It seems that Coruze (Corinne and Susie) have put Yackandandah on the caching map and calendar.

Coruze informed me that they were thinking of conducting an event and asked me if I was able to lend a hand getting it ready. I jumped at this opportunity.

The mission was to hold an event over 2 days in the small town of Yackandandah that provided a variety of caches in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

When? - 5 weekends time! Wherigo? - Yes! Night cache? - Yes, with a twist! Puzzles? - With a difference! Letterbox? - Why not! Multi? - For sure! TB Motel - none here! Welcome Pack? - agreed! Free raffles? - Let's have 7. The rains came and flooded out the site, bugger! We have 5 days left, Let's find an alternative site - Done!

The attendance logs have shown that Camp and Cache 2010 succeeded in it's mission and was well received by those who attended. Bigger, better and different things are already being discussed for next year's event. Thanks to the sponsors as well and hope they come on board next year.

Thanks again Coruze (Corinne and Susie) for the great time and if I can help at next year's event I will.

After such a great weekend event, the hard part is logging it and finally letting it go. Was my first Camp and Cache event and hope it will not be my last. After the rain on Friday and Saturday morning, the clouds parted and the weather stayed fine for the main events. Many new friends were met and many a laugh had. Well done Coruze for a great event, look forward to next years!!!

Micheena - Not sure if you only wanted photos of the camp site. Have added others of the whereigo and night cache.

What an absolutely great Event - great weather, camping, caching & tagging - what else could one ask for in life.

Our thanks to Coruze and Troobloo who did such a lot of preparatory work for this Event, only to have to rehash everything at the last minute and with a family crisis to boot - for your first Event you've put the bar a little high for your next one but the Club will certainly attend if invited next year.

Well done on all accounts

FORGOT - would the owner of the two chairs that we inadvertently nicked contact Trunks and I'll make sure they get back to you at some stage

The Camp and Cache was very, very nice and there were alot of caches to find. I had a lot of fun playing around with all the kids. Also I won the raffle on Sunday which was very good because it was a skipping rope and I LOVE skipping. Thank you very much for such a beautiful weekend, I had a great time. I hope everyone had a great time just like me as well Big Grin

Note from Mum - Thanks Coruze for the reminder to log this - we're quite a bit behind in logging her finds but we'll get there. Cheers.

I must congratulate the organizers I didn't quiet expect this amount of effort and appreciated it. Myself Abida and Mr Roo came down from Canberra and where one of the few groups with tents looked like most others had some camp trailers and caravans but it was a nice quite country location and I slept pretty well.
Got to meet a few old friends from Wagga and the organisers as well as some of the of the victorian cachers nice. I might even return here with the family. The whole trip was well worth it, I don't know how that managed to stop the rain.
Also well done for ALL the new caches a pity our time didn't permit us to do all of them, but managed quiet a few, really enjoyed the night cache and the WhereIgo, well done all round.
Let us know if you make it up to the ACT !
thanks

Thanks for organising the “Camp and Cache 2010 Event” we all enjoyed ourselves. Big Grin

The best night we had was when we shared a big laugh with the night cache because Laker63 and myself had very bad balance at night which made us fall, Alchemy2 tried to help us but we knew she couldn’t help as we kept stopping and laughing all the time. Poor Laker63 lost her reading glasses. So she borrowed my reading glasses till we went to shopping and bought a new pair. She had fallen and scraped her knee in the process, still a fun night enjoyed by all.

I would like to thank Coruze and Troobloo for their excellent organisation and we truly enjoyed this event. We wish we could stay there two nights not one night.

Missed out with wherigo as we were unsure with how to use it and we were on a busy schedule before returning to Melbourne.

I cant wait for next year if Coruze and Troobloo will organise an event again. We would love to go there again. Beautiful fresh, country as opposed to our Metro areas.

Again, many thanks for a great time.

Sarah and I arrived a bit late after an evening meal at the Yackandandah Star Hotel, but managed to catch up with the night cache and had a ball doing it, despite getting lost at the start Red Face
Lots of fun. Popped in for the group photo the next day before heading home. Thanks for a great event.Cool

#835 - A huge congratulations to Coruze and TrooBloo for putting on a very successful event in spite of the prior rain and change of venues - all we spoke with thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we were VERY blessed with the weather. Great to meet cachers from other regions, those we didn't see at the event we seemed to find in the field Wink yet there were still others that we didn't manage to catch up with....perhaps another time. A great variety of caches were laid out and we enjoyed them all but the highlights for us were the puzzle and Whereigo.....and the satisfaction (aka relief) of finding Go the Roos Wink. Great to meet the wonderful Pathtag people & learn more about them, we'll have some in production as soon as (we find some time and) we get the design sorted. Hope that the Riverina cachers will be OK with the flooding - we're thinking of you and yours. Thanks very much - we had a blast! Big Grin

Well done Coruze & Troobloo for organising such a successful event !
Would have loved to have been there in person, but was moving house on this hot sweaty weekend.
Was granted a "virtual attendance" by Coruze for supporting the raffle with stuff from my little shop.

