On our way up the mountain, we headed to this one.
It was difficult to get around the gate but we got there without sliding down the hillside.
Then after a short walk to GZ, the cache was easily found.
It is a pity they had to close the gates.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks bristracker All good with this archived cache

On the week-end I drove past here heading up the mountain for a few hiking type caches.
It was then that I remembered the couple of caches up this road.
So with the MTB packed I headed this way after work today.
I easily slipped around the side of the fence along the very well worn path. (There were 4 cars parked here today)
After finding the 2 current caches I was told about this one. With a little searching on the phone I soon had the co-ords for this one. The GPSr had me spot on for this one. A quick find.
It is in good condition and dry. A good one for the archive hunters.
Thanks for the cache.

Well I've had the three caches out here on my watch list for quite awhile now. Dam Buster had been archived and after checking out the Seqwater website, the other two probably won't be to far behind. Apparently the access road to the dam will never be opened again due to stability problems caused by the 2013 Australia Day down pour. So this little treasure will never be seen by the public anymore. I have been here once before as a wee little kid, so as far as memory's go, I have none. Now that I'm old enough to appreciate places like this I was very disappointed to find out access is no longer possible.
So a few weeks ago I checked out the satellite view and spotted a side entry, mmm, I wonder?
6am sunday seemed like the best time to have a sneaky go at these three caches and the chance to check out the dam.
I parked up and started my walk down hill towards GZ. Straight of the bat this track is steep. I was sinking into my boots on the way down. My toes were pushing into the steel caps and I was sure by the time I got to the bottom I would have worn through my socks. On the return leg I was nearly walking out of my boots. The track climbs up 150m in altitude in about 500m, a 30 degree gradient at times, it was a hard slog back up.
If you have ever watched the T.V. series called The Walking Dead, then you will know the feeling I had while walking along the road in here. So peaceful and deserted, I often wonder what it would be like to be in a world like that.
I managed to walk the 6k round trip within 2 hours which included searching and a bit of time spent at the dam wall, not to bad I thought.
As I wandered down the hill I hit a road which was heavily over grown. Mother nature taking back whats hers. At first I thought it was the main access road but it turned out to be the old rangers driveway of sorts. I eventually found the way to the main road and not long after that, the clearing. With my eyes and ears peeled I headed straight for the stump. Surprisingly the clearing is being maintained by someone as the grass is short at the moment. The gps was working great today so GZ was found fairly easily, thankfully.
Still in pretty good condition considering the time it's sat unfound. Log signed and back under the leaf litter.
One down, two to go.
Thanks for the cache bristracker, not exactly how it was meant to be found but it was a lot more enjoyable.

this cache has been inaccessible for many months following the heavy rains early this year so I have decided to archive it and save geocachers any wasted trips to the area
the cache can be revived if and when the area is again open to traffic

Apologies to those cachers who have gone up the hill hoping to find this one only to discover that the road is still closed. I will therefore temporarily disable this listing to save any more disappointment.
I had three caches up this road on my agenda today but the road is temporarily closed at it's junction with Springbrook Rd. The sign, at present, doesn't say how long it will be closed. Just letting others know.
This was a serene spot. It was great to come travelling down this road and exploring some more of the area. Thanks bristracker for the cache.
New Years Eve, last chance to log a cache for 2012
Our first visit to this area, a good hint led us to an easy find. Now on to the dam

We have missed out on getting these caches previously because we always pass when the park is shut! But today our timing was right and being a weekday, hopefully muggle free! No problem grabbing this one and then off to visit the dam . Thanks bristracker
Found with kadin92, someone didn't close the container properly so there was a nice surprise of a spider and cockroach waiting for us yucky.
Headed in the direction if the arrow but then followed the geotrail. A lovely area. Thanks bristracker
Whoops! I didn't bother turning on the GPSr, instead walking towards the hint; wrong one! The Marble went to the right one and amid pleasant green surroundings, found the cache quite quickly while a pair of king parrots kept watch over our car for us. TFTC, bristracker. =^.^=
After spending a week in a houseboat on the Tweed River, we decided to tackle some of the caches along this scenic drive. What a beautiful way to spend an afternoon . Picked up the Japan Geocoin. LNSL TFTC

The whole purpose of caching today was to find this.

Well the road is certainly open again, and being that it was after 5, nobody was about to close it tonight either. With Whint and Baddal and the hint helped a lot here, as we headed into the bush. Naturally I tripped over an incredibly spiky vine and said some choice words (sorry kids). Was in the obvious spot, but I checked a few other places for some reason. Signed log and headed off towards the dam, TFTC bristracker
Out caching with geokids and Captain Terror..... nearing the end of our journey but not quite ready to stop for the day yet Nice and quick easy find... but on the way out geokid falls and hurts her wrist.... wasn't sure at the time if she broke it but I think its just bruised thankfully

Have received word from Aussie Liahona that the road at the dam is open again so our caches are good to go.
Tried for this one today, but due to road damage from the flooding, the road is closed. Perhaps this one could be disabled until it is available again
After recent rains and thanks to last note from cachers it is necessary to take this one off temporarily. Will wait until road is clear again. Sorry about that.
Thorns! Itchy plants!
Maybe we took the wrong approach but I'm still itchy now
Nice easy find however and didn't get spotted by the ranger driving by.

