Found by The Empire + HIn the afternoon, we decided to take a drive south of Bright, venturing into the rolling hills of the logging forests. The road wound its way through dense eucalyptus forests, the towering trees forming a canopy above us as we made our way deeper into the landscape. The occasional scent of pine filled the air, mingling with the fresh, earthy smell of the forest floor. The hillsides, dotted with patches of recently felled trees and others still standing tall, reflected the ongoing work of the logging industry. Despite the activity, there was a rugged beauty to the area, with the undulating hills and deep valleys providing dramatic views at every turn. The late afternoon sun filtered through the trees, casting long shadows and giving the forest a quiet, almost mysterious feel.We paused at a few high points along the drive, looking out over the vast expanse of forest stretching towards the distant mountain ranges. It was a peaceful way to spend the afternoon, surrounded by nature and the striking contrast between the wild forest and the traces of human activity scattered throughout the landscape. We added a Koala postcard to the mix. Thanks for the cool cache AussiePuschaks, favourite point added.-M

On our way home from a weekend in Bright and took the time to drive up to gz to look for this hide. Great views at gz and after a quick search was soon filling in a postcard. Thanks for the cache, a clever idea.

I've been in town for awhile now, so saw the quaint little village bloat over the course of just a few days to tens of thousands of outta town holidaymakers here for Easter.Living even more remotely, at wandi coming into town today was polar opposites. The streetwalk a kaleidoscope of colour and activity. So I had a look on my geomap and let it guide me away, and in this case up.Having set out on the canyon walk along the creek, I left it to climb up to this letterbox cache as a further adventure towards nature.Earning my terrain I bushbashed up through the pine forest using criss-crossing animal pads and water channels. Coming out eventually to the gravel road I could've just followed around on instead, but where's the sense of adventure in that. My favourite type of cache found easily at gz and I sat a while reading the postcards and stuff. Signed the logbook then sat in the shade nearby and had lunch a while.A fun journey to this outta the way rare letterbox. It turns out there's just six letterbox caches with this combination in all of australia. I checked and this is the first time I've found a letterbox with this d/t. Thanks Aussiepuschaks for choosing to hide a letterbox cache up here with such a great view. In the photo you can see the changing colours of bright, dark red is the main drag.

I visited on a lovely sunny and warm Australia day. Happy Aussie day!.A very enjoyable walk up from the edge of town and great views at the location. I passed a few 4wders on the way, but decided walking was way more pleasant.Glad to see a ammo can and a good selection of post cards. One filled out for good measure. Photo attached.A favorite point for an enjoyable walk, great outlook, and ammo can to boot. Thanks!

22 January 2024. Hi there AussiePuschaksWish you were here... WinkI'm travelling and caching with Jack and Purrfect Di. Day three of our road trip. Don't recommend wasp stings. Bloody hand swelling again where they got me yesterday! No other beasties today though, just a few wild blackberries attacked me! The weather has been fine here. I hope it is good for you back home. This was an onteresting location. We missed the sign for the turnoff, and took the next instead, wandering through the forest until we got back to where we needed to be. Nice views. We took some pictures. We'll make a slide show of our trip. Best wished and safe travels, from Mattycat, Purrfect Di, and Jackthemonkey. Thank you AussiePuschaks for the cache hide and ongoing care and maintenance Cool---------------- Wink ----------------------PS we also took and stamped a postcard... but where to send it to??? PPS - you get a fav point for no mint tins. In fact it looked like a real cache!!! --- In a dangerous world filled with rusty old mint tins and solid lumps falling from trees - - - a cache a day keeps us agile... sort of Wink--------Caches are logged using the resources of gsak, garmin, and androids, occasionally AI too! (And a little rubber stamp Wink ) Work gets in the way - and some may take longer to log than others due to mixed technology and need for sleep! The skill and talent of some Zenior Zombies helps, and maybe a spot of luck too [:o)]----------Cache carefully and make sure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on Wink Clean as you go and cache the countryside Big GrinBig thanks to those placing quality caches out and about around our country areas, in nice safe places and containers especially! - it keeps our game fun for all CoolOf course we do appreciate if you actually did read all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, or so we've been told! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Wink Maybe if I worked out where it is I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and perhaps we can put an end to these long logs !!! Maybe not though - as someone actually did read to the end and alerted me to just a project GC badge that requires long logs [:o)] Well at least it's not as bad as finding a mint tin! Did you get that... stop putting out rusty mint tins, just stop it, now!!! TwistedRazz C'est fini... For now... ... until tomorrow! This was different and such good fun. We drove as far as possible and then searched for the cache where a Canberra postcard was selected as we always have fun there.Completed all necessary requirements and then took in the views. A FP awarded. Thanks for the fun AussiePuschaks

