An easy find here today, this is such an amazing walk though I though I got lost in the way here! Signed at 10:35, Monday 8th January. Find number 286, TFTC!!
I came back today seeing that the cache had been replaced a while ago. It still took me a few minutes to locate and sign.Cheers for the cache, Moneydork.
This afternoon, we decided to come and explore the tunnels. After parking the car, we walked to this first impressive feature. As I signed the logbook, which was all dry in a good safe container, Dad heard some noise. Probably the van that was parked besides us. I remembered the goal of our trip needed a new logbook and I hadn't taken one. He said it sounds like they can't go up the hill. SO we went back to the carpark. They had just left, but we got a nice logsheet in a zipbag for our next adventure.
I am always amazed at locations like this how they were dug out by hand. Worthy place for a cache. Thanks for bringing me here Moneydork

A previous walk here was during this caches "missing" period so it's good to see it has been replaced.
Today we had no problem finding this and soon had it signed then continued our walk.
Thank you Moneydork.

Caches are getting a bit thin on the ground to qualify for the latest souvenir. After some checking Wood's Creek came up and it was decided to be time to revisit. It was good to see that the cache had been replaced and our confidence of making a find was not misplaced. Holymu has the right attributes for this kind of hide and made a quick find. Thank you Trigger-Fish
We had half a day to fit in what we could and we decided on Pancake Rocks and to check out the "old mines that kids could walk through" that we found on a brochure. Wow, we are so pleased we went out there That was just incredible, walking underground in old mining tunnels. A real mix of tunnels leading here and there. Long tunnels at that! First up we did the circuit walk and exploration but we were unable to any caches as we didn't have reception and we hadn't thought to save them offline. We head off up over the hills towards Hanmer Springs where we had to be that night. About 45 mins into the journey Mr EMC realises that his glasses are missing (is currently wearing his prescription sunnies and needs to change back to normal glasses). We stop the car and pull it apart and can't find the glasses. He decides he has to head back to the tunnels assuming he had left them there. Whilst travelling back I got reception and noted where the caches were. We didn't have time to do the multi, but I insisted time be taken to grab the traditional. Thankfully it was a quick find and we were able to head off a couple of hours behind schedule but with glasses (found in the first place he looked) and with one smiley. TFTC. The chikins from Brisbane.
Spending the winter woofing, tramping and exploring the west coast caching along the way ..of course..
Back in greymouth for a while working at the Noah's ark backpackers...so a good base to tick off a few more..
Set myself a mission to hit 8000 finds by the end of the year...that's an average of 6 a day ..
Hasn't been found for over 4 years and a few dnfs since I gave it a good luck before putting down a replacement with it being a low d/t cache..hope this is ok would be a shame to have this archived..great wee walk...cache is now a pill bottle same hint applies..

This is a long way to drive, but worth it for the interesting interpretive walk.
Road here has a sign saying it isn't maintained by the council- this section is okay though slow and bumpy. Realised it's a road section that is a detour from the public road alignment - don't know how that happened!
Searched gaps high and low all along the wall and glanced at possible places nearby, but no luck. An impressive tail race - glad it's fenced off!

The road to the car park is fairly dodgy. Probably needs a 4WD, fortunately I had a go-everywhere rental car. DOC info says not to go beyond car park but might be better to stop before that if you are in a small car. Anyway, needed a walk to calm the nerves after the rocky drive. Hahaha. Alas no find here for me today. Spent some time looking but Just not to be.
A DNF for me here. A lot of holes left by other people so maybe has been found by a muggle.
Stoked to find this one today! Love the authentic container, though was a bit water logged. Unfortunately no pen or pencil left in cache and we forgot to bring one with us on the walk so couldn't sign log book. Currently contains a keyring which looks like it been there a good while! Great spot to visit and lovely day for it today. Thanks for placing the cache!
A few too many spots to look on the rain. One obvious spot looked as if it had been plundered
Ninalila and I spent a few days on the West Coast and visited some nice places.
We discovered some really nice landscapes, saw lots of different kinds of animals...
Some boxes where easy to find, the multicaches were really interesting and we learned a lot
Geocaching is a really nice way to visit places where you would usually not go.
We logged with our team name : Lekiprokos
Thank you to the owners for their caches

