Finding this dam place took a bit of bouncing the geomobile around the ruts and mudholes through the forest
But I got there !!
And under a suspicious looking bit of natural camo,
the cache was found
TFTC on a quiet morning before the madness started !!

Decided to get a smiley on this one before going to the Event seeing that we were so close.

Put Mrs Perpetuallylost in the drivers seat after stopping at the previous cache on this road, Old Mine. Bit sad to see these reservoirs dry but thats an Aussie Summer for you. Thx again Pirateute for your caches, both had spot on coords for us and were both in excellent condition. Cheers
Took longer to find our way in here than to find this cache.
Reservoir has some awful brown water... probably empty until recent rains.
Can't imagine it being full with nice water.
Removed some rubbish e.g. broken sunnies. Who knows why people can leave rubbish in a cache.. poor etiquette!

This cache lies only 3 km from my home. Just got into geocaching, so had to go collect this one. I did it in my preferred style, by human power, and rode my mountain bike out. Lots of deep wheel ruts in the tracks, which wasn't an issue for me but could be for some cars. Most could be avoided fairly easily I think. Be careful to stick to the main tracks and not venture off onto any others within the dense network that exists here. The cache was found easily and log signed, thanks Pirateute.
Find #1818 for me. Found with jtnsilo at 12:55 pm. Getting to this one was interesting. I didn't want to take my 2WD car on the dirt road leading to the Reservoir so left it back at the fork just past the old mine and walked the remaining 800m to GZ. Then about 200m along the track I realized I'd left my GPS back at the car (how did I do that!??) but we could still navigate in using my companion's smart phone so I didn't bother going back for it. Once at GZ we made a quick find in another lovely location. This was our last find for the day because I had to get back to Bendigo for school pick-up at 3:30 pm and we wanted to grab a bite to eat in Maryborough before heading home. We only found 5 caches in all but had a great time walking through the bush on a lovely cool day (best time of year for it!) and each cache took us to an interesting location full of amazing history - places we'd never visit if not for the caches placed there. Thanks for bringing us to the Old Carrisbrook Res today Pirateute and thanks for the cache!
Could be a lovely place here on a hot day. Nice cache location. Signed log and returned to secure position again.
Tonight we headed to Maryborough to catch up with fellow catcher becca85 and co. so left a little earlier to find a cache or two. A nice muddy drive in and a quick find at GZ. Amazing how much water is hidden behind trees. Many thanks for the cache.
TFTC. Linda was in sewing mode so I went out solo. First to Tallaroup Res. Coming in from that side I pulled up near the old wall and walked the last 300 metres. Quick easy find. There is some water in the old dam well utilised by a flock of ducks. The way home was a bit more direct.
Great interesting location.
Never thought there will be something like this in and around town. Used the hint and located this one quickly.

Suscoe had a big day out caching today.
230 kms on the speedo by the time we stopped and a terrific day of caching was had.
The day started out with 5 degrees as we headed for Ballarat but soon the numbers started climbing and by tea time is was 34 degrees on the car dial.
The countryside is so very dry up this way but it is February and it is the central highlands.
The traffic was light and we saw a few wallabies out in the bush.
Thanks to Pirateute for bringing us here.
What a delight at the end of the track.
The track itself was worth it with some pretty deep options for the more adventurous driver.

I was pleased to be here in the dryer weather...could be a bit boggy in the winter. Thanks Pirateute.
With the warmer weather drying out the tracks we headed across to the reservoir from the old mine without any problems. Great spot for 4X4 driving and we did appreciate the yellow paint on the tree trunk warning us the ruts were deep....they looked it. After signing the log we took a different road out but not the real "fun" track we spotted on our left.
Thanks Pirateute for the placement.

Wat a blast! Did this one in the rain with now idea where to go. Got lost and ended down a one way track on 3wheels. Looking in heavy rain but worth the find
Off the beaten track.
GPS was all over the place here. Rough track for a 2wd! Left pearl necklace for a ruby.

