Muggle65 and l are visiting my Mum who recently moved from Australia to Blenheim. We have been enjoying driving her Clubman around. Fairly intense road from Blenheim to Nelson with all the logging trucks. We want to get as many of the caches on our list as we can, and still get back for Mum's roast. We parked as close as we could for this one and a quick find was made. Cache is in good condition here. Thank you for a fun challenge
Day #4 Blenheim to Nelson - The Mega New Zealand ExperienceA chance for an overseas Mega was too good to pass up. Especially with half the state seeming to be attending also. I set about some last minute planning. Flights still available Accommodation found Mode of transport securedLooks like its time to cross the ditch. Ive never visited the South Island before so it is bound to be a fun filled trip. After a lovely stop in Blenheim overnight (with a bonus wood fireplace!), it was off to Nelson today via Picton. It was a mad dash to find these so I wasnt late for dinner. Fortunately I didnt have to complete the paperwork before dinner or it would have been very cold. It is definitely a positive that challenges must now have checkers to produce the results. I got there in the end!GC-code Cache name Size FoundGC8AYEJ Hgglund Drive-by Micro16/10/2024GCA094 911 Fire Fighters Memorial (Christchurch)Virtual17/10/2024GC45YB6Bugmister Big Bucket (Canterbury) Large17/10/2024GC6VHG7Dial a Cache (Canterbury) Small17/10/2024GC710QDEarthquake Memorial (Canterbury) Other18/10/2024GCACXWYBallard Reserve (Stoke) Regular19/10/2024A big thanks goes to Marchwood for taking the time to add BGSc 101: Contain Hers (Nelson/Marlborough) to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Wow! A quick grab on the way to collect one or two other puzzle caches I have solved in the past few days. I remembered in my far distant memory banks this series, and decided it was probably worth seeing if I qualified! This is the first one of the 4: Ill have to trawl the found files to see which of the other 3 remaining caches we already qualify to log. Visiting from the state of Washington in the United States. We flew into Wellington. After the Te Papa museum and finding the oldest cache in New Zealand, we took the ferry to Picton. We went out to Lochmara Lodge for a day and then drove through Havelock to Nelson. We had a fun event with local geocachers in Nelson, then yesterday decided to take the water taxi from Marahou to Anchorage Bay to hike the trails including out to Pitt Head. We had lunch at Pitt Head Lookout. We had a great fun finding caches along the way. Ended up with 4 finds and only one DNF.Today I was out in Richmond and Nelson looking for some challenges and traditionals as well as my first letterbox in New Zealand. It was a fun morning. Now on to qualifying for the challenge.

I never looked closely at these "puzzles" but with more and more smiles showing up on the map close to where I live, I checked it out and thought that having just been on a long awaited overseas trip, I might be able to get this.
All found this year, so under the 6 months limit and surely after this cache was published
Also checked they are all active as of today and left a regular for the last.

This week is the only ‘free’ week I have till January so I decided to visit Nelson so I could have the letters ‘BGSc’ after my name, and start my ‘MGSc’. I have known about this series of caches for a few years and never thought I could complete them. Well, that was until a geocaching friend, who completed the Bachelor’s and Masters this year, thought I would qualify and kept gently reminding me to check my logs. I did and I qualified -today-. All of the caches in this list have been specifically chosen for a variety of reasons: FTF, I like where GZ is, puzzle, recently reinstated, good container.
Kia ora rawa atu for the cache Marchwood.

A mid-winter weekend trip down to the top of the South Island (from Wellington). I flew down to Blenheim of Friday afternoon and drove to Nelson on Saturday. As a result of not setting my Geocaching notifications correctly I ended up driving back to Blenheim on Sunday morning chasing a first to find (I failed), and then driving straight back to Nelson for a successful first to find. Amongst other reasons, I was here collecting a few caches I had on my radar, and this was one of them.
One of my main goals for this trip was to add to my list of qualifications, and finally gain my BGSc. Qualifying caches are:

One of my sons in Whangarei is going on an OE. He sold his car to his brother Tim in Dunedin and fortunately for me Tim wanted me to drive the car down. Of course I jumped at the idea of a geocaching roadie. I've had lots of puzzles solved for such a long time so geoarts were the main target of the trip.
In Palmy area I wanted the shield series and the 20/20 geoart. Then Wairarapa was stickman (which we ran out of time for), the new M geoart and some archived skindo challenges. Wellington was finishing off the kiwi geoart. Nelson I had a few challenges I wanted before heading to Christchurch. It was family time there and perhaps the smile series but time ran out again. Off to Dunedin for the airplane geoart. Then it was time to fly home to say goodbye to my son heading to Denmark.
It was great to have my friend Supernanny come along on the trip for company. We had a wonderful trip and fantastic weather apart from one afternoon. Now it's time to start writing the massive backlog of logs which is taking a while.
This was one of the main targets in this area. Unfortunately I forgot to collect all the numbers for the BGSC challenge cache. A quick find of this challenge that I had completed way back in 2018. It's taken me a while to get here to collect my smile. Thanks for the fun challenge