Dear AussiePuschaks,Sorry for not writing as often as I should have. I have been enjoying an extended break in Bright, sampling all the cafes (Ginger Baker has become my favourite), as well as a visit to Ringer Reef winery - a very civilised way to spend an extended lunch.Today I visited the final cached lookout in the area up Tower Hill Road. A steep climb on my bike, but well worth it. Having had the Google Magic Eraser eye surgery, I was able to enjoy the full vista sans power lines.Chudles.

Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".

So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.

What a beautiful and stunning spot. Took the 2wd as far as it could handle, then walked the rest of the way. Even walked up the steeper hill further to get a better photoshoot away from the wires. Absolutely fantastic. TFTC

I’ve past by the turn off for the tower lookout many times since I started caching a decade ago. I’ve always been headed somewhere else and decided I didn’t have time for a detour.
Well today with nothing planned I saw the GeoVic post about rescuing a TB in this cache to help it get over to Sweden, so I jumped at the opportunity to get out before the deluge arrived for the next couple of days.

Cache and TB found and post card written.

After spending the night in Porepunkah and geowife and I set our sites on caching around Bright for the day.

What a great way to start our morning, beaut views of Bright and Mt Beauty in the background. With just a touch of zapping from the power lines!

Cache found in good condition seems the original pines have been cut down.

Awesome spot tftc ! FP from us.

BF loves 4wd, geocaching not so much but when I say there is one and we get to 4wd there he is always keen. Location and creativity get you a FP! TFTC.

22-Apr-22
this cache was tackled early
the sun just rising over the mountains
morning chill in the air
with a date and a time for brunch in town below, we had a hunger for a walk to develop a hunger

so the little hatchback was left down by the flat asphalt and the inclined clay was tackled with bootlaces tied
a bit of huffing
a bit of puffing
a bit of slipping over the inclined clay
and we were up through the pines
the postcard was signed to the clack clack of overhead power lines really adding to the romance of the scene

this is really a marvellous view of bright
the trees turning autumn colours, the mountain background:
picture postcard perfect

Great views from here. Pine trees have all been chopped down. Nice to see an ammo box. Left a TB.

In NE Victoria for the Wangaratta Mega and I headed up to the mountains for some special caching business. Having bumped into some friends from near home I stayed in Bright for the night. This cache looked interesting and didn't disappoint. Thanks for the cool views.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022

Dear Aussiepuschaks,
I have been meaning to come back up here for close to nearby 4 years pining for a postcard. Every time I drive past I say we need to turn off, yet somehow we have not. Today I had teenager with me and I decided it was time to get up there. My choice of cars was not the best, I should have taken hubby's 4WD, but made the decision the jallopy Tarago would be ok.

It was a stinker of a day. Sun blaring, not a hint of breeze to be felt anywhere. But we made it to the top. I think the suspension is ok. Teenager stayed in the car as I made the short walk to GZ. She joked that I should put my tin foil hat on as the towers were buzzing like crazy here. Did I mention how hot it was today? I was cooking standing there on top writing my postcard to you. I chose the happy colourful one you so kindly supplied. I filled all the blank spaces on the card. Cool stamp.

