Today we came to grab a couple of lonely caches along the riverThis was my first official stop right after parking the carThe day looked sunny but the start was chilly! About 6 degrees. So rugged up and retrieved the first logThanks TE We had a great day today, and managed to get a few of your caches
Got lucky as Muggles were just packing up as we arrived, quickly found, signed and replaced ??
Parked the trusty Ford Fiesta in this carpark, where wed agreed to meet Roddy C and co for a day of caching along the western edge of the ACT border.Wasnt that a tricky little hide! Certainly put these fat fingers to work but managed to get to the log, sign away and replace as found. Thanks!
I'm heading back to Canberra Park after a day on the Brindabella 4WD Tour, another great tour on during the [Capital GeoBash](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC9PNFB_capital-geobash) and stopped here to add one more smiley to my tally. This was a lovely spot to visit and another place I would never have seen if not for geocaching. Thanks for find #5950TNLN
We hit Canberra on a cache assault with Alansee, maccamob, McLookers, Micaparamedic, Moonb1, Muzza , Rabbitoh and Pprass Drive
We were picking up caches around the Cotter Dam area. We did enjoy this drive and the hides and enough room for two cars at most locations.
The sun had broken through the fog by now and the scenery was great
With this many eyes looking the most of the caches were found quite quickly and the log book signed.
To save room in the Logs signed as "Vic1"
Many thanks for the cache

Second day of Canberra caching. Signed log as Vic 1 - Alansee, Muzza, McLookers, Maccamob, Micaparamedic, Rabbito, Pprass and Team Crackers.
Found with Moonb1, McLookers, Maccamob, Muzza, Pprass, Team Crackers, Rabbitto et al on a day caching in the Canberra Area.
We found this cache on Day 2 of our Vic1 Canberra Run in company of Muzza, McLookers, Micaparamedic, Alansee, Moonb1, Maccamob, Team Crackers and Pprass. Today was our Uriarra and Cotter Loop. Thanks from D B-A
Second day of group caching in Canberra. All caches signed as Vic1. Found in a large group consisting of McLookers, Micaparamedic, Alansee, Moonb1, Rabbitto, Team Crackers and Pprass.
Thanks to Tankengine for the cache.
Thanks to Tankengine for the cache.
Found at 12:42 PM in the company of the Vic 1 team
Alansee worked out a route for us to do today which included some very challenging AL's and we ended up at an event where the locals were to meet us! A big day that showed the beauty of the ACT and surrounds after the fog finally lifted! Most of the caches were way under rated though - nearly all of them were just a D/T of 1.5/1.5 no matter how hard they were to get to or find them - not very imaginitive in that sense.
Thanks to Tankengine

Found by torchlight after a 4WD session with Mulga Joeys. TFTC! 30 March 2023 20:13
I vaguely recall a quick attempt at this at night in 2015, after a walk completed in the darkness. Searching was cut very short by a tired whinger complaining (despite sitting in a car), so I didn't get to complete a search. I also recall spots where I didn't want to stick a bare hand.
Today we wandered past, assuming muggles would ruin things. The coast was actually pretty clear & GHJ spotted the goods immediately. Still clear? Yep, GHJ easily grabbed it, then we had to wait for a lady occupying a nearby cubicle before replacing.
That was easy

Decided to check on this today, and discovered it was missing! Cache has been replaced in a slightly different spot. GOOD TO GO!!!
Had a good long search here this afternoon to no avail. Had the help of Turtle284 but he found it a fair while ago and his memory was hazy. Hoping to find it on a future visit
Too many muggles yesterday (OK, there was only one but they were right at GZ!) so back today to grab this and more caches at the Cotter. This was a pretty straightforward find early on a weekday morning with no muggles in sight. Thanks Tankengine.
Stopped on the way home after Sherwood forest for a wander about, and to boil the camp kettle for a cup of coffee and tea. I am waaaaay to short for this sort of hide, so got the muggle hubby to step up to the task and stretch. Also walked over to check out the weir... nope, not today, but a really interesting piece of infrastructure. TFTC TankEngine
Found while exploring around the area after a nearby event. I spotted the cache easy enough but delayed grabbing it until some muggles carried on. Luckily the area was quite quiet so there was nobody around when I got the CIH. TFTH
TFTC I was busily looking at the other end than spotted something. great hide with a touch of ingenuity.
Found after a search of the surrounds, avoiding a particular section due to park rangers. Eventually grabbed and signed. TFTC
Haven’t been to the picnic area for years but picked a good day with no one around in the afternoon.
Nice quick find and log .
Thanks to Tankengine.

Maybe should now be Allocasuarina cache... look that up! I should have mentioned this.
Found on a nice loop with Tank Engine. The things you learn caching! Many thanks
Thanks to Tankengine and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!