Upon discovering this series I was keen to be involved. I have done the work to determine my qualifications which are in the write note below. Today was the day of my intrepid adventure to sign the logs. On this trip I didn't want to rent a car - I was keen to go old school. Well I walked from the airport to nearest bus stop and missed bus by about 10mins. Next one was a hour away and would have missed the Richmond western loop I needed to get here, which was also on the 1 to 1.5 hr cycle. So the intrepid geocacher called a taxi! She then duly chased down her four important caches which were all present and in good order - whew. Walking back to the nearest bus route on Weasley road and flagging the bus also failed. I wasn't looking for such a small mini van and it was past before you know it - you guessed it another 1.5 hrs. So walked into Richmond (via a AL at the cemetry) and bus to Nelson. Tomorrow is bus to Picton for the compass crossover challenge and then the Tory Straight cache to Wellies. I feel this journey suitably meets the requirements of a geocaching bachelor's qual Thank you for keeping this going - very much appreciated. We love the challenges. TFT Qual

On a west coast adventure and on our way to Nelson for a few days . My first time to travel up the west coast of the south island In 20 years so this time we get to cache our way in to uncharted territory, so let's see what fun adventures awaite us bring it on.
Day five of our road trip , to day we are exploring the Nelson area ,let's see what fun adventures awaite us.
I could not pass this one up as I know I have the needed requirements to log .
I found all the different sizes on my 3000km though hike of nz on the Te Araroa trail.
But have more recent finds yo make up this one.
Cool challenge thanks
Getting out and about int the out doors is my happy place so any excuse to go caching.

Found at 25 January 2021 8:37 am on day two of a short holiday to the Nelson-Tasman region. As it's an area I haven't cached in before (and a long time since I've visited), I of course wanted to pick up some caches (but not as many as I would have liked, but family came first on this one). Thanks to all the cache owners for putting these out.
The cache was an easy find and in pristine condition, however because it's a replacement it doesn't have the code in it. And because another cache in the series also doesn't have the code in it, it's impossible to determine what letters should be in the cache, let alone what the numbers are. Apart from that, all good and TFTC
Within the 12 months up to a regular find, I found seven container types:
GC78YFE, Zip Under the Canopy (Manawatu), 22/12/2019, Large
GC5041Q, _(III)(Manawatu), 01/08/2020, Not chosen

We completed requirements to meet this challenge today with a letterbox cache and a regular size container in a special place - the Riwaka Resurgence.
We have been holidaying in the Nelson area mainly to visit muggle family so have limited our caching to more rare types like EarthCaches and Virtuals and in special locations, often with additional features like forest walks.
We were in Richmond today and this cache was close to the family home we were visiting, so it was able to be found quite quickly.
We have qualified with six different containers which are listed in the order of last find to the first find, a period of almost two and a half months:
Rural Delivery - Riwaka Letterbox, GC2J78M, Regular - 23/01/21
Riwaka Resurgence EarthCache, GC1JPHR, Not chosen - 23/01;21
Rooted to the Spot, GC5K1E4, Micro - 22/01/21
Waimea Estuary EarthCache, GC5Z3WC, Other - 22/01/21

Prospero Precinct, GC891WB, Virtual - 06/11/20
Thanks for the challenge. It’s always of interest to reflect on our caching experiences from different perspectives. TFTC

Day 6 of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).
(My apologies for the delayed logging but I'm in catch-up mode)
Seeing as I can't be in America right now, I'm touring around the South Island instead. During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.
Today was going to be a very long drive, going from Westport all the way up to Farewell Spit which is somewhere I have longed to visit for a very long time. I've been close, but never quite made it all the way up there before. The great weather of the last few days continued to follow me around the island too, which always helps set a good mood for a road trip.
Having already found 401, 301 and 201, I was hoping for a quick and easy find for 101 and so it turned out to be. The cache container itself is severely damaged, resulting in fairly knackered contents. I was still happy to claim this find. My qualification is as follows;
All caches found on February 29th of this year.
GC596RC Micro
GC2EGBX Small
GC2FCTM Regular
GC7TM4F Large
GC1N9RG Not Chosen
GC89178 Virtual