A few cars came and went, none of them fellow cachers, just tourists taking in the view, which by the way was spectacular. Thank you for giving me a reason to come up here again. It was time for me to scoot back to my air con filled car. What a great way to spend the first day of the new year 2022.

Took TB "Benjamin" and Dropped TB "Captain Rodney's Tag" in exchange.

OSHFAM

PS. This also nicely filled an empty box on my D/T grid

Quick check, replace postcards and drop travel bugs. All good to go

We took our 4wd to the car park. Once all clear we went to GZ for a quick found. Thanks for the view.

During our holiday road trip in the high country victoria. It was a very nice and surprising trip in this part of the Australian Alps. Some highlights were the Mt Bogong, Mt Feathertop also called " Queen of the Alps", Mt Buffalo and Mt Buller.

04-Dec-21
This has been a target on all my trips to Bright but just never happened. So today I drove up the track - all good in the Kluger but wouldn’t like this in the wet. Parked and enjoyed the view and wandered up the 4WD track. Cache quickly spotted - pine trees under the powerline have been trimmed - the trimmers even signed the log. Nice concept and glad to have this as 3999.

Thankyou for putting a cache up here to find. The cache was quite exposed and a lot of the small pine trees have been cut down. I covered the container over as best I could
Favourite point from me

Finally made it up here for a short walk and enjoying the views. I suspect the cache hide has been somewhat mutilated by a recent harvest and/or planting. Thanks for the hide!

We were heading towards Bright with Brad reminiscing about cycling along these roads during 3Peaks events when we spotted a chance to head off the bitumen to do this one. We didn’t need the full capabilities of the LC200 despite the quick climb up. Enjoyed the view. Filled in a postcard.
TFTC Aussiepuschaks Smile

Brad&Janet are on a two week trip from Adelaide to the Victorian High Country. While this is not primarily a caching trip there are a few specific targets along the way. Including a potentially challenging unloved cache not visited for quite a few years.
Brad has ridden his bike through the area a couple of times while doing the Three Peaks Challenge, and is looking looking forward to exploring by 4WD this time.
On the way home the plan is to spend some days in and around Clunes so Janet and her sister can research a few of their ancestors who lived there in the mid 1800s. Brad may take the opportunity to visit the Ballarat Geotour while the research is happening.

Bit of bush bashing to get to it but we got it

Sneaky little spot, sniffed out by the geodog. Best geocache container we’ve seen in a while.

Logbook filled, no postcard used
Left our new “calling” card

09-Feb-21
After having a great night in Harrietville it was time to head home on the last day of our 10 day break hoping to collect a few labs along the way as well as other caches that popped up on the screen.

We spotted this one as we were leaving Bright and thought that it was very similar to one that Biggle Bear had out many years ago in Gundagai, only in that one you had to physically mail them a postcode with the Dog on Tucker box stamp . We didn't read the cache page thoroughly and went back to Bright to buy a postcode, wrote a bit of a story on it and then headed off to gz.

Here we were rewarded with fantastic views and a very nicely hidden cache. We stamped our postcode and added our name to the log.

Many thanks Aussiepuschaks for a fantastic idea and a hide in a spectacular location, a favourite point from us.

I can’t resist a letterbox cache so it was up the hill. It was hot so I was glad that the cache was found fairly quickly. Great view of Bright from here.

*Found on the 16 Jan 2021 @ 8:24 pm.*
*Cache find # 11326.*

After a day on the mountain we headed back to Porepunkah for some dinner at the pub, when that was finished a look at the map and this cache was spotted.
At first we thought it may be a bit hard after the day we have had but a closer look made it look not so bad so off we went for a look.
After a short drive we soon had a great view and the cache was only a hop, skip and a jump away, the search was started and the cache was soon found.

