Today we headed out to find some solved puzzles. Most of the puzzles I was able to solve myself. A couple I had to seek some assistance from the kindly CO.I stupidly left camp just wearing sandals which was foolish given snakes are about. Luckily no today just lots and lots of tiny lizards . They scared the bejesus out of me but they wont kill me.We had a lovely drive, gosh Tasmanians are lucky to have this lovely green island to call home. We did however have constant reminders that the recycle scheme cant come quickly enough here, so many cans and bottles on the sides of the road. Thanks for all these puzzles , trying to qualify for e.gregory1 challenge caches and this slew of puzzles helps enormously.Solved this one earlier in the week another I found a printed version of the code helped with. We spent a very long time seeking this cache. We even went back to the car but I decided just one last look was in order, of course the cache was where we had been looking all along . Im glad we didnt give up!! TFTC 2ystassies

A 'Thelma & Louise' style weekend away with Geoturtle37, to celebrate her recent milestone birthday. We are flying in to Launceston on Friday afternoon, returning to Melbourne on Sunday evening. Our carefully planned itinerary includes selected LGAs, placement dates, DTs and high faves. If we manage to find them all, we can expect 186 smilies in total.A solved puzzle on our way up to Penguin for our event and a cito. Without giving too much away, I became a contortionist to reach this cache, before realising there was a much easier way, hahaha. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, 2y'stassies ~~

02-Mar-23
Today we are moving our base from Devonport to Penguin, with a rather large detour along the way.
We had solved this puzzle back in 2021 when we started preparing for a trip to Tasmania. Arrived at GZ today and applied the hint, first with a walking pole and then a gloved hand. Despite blindly searching for the container Cache Blindness was found, so no cache blindness detected today. Thanks.

Tftc. Will come back to find!

21-Nov-22
Solved a lot of the nearby puzzles in this area recently so today we set off to find them all.
We've enjoyed the challenge of all the puzzles.
Found the cache easily and soon had our names in the log.

Cache blindness indeed!
I stayed in Launceston last night with my sister-in-law who knows a little of this code, and so we solved it over breakfast and I'd intended to search for the cache en route to collect KingSmev from "RoVenture" before returning to Hobart.
I arrived at GZ and commenced a nervous search, and then realised I was at the listed coordinates, as I'd failed to load my solved ones!
By this time I thought I'd be late to Fulton Park so rather than proceed to the proper GZ, I donned my responsible parent hat and went to the campsite instead.
Okay, now we're on our way back to Hobart, so stop at the right spot 1 hour later, the cache was spotted easily, signed, replaced, all while the L plates went up, and we swapped seats.
With my bung knee, I just grabbed a couple of drive-by/park-and-grabs along the way today.
Thanks 2y'stassies for the adventure.
Cheers, EPs.

Routine check as we passed by. All is OK.

26-Feb-22
Well this was a quick find this time around no idea how I had missed it last time I’d like to claim cache blindness. Thanks for the find Sue and Phil and a little help

23-Feb-22
Was in forth caching for 2’s day and noticed this puzzle out here, after a quick solve made my way out unfortunately no luck on this one

08-Apr-21
Not being able to solve the puzzle is not a reason to say that the cache needs maintenance.

08-Nov-20
After a morning of house work, I decided i would go for a drive to get my L plate hours up. Managed to convince dad and we were off, with a de-tour to Bunnings of course. Overall I hid a multi and found 6 caches.

