Completing the new Adventure Lab; one of the waypoints nearby, grabbed this cache. Signed log. Put lid back on the log container. Obviously previous finders have opened the container at the wrong end. All good here TFTC
Note: I had previously saved this geocache off-line and discover upon my return to home base it's been Archived, yesterday! No matter... it's currently still there. Open from the *bolt* end

Generic Log for todays caching. Target today was the Stickman series with Barefoot Guru. We left early in the morning to head up to Palmy, with a focus on puzzle caches not too far off the road that we had solved. Enjoyed the day and got back well after 8pm. Most caches in good condition. Thanks for the caches. Great container, but appears to be not quite functional. Inside container was unscrewed and we could not put it back like it should be. Still in good condition though.
Quick find Nice container but like previous cachers we couldn’t remove the lid and had to go through the bottom (I see there’s already a NM). Thanks KJ!
We've travelled up from Invercargill to take a break from reality and to use up some credit from another getaway we'd planned which fell through due to Covid 19. This would have been lovely back in the day, you can see for miles! It's a shame some dirty lazy people have used it as a dumping spot. Nice wee hide. TFTC
Took the long way round to this, grazing leg in the process clambering over old tree trimmings. Found cache ok, but took a moment to get into with wet cold hands. Undid bolt, and still couldn't get lid off. Tried the other end and it came off eventually. Inside jar wasn't attached to lid, and couldn't reattach.
The find was quite simple as I found it. It is likely that the cache is no longer in the original hiding spot and the CO may want to look at it. TFTC.
Took longer than it should of but was determined it had to be here as this is my 800th find.

11.40am. Parked at the top and walked down. Thought it may have been compromised buy a number of pine branches that were laying in the area, but by scrambling over them I was able to reach GZ and with accurate coords it was a quick find.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
The trees have taken over the view so it is now more a look-through than a look-out. But still a nice spot to stop off.
This is a fantastic cache with a lot of great swag but unfortunately we found it on the ground and not secured as per the description so it will need some maintenance but is still in great condition. Gets a favourite point from us. Thanks Kiwijockey.

Travelling back from Masterton parked high and walked down to it looked at the first place I thought and was still meters away got there in the end and got the right end for the log fun cache to do TFTC
Took the long way round to this cache with JutyBug, but finally located it. Worked out the mechanics of it and got the log safely signed. Nice panorama of the Manawatu. TFTC
Caching in the night now on our way back home from the Wairarapa. Log book very wet but managed to sign as WNZ. Tube not attached to anything but still all there - will need some maintenance. TFTC.
#6950. Nice to be back on a road trip again. I am heading up north via Palmerston North and Hawkes Bay. So picking up a few caches on this side of the river before I head over to my next stop in Pahiatua. Aim today is to locate quite a few skindo caches as they are being archived at an alarming rate at present.
I managed to get the car through the barrier blocks and park on the old rest area. Unfortunately today its covered in rubbish. Why do people drive up hills above cities to throw out their garbage in places like this? I just don't understand what drives some people. Thought I knew where the cache was but no its further away. Once at GZ it was a quick find as its rather a large container. Once I had figured out how to get the inner part out I located one trackable. Signed the logbook and returned the cache as found. Thanks kiwijockey for the cache.

Walk over to where I thought the cache might be but alas it was still 17 meters away Scoria was the one to get this one
Out caching with Scoria today collecting mainly park and grab caches His aim this year is to get one hundred caches for each month of the year mine is still to fill in my dot days for the calendar year unfortunately today doesn't help with my dot days I prefer to go caching with some one and not overly keen to go out by myself so that is why I still have a lot of dot days missing
Thanks for the Cache

This year I am trying to ensure that each geocaching month in my finds calendar has at least 100 finds.
Today's plan, seventeen caches, over the Pahiatua track, turn left down Kopikopiko Road, then head to Pahiatua to round up the urban caches.
a 2010 cache. looks like the view here has diminished with tree growth over the years, cache however is still in good condition, although I suspect it may have been placed a little differently in its hey day.
Cheers, thanks for the placement.