This was very sneaky but I did not give up.. rather hard for the shorter sized people of this world
Driving out to the Cotter and Lees Creek area for some caches with Marmaduke Rothschild. Happy to find this one after a DNF a few years back. TFTC TE, a sneaky hide.
I've tried the walk up from Kambah Pool, but it is simply too long to do the whole thing in a day and go look for caches... it would be 24 kilometers there and back! At best I got about halfway before and turned back. Now, I've gone and done the same from the other end, driving to Casuarina sands and heading down from there.
I managed to find nearly every cache on the route, with only one DNF and one abandoned since I thought it too dangerous to try alone.
A good walk and satisfying to finally have the rest of this trail done!
. . .
Casuarina Cache: Fortunately the place was deserted when I looked for this one, I can see how it would impossible if there were folk about! The hardest part was not finding it but retrieving it; someone had placed it somewhere that even dextrous fingers could not easily reach. When I returned it I made sure it was invisible from an ordinary view, but a bit less of a sprain to retrieve.

Found with GrimRaider on a drive out to the Cotter. Cache in good condition and glad G was with me to make the find. TFTC
We stopped here for a look as we had heard that the area had been done up. It certainly has been improved from when we were last here about 10 years ago.
The cache took a few minutes to locate and then nearly needed some acrobatics and a long stretch for Mrs Shifter to extract.
We can see why there have been a number of DNF's.
Thanks for the hide Tankengine.

Tiding thing up and finally getting around to logging my DNFs
No find for us here today
No find for us here today
Decided to make sure the cache was OK, and replaced the logsheet while I was here. Old logsheet attached. Good to go.
Could not find it getting tied after caching all day will return some other time
Third time lucky with this one. Past two times were thwarted by those using the bbq.
Finally found years later . Difficultly is more like a 3 when you are missing an important physical attribute needed and also GZ for us each time was out by approx 3m making the options for hidy holes quite numerous. Thx for the challenge - we think. TFTC Tankengine.
Been here a few times, and always came away with nothing. Mainly due to muggles, so this time I drive past here early in the morning and was lucky. Also with a hint from TheSkype I made the find. Tftc.
Top hide, Tankengine. Good one. I'm out after today's cache, with the GeoSchnauzers. It's overcast. Not raining yet. Sigh. No dogs allowed here, bad luck GeoSchnauzers. There's nobody except me here, and almost no traffic. I was able to search at leisure. This was just as well, as this one took some finding. What's that I can feel? A spider? Nah, A cache!!! Thanks mate.
Wednesday 18 October 2017 - a glorious warm cloudless Spring afternoon in the mid 20s out to drive Nonna around with MuggleHusband to keep her entertained and occupied. Found 2 caches (1 trad & 1 multi) and 2 DNFs but not before putting in the time to search.
Although there were muggles around I was still able to undertake some searching however with GZ bouncing about the place I didn't have a great chance to narrow down the search. I will be back sometime soon.

Quick find and easy climb. I'm a bit cautious now about climbs by my own since damaging my shoulder in a near disastrous fall, but this is over water so soft landing at worst I figured. So up i went and signed. Lovely spot. Tftc
Heard many things about this cache. Fortunately not all of them were true. i.e. I found it. TNLNSL TFTC.
I have tried for this one many times but found that this spot is too attractive to muggles. Today, I had the place to myself. And although GPS reception at the location was poor, extrapolation from the open area worked. TFTC
Found while on a cotter run with Froggycache
Argh. These old chestnuts..
I looked and looked and didn't want to put my hand anywhere where I couldn't see them.. FC put his hand somewhere and found it.
Hint is confusing, maybe an acronym i'm not sure of
At any rate, TFTC TE!

A caching raid of the Cotter area with Andrewbt this afternoon.
Typically this type of hide is a simple grab, but the local architecture quickly dismisses that idea. LOTS of potential hiding places, and no easy way of seeing all the possibilities. We discussed the meaning of the hint, which otherwise escaped us. Summoning up some blind faith, I reached in and eventually found it.

We were lucky and had the area to ourselves. A quick scan of the area and we spotted the nicely hidden cache. TFTC!

Dew to the cold weather, this area was void of Muggles.
I can see through the warmer months, this might be tricky to retrieve.
I made the find, whilst BonEm dealt with the signing duties.

