I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in a prior reviewer note.
Hi bumandworker
This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).
I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.
Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.
Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

I totally agree with Infoferret about this cache. I thought I had found a likely spot about 6m away from my GZ but I could find nothing. The rest of the location was waist high grass.
Ok. Next time I will check who the CO is, before I decide to go for what should be a straightforward cache while the others grab lunch ..
The phone signal was all over the place, and if the CO's objective is to have people trampling all over the dune vegetation by not giving anything even vaguely resembling a useful hint, he is certainly achieving that!
I would have flagged this as a needs maintenance, but I have limited expectations that this would actually achieve anything other than a snarky auto generated email implying that I should fix it myself (how can I if I can't find it?) Oddly enough, 3 of the 4 DNF'S from this weekend were B&W caches.
Ok, it's stinkingly hot (30c), and I am grumpy, so rant over.

A quick find with Tregearp on an evening stroll. All in good condition. Signed log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache.
My first attempt at this came up empty handed, I returned later in the morning to find my glasses I thought must have fallen from my head earlier, only to find them down my top! Then returned after lunch at Bernie's with C&A and four of us attempted to find the elusive container. Still no luck. Lovely walk anyway.
Camped nearby trying to stay warm. Finally warmed and dried a bit, so I went out for a nice loop walk including this trail. Everything seemed to line up for this one. My phone was being cooperative and led me right to an interesting spot and there it was. Would like to claim great caching skill, but I’ll settle for luck. Thanks.
I'd glanced at the previous log, and got a bit daunted, but as it happened I went to my GZ, looked around, and immediately spotted the camo that looked out of place. A nice night time walk from our accommodation for the night. TFTC.
Came to walk the cycleway and find some caches. Had a really good look here but no rubbish or moveable camo object or cache to be found.
Out for a morning walk before the heat got up. Quick find snx sign. Thanks for the cache.
This one took me a bit longer to find as I originally headed up the wrong side trail. Soon enough I was back on the right track and found a lid from a container. Thought cache might have gone but then noticed a possible hide. Upon checking it, I found the cache tucked away nicely. Sat in the sand and signed the log, removed a couple of pebbles from container and slid a laminated trackable in with the log sheet. Replaced as found and tucked camo a bit tidier over top. tftc
Ambling along in the fine weather picking up the odd cache here and there. Thanks.
Biking the Kaikoura trail today and grabbing a few caches on the ride. Weather looked reasonable this morning and we thought we could manage 45k before rain started. Good views but some clouds up high blocked full views of the Southern Alps.
Quick find here. Thanks for the cache B&W

Thought this may be challenging with the area recently burnt off and rubbish around , but in fact all good and well camoed as instructed. Thanks
Out for a bike ride bit windy but that's OK great day to do some geocaching - yep bit burnt around the area - TFTC
Woohoo a long weekend and a good excuse to get away ...I usually just drive through kaikoura but this time I've decided to stay for 3 nights on a caching mission...
Decided to tackle mt fyffe this morning..
After a 5 hour return trip it's time to jump on the bike for a ride out to the peninsula
Now for a short walk....
Well that's a first never found a cache in the middle of scorched ground ...I would say a fairly recent fire(you can still smell it) has occurred around gz plus a bit of
Earth moving so wasnt expecting this to still be intact ...but it was and looking in good shape...tftc

Ducking between the raindrops today so had the place to ourselves, even though it is Easter Friday and there are lots of visitors here. Cache is all good. TFTC
It is hard to believe that this cache has sat here for so long and we haven't found it earlier. Mainly because in our brief visits to Kaikoura we have not been on this track. Today we parked at the advised spot and found this and 3 others on the track. Mrs SoBad's bike ticked over the 1000 km (not a lot for the CO but it is for her) so this gets a favourite as being the long lasting cache on the track.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Macwatt was having trouble with his GPS and carried on. I looked, he came back and found it. Thanks for the cache bumandworker
Nice easy find good view of the boats off in the distance around the ricks thanks B& W for another great cache
Found last night but we forgot a pen! Returned today after spending the day out fishing with Seamist. Tftc
On the road to Picton with TharntheHalken (plus muggle). Found after a bit of casting about. All good. Camo returned. Tftc!
A quick find and I always carry notebooks etc so have replaced the full logbook with two strips of notepaper
Found it! My first cache found by torch light, with help from my sister. Had to find our way to the sea as staying at The Alpine, but got a bit dark! Signed and returned to hiding place. TFTC
After making it through some roadworks on our drive from Blenheim to Christchurch, my wife and I pulled in for lunch. Most people probably get a bit cranky continually being stopped but the Stop/Go people wave at you with such vigour and have a big smile on their face. Damn it’s hard to be unhappy at those people.
One of the theories I have spent a lot of time trying to prove is that it is impossible to get a bad Eggs Benedict. I started concocting my thesis the first time I tasted hollandaise sauce and even applied for a research grant back in Australia. Those dickwad public servants knocked back my application.
I’m sure we’ve all had an Eggs Benny that is a bit skanky, maybe a bit fruity or had bits that tasted like arse but have you ever really had a “bad” one? You can post your answers at http://www.whogivesatoss.co.nz
So we both bennied up (Eggs Benedict is also a verb) and once again my deep theory was not disproven. After lunch we came for a walk to look at the mountain and find a cache. tftc