We're visiting from Florida, USA. That was great fun. Thanks for placing the cache.
West coast trip, day 6.
Wahoo! How wonderful it is to finally bring the family here - Mum has been longing to do so for years. It's been half her lifetime since she was here with her history class.
Not only was there great history - the the birds! What a variety of sounds! And we spotted little blue mushrooms (a sign soon after educated us that it actually was a 'sky-blue toadstool').
Great hide - but wet through, log book and all I'm sorry to say.
Dad for the find.
TFTC Moneydork! !!!

At least we found one container on this walk - but now we have a good excuse (well if you need one) to come back. A great experience, TFTC
In Greymouth for a wee easter family holiday. Spent the morning at Shantytown and now off to find a cool walk at Woods Creek - tunnels and tailings and all cool history. We chose this walk due to it's shortish length & the history. Wee dudes (6 & loved it. Fantastic fun. Quite a busy spot today with 6 other carloads of people. Able to make the find and sign easily enough though. Cheers.
Gets a FP coz this place is awesome and people should be encouraged to venture forth!

Its Easter & have teamed up with The Seagnoid & Zara, for a magical mystery tour. Bug out Thursday lunchtime picking up the Seagnoid on the way to exploring the amazing West Coast.
Loved this place and the walk. Its amazing how deep the sluice is, This is my kind of caching. Thanks so much for bringing us here. The Seagnoids find. Cheers

On a big Easter caching mission with ZaraBus and TaybeeDragon. Lots of crawling through mines, climbing hills, walking through bush. And yet we only covered a tiny bit of the West Coast, between Greymouth and Hokitika.
THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!!!! This is EXACTLY why I go geocaching! Loved the little loop walk, loved the notice boards, loved the weather (sunny), loved the history, and loved the structures here. This race is a huge fit of engineering given that it was all done with pickaxes! We were not even going to come here, it was a comment on the Welcome to Greymouth information board that suggested this was an amazing walk and would be worth the visit.
The cache is rusty as all hell, which is fitting, but might have to be replaced soon. Added a pathtag, an emerald and a favourite. I hope someone picks up the pathtag before it to gets rusty!

Found this one easier than I feared.. I had just taken off my sunglasses here for a better view and as soon as I had them put down, there was something that caught my eye.. even though the container is rusted, it kinda fits with the theme
Thanks for brining me all the way out here

Quick find - for a second I thought I found a little piece of history instead of the gz but no, it was just a well disguised container. Log book very damp and fragile, able to sign it though.
lucky to find quickly...liked the touch. Enjoyed the location and walk thanks.....oh, log was damp yes, OK to sign.
Great hide and loved the walkway, just managed to make a mark in log (pink). Note for next cachers, take a pen/pencil. TFTC.
Great hide!!! This area was our highlight on our family holiday. Thanks for bringing us here.

One of the easiest finds of the day, spotted the hide straight away, top little spot for a cache, quiet a drop in behind GZ!! TFTC, will return to explore the area more one fine day!!
Spent way longer than my regulation 10 minutes trying to find this baby. Just had to give up in the end.
Didn't find it last year and nearly didn't find it again but perserverence paid off.
Visiting the parents who own West Highland Motels, (go for a cuppa and a chat) couldnt find on first walk round but wasnt gunna leave without getting it so off we went and yup easy find when looking in correct location Love the container
Yay. Another 2010 DNF expunged from the record. But I had to get my 7 years old to rescue me!
Decided to walk past this one on the way out and gave it 10 minutes. What the....? Back to Nelson with my tailings between my legs I suspect
The shame with this one is the area already seems to be suffering from where it looks like people have removed rocks while searching - the same area my gps took me to, but not where the cache was found. The rocks look rather out of place in an otherwise mossy wall. Basically if you think you need to disturb rocks that look like they have been untouched for 100+ years, thats probably because they have been, think it through.
#1581 (8/15 on a second day on the Coast). Amazing how much work went into this area. TFTC.
Tricky Hide took a wee while to hunt down, should keep the locals busy.
