message from the cache owner helped a lot.
The gate to the fire trail was open today so I could drive to within 30 meters of cache. You will want a vehicle with some clearance.
Left a few toys, a carabiner and a TB.
Thanks for the hint and the views!

Passing through the bay collecting up unfound caches with Opa-Bob this morning, I insisted we do this one too, but only after reassuring ourselves we wouldn't be bush bashing after the recent heavy downpours. With a trail leading us the way, it was simpler than first thought to get to the stumps (I also read the logs so knew access from the park/beach was crazy-stoopid) - once there, the cricket fan among us (not me!) explained how the silly positions worked, and the compass indicated a particular spot. Realising there was a cave below I traversed across the slippery deck to get myself there only to find nothing, so climbed back up to squiz further at the logs - only then reading that others had been where I was and found it on the way back up....I headed back down, just not as far and searched a little harder - becoming a little put off by the terrain I was now searching in, I was pleased to hear Opa-Bob call Bingo on this one from above, so gladly climbed back up to sign the log. Cache in good condition and full of geo-kid trinkets, but no geo-kids with me so no trades made today. TFTH GeoMonkeys, and Thanks for another great view here too Smile

Arriving at the stumps on the western end of the field, after an easy walk up from the parking area on Woy Woy Bay Rd, both Mumma-Kel's and my GPS told us to go over the cliff a bit. I let Mumma-Kel do that while I concentrated on possible hidey holes closer to the top. Eventually, I spied a likely spot disguised with SPOR and the cache was soon in hand. Now that I am back home, I have just seen the coords logged by earlier finders ... they may have made our search just a little easier, but it was a fun search nevertheless, even if the geo-dawg got a bit sick of it.

I'm just glad I don't field at silly mid off in your team Pesky ... I'm sure the umpire would have something to say about fielding there too!

TFTC GeoMonkeys and for the amazing view this field offers spectators.

Decided to walk along the beach way. Cords were off as we searched around. decided to read recent logs. And the moment we were on top we could see the cache.

14-Apr-14
Parked at park and walked along beach. Looked were cords said and thought we would back via top. Climbed the cave and found cache on our way out TFTC

23-Mar-14
Came in along the track for an easy walk to GZ. Using the coordinates from Browngang and Spikeymikey I found the silly mid off fieldsman and made a quick find. Thanks Pesky!

22-Feb-14
We also made the mistake of climbing up from water level. We found what could be called a cave near the GPS coordinates. Searched thoroughly but no sign of a cache. Stumbled across the cache while climbing back up. The description is definitely misleading.

09-Jan-14
I too was another one who didn't read the previous logs and attacked this from the beach. Searched in the cool caves but with no luck. Heard a wallaby bounding off nearby so went to see if I could find it and stumbled across the cache!! It was a fair distance from where my GPS had it though.. From there it was an easy walk along the track from the top down to the road.
TFTC cheers

12-Oct-13
found island cache yesterday. as there was a postage stamp left here by BigTrev and both members of the hens and mens wanted a stamp each. the hens and mens dragged dad up to find this one in VERY hot conditions. and then there was NO postage stamp :/ so we took the turtle instead Smile and left a swap Smile

04-Aug-13
Found this easily as my muggle sister-in-law who lives close by had stumbled across it some time ago and wasn't sure what it was until I explained; so I'm claiming this as a find! Heavy going climbing to the GZ but worth it for the views. In the cache is a code cylinder which I couldn't figure out (maybe someone can enlighten me) and there is nothing on the geocache site or previous logs to explain. A bit of a mystery but nevertheless a good hide. I left my trademark Australian postage stamp in the cache - there was nothing else in there. [8)]

Another quick cache after school before mum got home :p

Approached the cache from the beach which was not the smartest but liked the climb. I did enjoy playing air cricket in the bush which set me on the perfect course. Some big ants had taken up residence under the container but did not get bitten so all good. LNTN TFTC

Found while out and about with my muggle brother, who I'm sure I've converted after this little geomission. Took a while to find, once we'd spread out a bit. GeoBro found it with the phone GPS some 20 meters away. What a great spot and worth the effort to get here.
Cheers from Browngang.

I came in from the very end of Woy Woy Bay Rd. It was pretty hard going & I figured there must be an easier way. Up on the ridge I soon saw the track.

Then I went and took strike, taking centre and assessing the field placements. Certainly a wicket that needs a bit of gardening. Wandering over to silly mid-off I made a quick find. Apparently I got run out and so ensued a long walk back to the pavilion, but I took the easy way.

Thanks GeoMonkeys.

