Funnily enough, we had an exchange student from that area! So I definitely had to do it and took the turnoff today to locate. TFTC!!
Was a bit concerned as there was no checksum for this but position looked feasible so I popped along the short distance along the road to have a look. Turned out to be a nice easy find, and my first NZ Mystery so you'd best have a FP
Its the first day of the year, and we are having a pretty chilled/jaded morning. The urge for an outing takes over, so off we go. I remember visiting some rather good stone circles in The Orkney Islands, but nothing quite on this scale - very impressive! Quick find at GZ, although not in the container we were expecting. Thanks Little Blue Hen
It's December, and to help me achieve one of my Geocaching goals I need to log 300+ caches this month, which means an average of ten a day. I started off well, but had a glitch in the middle which has left me behind my target. Today I was aiming for 31 finds, but I only ended up with 27. That puts me on 196 with just 5 days to go. But, they are holiday days, and I have a trip to Hawkes Bay and back to complete before the end. It will be close, but I think I will make it.I didn't have this cache on my todo list for the day, but as I was driving past I recognised the area and remembered that this was here so just managed to swing into the exit I needed to before it was too late. I had solved this puzzle some time ago, twice. The first time I had made a mistake and so when I had first searched for this cache (also some time ago) I had searched in the wrong place, and consequently I had not found anything. I then resolved the puzzle and got some better looking coordinates, and that's where I went today. I employed some creative parking techniques that had me park right next to where the cache was, and so had the log singed and returned nice and quickly. All good here.---Thanks to Little Blue Hen for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge
23 December 2023 16:24 . Think I want to carnac many years ago on a family holiday, must have been about 8 at the time! Been meaning to collect this one for a few years now. TFTC Little Blue Hen for placing this cache, number 13181 for me.
After some correspondence with the last finder I rechecked my clues and the web link and lo and behold it was necessary to ament the clue for "X". Somehow missed by self and checker.Should make more sense now.
I don't recall solving this so I suspect I must have had a giant nudge to get the solution. Regardless, todays the day to grab the final.
After doing a few errands I went for a wander to gz which was nice and quiet while I was there.
No problems finding the cache.
Thanks for setting this up.

Last night I realised would be coming to this area and decided to see where this puzzle landed. That turned out to be a bit harder than I thought. Three very detailed checks later and I am still in the dog kennels, like many others before me
So I reached out to a previous finder who helped with where it is, but also dosent know how to solve the puzzle. Now I can see what the final answer should be, but I can't get there yet. Curious to know what I've missed, but since I am in the area today I paid a visit to the site - despite not working out how to get there by myself yet! Thanks for the great puzzle - I think

I really enjoyed this interesting puzzle. Arriving at what I thought was GZ, I found myself at the dog kennels mentioned by several other finders. I reached out to a couple of sources for help, and a previous finder advised me that I had one of the numbers wrong. I haven’t checked the source data yet, so am not sure if it was me getting it wrong. Looking at previous logs, I am wondering if there has been a change to the source data.
Armed with the correct co-ordinates, I was at the correct GZ with cache in hand in no time.
Thank you to CO for the puzzle and cache

Received a tip after ending up in the dog house (kennels). Quick find of replacement today, right where it wasn’t my previous 2 attempts. Didn’t know the extent of these stones, thanks Little Blue Hen!
#11,774. This is quite a fascinating puzzle. I first encountered the term Menhir when working on Campbell Island decades ago. It referred to a hill with a rock sticking out at the top and was named by a French expedition in the 1800's. So I at least know something about menhirs even if I have not been to Carnac. I worked my way through the questions and decided the answer can't be Carnac as it was on a private property. Put it aside for a while and then had a another look and with one tweak of one answer I had a very plausible spot. Visited there but there was no cache. Checking logs I see it was missing at the time. The cache was eventually replaced and I came back with a previous finder but alas it appeared to be missing once more. So today heading north I stopped for a third time and had a forensic level search of the object. Nope its definitely missing again. Hoping the CO doesn't mind but I anchored a bison tube there as its frustrating when your replacement caches go AWOL and you have better things to do than service renegade caches. Thanks Little Blue Hen for the educational puzzle cache.
I started on this puzzle over a year ago, quickly found all the correct source material and extracted coordinates. Unfortunately, they were incorrect and I couldn't see my error, so put to one side. Revisited the puzzle a couple of times since then, still couldn't see the error. Pulled it out again last week, this time I looked at one of my answers from a slightly different perspective, and there it was. A different result at least, although with no geo-checker I was reluctant to trust my own working. So it was with a little uncertainty that I approached GZ today. I needn't have worried. The cache was safe and sound and easily found. I noted that about the time that I first started the puzzle it had gone awol anyway, since replaced. FP from me for a fascinating subject and a head-scratcher! TFTC!
Thanks for replacing.
I said in my DNF log the cache hadn't been found since last year- in fact it was the year before last!
No problems with the find this time- EXACTLY where the food wrapper was on my last visit.
Cache is a bit of tight fit but got there OK.
TFTC, an interesting topic I knew nothing about before.