Found with chooknchunk. We had a great day out in Maryborough. Some wonderful caches. I never would have come here if it wasn't for these guys. My car wouldn't cut the track. Tftc
Out early this morning grabbing a couple of last minute caches before leaving town, we made our way out to the gz in the mighty mitsy and managed a quick find with this cache. TFTC Pirateute and for bringing us out to this somewhat forgotten area.
Well once again our GPS took us on a rather interesting route into this hide. Yep... we didnt take the nice road that went almost right up to the cache... NOOOOOOOOOOOOO..... Garmin said, hey, wouldnt it be great to come along the dam wall. Fergzter said.... No. stuff that. So we found a small track along the bottom of the dam wall. We made it within 70m of the cache after a creek crossing and driving across the spillway... yeah probably shouldnt have done that, but oh well. But we were beaten by the short pinch of a hill on the opposite side of the spillway. A loss off traction meant that we did a 20 point turn on the spillway before pointing the geovehicle in the right direction. After which we just got out and walked the last little bit. Lesson learnt..... never believe a road gps.... always use a proper GPSr with topo maps loaded...
A nice easy find in the end and some interesting bush tracks and a good memory to boot. For this this hide gets a fav point from us.
Thanks to Pirateute for the adventure.

Found this cache today giving the hounds a run. A great little spot, that would have been lovely to fish at. Hopefully it fills up again one day. TNLN TFTC

Looks like some 4WD's and trail bikes have had some fun when the track has been wet. We just tried to avoid a few of the deeper ruts on our drive through today. Pity about the lack of water, but guess it has been this way for a while now. SL at 10.50am Left: animals and windmill PT Took: marble #2832 TFTC Pirateute
Found our way in along the bumpy washrutted track to the reservoir, which was bone dry today. A quick find and then back along the bumpy track to Maryborough. TFTC Pirateute
Ye olde reservoir is looking a little dry these days. A quick find here and we were on our way again. Thanks for the hide.
Very bumpy ride, think I need to get myself a 4WD! Easy find although we had to dodge some motorbikers. Took bubbles and toy, left troll & ring. Kids loved the swag. TFTF
Found this after coming through the bush by foot the long way. Easy find then long walk back to the car. TNLN TFTC Pirateute.
Shame it's not gold but it one looked hard enough here you could find some I have
I continued on from the 'Old Mine' to this cache. I enjoyed the exploration through the forest. Found this cache easily enough as the GPS was spot on today. Took nothing but left a glow in the dark beetle. Thanks for bringing me here Pirateute and the cache of course.
Echo21 and Hubby. Nice easy find. The reservoir even had a good bit of water in it. Another spot we would never have found without Geocaching. Took a marble and left a fridge magnet. SL TFTC Pirateute
Nice spot for a cache. There was water in the res. today. We found the cache easily but had a bit of trouble with the tracks on the way in. Not sure that we went the best way but with a 4wd it was ok. Thanks Pirateute
Found with MissJane, MonMon & Trout.
Had a couple of new cachers with us for the drive around the local area. Doing what all Cachers do. Using Billion Dollar Technology, Looking for Bits of Plastic in the Bush.
This was an easy find. Thanks for bring us to this beautiful part of the country.

Nice day for a walk from Marryborough, discovered the Wombat TB and traded items. Signed log ... Thanks for the Hide!!!
Stopped here for a lunch break after locating the cache. Fortunately no bikes around although we could hear a couple in the distance. Dropped off Wombat TB.

We found it lived here all my life and have never been to the carisbrook res!! Just beautiful!! Kids loved it
A nice drive in today.
The roads were wet but the quartz gravel means they are not very slippery.
The cache was an easy find once at GZ.
The reservoir has a bit of water in it but not a lot.
Thanks for showing us this place.

Things here would have been spectacular in the heyday. I could imagine myself sitting somewhere nearby pulling out fish from a full reservoir....Oh well, to dream. TFTC