**Thanks to AussiePuschaks for placing this cache.**

16-Jan-21
After a great day up on Mount Buffalo hiking around and attending the celebration event, it was time to slowly head down and do some quick park and grabs before grabbing some dinner at the pub. With no real difficulty me manage to grab a handful more caches.

Thanks for the cache and bringing me out this way.

CAche maintenance run complete; a log book has been included for those without postcards, and several new cards added. Thanks to all those who did bring cards - fantastic reading for us.

Found on our way back to Mt Beauty from Porepunkah.

Dear Aussiepuschaks,
I hope it has not been too long between communications. I do have to apologise in advance as I forgot to purchase a post card so I have been forced to share with Locus cacher.
Today Pa and I decided to visit his relatives in Porepunkah as we are still at our annual camp with friends in Mt Beauty. It has been a glorious day and the drive close to GZ was interesting but not challenging. However the same cannot be said regarding the find at GZ. Neither Sam(sung) nor Monty, aka my GPSr, wanted to lead us to the GZ but it was eventually found by power of elimination. Log has been signed and all returned to the hidey hole. Thanks for placing this cache to challenge us.
Yours sincerely
Smittengranny (and Pa).

Found on Sunday 8 March 2020 at 11:04:10

Out and about for the long weekend with the GeoFam, on the way back to Porepunkah we made a very last minute decision to turn off at the lookout sign. After venturing up to the lookout we spotted this cache nearby, and had to go searching as LB’s are my favourite cache type. The youngest geokid was down for the hunt and soon proclaimed with loud excitement that he had found his favourite container type! In amongat all the commotion I think the eldest did little more than stamp someone else’s postcard. The youngest left a painted rock. We will endeavour to get a proper postcard back up here before venturing back to Geelong. A FP for a combination of cache type/container & location

Thanks Aussiepuschaks for placing this Regular Letterbox Hybrid - this is find 1896 for BFMC

09-Feb-20
Had to share a postcard as there were very few blank ones left, and ofcourse I had to have a kitty cat one or I would had spat the dummy! My caching partner Ozreg would verify that statement. I wrote a message stating that my favorite destination is Tasmania; another statement my part would highly agree with. Cache all good, apart from the mail needing to be picked up

We had come up to the *North East* for a Christmas Lunch with friends from the MX-5 Club... and were staying the night in Bright. Over recent years we had been to Bright quite a few times with the MX-5 Club and I have had my eye on this cache... but the timing never worked in my favour for getting up to it.

Today however, I decided, was going to be the day! So late in the afternoon, we set off along "road" to Tower Hill... not really the best road for an MX-5 but passable with care! Eventually we made it to the Lookout... and what a fantastic view! After a bit of blundering around I eventually came across the cache... left a Postcard... stamped my Letterbox Cache logbook... and took the Trackable that I discovered there.

Thanks **AussiePuschaks** for putting a Letterbox Cache here... and bringing us up to this fantastic view.

Spending a week in Bright, and keen to check the sights - including up here. Closest cache to where we are staying actually ... although the google maps did not do justice to the verticalness. My idea of an early morning walk has not transpired ... one because it is a serious up hike, but two because it is pouring rain and freezing cold. What happened to summer?

So after a lovely lunch in Myrtleford we decided to follow the road sign and climbed the car up the roadway towards GZ. Exactly at GZ actually, a very nice little drive, and the views are amazing. Well worth the effort. A quick hunt around and cache was in hand.

Now, "Dear Sir, I wish to write concerning your idea of Summer. Single digit maximums does not warrant the term I believe, and I wish to request you take urgent action to rectify." Postcard to the editor.

But the views are pretty good.