Found this cache on our way around NZ with motorbikes. This was a quick one.

We took the time this day to explore Kaikoura by bike and through geocaching. First we took the road by the seaside to the north. We passed lots of nice locations and there were also lots of geocaches. Or at least they were supposed to be there, but in fact half the time we searched a cache without finding it. That was a bit disappointing during the first half. We had at least five DNF’s. Going back we took the SH1. The first cache there was gone again, but the rest was found. Apart from the DNF’s, we had a very nice time during this bike ride. Loved especially the track near the sea. During the whole day 19 caches were found in Kaikoura.
Thanks for placing this cache!

Meanwhile this is my third geocaching-trip to Middle-Earth . And I love it! [:X]
Still there are routes and places in this beautiful country that are on the 'discover-me' list and want to be visited and explored. .
I had already been here to Kaikoura once - in Winter 2014/2015 - before the big earthquake.
It is absolutely obvious, how the bay and the shore have changed since this unexpected and surely not welcome 'nature-force-event' .
Anyway - the day (#20) with splendid, sunny weather was dedicated to strolling around the still more than beautiful Kaikoura-bay by foot (15km ) and by car, picking up quite a few treasures that seamed the path - just like this one:
A nice little cache at path by the shore ! There were quite some objects close to the coordinates that might have made sense hosting a cache...
Thanks to the owner [:X] for placing and maintaining this cache and best regards from Germany!

Down from Northland, visiting the South Island on a 7 day caching and sight seeing trip. The main object was to find the last four CANZ caches, finish off my D/T grid, fill as many spaces as possible in my Jasmer grid and then concentrate on special types, solved puzzles, completed challenges and those with good numbers of favourite points, plus maybe a few extras that were close to any of our stopping points.
The trip started off on a good note, with our rental cache mobile being little more than a week old and only 109 kms on the clock. It certainly had a few more by the time we returned it..!
Day two today and heading northward. Finally made it up to Kaikoura later in the afternoon and time for another cache or two before organising dinner. This one was closest to our accommodation and actually ended up being found on the track from the motel down to the beach late in the evening. TFTC

Came to Kaikoura for the weekend to watch some squash and have a few refreshments. Today is finals day but I'm heading back early - time for a handful of finds before hitting the road.
Stopped in the supermarket carpark and wandered along to this spot. Big southerly brewing so didn't hang around.

Mum had a Lion function in Kaikoura so I came to keep her company on the drive. We took some time to squeeze in some caches on the way home before leaving Kaikoura this morning . It was a nice early morning walk alongside the sea. An easy find following the geotrail through the long dewy grass. There was a very vibrant patch of colour from an orange flower amongst all the green not far from GZ. Im not sure what it was and I took a photo but it didnt show up too well. Thanks for the effort in placing and creating this cache for all of us to enjoy
Found with Kilmory Martyn while on holiday in Kaikoura. Can't remember exact date, but approximately the date I am logging it as.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are on a 4 day adventure of Kaikoura. Its Sunday and we are in and around Kaikoura today.
We park up by New World, for another walk along the beach. Yes.! After a quick hunt at a couple of likely spots its snagged and tagged. Cheers

