On a three week road trip north, through the Pilbra, Karijini then over to Exmouth. Caching along the way to help see some sights and have some breaks. Had great weather all trip apart from the last week once we hit the coast. Never the less, had a great trip.

A quick find in the near dark. Log book has fallen apart so wrote on one of the loose pages. TFTC
Always sad to see lonely headstones or roadside memorials like these.
Sadder to se it was a fellow motorcyclist.
Certainly promotes the uncertainty of our time on earth and the unpredictability of our health and well being.
RIP Mr Brancovic
This logbook is in disarray and probably requires restapling.

A nice, easy find on our tour of Newman today . I have to admit that given the cache name, we expected to find a few more residents, however .. it was not to be . This poor chap obviosly came to an untimely end here, and it is a touching tribute to the poor lad
Janine tracked down this treasure with no problems, and although the log was falling apart, it was dry

Probably the only reason to walk down this road and also pay respect to a fellow biker
My gps playing up a bit at this cache. But finally got onto the location. Good hide.
20 May 2013, Week 4 – Day 23 of our Trip Around Australia (http://mrlocks.tumblr.com)
“1CADFAY”, (1 cache a day for a year).
Today was a mission finish last nights blog, lol. I just couldn’t get my head together last night to finish it, also to get the kids to do a bit of catching up with school work. While I sat outside working on the computer Jacki had the kids inside the van working away. Charlie was being difficult and would not settle down to do his work so I took Chloe off to Woolworths and did some shopping giving Jacki time to focus on getting Charlie to do his schoolwork.
When we returned we had our lunch and then went off to find a few caches. Our first stop was Opthalmia Dam which is the towns water supply. We drove out to the dam to the picnic area at the edge of the water only to find the bins full and overflowing with the litter piled high around them and being blown around by the wind. The views over the dam were pleasant, it was just a shame it was such a god-awful mess. We left to find the cache, “Opthalmia View, GCNTHK”, we hadn’t read the description before searching for the cache so we were looking for the access road just by guessing which one to take and ended up the wrong track which just took us to a dead end. We decided to park at the bottom of the hill and walked up the rocky spinifex covered side of the hill until we reached the summit. Jacki and the kids scouted around for the cache while I admired the awesome view, taking photos. Great cache placement, it was quite overcast so the usual colours of the landscape was a bit subdued but it was still spectacular. The others were having trouble finding the cache so I had a bit of a look around at a likely spot and soon had the cache in hand. We signed our finds and headed back to the car to look for our next cache, “FEAST ON THE RIDGE, GC3AFYY”.
We headed back towards town and again after reading the description realized we had to find another track off the main road which was a certain distance from the junction, but we were travelling in the wrong direction. A bit of guess work and the trusty iPhone app lead us in the right direction. We parked at the bottom of the hill as Jacki didn’t want me to tackle the near vertical, heavily rutted, loose and slippery track up the hill, oh well we would just have to walk it, lol. At the top of the hill we were once again greeted with awesome views, hidden from view by this hill was a large open cut mine with big trucks zooming all over and long trains taking away the ore. Once again I enjoyed the view and took photos while the others searched around for the cache, I was standing at a high point near a trig point I had found and after a while I called out to Chloe to go to a certain spot about 15 meters from where I was standing and have a look, sure enough the cache was there. We signed the log and headed back to the car.
It was getting late but there was time for one more cache before we called it a day, we went off to find “LKA – Newman…well kind of…GC2H3EQ”. This was a nice simple, quick find at a roadside memorial. I quickly jumped out of the car and grabbed the cache, took it back to the car for Jacki to sign and dropped it back. The sun was now setting and we enjoyed a colourful sunset as we headed back to the caravan for dinner.

Quick easy grab, last cache in Newman. Might have to make an addition as I have been exploring for iron ore for three years now! Give me something to upkeep while waiting for flights! TFTC zodiac horizon. You get around a bit!
Our favourite cache yet!
Took a little bit of digging about through the long grass...watch out for those snakes!
We did find it and the little cache is safe under several rocks, sheltered by a big rock!

I'm not quite sure what the LKA stands for; perhaps Little Known Area, but I suppose it was another cache. A bit tricky for a while with the GPS jumping all over the place, and of course the obvious distractions, but it had to be there, and it was right where the co-ords said it would be. TFTC
Yeah, GPS was all over the place at first, but we found this cache in its hiding place. Not too well disguised and a little visible, but not so to the non cacher. TFTC.
Found on a Central Australia Trip had car troubles and spent a few days in Newman. Good opportunity to grab a few caches. Easy find
Will be archiving the whole of the north west series after seemingly repeatious negative feedback. Very disappointing. Will leave active until there are a number of DNF's in a row or until I can collect later this year.

Found this one as night was falling. Have been down this road a few times on a loop of town to keep the herat rate up. Good to be able to grab a cache on the way past. Thanks for the opportunity. TNLN SL Will keep an eye on the cache when things get a bit wet.

Visiting family in the town I grew up I was pleased to have a FTF in my home town.
Johnny Banovic, while I didn't know him well, he was my tee-ball coach the year before he was tragically killed. I was only seven when he died so my recollection could be wrong but I believe he and his motorbike collided with a parked car while partying with friends on the gun club road. Unfortunately his memorial is one of many in town as a result of 'teenagers being teenagers'. In a town like Newman boredom can get the better of you.
The cache is in an area prone to flooding and so there is a possibility it could get washed away. TFTH TNLNSL.

Thanks for the heads up about the flooding.... If any cachers find the cache could you please find a very very large rock to slide him under until I get back up that way.
Placed cache with ZH, logging to remove from maps.