Ran into a bit of difficulty with the puzzle, asked for help from the CO and when I saw the reply from her "other half" it seems likely there may have been a small change to the reference source.
I hadn't noticed that there had been no finds or logged DNFs since June last year. Couldn't find any sign of a cache, only a food wrapper!

(# 5119). Solved a while ago and decided to finally grab this one today. A quick find on a quiet day. Everything in order. Thanks for the puzzle.
Out catching with CO passed this one so very kindly allowed us to find the final cache. Signed and returned. TFTC
After spending much time on this puzzle and, like others, continuing to arrive at the dog kennels, I recently was given a very useful hint from a very nice cacher, which enabled me to finally knock this one off. TFTC
In the area for a couple of days so early morning walk in the drizzle and although it can't be carnac it can be a cache. All quiet and no problems with find. Nice to get another solved puzzle off that pile. Now home for a shower and work. Thanks for the puzzle and thanks for the cache.
Well what a mystery this has turned out to be! Having thought I had found the cache last week, only to discover from the CO that I had made a small mistake with my co-ordinates. But my wrong co-ords had still somehow taken me to the precise location of an object that looked very much like a cache.
One week later, I've come back to grab the mystery object for further investigation, and whilst I was at it I also found and signed the real cache, so at least I can feel good about logging the find

Checked cache today. Log slightly damp so replaced with new logbook. Last finder was mama hoof on the 1st of May. Then checked twignz's photo and oh dear I wonder who that container belonged to. It certainly isn't mine and there is no way it could be hidden within a 50m radius of GZ.
I worked this puzzle out a little while back, as it's a good way to spend long dark winter evenings. I've never been to Carnac, but I might have to try to check it out next time I'm in Europe.
The solved co-ords put me some distance off the pathway, and so a certain amount of light bush-bashing was required to reach GZ. But once there the cache was located quite quickly which was a great feeling. That feeling was then somewhat dented with the realisation that the cache container itself is in a pretty sorry state. The handle broke off as I lifted the container off the ground, having rusted away to virtually nothing. Then on opening the cache I found the contents to be swimming in rusty water. Basically the contents are mush, so I took a photo (attached) in lieu of signing the log.
I still enjoyed the puzzle, so thanks for placing this cache.

Interesting puzzle, the X coordinate gave me trouble and led me to the kennels/quarry, had another attempt today and found the cache OK
Thanks Little Blue Hen for the cache. This is our find number 814 and we found it at 2:14 PM on 2 April 2018.
Finally after about a year on my desk I’ve solved this cache close to my home! Quick grab at GZ on a partly cloudy Easter Monday.

Must have made an error somewhere as my solution pointed me 25 metres into an out of bounds area. Back to the drawing board. However it appeared that I was probably in the right vicinity as the Carnac reference made some sense. If I was indeed looking at the right features they might be removed soon owing to significant changes at the location.
I solved this a while back, unsure of why I hadn't done so earlier - it was quite straightforward in the end, and I put it on my solved pile for a later retrieval.
Called by on my way up north and headed for the obvious location and after a quick search, found the cache. Signed and replaced. TFTC

In Paraparaumu for a tenpin bowling tournament, now time to find some solved puzzles. Thanks Little Blue Hen for this puzzles cache.
Had trouble getting the cache out must have been the rain lol - Great puzzle cache
Solved this a couple of weeks back and was driving home from a pleasant evening of caching at Whareroa Farm so took a short detour off the highway to grab this one. It was getting quite dark so no probs with muggles! TFTC
Was daunted by this one originally (not so used to puzzles then). One co-ord I wasnt sure was right so Google maps came to my assistance for trying out possible places. Easy find after that on a visit up to kapiti. TFTC
Did today with The Wandering Dragons and Astro Hunter. Thanks!

Cache # 3,053 - After solving the puzzle before and ending up at the kennels I gave it two more goes. Same result each time. Sat with another cacher and got another possibility, although the logic didn't fully work for me. Location did not look promising either, but thought we would give it a go today while in the area (with a couple of other caches ready to go if needed). Cache was instantly found at this location, much to my surprise. Nice to have this one done and off the list. Did with Astro Hunter and Violet Butterfly. TFTC!

[green] On my way to Palmerston North for Christmas, and caching along the way. An awesome day to be out and about. Except for the traffic. It seems that everyone is on the road. Getting back onto the road, especially if crossing lanes, can involve a ten minute wait!
I was surprised to find this on my GPS. I had forgotten it was there. So I stopped by. Man, this place has changed since I was last here for an ice cream! Drove up for an ice cream after grabbing the cache and found another surprise - Kapiti have moved out! Everything changes.