Found with NZDi. Yesterday we bought NZDi a bright new shiny geomobile and because the dealer offered us a ridiculous low-ball offer for our current geomobile as a trade-in, we decided to sell it privately. We were fortunate that someone from Geraldine wanted to buy our ex-geomobile and we agreed to meet in Kaikoura to complete the deal. We arrived early and had time to grab a couple of caches before completing the deal. After getting business out of the way, NZDi suggested we should do a few caches before heading home. Although I'm always up for caching, I hadn't come prepared and was in urban clobber and had done no prep apart from running a PQ a couple of days earlier, but we decided to get a few anyway.
This cache was near to where we made the decision to find a few more caches before heading home, so after a short stroll down the shoreline, we were soon near GZ. A prominent feature initially grabbed our attention and although it was a few metres away from the indicated GZ we searched it anyway. After that search turned up fruitless, we followed c:geo to another less prominent feature which also didn't hide the cache. It wasn't until NZDi noticed another feature lower down in the long grass that we finally found the treasure.

What an experience it has been caching in Kaikoura, every way you turned it was either mountain or sea scenery. We learnt so much abour the earthquake you had here last year,

Oh how I have DNF thee over the years. On my third (or forth) attempt it's finally gone. I approached it at 10pm from the beach and I was looking for the pine tree from yesteryear and it was, well, gone. A bit more of a hunt around and there was the remains, and the cache. Awesome, glad to have that ticked off. Cheers
Another Kaikoura expedition with Monson.clan. This was our last one before heading home. thanks again for the fun
I noticed this cache was only 120 m from the motel I was staying at, so I decided to brave the blustery weather and find the cache. I got to gz and thought I'd be hard pressed to find the cache. Then I noticed something that stood out. Sure enough it was there. Log book is quite damp, the bag has split open, my log was just legible. Beautiful views. Thanks for bringing me here and tftc.
Phone co-ordinates less than adequate but still an easy enough find on a beautiful calm day in kaikoura. TFTC
3.30am time for me to have my mandatory half hour break and I don't have any caches found in Kaikoura so this is the first and it's moderately truck friendly... TFTC
After a quick visit to the nearby retail facilities, we took the kids for a quick walk to the beach during a long road trip. We had to search for this cache for some time, the now notoriously average GPS on my phone was less than useful. Finally realised where it would be, and there it was. Tftc.
Now that the Peninsula is full of smilies it's time to branch out and collect a few more.
We've driven past this one many times so it's good to finally park and make the short walk.
A quick find. Flash new crossing over the tracks now behind the Supermarket. Looks like a cycle way running here between the supermarket and town.

The original plan for this Waitangi Day was to climb up Mount Patriarch after a tramping and biking combo. The talk for most of the week had been around the assumption that Friday was that, then I was going to head down the line to Kaikoura on the Saturday and come back on the Sunday.
The best laid plans of mice and men and all that.
Dry conditions and this weeks fires along North Bank Road have led to it being closed to traffic for the next few days so new plans must be made. Couldn't really sit around doing nothing with a day off and no plan could I?
Spoke to G H 6 7 1 0 and hew was keen for a day trip down the line to Kaikoura as long as we got back today ready for wedding anniversary tomorrow, no worries. I plugged in 76 caches into the G P S ; 5 from four caches and 71 from b&w, seriously. I enjoy finding caches at the end of the day and all the ones we found today were well maintained; one was even duplicated, more on that later.
The weather was a cool, strong Southerly breeze after rain in the night cooled things down a little and snow appeared atop the higher Nelson ranges and the Kaikoura Ranges too, looked good though.

Last one as leaving Kaikoura and the wind has dropped, the sea is blue and clam and the air temperature has risen nicely
A great walk to here form New World car park and a Q E F. Covered well with camo bark too

We had planned a caching trip to Mt Patriach today, but with a large fire up the Onamalutu and the road closed, plans had to change. Capperz and I decided to head to Kaikoura and clear up some areas just off the main road that he hadn't managed to get to yet. We had some light rain overnight, and the day dawned calm and cold helping those getting the fire under control. There was also a light dusting of snow on the tops of nearby hills, from around 1400m up. We headed south, caching along the way and filling up the map with yellow smiles. There was a strong southerly blowing along the coast, with rough seas and cooler temperature. Many miles covered, many caches found and a very good day out exploring.
Our last cache in town for the day. The best access for this one is probably from the purpose built railway crossing behind the New World supermarket (hunting and fishing end). A short walk along the track to G Z. Just got the cache returned as a couple came over the dunes from above.