TFTC. Easy parking on both sides of road. Relatively easy to get to and quick find! No tools needed but a strong grip is a must. Tools wont actually open the cache. Just mess with the internal workings....dropped a travel bug. Have fun Gramps!
Quick find on the way to the Wings airshow. Fingers crossed the weather holds out!

19 January 2019 10:12. Found in the third *obvious* place I checked... Took a while before I was able to add my name to the shopping list, thanks for something a bit different.
We were really heading the wrong way to pick this one up but managed to cross the road safely and the cache was soon in hand. Thanks
On our way to the Manawatu Geocaching Club People's Choice Awards 2018 pot luck dinner we stopped here with the_jinx to make our find of the day. While the other 2Prettys reclined in the car we headed for our first guess at ground zero, then headed down the hill to actual GZ. the_jinx found the container first, then we spent several minutes trying to wrench it open. Finally we decided to head back up the hill and get some support from Mr 3Prettys. Several minutes later, with the help of a screwdriver, we got the wrong end open. Several minutes (and a lot of dirty water later) we got the right end open, signed the log, and the_jinx ran back down the hill to replace as found.
Thanks for the cache!

Today the MGC People's Choice Awards were happening in Palmerston North and 3Prettys had kindly given me a ride up. On the way we stopped at a couple geocaches to attempt to find them. We only found this one geocache since the other geocache had a resident possum sleeping on it.
The car was stopped a little far out from the geocache so, Mrs 3Prettys and I got out and walked our way over to what we believed to be the GZ, but we were still about 20 metres away. We made continued our way forward and down the hill. Once at the GZ, the geocache container was a very quick find, from the description I can gather that it was supposed to have been attached to something but it was lying on the ground when we found it. I attempted to get the lid off but I had no luck, then I got Mrs 3Prettys to try and she couldn't either so then we both pulled and it still didn't work, so we headed back to the car with the geocache to see if any car tools could open it up for us. After a while of going through equipment we got the lid off with some kitchen tools that were in the boot, but it wasn't the right side, so we couldn't actually get to the log to be able to sign it. We then spent a couple more minutes trying to get the other side open, after a lot of effort and a lot of dirty water going everywhere, we finally pried open the other ( correct ) side. TFTC, we have had quite the adventure with the geocaches we tried to find this morning so it felt good to sign the log of at least one geocache before the event!!

Found on the trip over from Levin to Masterton with my lad today.
The road was quiet enough so that we were able to find, retrieve, and sign the log without any fuss or bother.
Lovely views to be had from the parking spot.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

This was my second visit to this cache as the first time I visited I couldn't open the cache container. This time around I was able to open it and put pen to paper......success feels good!
The road is quiet tonight so no worries with muggles.

Mr Bigflax pulled on one end while Mrs Bigflax held the other end. Kids thought it was funny seeing this sort of carry on.....
On way back to Hastings, stopped to look at the great view of Manawatu and look for this cache, thinking it was not too far away from where I parked, ( wrong thout ) I ended up walked through the long grass, ( it's like a jungle ), to where the cache is. After a short look cache was in hand, but alas I couldn't sign log, as I was unable to open cache. I have permission from CO to log this find. Cheers
Thanks for the cache. This is our find number 732 and we found it at 10:48:42 AM NZST on 15 September 2017.
#1001 The Lost Treasure of Mary Hyde promotion beckoned us out today to find a cache with some favourite points. We had tried to get to this one on a previous occasion but there was a muggle parked up, obviously admiring the view, or whatever else people get up to here - probably generating rubbish and throwing it out of his car.... so much rubbish around here - maybe a good place for a CITO.
With DangerSAM in hand, i ventured down to find the cache. A nice sized cache that could be seen on approach but you wouldnt noticed it unless you were looking for it. JimmyNZ did the signing. Took nothing, left nothing and signed log. Thanks for bringing us here kiwijockey.