15-Jan-13
Abandoned before I even started thanks to several large angry hornets

15-Jan-13
After being detered by then first route by hornets, I tried an approach from the reserve at the bottom on the hill. Lots of Bush bashing and rooting up of lantana but eventually made it to the top. Great spot. Dropped a TB and a camera prism and a Chinese clone, took a badge. Tftc

30-Dec-12
Big GrinA lovely bush walk after Oz had won the cricket, took us to GZ where we enjoyed searching for the cache. We were very wary of the steep drops nearby especially with geokids in tow. We were glad to know that we weren't stumped too much as we found the clue a bit misleading...found with Gourmetgazelle and Close-by. TFTC

30-Dec-12
Another find for geohusband who is not even a cricket fan. We really enjoyed the walk through the bush with 3 year old giving commentary from Grandad's shoulders. The view was fabulous and the walk back to the cars was at a much slower pace because the chatter-box had to use her own legs. By the time we got back to the car we were all feeling very tired and looking forward to getting home. Thanks GeoMonkeys, Shockers and Gourmetgazelle.

I had no idea where to park and how I was going to get to GZ for this cache today. I began my adventure from Gurdon Reserve, slowly making my way around the foreshore, occasionally blocked by thorny Lantana - my favorite NOT. The mountain side got steeper and I wasn't looking forward to a steep ascent, but the thick lantana disappeared quite quickly and some incredible large caves or overhang appeared. I had a quick look at few of them before heading cachwards. Soon enough some very large power poles appeared way above me at the plateau. A nice easy path was followed to the top and the cache found without too much trouble. Nice views up here to boot. Thanks for bringing me here!

Came to Woy Woy to round up a few caches as we hadn't done any in this area yet.
After walking around the shore and dodging hundreds of soldier crabs we attacked this one from below. A bit of a climb but GPS would not settle on any one spot so after a lot of clambering over, around and down rocks, not to mention quite a few times being almost tripped by the many creepers, I decided to play it safe and give it a miss.

Quite an adventure! With members of our party becoming lost and stuck and out of contact, bruised, scraped, and adorned with spider webs, and finally reunited, we'd had our fill of that particular location. We decided to head home.

And then geo-granddad gave a shout. In the final seconds, he'd found the cache.

15-Jan-12
After geosis and I walked around the watersedge to no avail, we read some previous logs and walked in via the road. Had researched silly mid off at home, so found this one straight away. Now to enjoy the view!

02-Jan-12
After paddling over from 'Murphys Cottage' (GC13C21), this was another on our to-do list as we had seen the big stumps from the water when we paddled over. After bush-bashing up through the bush, with the help of a 'spider-stick', we found the track that led to the big stumps. We had no idea where the silly mid off position for a right hand batsman was so we just used the coords. Soon found cache and also some pretty cool caves not far from cache. Thanx GeoMonkeys

12-Dec-11
Liked the spot where cache was hiding. Walk was very good.

11-Dec-11
I had been to this area a few times before while doing another cache so I knew a couple of spots to park and how to get to the stumps easily from both of them. I decided to park at the furthest away and walk up over the top of the hill to GZ. After parking and heading off I changed my mind and decided to follow the contours around the southern side of the hill to GZ. This increased the terrain rating quite a bit and made a a good workout but was a great adventure.

Once I made it to GZ I found it already populated by seaeagles1997, Missluckie and their team. After pleasentaries were exchanged we began looking far and wide for the cache and eventually found it (not by me) at about the spot we were at when we met.

Thanks.

Enjoyed the walk going up to GZ. Found the stumps no worries but when we arrived we searched around for a few minutes when suddenly gd_____ appeared from behind the rocks. After chatting for a while we kept looking. After a quite amount of time we eventually heard the call 'found it'. Nice cache and good hide but the coordinates were a bit off. Left the easy rider TB. Even geodog enjoyed this cache!!

Heed the advice as to where to park! It leads directly to the track up to GZ. We didn't, and walked around the foreshore, and clambered up to GZ, and just to add insult to injury, we didn't find the cache, grrrr...

A word of warning DON'T ATTEMPT THIS ONE FROM THE WATER. The Headchef made one of mine a terrain 5 and I did the same for this. I parked the car at said playground and wandered off into the bush near the water. After a while the GPS said 75m up the hill. DOH!!!!. Got up the top and found the cache fairly quickly.

Made this hard for myself, took me three goes to work out the best access, and as usual the point of entry is one I would never have thought of or probably found if not geocaching. Thankfully the brown snake the Fish's left me was nowhere to be seen, I managed to see enough snakes on my last cache of the day as it was. Took lanyard, left memory stick and fire brigade patch.

As usual we had been making this cache much more difficult than it needed to be. While searching today, a bit straighter than mid off and not over the cliffs where I crawled last time, MrsFish soon spotted the location. On returning to the stumps I saw a 1m brown snake lying on a rock close in near the silly mid-off position, and the players left the field immediately. TN, left the snake for the next cacher. Thanks to the GeoMonkeys for some advice and bringing us here to admire the wildlife.

I have taken guard against Pesky at the other stumps but never batted on this side. The GPS wanted me to jump off cliffs and GZ was not in a silly mid off position anyway. A long search in the right direction did not give us anything, and not knowing how far to look we abandoned. Only find was a really nice leech which was not interested in our blood. I'll watch the logs before returning.
