Decided to close down this one. It has disappeared a couple of times now. Seems perhaps to have attracted more muggle interest than cache interest.

Oh, dear, a string of DNFs..... somewhat disheartening.
I have come up from Christchurch for Easter, specifically to find the traditional cache at Cape Reinga (for the Four Corners Challenge GC4AT3X)- but also to explore some new ground.

3.30pm. Visited today. The cache appears to have gone. probably blown away in one of the winter gales. Replaced in same position but slightly smaller container. Log sheet but BYOP. All good so give it a go.

Came up here a couple of days ago to find a logging gang dropping all the trees on the other side of the road and decided it wasn't safe to attempt the cache. Returned today to find GZ all clear, but the road was a mess. All the rain had washed the gravel off large sections and it had turned in to wet soggy red clay. Had to engage 4wd to even attempt the last climb to the cache.

Thanks for the cache. This was our first time but felt good to find it.the pencil was broken but didn't have any thing to sharpen it with.cheers
Too windy for the beach today; caching instead: kids almost blown away here tho'!! Tftc
Too rough for fishing today so taking a drive through the countryside.Nice view and learning a lot about the area.Cache safe and sound.TFTC.
Nice quick find. Thanks for giving us an excuse to visit a local area we had not been to before. Mr Nalawod had been in the big red truck a couple of times to scrub fires, but no opportunity to enjoy the different view of Mangonui.
Found this, while staying at this lovely lodge. It was so windy though, it was really exiting. This was a really nice cash!

4.41pm. Thought we would go for a drive to pick up this cache. The owner had been encouraging (nagging) us to find it for at least the last three days.
Great view from up here, have never seen Mangonui for this angle before.
Thanks for bringing us here.

A quick easy find at what we're sure would be a nice location on a fine day. TFTC
Thanks for sharing this lovely site. Great views again with lots of time to enjoy as the case was an easy find. We left a shooting star from our rocket

Dropped by on my travels today. Gotta be quick to get a FTF at the moment. Missed out this time. Kiwicouple are on a roll this weekend!! T4TC
Spent a good part of yesterday afternoon caching in Mangonui. Had almost returned to Paihia when we thought to check the phone. Couldn't believe it when we saw the text alert for this new cache had come in an hour earlier! Too tired to retrace our steps, we resolved to get an early start today. Set off in thick fog and reached GZ just after 8am. Nice and sunny at GZ and great views from up here - but we couldn't see Mangonui or the harbour, as they were still shrouded in fog. Quickly spied the hide and a nice empty logbook - our 4th FTF in 4 days - one for every day of our holiday so far!
FTF # 299 Thanks!

Early start from Mahinepua but missed out on a FTF by about half an hour. At least the fog had lifted so there were clear views across the harbour. TFTC