Thanks Aussiepuschaks for entertaining me at this location.
Cool *{Overall find #7123}* Cool

Had my eye on the one for a long time now and after heading down from Mt Buffalo, finally had the time to look. We drove up to GZ, and after a micro thunderstorm, we were rewarded with spectacular views of bright. Made our way up to the cache and found it. Wrote a story about the day and then returned. Didn't read the thing about the plastic pocket or the stamp sorry, so just left it in the cache. Great cache. TFTC

Wow what a cache and what a view! Magic on all counts. Saw a big eagle on the way up just looking at us. So cool. Thanks heaps. Fave added. TFTC Smile

02-Oct-19
After a coffee in town we drove up to this one and enjoyed the great views. The cache was a quick find, and a postcard was duly deposited. We noted somebody driving around on the nearby hill - perhaps having missed the unsigned turn-off to the tower? Last seen, they were heading back in our direction. Many thanks for the cache.

Beautiful drive to this spot and an intensive search of the area netted us this interesting find.

Breker.... sadly I must be the only DNF on this page. Despite looking desperately, the gps giving me a hard time and muggle hubby getting impatient with me, I eventually gave up. I’ll have to find a caching mate with similar interests and more patience. Anyway, I really loved the views and sighting the snow caped mountains and the beautiful town. I’ll try again one day.

04-Sep-19
What a great idea for a cache. We purchased a postcard from the newsagents and made our way up along the steep track. Took some photos and headed off to GZ, where we obviously left our geo senses back at the car. Took us way longer than it should had to find the cache, then we sat down, read a few postcards, then wrote our own for you.

Thanks Aussiepuschaks. Awesome views up here.

Greetings from Nyora FLTF
This one deserves a fav - Thanks Smile
I have all these good intentions of writing a good log that says far more than TFTC but life just keeps getting in the way! Damn it! So I'm going back through and finding all those that I wrote TFTC or FLTF on and at least editing and noting that I had good intentions but apologising I didn't follow through and instead you get this copy and paste log!

Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache for one reason or another ( date, size, location, convenience, challenge or what not) I have selected it to find and I appreciate that it was here!

TFTC and I promise the next log you get from me I'll write something much better! Cheers TT

#15949. I was doing a maintenance check up on a few caches along the Rail Trail. Just a couple of finds today. This one has been popping up on my radar for years now and finally today with the help of Robmc and his geo-chariot we made our way up here. Chose a random postcard and very nice it was too - a painting of figs. Stamped it with my stamp and wrote about the lovely view, even on this drizzly day. Time to go back down and start wending our way homewards.

Thanks AussiePuschaks

Geomum spotted the stand out cache on the map and decided we had to go for it. Not sure our little car liked the drive up, but we did make it there and back in one piece, and it was all worth the risk.
The cache was found in really great nick (of course!) and we filled out a postcard.
Really enjoyed this one, and we give it a fav.

Today we tackled Mt Buffalo Rd and checked out all the scenery.
Hardly any muggles on bikes up here today thankfully. Wink.
Mostly good safe hides and mainly quick finds. Wink
An excellent cache and a favourite point from me.

Recently we have been camping in an area where there is no phone reception, so today is catch up on logging day. Each cache we have found over the last few days had our name noted on the log and each was replaced as it had been found. Our apologies for the mostly generic log, but sometimes specific comments have been added.
This was a very enjoyable cache to find. A card was selected and when it had been written upon, it was added to the completed cards file. A favourite point has been added as we really enjoyed this one.
Thank you to Aussiepuschaks for placing this cache.

Great cache and we added a fav tick as well .
The trees and power lines played havoc with reception for ten minutes but got it eventually .

Many thanks .
Well recommended !

Glamping in Bright for the long weekend, I took the opportunity to take the 4x4 for a climb dragging along with a muggle mate and his little mugglings.(OK I know that's not a word but you know what I mean).Wink
I don't know who had more fun, me, my friend or the kids, but when I showed them how to find their very first geocache in such a remarkable place as this well there were huge smiles all round.Big Grin
We wrote a postcard, stamped it with the provided stamp and my own, posted it and returned the cache as found (my very favourite type of cache container BTW).[^]
We then stood around for a while admiring the view and taking selfies before taking off to feed a new addiction.Cool
TFTC Aussiepuschaks. I'm guessing the mugglings are mugglings no more. They are now fully fledged geokids. Smile
P.S. The baggie containing the postcards could use replacing as it is torn although all the contents of the cache are clean and dry.