I have had this cache solved for over a year and finally found it on the way home. At first i thought my arm wasn't going to be long enough, but I found something that helped. The cache was in good condition. But it didn't smell nice as there was a dead wallaby 5m from GZ. TFTC

05-Sep-20
Out and about on a beautiful spring day for Tassie. We needed a find today to fill a gap on our caching calendar so thought we'd target a few in this area a quick find when we reached GZ. Have had the puzzle worked out for a while, just needed the opportunity. TFTC and the puzzle

30-Aug-20
Thanks for the puzzle cache 2y'stassies. RLD4963 and I were returning home from an overnight stay in Burnie where we had attended a friend's play (we were all appropriately social distanced Smile ). We didn't have a lot of time up our sleeves, but had decided we would detour via Sheffield and as we were driving right past this one we decided to stop and have a look. RLD4963 found the spot whilst some cows watched closely....Thanks, have had this one solved for a long time, but we just never get up to this area.....glad to turn this one into a smiley.

30-Aug-20
out and about with Lil Rafa and son in the North West for a play, a good drive by with an audience check out the herd over the other side of the road, I'm sure the farmer put this cache here to exercise his girls. TFTC TNLN log dry.

26-Aug-20
I had this puzzle solved about two weeks ago but today was the first opportunity for me to make the search. A quick find. The log was slightly damp.

19-Jun-20
Solved the puzzle correctly, TFTC

Maintenance check today. Replaced the plastic bag. Everything else OK.

T-Tech and I are down from Brisbane for a meandering holiday around Tasmania. We flew to Melbourne where we picked up the campervan and spent a day caching there, then took Spirit of Tasmania I to Devonport. Tick that one off the bucket list!

Today we are travelling from Devonport to Ulverstone and Penguin. This cache was one we had solved in readiness, so we took the drive south to make it a smilie. A quick find, and I was glad of the retrieval system. TFTC, 2y'stassies.

Down from Brisbane on hols with IolantheK.
We solved this one whilst still in Brisbane[^]
This morning we stopped by the final to collect the prize [^]
Nice easy find for IolantheK [^]
Cache is dry and in good condition [^]

Found it on a day out caching. Found the location easily but retrieving was a little harder. Log book is getting a little damp. Signed it ok but may need another plastic bag.

I really enjoyed this one - for many reasons.

For Christmas I got Cully Long’s Puzzle Caching bible, and I’d brought it on holiday with me to Tassie. I’d been reading it whilst down in Ross, and continued up in Forth. I’d been finding some trads and a multi along the way and then noticed there was a nearby puzzle.

On first read I made nothing of the code so continued with some local trads. Then I thought I should bite the bullet and commit to at least giving it some serious attention. When I zoomed in on the code I suddenly recognised it from my reading - woohoo!

Initially, I couldn’t quite get started and wondered whether I was lacking something. But I persevered and things started to make sense. Once I figured out the numbers I had some coordinates, albeit unusual looking ones.

Try as I might, I couldn’t shoehorn my coordinates into a set approved by the checker (although in doing so it gave me some ideas for using less obvious coordinate formats!)

Reaching out to the COs, they were quick to get back to me, and really helpful in correcting my mistake. I’ll add that to my repertoire, thanks!

After a beautiful day at Dove Lake, I set out for GZ. The coordinates were spot on and I quickly overcame any cache blindness to grab the cache. I like to walk away from GZ when I sign logs to keep the locations secret, but a novel retrieval/anti-cache creep system had me first exclaiming “What the?!” followed by “Nice one!”

I really appreciated the next level hide after the extra puzzle effort needed.

A great cache and an FP from me.

With a bit of time off and a chance to get away from Sydney was what I needed TeamMerlin was also free at the time. So Tasmania seemed to be a good place to spend about a week. It has been a while since I last went when I was there for photography and before I knew about Geocaching. We found a lot of nice caches including one of the oldest caches which was a Hide month I was missing. A lot of puzzles had been solved either before we went down or the night before between us. While here we also visited a lot of EarthCache and learnt a lot more about what makes up Tasmania. Another quite quick solve before we left for the trip. Took us a little bit longer than I was hoping

With cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for bringing me to the area and thanks for placing the cache 2y'stassies