#595 Out today making use of the sun shine and good weather for once. Gr33nslime, DangerSAM and I went for a cruise around palmy and after some errands ended up here for a quick park and grab. We’d intended to get this one before but there were muggles about last time. Not today though! We picked this one due to the need to find the lost treasure of Mary Hyde. After using Project GC to find a cache Gr33nslime and I hadn’t found (well mainly her) with a good number of favorites we ended up here. After parking the car it was only a very short walk to the cache. Very cool container, but it seems that the wet has gotten in to it at some stage as the log book was very damp and we were just able to sign. While Gr33nslime and DangerSAM admired the view I very quickly signed the log book and put the cache away. Lucky the traffic on the road was very sparse even with the gorge being closed at the moment. Thanks for putting a cache there, as it is definitely worth the visit.
Mum and dad dragged me out here to find pirate treasure, but im not sure a ship could get up here. The road is too windy. I like the view because I could see trees and clouds.
Wow, what happened here? Must have been a big slip. As for the lookout, I'm quite saddened at it's deterioration - it can't even be used as a car park. In my university days I came here a couple of times. Once when nearing the end of a bike journey with a couple of friends - we had cycled up through the gorge and then down to Pahiatua, after performing the requisite bowing at Mangatainoka, then coming over the track. The second time I drove my girlfriend up here to enjoy the night view . Enough reminiscing, it was time to hunt for the cache. I started heading over but then saw it was about time to change out of my sneakers and put on my walking boots. Following the GPS I eventually found something interesting and soon had my hands on the cache. Replaced and headed back to the car to carry on up the road. TFTC
Not even a carpark now! Concrete blocks have seen to that. NIce quick find thanks.
On the way back home now, driving to Lower Hutt. Last caching day on the holiday . Time to find a few little boxes.....
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

A great cache that was fun to find. We went the long downhill way to the cache. Gorgeous day to see in all directions from here. TFTC
A bit tricky getting down the bank as the ground was very wet. Surprised to find so much water inside the cache, but the logbook was OK.
After reaching gz we found a better place we should have parked .... found cache easy and cool concept picked up tb.Tftc
A strange layby/lookout area that is cordoned off but managed to park up in front of the concrete bollards and go for a short walk. Found the cache which was nicely constructed, but unfortunately the log was wet (how does that happen with all the levels of water proofing???) and the brace attachment had been broken. TFTC!
Come over here alot this time had the time for caching log damp but could still write Tftc
Coming back from Wanganui I was looking for a cache to stop at on the way that had parking space so we could take a break, had a decent number of favourite points showing it was worth visiting and was a Regular sized container so it could happily swallow the TB I wanted to deposit. From the description this one met all three criteria. When we arrived at the right place it wasn't quite like that...
First of all it isn't possible to get into the car park any longer: there are some hefty concrete blocks preventing vehicle access. Beyond the little car park, in the direction of GZ, there were no tracks of any description, but some very long grass. I waded through it to get to GZ and rapidly found the cache and soon worked out how to get the lid off. There were several cms of water in the bottom of the outer tube which I tipped out. Inside was the cache proper, which wasn't big enough for my TB, being only Small, though the outer tube is Regular size. I solved that one by perching the TB on top of the inner cache as I reassembled everything after signing the rather damp log book.
There was a view from where we had parked just beyond the ex-car park, but too much slope to stay and make a cup of tea, so we headed off in Barnaby to Pahiatua instead.
Pity about the car park situation, but TFTC anyway.

This was our last spot to stop at on our trip back to Palmerston North from ocean beach. Thanks for the hide! Great one!