See the rating and reading about the view we headed up and wondered how far we would be able to drive. We took the right roads and got very close only to find a few muggle so too on the views which are pretty good from up here and the. Worked out roughly the hide locations. The muggles soon moved on and we made the find and penned a post card log. TFTC.
A favourite point from us

Greetings from the NSW central coast! Road trippin’ down to Violet Town and then onto Ballarat and Portarlington for a week visiting various family for Easter ..with some geocaching thrown in as always. We absolutely love caching up here in the north east; have been looking forward to getting back here since September last year. This trip we have targeted a good selection of multis, unknowns, and trads to help us with a few challenges we are chasing down, plus we are also aiming for some more squares on our P81.

We had this one planned as our last for the day. Had trouble with the Cachly map (gimme back the GS App PLEASE!!) as it doesn't always lock on nicely with this iPhone 4 (yeah I know) so when we finally got to the right road in, we made it up ok to this brilliant view. A great way to celebrate our latest milestone. TFTC, AussiePuschaks, and thanks N/E VIC for some of the best caching we've experienced.

A quick trip to Bright and I just had to try for this one. The concept is very similar to an old cache of mine from Scotland. A bone jarring drive up the road and a 10 min search eventually found the cache. Harder than it should be due to the long grass. Fantastic view though. Dropped off a TB. Thanks.

Found by Mary & David at 1215. Staying in Bright for a few days with 3 grandchildren and their parents. They are 7, 4 and almost 2. The older boys weren't keen to come treasure hunting with us today, as they have seen lolly shops, toy shops, and assume there are new pokemons to claim in a new area. A lovely place, a great idea, and a FP. The grey clouds are lifting too. Our thanks to AussiePuschaks.

Holidaying in Bright for a week with the hubby and kids and this morning we headed out for some exploring. Love the idea of this one. Didn't come prepared (as we saw a sign to a lookout so just took it)! Clever concept though - such glorious views over a beautiful town. Adding a fav here - many thanks Smile

When we are up for a long weekend in the high country, and the wife asks me to go to get milk from Bright, so can trust I won't go geocaching. I won't take her Hyundai AWD up into the forrest, head to a lookout and get out views of Bright. I won't search the surrounding area with a bouncing GPS until I jhave located an ammo tin. I'll be back to the accommodation within 15 minutes.

Yeah right!!! Very Happy

Thanks for a really cool concept and awesome views!

Cheers from Geelong.

Found together with Schlauchen during our 3 weeks vacation in Australia.

Today we started our road trip from Ocean Grove, where we visited our "adoptive australian grandparents" Annie and David, to Sydney. The first leg was Ocean Grove - Bright.

We didn't dare to drive the road up to the cache with our 2WD car so we parked down the hill. But I have to say it was feasible because while we were walking uphill a guy drove his 2WD car to the cache location. At the beginning we thought it was a geocacher but it only took some pictures.
We were prepared with our own postcards (I left one from my home city Ferrara), and once I quickly found the cache we wrote them to the owner.

TFTC and greetings from Italy.

Found it together with ravestorm on vacation in Australia!

I had seen this listing already at home in Germany and so we were superprepared and brought our own postcards from Europe.

We didn't dare to drive up to the top so we parked the car at the junction. I think it would have been possible, no too big holes.

Surprisingly we had a muggle problem up there, a young man drove up with his car. at the beginning we thought it might be a cacher, but he took only photos.

We sneaked to the cache where my GPS went crazy and sent me up, down, forwards and backwards. Ravestorm didn't have that problem and soon waved at me "found it!".

So we sat down and wrote our postcards to the owner.

TFTC we loved the drive up and the beautiful view before the rain set in. We loved reading the postcards in the letter box. Picked up the PTs heading overseas in a few weeks.