Found with Lpud on an interesting afternoon of caching in the local area. We have had a very lucky run today. TFTC
Found by Mary & David at 1307. The Murrumbidgee meandered lazily by, and the whole area belonged to us today. Couldn't imagine how you could do this during weekends with tourists and picnickers about. Such a beautiful place. Found it in good condition after a short search. Our thanks to Tankengine.
With dty73 & aquilus1 spent an hour searching high & low. Decided to head back to the car without any cache as it was midnight. As we walked to the car we looked at one another & decided "one more try". Dty73 drove the car up to a spot closer the facility & it was all hands on deck until the cache finally gave up its log. Feeling very satisfied we returned the cache back to its hide. It certainly was a stretch. Kutgw
This took Aquilus1, Youban and I ages looking for this one. We had an idea of where it was, but just couldn't see it. We were just about to head off when a previous log gave us a hint and so we *extended* our search and finally found it! Would have hated going to bed not finding it. Tftc Tankengine, this tested our geoskills.
After a hot day nothing better than heading out in the cool of the night for a bit of caching. With Youban and dty73 after the previous straight forward finds we were not expecting this to prove so damm difficult! We persisted and pondered and searched and eventually it was called past midnight and time to head home. On reading an older log downloaded into the gps on the way back to the car it sparked a new interest that at a stretch was likely to reveal what we were searching for. So we return for one final look and Youban, dty73's mum made the perilous and somewhat gravity defying retrieve. A sigh of relief all round that we were heading home on a find and not a dnf that would have us all lying awake in frustration!!! Thanks for the challenge Tankengine!
Ok, a bit late logging this one!
The family met down at Casuarina for a brekkie BBQ. No one else was around. I sent Hound Pup (who may or may not log this cache) and his cousin in search of this one. I had looked for it previously on a Lost Girls excursion, but hadn't found it. A tip and 10 min looking saw me grab the sneaky little thing and sign the log, then it was back to the eggs, bacon and tomatoes for brekkie.
Thanks for placing the cache TE.

Thankfully not too muggley today, so with AngelG27 and Fitzy_1965 running interference, I managed to grab the cache. Great little picnic location!

Out with the twin terrors today. We only had a quick look, but this one defeated us today. Saw a nasty looking huntsman though......yeeew. TFTC - we will be back another day.
Awesome-ingly sneaky one this! Carefully examined GZ, then thought through likely areas after a cursory review of the area. Reading logs helped a lot so reached into a couple of spots before my fingers grabbed the little blighter. Great little hide and thanks again Tankengine.
Time for another geomission with Specimen X. She wanted to test out her new GeoJeep, and I wanted a couple of higher T rated caches, so our interests coincided perfectly! We headed off the bitumen on a perfect Canberra autumn morning and had an awesome time, finding 18/18 caches attempted. back by dark - just - we had to stop ourselves from finding "just one more". Thanks to all the cache owners for their caches, and to Specimen X for her fab company today!
This really was the last cache of the day! Appropriate to finish as we started - with a Tankengine cache! Last time I was here, it was muggle central, but today the last muggles drove out as we drove in - perfect timing. SpecimenX had already found this one, but handily remembered where it was. It was a fairly good stretch for me, so she must have been close to falling when she found it! Love those extra strong magnets. Thanks Tankengine. Now time for a shower and some ice on that sore knee

#1205 I joined my brother for a BBQ after I suggested we sit right near GZ. Gave me all the time and opportunity to have a good look for this hidden gem, after a no find over 1 year ago. After searching high and low, I finally found it. Nice hide, easy when you know where to look. Thanks tankengine.
Half a day trip up to the Cotter mainly for a swim in the river on a cool summers day The place was almost deserted due to the cooler weather and predicted storms, however we were lucky and it didn't rain a single drop until we left!
This cache was a bit of a challenge. Took us a while to find and we almost gave up! It is completely concealed from vision. Eventually, somehow my friend seemed to pull off a great manoeuvre and had the cache in his sight. He turned this cache into at least a 4 terrain the way we got it!
Signed the cache and replaced TFTC Tankengine

Another one done. Yay! I've recently completed a 4 month streak, so now I'm just enjoying the ad hoc cache, especially when it helps break up my time when I travel for work.
I love the challenge of the geocache cache hunt - read the notes, decipher the cache requirements, and go searching for the hide. This is an amazing world wide game of hide and seek. I love it!
Thanks go to Tankengine for placing this cache and maintaining it. It's a great contribution to the Geocaching community and much appreciated. I enjoyed finding this one with Jackson Lightning. It took a while, but a scramble to the top soon resulted in a cache. This cache was another "Found it" for me. TFTC! Cheers. [Blue]Jump Pilot[/Blue]

On the way to the long distance event of the ACT mountain bike champs at Pierces Creek Forest. I stopped here hoping it was muggle free. A couple of weeks ago, I passed by mid afternoon and it was packed. Today I did have the place to myself, thankfully, as it took me a few minutes to zero in on the cache. TFTC.