Thanks for setting up this Challenge Cache.
In the area today and noting we had earmarked several challenge caches that we have qualified for we drove round to grab the caches and sign the logs
Here an easy find
We have been on a tour of NZ since 10 Jan and have found trads, multis, unknowns, letterbox, wherigo, earthcache, virtually and an event during that time. With these finds we have managed to get all 7 of the sizes.
This was found easily and log signed

Meanwhile this is my third geocaching-trip to Middle-Earth . And I love it! [:X]
Still there are routes and places in this beautiful country that are on the 'discover-me' list and want to be visited and explored. .
Although Nelson was already part of the tour back in 2017, due to the bad weather [xx(] there was not much of caching [B)] then.
So today (#24) with splendid, sunny weather was dedicated to make up for that and to tour around the beautiful area of Nelson and Richmond - by foot and by car .
There were some cool challenge-caches to be collected ....
And on top, the goal was to manage finding 7 different cache-types in one single day - YESSSS!!! [^] [^]
So I was busy to pick up a lot of cute local treasures [^] - just like this one:
Unfortunately the lid of the cache container is broken !
The bonus information is still there , hopefully it does not get lost. Anyway - would be good to replace the container.
Thanks to the owner [:X] for placing and maintaining this cache and best regards from Germany!

I saw this challenge ages ago and just went through my finds to work out which caches would be good for which challenge in this series. I wanted to log my qualifying caches while I was organised. I've been looking at sizes a lot for another challenge series I'm working on at the moment and surprisingly nanos seem very hard to come by. A fun challenge thanks

A quick find after a wander in the Richmond Hills with SJT_NZ, only one DNF and one failed attempt but all in all a fun outing and great views of the bay. All in good order, TFTC
A quick find with TregearP whilst out in the hills this afternoon. All in good order, signed log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache, challenge and series beltfamily.
I'ive started my beautiful trip of the South Island in Christchurch, I've visited many beautiful locations. I've travelled via Lake Tapeko, from Dunedin to the most southern part of Bluff. I've then continued with a cruise in Milford Sound and then back to Queenstown.
From there on I've visited Wanaka and the Haast pass to the Franz Josef glacier. I went all the way up to the Abel Tasman NP. Richmond und Nelson as the sonnierst cities were on my list as well.
I've soon reached the east coast in Picton and Blenheim.
After a couple of days, I've then travelled back to Christchurch via Kaikoura.
I've spent a couple of days in Christchurch and it's surroundings.
I've visited many geological sites and have found many caches along the way.
I've travelled 3500km and have experienced so much.
Thank you to all the owners

From there on I've visited Wanaka and the Haast pass to the Franz Josef glacier. I went all the way up to the Abel Tasman NP. Richmond und Nelson as the sonnierst cities were on my list as well.
I've soon reached the east coast in Picton and Blenheim.
After a couple of days, I've then travelled back to Christchurch via Kaikoura.
I've spent a couple of days in Christchurch and it's surroundings.
I've visited many geological sites and have found many caches along the way.
I've travelled 3500km and have experienced so much.
Thank you to all the owners

I'm from Norway, escaping the cold winter and travelling around New Zealand for 7 weeks, using geocaching as my tourguide. Today I spent the day in rainy Nelson, focusing on virtual caches and challenge-caches.
I really enjoyed these series, already looking at it back in Norway, I decided to go for them.
This cache was an easy find, and I noted the number in the lid.
Here is my qualifying list:
Micro: GC700TC Glorious Piha! 01/12/17
Not chosen: GC1QMRD Waitakere Supervolcano 1: Layers (Auckland) 05/12/17
Other: GC3TTCY A Tombolo in the Making (Auckland) 06/12/17
Virtual: GC7B7TH Hundertwasser - Te Kakano (Whangarei) 07/12/17

Small: GC5ECB4 Flying North (Far North) 08/12/17
Regular: GC4WNFT Te Weraha Vista (Far North) 08/12/17

T-Tech and I are travelling around South Island for 6 weeks
We stayed last night at Motueka, and headed to Nelson today.
This series of caches was high on my hit-list as I qualified for them all [^] All four came to hand fairly readily, and we noted the clues for the final. TFTC, beltfamily.

New Zealand ... a dream for every traveling [8)]
A little more than 20 years ago I've been here, but since then much has changed and that's also good! Now I'm back here ... 1 week North Island and 2 weeks South Island ... cool [^] Of course, I want to visit a few caches. Especially dissolved puzzle caches, which I find particularly attractive Best thanks to all the owners !! Greetings from the Swiss "Kiwi"
Natürlich rauchte der Fotoapparat, man will ja zuhause nochmals alles anschauen

Together with arbor95 I am on a holiday tour in New Zealand.
We are two Germans, old friends since a long time. Together we visited a lot of other countries in the past, even before we started geocaching. [^]
For our trip we usually looking for some extraordinary caches.
Therefore we had mostly a lot of fun.