The following TBs visited for the distance - phlphotos 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, phlphotos Mary Hyde's compass (to help us find where we were going) , phlphotos Spindoc Bob Memorial Geocoin, phlphotos Cache In Trash Out Geocoin, phlphotos Cache In Trash Out Tag, phlphotos CITO Micro Geocoin, phlphotos Four Elements Geocoin, phlphotos Optical Illusion Geocoin

In Tasmania for a short caching trip with phlpohotos collecting some Old School caches as well as picking up some caches in previously unfound Tasmanian LGAs. Had this mystery on our solved list so stopped by in order to make the find. With the cache in hand we signed the log before replacing as found. Both the cache container and log are in good condition, after signing we replaced as found. Thanks for the cache 2y'stassies.

The following TBs came through for the mileage : Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust), Vanlith The Youngling, Hidden Creatures Geocoin TB, teamMerlin's Football

03-Nov-19
Took the opportunity to grab this cache on the way back from the octagon series. Following a nice drive to GZ, the cache was quickly located, thanks to overcoming the phobia of spiders.

The well-stocked cache was a great reward for the puzzle required to find the cache. As I have solved all three cache's puzzles, all I need to do now is to find Cache Blindness #3, and then I'm done and dusted.

Thank you for your placements, 2y'stassies

Great our enjoyed journey along around the Tasmania and today it’s my last day in Devonport. Tomorrow morning we will go home in Melbourne. Sad to leave a beautiful country in Tasmania .Found your cache today. 2y'stassies, thank you so much for placing it.

02-Oct-19
I solved this puzzle quite a long time ago I had just never got around to coming up here to find it, was surprised at the amount of SA cachers there were in the log book. Cache is all good

Today I decided to head out into the country side, around the back of Sheffield and Devonport. With such a great day with the weather it was nice to collect a few caches.

In our opinion, 2y'stassies should rename themselves 2sneakytassies ! ! We did our Braille exercise ages ago and determined the whereabouts of GZ and even though I have had a number of abortive attempts on passing by this spot, today we two decided to give it a red hot go. Just beginning to think about giving up and going fishing instead when a couple of new blackberry shoots latched onto something which gave the game away, and the operation became a good substitute for fishing at the same time ! Thanks for testing us out 2y'stassies.

23-Jun-19
Solved the puzzle several months ago and forgot to come and solve it.
After reaching in and retrieving the cache I realized there was an easier way.
Our 50th cache, thanks for the cache and the puzzle.

26-Mar-19
After a very cold night in Deloraine, I headed west today, picking up a few caches along the way. I ended up finding my way as far as Stanley before heading back to Black River to camp for the night. At least the rain has eased off a bit and its nowhere near as cold and windy as last night.

This was a puzzle I solved prior to leaving Adelaide in anticipation of my visit. Initially I was guided to the wring area by my GPS. But once it settled, I had no trouble spotting the cache, although I didn’t realise until after that I could have done it a much easier way. Maybe that is a type of cache blindness?

Thanks 2y'stassies for the puzzle and the cache.

Found during a fantastic holiday around Tasmania for the fortnight. Solved beforehand in preparation for the trip. Thanks for the puzzle and cache 2y'stassies!

21-Nov-18
I worked this out before leaving home and today was able to make the find. A mirror and torch assisted here. Quite a stretch. It was only on returning the cache did I find the easier extraction method. A local plant drew blood. This is my 500th puzzle cache, which means I now qualify for a challenge cache, so two caches for one Smile. TFTC 2y'stassies.

03-Nov-18
I arrived in Devonport to 10 degrees after having 38 on Thursday in St Arnaud and 34 on Friday in Melbourne, so a bit of adjustment was needed. Surprised After setting up my van in our campsite at Port Sorell I went caching as you do...I had a few solved mysteries around the area so I targeted those while waiting for my friends to arrive. [^]

This was the last of the three and I really enjoyed the drive, it is so pretty and green, so different from home. Big Grin

Found the cache but didn't realise it had an extraction method...so I improvised. Red Face

Thanks for the puzzle and cache 2y'stassies. Smile

Tassie Trip Day 14 - It was decided that some better honey beside the woolworths Yellowbox honney that we purchased at devonport was needed to be in the pantry for our Tassie escapade so off to Cudleigh for some more honey also obtained some more at Mole Creek on our little adventure today.