We must have eyed this cache off at least 3 times over the last year as we have driven by. Always, with people enjoying the area, it was not worth the risk to come and ferret around this popular place on weekends.
Today-being a Friday, it was totally quiet, and we had the place all to ourselves. We were able to make a thorough and logical search of the area, and within about 10 minutes, had the cache in hand.
Mr Domsky did the signing duties, and then it was back to the car to explore the area some more.
Thanks Tankengine,

Glad to have got this one early as we know this place can be packed at times. For us it was a quick grab by Pagan with noone around. Then we headed off to Weird weir and Casuarina cascades but we definitely weren't prepared for Weird weir so will have to return in summer!!! Thanks Tankengine
First cache for the afternoon and a lovely spot to visit. Spent some time after signing the log teaching Sir Maxy how to skim rocks, but he was more interested in just throwing rocks instead. TFTC Tankengine.
I tried for ages once to try and get this one and failed. I even took lots of photos where I couldn't reach but just couldn't spot it. Today I was back but with my geokids. I was talking about getting one on my shoulders but before I even had a chance one of my monkey geokids did a pull-up and back flip and was on the ceiling for a quick retrieve. TFTC Tankengine.
I am back out here today after dropping my middle daughter off at the nearby scout camp for a leadership course. I wanted to return to see this lovely area during the day after being out here on Thursday night doing some night caching. This one was found quickly, thanks Tankengine.
A free tip for future seekers, this was a two person job to find this: my sister ended up standing on my shoulders for this one. So given this, we found the rating for both the difficulty and the terrain probably punch above their listed weight: I'd love to see a "small child" get this one unassisted, let's put it that way.
A clever hide, and a methodical search pays off.
Plenty of muggle activity around this one.

Deciding to take the geo-truck for a caching 4wd adventure today with allrounder and Shadow! Between our last find and this one I managed to get some 'fun in' with the truck. Found a couple of other people out and about going for 4wd. They asked if I was interested in being shown a great little place to get the car dirty (a good size dam). Well of course I was up for that. We spent a bit of time playing in the mud before heading towards Bullen Range. I'd taken the truck up along there about 18 months ago and knew there was a great, steep track to get the beast up! It was a bonus that Shadow! hadn't found a few of the caches up along the range so that was a good excuse to go up there.
After having my fun we headed back down and home. Passing by this one allrounder pointed out we should stop and look for this cache. When we arrived there were a few muggles up in the car park but they just kept to themselves and didn't really take notice of us. After a short time they left and the real search began. In the end it was Shadow! That made the spot and allrounder managed to retrieve the container.
Seventh find for me for the day.

After meeting up with a fellow 4WD enthusiast and driving through a muddy dam in Pierces Creek Forest a few times, we drove up along the top of Bullen Range so Shadow! could find a couple of caches before we called past this one on the way home.
There were some muggles there when we first arrived but they were packing up. After they left we got stuck in the search, using all the tools we had. Shadow! eventually spotted the well hidden container after about 15mins or so.
Thanks again Tankengine!

All was going well until many muggles arrived all at once. ABORT MISSION! RETREAT!
I know when to hold back and leave it for another day. This was one of those moments.

Heading further afield with Noikmeister and zt07 today however as we had arrived at the designated meeting place ahead of schedule there was time for a bit of additional caching. zt07 arrived shortly thereafter and three sets of eyes were put to use. I was erring toward the correct location but thankfully Noikmeister (significantly more blessed in the height department than the rest of us) got on top of the situation and spotted the cache. That was the easy bit - the dismount was possibly harder - or it certainly looked harder to me!
Batgirl and I arrived a few minutes before ZT07 at our rendezvous point before heading further west, so we started to have a look for this one. Being 8am on a public holiday the place was deserted. After a while Zt07 turned up and we all looked together. It wasn't until I used my long limbs to get a "new perspective" that I spotted the cache and plucked it out. I'm sure I had felt there from below!
Thanks TE (you'll get used to this).

Out caching with Wilbert67 out Cotter way today, nice picnic spot, soon has log signed , no problems with muggles at this time. TFTC
Looked up in the roof thing but didn't find it. All we found was a piece of wire with a circle in it but that didn't do much good. Can someone give me a hint?
Several months ago I walked north from Kambah along the Murrumbidgee to clear out caches. To-day I started at the quarry/mine near Camp Cottermouth and headed south before returning and hunting for caches around the Cotter.
This was a DNF in February 2014, however to-day found it in only 20 minutes of looking. Very disgusting some-one had been having a BBQ with frankfurts, there were many frankfurts left hanging from the rafters and smeared around the building; the crows were happy though. Hard to find as I went from one picnic table to the next and at each table the GPS said to go back to the other table! TFTCs.

We were in Canberra for a spot of kayaking as the river was running nicely this weekend. Today we were paddling from Cotter down to Uriarra - a nice easy run. We were early enough that there were no muggles around enabling a pretty quick find. Nice spot Cotter.
I was out here today with boot65 waiting to meet with a few others, so I grab a few around me and this was one. Thanks