We started the afternoon searching at the dam so that we would not get caught by the curfew and then headed back towards civilisation. Mrs got upset when I took her beloved Corolla off the road over the dips to park it safely off the road.
I walked to the cache and had a quick find. Thanks bristracker. We made it out the gate by 3.50pm.

As we turned off the road towards the damn I realised there was no reception and we hadn't read the description at all for this one. I had spent half an hour putting all the days caches in the little old etrex as a back up so it was just going to be us and that. A brave new world for us, caching with just co-ords and no phone app, ohh the hardship
Cache was found surprisingly easily. Maybe we should try this more often......

This wasn't hard to find thanks to a very generous clue. Very quiet New Years day morning.
Thanks

KateRX and I set off for a day of caching around springbrook. This cache was our first stop and a quick easy find, which is alway a good way to start the day. I dropped off Mouse class A travel bug and took the geocoin.

Noo82 and I decided to spend the entire day in the Springbrook area on the last day of school holidays finding caches. This was our first. Nicely stocked cache with awesome little swaps. Took measuring tape, left Toy Story book. TFTC bristracker!
Found on our way home from a weekend escape to the Gold Coast hinterland. Thanks for the hint. The GPS had me in the clearing. TFTC
Saw quite a few cyclists training on the way to the dam, SL,swapped TBs,TFTC for an interesting cache

Up here to check on caches and to place another. Have cleaned out container, placed new larger log OK for stickers and stocked with new loot.
TFTC. We actually found this one on the 1st of August but didn't log it due to no web access at the dam.
A great spot.
Also dropped off froggy

After finding the cache we stayed for a while and played stick with the geohound all the while listening to a pair of Whipbirds entertaining us, then as if that wasn't enough a pair of black cockatoos came thorugh and played.
Beautiful area, so much so that when we got lunch to go from down the road this is where we came back to sit and enjoy.

First Chace in 2 years. Nice easy find, and pleasant drive to the dam. Took cookie cutter, left lady beatle
I needed a cache to "enhance my calm" after a previous find. This one did nicely Not a muggle to be seen as I made my way into GZ and retrieved the cache. It is in excellent condition. TFTC bristracker - a wonderful little area
Walking nearer to GZ, saw a likely spot, and there it was.
Easy find, nice spot that I have visited many times before. Thanks BT. Cache in good condition

Found this one on the way to the dam after a lovely weekend up on the range geocaching. Thanks Bristracker for bringing us here to this lovely spot. We would never have come down here if it was not for geocaching. Took witch TB. TFTC
Found with Bedmaker while in the area today.
Lovely area, the birds were chirping away in the trees.

Found while on a holiday from Adelaide. We've been to Springbrook many times, but never detoured down this way. Thanks for showing us this location.
Found after a day working up at Neranwood. Absolutely nobody around at Little Nerang Dam... well almost nobody as I was there. Beautiful spot and even more magical with low cloud and light rain. TNLN. Cache all in order. TFTC!
OK two caches down and only this one to go.
At the last cache I was told by a passing muggle that the gate that was supposed to be locked at 4.00PM was already locked at 3.30PM.
I found a spot to park and quickly tracked down this cache. I signed the log and grabbed a fancy geo-coin. TFTC Bristracker.
OK lets go see about this gate. I drive up the road and surely enough there is a closed gate between me and freedom. (I could get out but the "Mysterious Radnoski Geo-Mobile" can not jump metal gates.)
I can see a big old padlock attached to the gate. On closer inspection the gate is closed but not locked and I am very happy when I find I can swing it open. (crisis averted)
There were some young loud mouth fishing muggles (although there is no fishing allowed) at the dam as I arrived. It seems like their idea of a joke is closing this gate and freaking people out.
I just remembered I grabbed a scratchie from one of the last two caches.... let's see if I am twice lucky on this one....OK you have to match the "Lucky Symbol" with another similar symbol.... no matching symbol..... but the "Lucky Symbol" is a compass so surely that is a good sign for a geocacher.

A quick dash up to Little Nerang Dam after some gardening chores today. We only had 30 minutes to try and grab all 3 caches up here before the gate closed. So some power caching was required. Found this one after a quick search. We found our coordinates were approximately 10m out but tree cover is heavy here so it's always going to be a variable thing.

Was sitting at the computer and answering an email from my sister. Clicked on send and then checked inbox before going to do some housework. Just as I did that I saw a cache publication notification. Housework can wait. Asked hubby to eat his very late breakfast in the car and off we shot. Rain, rain, and more rain. We were glad to see a causeway on the way to the cache was not flooded. Realized as we took the turn off for this cache that Bristracker is right - this area is not well known and in fact, we had never been out here before - that we can recall. Arrived near to GZ and thought we had been beaten to the cache because of some deeply imprinted tyre tracks nearby. We parked on solid ground ourselves. Followed our noses and our gps on foot, in boots, and there was something likely. Yep, a cache well hidden and fully loaded. So:
FTF at 11:02am today in the rain. Took a drive out to the dam afterwards and was rewarded with the sight of the dam overflowing. (Not surprising after all the rain we've had this week, and this year.) Thanks for this new cache here Bristracker. We enjoyed our visit.
Took: socks, because we were trying to fit in a trackable to this well stocked cache.
Left: Kitty Sullivan and a scratchy for the next to find. Please place Kitty somewhere safe soon.

Placed the cache with items I had in geovehicle at the time: socks, shoelaces, shoe horn, pegs, cookie cutter, corkscrew. You should be able to find a little gift among that lot.
