The puzzle made FAR more sense once we were at GZ. Quick solve by the Mrs, and a wander to the cache hiding place where Mr found it promptly. Suggest H2 be changed as it's no longer ground level. More hobbit eye height. Smile

thanks to Rubbishpaty for replacing the cacheall set to find again

We popped back to this one having messaged the CO from our attempt last night. We knew where to look and having done so we now think this cache is no longer retrievable. We could see it but just could not get it out despite having a few tools to try with. CO messaged again with our findings Tim and Viv - ddm

Didn’t get past the first hint…

30-Jan-22
Finally knocked this one off after several days of false starts. Worked out the puzzle first incorrectly until my partner in crime solved the name clue and then it became obvious at GZ. Back to holiday accommodation to work out the puzzle, correctly this time, and we had the accurate co-ords in hand. At the new waypoint, hint 1 we couldn’t solve and hint 2 led us to rubbish and broken bottles. Suggest ignoring hint 2 as it is very misleading. Had to ask cache owner if we were in the right place as not visible at all and never ever would have found it without major clue from CO taybee (thank you!). Even then we struggled for 15 mins to retrieve. Put back so slightly easier for future cachers but still not visible. Cache in good condition. TNLN, TFTC.

After spending 5 days in the area and trying to solve this one and locate its hiding place, what a mission had more than one idea to solve this and always seem to hit a rod block or a very big wall, I/we were very lucky to have a generous push/ nudge with this one.
As it was our last morning in town we had a sense of pride/luck when we managed to sign the log and replace as found.
Thanks for the placement and the smiley.
FP awarded.

#12,575. Enjoyed solving this quite interesting field puzzle based on Centennial Marine Drive in Awapuni, Gisborne. A short walk to the final GZ, which was fortunately all quiet at the time of our visit. Found after a short search. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Favorite point added for the imaginative field puzzle and hints.

Thanks for the field puzzle and placement, and for bringing us to all these sites, and …

TeamBOP are together again after lockdown decided to head to Gisborne for a day trip we have a list of 60 caches to get today. TeamBOP consists of myself, McJandals, Squirrel Nutcase and Fap and Gap. Had an early start of 4am today arriving into Gisborne at 730am. Thanks for all the hides. Took a while to find and then to retrieve the cache from its hiding place.

A plan was hatched recently to hit the Gisborne area this weekend. Nice to get away after the recent lockdown and grab some smiles. Signed logs Team BoP to save room on log sheets. Took ages but spied in a hole.

I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these caches. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

With (Mr) Davidson clan, Gap (of Fap and Gap), and McJandals. We planned a Gisborne roadtrip in August to get a jump on the Reach the Peak challenge, but Covid-19 lockdowns stuffed up our plans. As soon as levels allowed for it, our outing was back on the table. Today’s one-day mission meant getting up and away by 4AM…

We worked out how to locate the puzzle particulars while at home. The execution of this part was spot on. There was momentary confusion as we tried to work out how to complete the coordinates grid from the given instructions. We muddled through it… The final put us in a location strewn with rubbish. We gingerly picked through the detritus with no outcome. Eventually we decided to step back and take a look at another object. Mr Davidson spotted the cache tucked away and just managed to extract it without a tool. We’re pleased to sign this one off. Thanks taybee. TFTP and TFTC.

but 1 hint we had no idea what it was about.
after searching nearby in all the rubbish Mr Davidson spotted something.

Such a cool puzzle cache. We searched all over for this with no luck.

This geocacher reported that the cache might be missing.

14-Nov-20
An enjoyable solve..that lead to a disappointing end ..spent a lot of time searching and nothing..searched around the GZ item and along the fence line 10 meters either side of the calculated GZ zippo

Add me to the DNFs. Didn't realise it hadn't been found in a while before looking.