This one was solved and it was on the road that the GeoVehicle Track maker took us so it was a good as any time to collect this cache whilst we were going past it was an easy find and the blindness had taken hold until I realised something and the CO will know what that is.

Thanks 2y'stassies for another great play on cache blindness and showing us this lovely state.

Great hide and cache.
Thanks for bring me here and cache.

25-Feb-18
Very pleased to be able to pick this one up at last. We had it worked out for our planned trip late last year, but due to medical issues, never made it here. Today, we were in luck. Both with being able to get to Tassie at last and also to find this cache. Now off to explore more of this awesome island. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache.

25-Feb-18
YAY. At last we get to find this cache. Thought the day would never come. Parked up the road a little and walked back. Beautiful area. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache.

31-Jan-18
I've found that me cache blindness has taken a turn for the worse since arriving in Tassie [:o]
Maybe it is just a problem in the Devonport, Sheffield, Port Sorell triangle Razz
And me caching sight will improve when I move to other areas.
Initial signs are hopeful,
as caching blindness levels returned to normal on ventures out to Ulverstone and the West Tamar in the last fortnight Big Grin

This morning I was headed for the heart of the triangle again ...
... first stop was here !!
Oddly 'nuff,
this was a quick find to get me caching day off to a promising start Razz

TFTC.

Hi there 2y'stassies.

We are camped in Forth, and plan to find geocaches all around the area in the next few days. We found your cache **"Cache Blindness #1"** at 9:48:00 AM today. (This brings our total find count to 18493).

We ended up finding a variety of container types and sizes on our journey & found 8 caches (& DNF'd 1).

Thank you for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places to visit on our nomadic wander around Australia.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Smiley Badge.

Thanks for the hunt today,

Regards

Ian & Penny.

Decoded this one months back, however, rarely get to venture into this part of the world. Today was the day and surprisingly easily found. My muddy knees matched the colour of the sheep in yonder paddocks for my efforts.. thanks..!!

09-Oct-16

No cache blindness today! An appropriate code & quick find in the rain once the GPS settled down. TFTC 2y'stassies! On to the next!

23-Sep-16
Not a case of cache blindness as the cheetah found it very quickly, but retrieval blindness.
We sent the cheetah down into the dark but she still couldn't reach it. The deer and aus wasn't having any part of retrieving that. Aus2 stepped in with a stick he managed to move the container forward and then saw the ---- Hooray.
Thanks for the cache.

23-Sep-16
While the 3 adults were using the gps to try and determine GZ the cheetah, who was about 50 metres ahead, gave out the all too familiar cry ‘it’s here’. The cache retrieval was a joint effort between granddaughter and grandfather. We really liked the placement of this cache. Thanks 2ystassies.

TFTC, Took a little while to find, helps if you get CoOrds correct I was out by .005, anyway a great hide

Cheers

24-Mar-16
I could quite easily solve the puzzle last night, and today I drove to gz, where I found the well hidden container. TFTC!

08-Mar-16
I wasn't as much in the dark with working out this one of the series. Today, MummyPenny spotted the hide and made it perfectly clear that she wouldn't be reaching for it. I grabbed an implement to fish it out and realised I needn't have; nice touch. A bit of moisture had crept in so we wiped it out and cleaned the seal before returning it to darkness. Thanks again 2y'stassies .

08-Mar-16
Not only is Baktrak a whizz at puzzles he doesn't mind creepy places, thank goodness.
Clever retrieval exercise thanks 2y'stassies

07-Feb-16
Today was day 44 of our trip out of Sydney to visit the southern states of Victoria and Tasmania and day 2 of the Tasmanian part.