Had help from Flowerydaze after coordinates also led me to the kennels. Nice camo - won't be spotted from a distance! TFTC.
Thought the coordinates I got were only semi-promising, and a trip there today saw me staring through a fence at some private land. Will have to re-do the puzzle and try again.
A bit of a raid on the Coast today.
Happy to be solving another puzzler. Even more puzzled by the lack of logged visits.
The sneaky hide was apparent, extraction manageable, and muggles out of sight over the brow of the hill.
All in order, log signed; safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

It was interesting to read about the stones. My co-ordinates had me in the kennels but a hint from another cacher and a bit of reworking had cache in hand. Tftc.
Well, a quick find after getting one or 2 answers from Google Earth. Log is now officially YUCK, stinky and slimy. Really good to read about the stones though. Thanks for the puzzle and find
Well, work has finished for the year, and it is time for the annual road trip to Auckland. Today was from Paraparaumu to Hamilton.
Thanks for the hide.

We too ended up on the front lawn of the kennels which from Google Maps looks like a nice little walkway to a small lake. However once there we decided "this cant be right" so with a little bit of number juggling we came up with a far more likely location. Right on the money for a quick park and grab. SLTFTC
After a puzzling trip to Kapiti Kennels front yard, we knew something was off. Which brought us to today, with another plan in mind which, thankfully, rewarded us with a nice cache in hand. TFTC
Cache #1000 !!! Out and about for a day of caching today with tmann421 and hoping to clock up my 1000 cache which I achieved today. Cache located quickly once at GZ. TFTC
Interesting look around some neolithic sites. Had some touble with one of the questions which I still done get, but with a guess I stopped ending up in Kapiti Kennels front yard! TFTP (worth a FAV)
We are finally working our way through the local puzzle caches and we liked this one.

Solved this puzzle a while ago and was able to finally sign the log book today on our way home from Wellington - thanks for the puzzle and the cache
A nice cache that we had no idea was here. Our counting for T was out due to overgrown foliage but was easy to guess the number. Found with KateNZ
A nice wee cache. Think some rocks have been overgrown so we did a manual adjustment to our coordinates. TFTC
A cheeky little pickup with -tink- and PaisynsMummy before it got too dark. TFTC
solved the puzzle a couple of days ago and called into the final on my way back from dropping off grandaughters. it was exactly where I thought it would be. Nearly broke a nail removing it! Have wedged it back where it was. TFTC enjoyed this one!
Had worked out the numbers spme time ago and today had the opportunity to track down the cache. All good. TFTC
A lovely sunny day to be out and about in Kapiti today. Decided to make a major dent in the number of unsolved puzzles in the area that have been bugging me for so long. A sneaky little hide here, it needed a second look.

An enjoyable puzzle relating to a subject I knew nothing about previously. TFTC.
Great little geography lesson, thank you. Solved easily and checked coords against Google Earth so knew exactly where I was going to. TFTC.
Interesting puzzle subject. Solved this nearly 12 months ago, so about time we went looking for it.
Quick find for StreetWalker, though took him a few minutes to retrieve as it was very firmly wedged in.

Solved the puzzle a couple of weeks back so took the oportunity today to complete the paperwork. A fun and interesting puzzle and an easy find by Master Miseter, the 7th of 10 found while out for an afternoon of caching with him.

Solved this one ages ago incorrectly and tried finding it a few months ago without success.. After finding the error of our ways this time it was an east find on our way back from the Medieval Faire in Levin.. Thanks for the puzzle and cache..
Solved the puzzle back home in Auckland. Enjoyed doing the research on the Carnac stones. These sites are always fascinating. Stopped by today on our way south, and made a quick find. Thanks for an interesting puzzle cache.

Loved Carnac when we were there several years ago. Bought the CD which I must dig out and play again. TFTCSL Cache container really jammed in but have left it more accessible.
A nice little puzzle to solve. We visited quite a few similar stone circles when living in Wiltshire, so interesting to see the notes about a few more. A nice easy find at the final.

Interesting to read about the Carnac stones.
I tried to find the cache on Saturday, but got caught out by the slight issue with Q (now fixed) and ended up in the wrong spot. My kids were quite pleased though because there was a playground at my calculated coordinates.
Stopped off in the correct spot on the way home today for a quick find. No playground this time, so the kids stayed in the car. But they did get out when we stopped off at the nearby ice cream shop.
Thanks.

Like some others I had absolutely no idea as to the answer for Q using the required photo. Triple checked I had all the rest correct then plotted a range of options on to Google Earth. Two sets of co-ords looked likely, but one more so than the other. Checked it out today and bingo cache time. SL TFTC
Great puzzle. GPS not needed for this one, Solved with the help of a PC.

Solved the puzzle very shortly after the cache was published - was a bit confused by the question for Q as it didn't seem to match with the photo but a bit of deduction and logic indicated that the closest likely answer had to be the correct one. Didn't really need the GPSr for this one, Google Earth got me close enough. A quick find - signed log, TFTC.
Great to see that the blue hen is hatching some new little eggs in the community. A very well constructed puzzle apart from me being dyslectic so I really cant add. Was a bit surprised that there was an additional letter and totally confused me. But after contacting the owner the error was soon fixed, a very well done puzzle that had me puzzling a bit. Thanks for bringing me to this lovely spot and the great puzzle that made me think again. TFTC TNLNSL (2250). Looking forward to where the blue hen is going to lay her next egg and finding it.
*FTF* Pleased as it took me a while to solve one of the questions. Found very quickly. SL TFTC