Pretty sure we were in the right place, did the calculations, deciphered the hint, contacted a previous finder and found a lovely spot that fitted everything. Note that the previous finders could not find a cache container and only a log book but we couldn't even find that. Hmmm, not sure if it is missing or just too good for us. Shame as we won't be back in this area for quite some time to come.

This had been a planned trip in the company of HKCB to Whangarei but as the weather wasn't the best in the north we thought we would bring this trip forward and head over here to see what we could locate as neither of us had done a whole lot around this area.
Leaving home 7pm Friday evening and returning by midnite Saturday, 954kms travelled and approx. 70 caches located along with about 8 DNF's.
Thanks to all the CO's whom have put out these caches for us and completing the maintenance to keep them going.
The start of a new day and after a few hours sleep it was time to see what we could find with the real challenge being the new virtual as that was a primary goal for the trip. With the light up and no rain the day was looking good for a few caches. Had worked out the final for this one much earlier in the day, but with muggles at GZ we had had to head off, (tried twice more but they were still there) came back this time and after a good search located the Log but no container so signed the log an d left again

Thank you for the placement, thanks for the cache.

This weekend had been booked into headed to Whangarei with Cats&Dragons for a bit of caching, but as the weather wasn't looking flash at all, so we decided to head East instead to Gisbourne as we both hadn't done much caching in te area. Leave home about 7pm Friday, and returning home midnight Saturday meant we got a fair bit of caching time in for the limited time we had. All up we found just under 70 caches in total, so a big thanks for all the CO's for placing and maintaining the caches we found on this trip.

Thought this puzzle was going to be fairly tricky, but once at GZ it was easily solved. As a muggle was chilling there for a while, we decided to come back later and hop that he had moved on. A few hours later we were happy to see that they had. Gave GZ a good search and was just about to give up when we found the logbook hanging out in the open. Looks like this one needs some TLC. Thanks for the neat feild puzzle though.

We have spent a couple of nights in Gisborne, after making a spur of the moment decision to get the FTF on the new Virtual, and to collect the CANZ Gisborne cache. After a very enjoyable if fleeting, stay, this morning we must head back home. One more stop on our way out of town though, to S5T36C2L19. We have had this puzzle on our solved list since it was first published in 2010 (yes, the necessary information was online then). But when we called in on Friday night we could not find the container in the dark. Then we read the hide had changed, so knew we had to re-do the puzzle. Yesterday we stopped to get the necessary information (no longer online?) and last night re-worked the puzzle and decoded the hint. Found and signed the log today. This is a clever puzzle that is really only understandable once at GZ (or with some local knowledge). Enjoyed hint 1 and the title. Very pleased to finally have made the find. Many thanks.

Found, but logbook is missing, so I've put a temporary replacement piece of paper. Needs a new logbook:) cool puzzle!

We are staying at the beachside campsite for a night and set out for an evening stroll to enjoy the sea views. We saw this mystery on our GPS and decided to attempt it, but the code box wasn’t shown on the GPS and our attempts to guess at what we had to do with the information found on site all failed. Eventually we decided to try getting online with a phone and luckily had a signal and got the code box at last. Eventually everything fell into place and the coordinates were spot on. It still took a while to locate the cache though. Thanks for an interesting mystery cache. SL. TFTC.

We enjoyed this puzzle and the solve is easy once we read the description properly. Thank you for the well made puzzle Smile

We were a bit confused by all sorts of things here, but not by where the cache would be luckily, so it was a quick find. TFTC.

This puzzle had me intrigued when I looked at some mystery caches prior to our journey to Gisborne. I loved the way everything fell into place when I arrived on site. I didn't manage to correctly decode hint one while I was there but have since done so. This was an enjoyable cache.

Did the calculations last summer but the festival was just setting up and GZ was roped off. Nice and quiet this morning just on sunrise so had the place to myself.
Cool puzzle and great to finally knock it off.
Many thanks

Since this one has moved and has a new puzzle to work out, thought it about time to revisit this cache. Big like for hint 1. Nice hiding spot.