This puzzle had been previously solved and was a fairly quick find to start the day. After the log had been signed the cache was replaced as found. Thank you for bringing us to the area and for placing this cache for us and others to find.

Solved the puzzle prior to our trip. MrGT54 found the cache. Tftc.

Our first of the puzzle's enjoyed the result TFTC.

Travelling around Australia and spending a few months in Tasmania.

This morning Mrs Felix ducked into town to make the find of our last 2 unfound caches, refuel the geocruiser and some last minute shopping.

Then off towards Smithton!

Well a puzzle that didnt torture our brains! Found a suitable parking spot and then walked back to the cache. Busy road this plenty of passers by!

Having solved this one a while ago I was keen to find it today as we were in the area. The cache was easy to see but retrieving it was a different matter. After scratching around did a bit we got it - well thought out! The cache hadn't been found for a while but was in good condition. SL TFTC 2y'stassies. Left TB. #[email protected]

23-Aug-14
An excellent puzzle followed by a quick find - no cache blindness today!

03-Aug-14
This was the third & final find in the CB series for us, but we found it by far the easiest, both with the puzzle & the hide. It just took us a lot longer to get there. As with the previous finder though, there was a little gotcha awaiting us on arrival (& yes, the inevitable car came along just then). Thanks 2y'stassies, an enjoyable little series - particularly #2 (both puzzle & hide top notch).

16-Jun-14
I solved this one back in SA. (And the other 2 in the series.) this was a quick grab in a very nice area.

The fishing line was a bit of a surprise. I was going to do the sign etc in the car but i had to stand in plain view and do the sign. With luck no one drove past.

Left a calling card and die.

TFTC

08-May-14
We had solved the other two in the series some time again and had assumed the same for this but no notes so a bit of Googling and we soon had something we could turn into co-ords. Once at GZ we soon spotted the hid and the retrieval arrangement. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

The puzzle was easy enough, locating GZ was easy enough, but we got more than we bargained for when a swarm (I think the correct term is 'cluster' but it doesn't sound like many) of baby dragonflies
'exploded' from GZ. We nearly walked away but decided to have another stab at it. It took a little while but finally we had success! TFTC

03-Dec-13
Gotcha !!! TFTC

24-Aug-13
Thanks chickp753 for letting us know the problems. When we arrived we found the cache out in the open, not in the secure hiding place which provided protection from the weather. We have totally replaced the cache container and contents. We urge future cachers to ensure that the cache is returned to its secure location.

28-Jul-13
log book was quite damp although cache is dry. Still able to be signed with a pen

27-Jul-13
a Good find after solving the puzzles. Have now found 1 and 2 just need to pick up 3 when we are in that area to complete the series.

Really enjoyed this series of puzzle caches. Thankyou for organising the puzzles and caches. Thankfully found this one easier to find than #3. TNLNSL. TFTC.

11-Sep-12
It was time finally to find the third cache in this series and this one had always been a bit off my beaten path until now.
I structured the last of my remaining time here this afternoon to pick up this and a few other local caches that took my fancy. I should have realised it would be a clever hide, nearly got me here!
However I soon worked out what to do, logged and replaced.
Thanks to 2y'stassies for this entertaining series.

26-Jul-12
Maintenance check today - all OK.

23-Jul-12
Hi 2y's tassies
Arrived at ground zero expecting a real challenge in finding this one.
However, it was one of the quickest finds I have had because the medium was exposed too much.
The cache found and extracted, the log signed and the cache re-hidden very well at 0951hrs.
This find brings to a close for me of what is a great series, the Cache Blindness Series.
All three caches were very well constructed and hidden extremely well.
TFTC, TFTS and cheers;
OldSaint.

Looks as though an animal gnawed part of the retrieval mechanism. Now repaired. If the same things happens again, will look at something which will definitely blunt teeth! Otherwise, everything in good condition.

