A plan was hatched quite a while ago when the Dunedin Mega was announced to come over to the South Island again.I have only been to New Zealand twice before and I loved the South Island. So a chance to come back for a Mega was a no brainer for me.Everything was booked and I flew in the Saturday before after a bit of a delay.Hopefully the weather improves as Im missing the sunshine that I had earlier on on this trip.So Day 14 of my Mega NZ starts and Im heading off to Timaru to check out that town and Im slowly heading North again.Heading up and over the Lindis Pass and I came across this entrance to the Melina Ridge Track.Good on to who ever does this sort of thing.Cache was soon located and signedThanks drawp TFTC.

Day 9: Across the Lindis PassThe route for today brought us back to close the big loop of our Southern journey by passing through Omarama and the Lindis Pass and back into Cromwell where we stayed the night. This would be my first trip across the Pass and we found many caches along the way, including the highlight of the day at the Bendigo Historic Reserve. Thanks for all of the caches along the route!(End of the cut and paste bit)Heres the specific log for the cache:Another one that took just a wee bit longer than Id thought simply because sometimes the obvious eludes me. Yes, this was obvious indeed, but I had to check all the other obvious spots that I fancied. Again, glad this one is done, and in another very scenic part of the pass. TFTC!

We found this cache at 1043am after a short search Big Grin - and the container and log were both in good condition unless noted in the Fieldnotes below. TN, LN, SL. Thanks to drawp for this cache - the 3rd of 7 finds for the day.

FieldNotes: Log was wet – the cache likely needs maintenance. Log was replaced.l

One of 14 caches located today whilst travelling from Lake Ruataniwha (near Twizel) to Cromwell. This was the only cache I stopped to pick up in the Lindis Pass region besides one at the start. It was a quick find. #4825. TFTC.

We weren't sure of the parking at gz but there was a good pullover 100m before so that's where we stopped. As it turns out we probably could have sort of pulled in at gz, especially as cache was found quickly. All these tracks lead to? Thanks for the cache drawp

Thankfully the rain had stopped. Last time I got out the camper van I got drenched. There was great parking on the opposite side of the cache. This was essential as there was a lot of traffic on the road today.
This cache was found on our second summer campervan trip. JDScout and I plan to do three this summer. This trip is from Christchurch to Bannockburn to the Catlins and back.

Thanks for hiding this cache drawp I appreciate it. It has helped add an extra layer of fun in our holiday.

On a 3 week South Island road trip from Nelson, picking up a few caches on the way.

I got the 2 on top of the pass last time I was down here, today it was this one's turn.

My kind of find, I could identify the hide from across the road!

08-Oct-21
Nice and quick thanks for the hide

28-Sep-21
I pulled over to "check the equipment" on the way back to Christchurch from Roxburgh (aka sign the log here Wink ) No dramas with the find in between the few cars that were on the road. What a stunning view. I've been here once before (about 2 weeks before lockdown) and the area was white! Thanks for the placement Smile

TFTC drawp, the cache was found in good order Very Happy Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 3 find(s) of 3 today, making this find #2869

Found with StreetWalkerNZ on day 2 of our geocaching trip down south. Today we are travelling from Twizel to Te Anau, the day started with clear blue skies (but rather chilly) and ended in rain as we neared our destination.
We were keen to find this cache as it is a missing latitude minute for 44 degrees south. And a nice easy find too, thanks.

#18798. We didn't have time for many walks today, so we were pleased to find this cache was a drive-by at the start of the track, and not some distance down it. Interesting maps to peruse here. TFTC.

Another quick grab, we saw some crazy overtaking manoeuvres on this side of the hill. Cache all good, was slightly exposed so hid better. TFTC drawp.
Second full day of a 10 day road trip for RG1972 and I to get to Te Anau, attempt a half marathon, and get safely back to Nelson/Marlborough. Today was Chch to Wanaka, so we hand picked a few park and grabs in between food and shopping stops. 20 plus for the day and all in good shape. Thanks all COs and sorry for the cut and paste bit.

I'm catching up on my logging which seemed to have stalled even though we have been in lockdown, my excuse is that I have been working throughout.
Found on our southward leg - day 2. Very obvious hide - if you know what to look for.
This started out as a Geocaching road trip to Invercargill to drop off some stuff for the niece and collect some other stuff for Mrs banian. It turned into a bit of a race back to Wellington to beat the Covid-19 lockdown.
We were able to rebook our Ashburton accommodation and ferry ticket to earlier in the week. When we arrived in Picton the vehicle queue was almost a kilometre long, and got longer behind us. Fortunately, as we had tickets we were still able to get on our sailing.

TFTC drawp.

For my personal challenge of working towards getting my calendar on GC.COM to be at least the same shade of green or darker I need to sign off at least 12 caches today. I won't grumble if I find one or two moreWinkRazz. Today I decided to go for a drive through the Lindis Pass to locate and sign off the required caches.

In TB.

Cheers for the cache.

Day 3 of a 4 day road trip. My mission on this trip was to travel South and West and then East and North. This road trip was all about the numbers but not quite in the usual way. In fact it was hours and hours spent on the road in search of minutes (and caches). I'm filling in gaps in my 'minutes' found across New Zealand in order to complete the 400 minutes challenge for the cache GC7YQZ8 - at the start of this trip I had a 52 minute gap to fill. All good here. TFTC, Biggles.

We are on our summer holiday driving around the South Island with no real idea of where we will end up each day. We are often drawn to an area that has the potential to give us a few geocaching smilies and somewhere we have not spent time exploring before. In some cases we are revisiting placed that we have been before but liked so much we are going there again.
We decided we would head to Cromwell to see an old friend, so here we are stopping along the way. The rain was ensuring we did not make too many stops.
The cache was a quick find, signed the log and returned it as we found it.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

On our 7th day in New Zealand we continued from Wanaka to Twizel. We took the road over Lindis Pass and were looking for some caches along the route. We found some but not all of them. The weather was rain in the morning and clearing up around noon. This was a short stop. Looking around and then we had an idea and it was the right one. TFTC and greetings from Switzerland

Long trip today - transfer from Te Anau back north east. So the caches are a very good way to stop here and there and take some time to admire the landscape. Fortunately the weather is stable. Sometimes mmmmike and me even found special places because of the caches or we get the context to what we see.
And very nice - a quite old cache again on our way. Some of them sit already pretty long around here in between the rocks.
Thanks to the owners! This one was good to find with the hint.