03-Jan-14
Took a while to solve the puzzle, and nearly gave up but decided to have one last look for it and surprisingly came across it. Exhausted find

26-Dec-13
Called in and got the data I needed. There are fences all around at present becuase of the upcoming concert. Tried to solved by writing on my hand but stuffed it up. Went away and solved on some paper but realised GZ was probably behind one of the temporary fences so didn't go back to try and find the cache. Next time ....

We had looked a little at this puzzle before leaving DK and again before leaving the motel, but decided that we should probably just go to GZ and see if things made more sense there,.. and they did..

The final coords were soon found and a very short walk later and after a bit of confusion the cache was also in hand Smile

Found at 20:14 - #4357 - together with aedk and Difool - logged as RAD to save space and time

[green] Here with popmac on a geocaching / daffodil trip. Popmac grows daffodils and is taking a bunch to a daffodil tournament thingy in Gisborne with plans to cache along the way, and I came along for the ride. He won $100! Covers part of the petrol costs!
Wandered down early morning to take a look at this one. What is this thing? The names of everyone who contributed? What do the symbols mean? is it everyone in Gisborne? I was a bit surprised at how close the cache was, but then it saved me from a long walk Smile.

Tried this at home with google maps. No luck. Arrived at gz and totally stumped. Began to drive away and had a light bulb moment. Reparked, got what we needed and were soon headed to the cache. Had the 1st word of hint 1 deciphered by the time we reached gz but the co ords were so good h2 sufficed. We may have made a hash of it but felt very pleased to get the smiley. Thank you once again for a brain work-out, tay (Evil Genius) bee. NINO TFTC

Coool puzzle. Easy but fun to work with Smile TFTC

26-Dec-10
The title made sense when we got there. The location of the name is currently screened off by a plastic screen, but you can read through it alright. The calculations were soon made, and although we started to decode the hint, we decided it would be quicker just to look for the cache. TFTC

23-Dec-10
When I arrived at the published coordinates there were some workers putting up a new fence which they had laid out on the footpath.
They let me step on the fence, so that I could get close enough to find the name. The fence is widely spaced wire, so future visitors will still be able to find the name ok. There were people at the final location, so I headed off to find another cache.
I returned later on and the coast was clear for a quick retrieval of the cache.
An enjoyable puzzle and cache.
I haven't managed to decode the hint yet.
Thanks.

This was found on my second day in the Gisborne area. Was curious what this wall is all about. Thought I might have needed to go into the athletic ground, which was locked, but luckily I didn't.

Cheers for the cache.

bought the "home away from home' 7WED51 to Gisborne for 5 nights.. fantastic weather and thoroughly enjoyed our stay... enjoyed working this one out.. although have to admit to having to bike back to it a couple of times to get the correct "name" to work out the code... well done.. TFTC

[green]Had intended this one to be our 10-10-10-10-10-10 cache (cache found at 10.10.10am on the 10th of the 10th of the 10th, but this was not to be)

[black]Must admit to having attempted to solve this puzzle when it came out from home, tried all the names of the area we could think of, the name of the cache did have us wondering what it could possibly mean.
Got to GZ and spotted a whole lot of names, figured out the cache meaning and proceeded to find the correct name, we hit a glitch and then started brute forcing, even were prepared to walk a line of possibility but it was too far away.
We had a PAF favour up our sleeves, so we elected to use that option, Thanks [red]Yeetrees[black] for contacting the owner to rectify the problem with the puzzle, so that we were still able to solve the puzzle and find the cache on the 10th of the 10th of the 10th, but at 11.45am instead, unfortunately this meant we ran out of time to carry on around the east coast to find 10 caches on the 10th of the 10th of the 10th, but we did manage 5 FTF's so should be grateful I suppose Big Grin, will have to wait till next year for 11 finds on the 11th of the 11th of the 11th at 11.11.11am!!

Thanks Taybee for all your Gisborne placements, a very good idea for a puzzle, We like your name choice.Wink