21-Nov-11
This was one of our very first geocaches, the day after we bought the gps. Unfortunately I had no idea what I was doing and had the units set to decimal seconds or something. This led to a walk in the bush about 300 meters away from the cache and a rather upset man telling us we were on private property.

Returned today with the correct settings, although admittedly a little nervous with the memories of last time, and made a very quick find.

Recovery was easy although I didn't notice the designed method until I returned the cache as it was no longer attached. I attempted to attach it but this would have left the cache dangling like a pinata so just put it back how I found it.

TFTC nice to get this one over with.

19-Nov-11
The puzzle was reasonably straightforward, but I was worried about being able to find the cache after my abject failure at #2.
As it happened, the big challenge was reaching the cache, and I failed to notice the new retrieval mechanism until after I'd got a wet behind lying on the ground and was holding the container.
The drive back to Devonport went through some stunning country - thanks for the cache and the drive.

02-Oct-11
Routine maintenance run today - all is well, the cache being present, safe and secure.

19-Aug-11
Thanks to 2y'stassies for their approval to log this one.
We have enjoyed the Cache Blindness series. Well worth the effort to solve the puzzles with some good hides to boot.
Excellent work and much appreciated.

07-Jul-11
RSF1010+SGGK's find is confirmed and entered into the log. We checked the cache this morning and all is well, still in the same location where it was placed. We were able to retrieve it by kneeling on the ground and reaching in. However, we do recognise that cahers with shorter arms are at a disadvantage. Whilst the cache remains in the same hiding spot, a modification has been made to make retrieval a little easier.

We worked out the puzzle before leaving for our Tassie trip, found GZ, however: The cache is out of reach! We could see it right at the end of its hidey-hole but our arms were too short to reach it. In addition, its position was so awkward that during an attempt to retrieve it with the help of a stick it travelled even further away into hiding. Therefore, we were unable to sign the log but hope that this online log will be accepted. Hopefully someone else has longer arms or better tools to save this cache. We have photographic evidence of our visit, which we are happy to email to the owner on request.

Thank you for the interesting puzzle

The road was very busy this afternoon and I wonder what all the passers by thought about us poking around! Dark places were discovered and the cache was brought to light by the long arm of Virga 13! TFTC, I enjoyed working out the puzzle.

Plenty of muggles driving by, so no place for unwary cachers. Long arm and muddy jeans retrieved the cache. Good decoding by Thistlecat.

I was bored one day last week, so decided to do some of the puzzle caches in the area. These Cache Blindness ones were tricky, but good puzzles. With my partner's help, we solved Cache Blindness #2 first, without any other assistance, so had a good idea of the system, but still needed a little extra clue from Wikipedia for Cache Blindness #1. Once we figured out the way of it, we cracked it with some logic and some guesswork. Confirmed the location of GZ on Google Street View.

Then, a few days later we headed down to the Walls of Jerusalem, and were passing this way, so it was a simple matter to stop and just pick up the cache. Smile While we have certainly had our share of embarrassing cache blindness experiences, thankfully that wasn't to be the case this time. As we were retrieving the cache, a hoard of bikies roared past on their sunny Saturday morning joy ride (so it was Cache Deafness too, then).

Thanks for providing a couple of nice puzzle caches. We have yet to pick up #2 though the puzzle is done.

Hmmmn, the opposite of blindness this time, unusual, as I often struggle to find caches and rely on the eager Eyrettes to do the finding.
I did struggle to solve the clue and wasn't sure about the co-ordinates but I still loaded them into google earth and before I hit street view and so I studied the low res image.......
This morning I drove along the road, saw the familar scenery and stopped right in front of the hidey hole. The GPSr showed that I was 3 m away when I turned it on.....cache in hand.....
Street View is the opposite to cache blindness but it does give a sense of deja vu....
Thanks 2y'tassies for the fun cache.