#8630. Having qualified for BGSc 101, we went to Hart Road in Richmond to find and sign the log book. GZ was reasonably quiet when we visited, despite having to wait for the occasional traffic to go past. Quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

#2799. After attending a funeral in Blenheim yesterday, I decided to spend the night in Nelson and give myself a chance to make start on the very large numbers of caches in this region. I have made a pretty big dent on local caches in Wellington so it is rather fun to be in an area where every street has a pile of caches waiting to be discovered. By 4pm when I dropped off the rental car at the airport, I had managed to harvest 37 caches between Nelson and Motueka (plus one more cache in Wellington to fulfil the requirements for the "North and South Island in One Day Challenge" GC5RJFK). My primary focus was picking up challenge caches in the Nelson area. So here I was on a fine Saturday morning hunting the BGSc prerequisite caches. I parked nearby but had to wait for a muggle and his dog to walk past. Grabbed the cache and signed the log. Only after doing the second cache in this series did I remember I needed the code so popped back here later to finish off the task. Thanks for the challenge and the cache.
I am heading over to Nelson this weekend so hopefully will get a chance to locate this cache. Meantime here are the qualifying caches. Had to redo some after reading the fine print. Quite a few requirements.

Once in a lifetime we wanted to travel to the other side of the world. This year we took a chance and made a 4 weeks trip to New Zealand! Although caching was not the main purpose, we had our GPS prepared and when we were close to a cache, we of course looked for it and logged it. So we found several dozens of "kiwi-caches" and want to thank all the owners!!
Today we had a challenge day in the region of Nelson. First of all we wanted to get our BGSc, seems to be the equivalent of the german "Jodeldiplom". So we absolved the 4 courses before. This is our result for 101:

A nice morning for a bikeride and a skateboard with Jaxxy1201. Hopefully we'll be back by lunch. A nice peaceful find. You can see my qualifications in the previous log. The hills were challenging to ride and bike on. Nice challenge.
We are heading to Nelson on Saturday. I hope to get the geocache when we are there. Here are my qualifying geocaches:

Now that I have finally logged all my geocaches in New Zealand, I can finally start checking the logged challenges on our world trip. For this challenge it took a little longer to check the required criteria, as there is no automatic checker. But it looks like the short walk together with Silli1310 to the challenges on 27.12.2014 was worth it, as I am now fulfilling this challenge. Thanks for the cache and the little challenge.

No problems with either the qualification or finding the cache so off to a good start with this series TFTC and here are oiur qualifiers
Last summer the idea was born to visit [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green], together with [url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url]
After some important decisions regarding the beginning of our trip, the flights, the general route and the car were made, the most important question was still unanswered: which caches can we visit during our tour [?]
To get an answer for this topic I was fetching almost every cache from both islands [8)][:X]
[url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] and I love [Teal]'Geo-Arts'[/Teal]...so we added all these cache series to our wish list
After this decision was made this list was more than 300 puzzle caches long...unsolved puzzle caches
Two weeks before Christmas it was getting time to start solving all these mystery caches
Even with the different language I could find almost every solution
In the case I was not so successful I was contacting some of the CO's...and was always getting help from them...many thanks for this support [:X]
During the following weeks our cache list was growing and growing...meanwhile more than 1000 caches long...too long for a simple bookmark list from GC
Time to get our route and caches in sync...time to save the PQ's to our Garmins...time to start this holiday:
Chapter 14: [green]Westport[/green] to [red]Picton[/red]
Our last day at the southern island [8)]
On our long drive to [red]Picton[/red] we stopped of course for some caches [:X]
This challenge cache of a great challenge series was one of them
My seven qualifying caches are the same as for [url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url]
I would like to thank all the cache owners for showing us these great places and maintaining all these caches,

First trip away for the year and it had to be down to Wellington & Nelson to see customers and do a spot of Rep training. Arrived first thing this morning and it was straight over to Blenheim and back to this side of the hill for client meetings with the rep (and lots of coffee).
Collected this one after having been out to "Bulwer Drive By"
As I am working on my DT Grid this came up as one that I needed and so while in the area it was high on the importance to find stakes. So as soon as I could escape from work for the day it was to collect a multi and then head further afield to collect others, (This being one of them). When I told my rep where I was headed he said I was mad and that I wouldn't be back to well after midnight. I infact managed to be not only back but collected other challenge caches and back to the hotel in Nelson by 11.20pm.
PLease find Qualifying caches List
All Caches are currently active and where found on 20 AUG 2014.
the final cache we found on that day was GC287H4 Yellow Rock "Regular"
thanks for the memories and the cache