I was wondering when I saw the bulldozer tracks if this would still be here, happy it was an easy find after a frustrating day yesterday - though everything inside is damp
Nice easy find and interestingly crafted and camo'd container! Appears undisturbed by the excavating and planting work going nearby. Loads of potential to one day become a really nice lookout spot.
Thanks for the outstanding cache Kiwijockey.
It was hard to miss once I got over the well decomposed animal carcass near the Parking area.
Log signed (nice and dry) - and cache returned to it's great position

It was decided that three of us would meet up at the start of the gorge walk to tidy up some un-found caches in the area. Since I didn't start work until later I left early to pick up some caches on the way. I had an unsuccessful start to the day with a DNF and two unable-to-be-attempted caches as council workers were in the way.
I remember coming up here when you could still see Palmy. How things have changed since then. It could almost be mistaken for a rubbish dump now. Cache took a while to spot as I was looking in all the wrong places first.
Thanks for the cache and the smiley.

Found the cache but couldn't get the lid off. Photo will be send to owner to verify this. It is a pity the trees have grown so much and hidden the view. TFTC.
One of many great caches found with Envy-Us and Waiiti20 on a 100 plus find caching day in the Wairarapa. Many thanks to the CO's for the cache placements, the many puzzle caches we found, the great journey we had around the many back country roads, and the many interesting places we visited. Sorry for the generic type log. TFTC.
An enjoyable day in the North Western Wairarapa with Waiiti20 and drawp. A generic log due to the many finds, but our thanks to those who have placed caches in this scenic area - both roadside and in the Tararua Forest Park. We enjoyed some fun finds and a few lonely caches but most of all an excuse to drive (on almost every road thanks skindo) through this part of the country. A bit of pruning may be required to restore the view! TFTC
Came to palmy to do sum Christmas shopping. Quick drive around to grab sum caches before heading home. TFTC
Nice hide! Drive past here every day so thought id best stop sometime. Picked up RFQ8Q3 and it will be on its way overseas tomorrow! Tftc!
Found on a trip to Palmerston North and Masterton

Found on my way up to the windfarm. A great parking area. the walk to the cache was not too difficult at all, quite a geotrail developing. A nice cache container found here. Didn't see the TB in there though.
[blue]Thanks for the effort that has gone in to this cache. Easy find TFTC.[/blue]
Found it on the way to the Wairarapa , nice cache although the log is damp needs replacing CO may want to log the TB missing TFTC
First for the day easy find by taybee nz the log was wet we had ice at GZ also at 10.45am TFTC log by Gsak
Very cool cache, after I finally found it.
The area is filthy. There is a bucket of human umm... Bio-solids? What on earth for? Maybe some travelers dumped it?
Hope it will be cleaned up again one day.

A really enjoyable day with a few finds bewteen Palmerston North and Piahatua to get to the start line of the power trail to Eketahuna. Mannaged to find them all, ticking off 89 caches in about 5 hours. Thanks for the placements, certainly bigger caches than on many power trails I've seen.
Followed a few geotrails in circles before the GPS suggested I go both down the bank and over fences so I ignored it and followed my Geo-senses to victory.
Found with Tommygun9. TFTC

Start of the big day out geacaching. Nice easy find this time. Last time it was dark so couldnt figure out how to get to it. TFTC
A quick find, last of the day before heading back to Wellington. Parked in the carpark and the GPSr led me through all the wet long grass to the cache so ended up fairly wet myself. Nice container, very well done. That one sure ain't gonna get a wet logbook! Signed log, TFTC
The first of a number of Sunday caches. That is true, this site once offered a very engaging view out across the plains of the Manawatu which has now been 'grown out'. It's kind to refer to it as a rest stop and car park, as it has also become a rubbish dump. Why do we go about trashing our own countryside? Makes no sense.
Clever cache container display some exceptional cache engineering skills. Well done.
Straightforward find, log signed; cache re-hidden safely, as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too you beaut!

Found, but had to walk through long wet grass. Wish I had gone the long way round. Well made container. TFTC
cool cache, found it in the dark and was surprise with one of the contents (very cool).
I use to live in Palmy and work in Pahiatua so drove this road every day...nearly 20 years ago - everything has grown so big - used to be a great view on this stretch. TFTC
Approached this one the long way before spotting the cache and choosing an easier route. Soon had cache in hand. TFTC.