Thank so much to the organisers for a faulous weekend. So nice to meet fellow cachers, look forwad to catching up with you all again Smile

05-Dec-10
WOW, what a magnificent weekend. We can't wait until the next one next year.
You both need to be patted on the back for a job well done.
The set up was great, the camping area was great, the caches were great and both of you were FANTASTIC.
Look forward to catching up with you both again soon.

We also had a ball meeting other cachers that we hadn't met before, along with catching up with fellow cacher friends that we love to chat with at all the local events that we happen to be at.

Winning 3rd prize in the Sunday Raffle was definitely a bonus as wse have never one anything before at any of the events that we have been to. Thanks heaps for that. And to be FTF on the whereigo cache was great. That is definitely a version of caching that we will be looking into. Thankyou for introducing it to us.

Cordelia would like to thank everyone for all those lovely cuddles.

Look forward to seeing you all again somewhere down the line.

Cheers

Big Grin First of all we would like to say a big Thank-you & Congratulations to Coruze & Troobloo for hosting such a great event! The whole thing was a blast, a great venue and you even turned the warm weather on for it! [^]

This is only our second event, but we definately know it will be one of the better ones we attend, and we do hope it is now an annual event!
We really enjoyed meeting up with a heap of new cachers, and always enjoy spending time with the local folk - you know who you are! RazzRazz

We'd also like to mention the effort you have gone to in placing an excellent range of new caches in the area!
GeoKid Adam had a blast meeting up with a few other GeoKids and a few friendly animals! Adam was also happy that Sam won the boys raffle today - but too small to play with them! Thanks.Big Grin

Overall, a very well organised, enjoyable event! Two Tumbs up from us!! See u all at the next one! Big Grin

micheena - Thanks to Corinne, Suzanne and Gil. Job well done. Had a great time catching up with new and old caches. Have come home with plenty of phone numbers. Done our first night cache and WhereIgo cache, and had a lot of questions answered. Can't say thankyou enough, and hope after a well deserved rest, just maybe next year it will happen again.

04-Dec-10
Thanks for organizing a great event Crouze and Troobloo. You guys did a wonderful job in organizing the Event and a range of great new caches, the venue was great, the weather was great, the company was wonderful. We enjoyed having a look around Yack and meeting up with fellow cachers thanks for a fab weekend.Look forward to next years Event.

04-Dec-10
This is the 14th Event Attendance and the 748th find for WazzaAndWenches

A huge thank you to Coruze and Troobloo for organising such a great event. Another huge thank you for all the work in placing new caches (especially considering the frustrating in creating the WhereIGo cache - we really enjoyed it).

The variety of cache types was very much appreciated by everyone we spoke with. It's not often you can 'tick the box' for at least two new caches types in one caching trip. There are very few letterbox or whereigo caches around so it was great to have a go at both of these.

Great to catch up with fellow cachers - some of whom we only see around once a year. It's also great that caching brings together people from such diverse backgrounds and everyone gets along well and can share a great time together.

Our thoughts are with the Riv Cachers as they deal with yet another flooding. Hard to believe the weather is so warm and steamy with clear skies yet just a short distance away towns are sandbagging.

Thank you again Coruze and Troobloo for a great weekend and for all the work to organise it.

04-Dec-10
A great event well done! Was great meeting new people and exchanging some stories. TFTC

1561 I was rather privileged to be in on some of the planning for this weekend but the reality certain surpassed what I had expected - well done to Coruze & Troobloo for all the preparations for this event, including a last-minute venue change and what was obviously a direct line as regards the beautiful weather that eventually came through.

You've given yourselves a reputation now and I, like everyone else, will be attending your next and future events if at all possible.

Thanks guys for a wonderful weekend.

Number 26 for the day.

It was fun going here with Mummy and fitzy_1965, I enjoyed following the dog around and riding on the merry go round, even though it was a bit rusty. I found heaps of new treasures while I was here - a few all by myself! (I'm only 6). Also I wanted to say thank you for my awesome prize and thank you to eveyone who helped me have so much fun. I want Mummy to bring me back next year! Big Grin

Attended with the Riverina Geocaching group on our Camp and Cache event weekend. We headed down on friday to set up camp, and although we had a few early dramas it did not affect the great weekend that followed. We travelled all around the area & went to places we would not have seen if not for your great organisation of the whole weekend. The way the new caches were released separately was well done, as it allowed us to take our time to get around them all. The welcome packs & prizes were also a great bonus. You really excelled at hosting your first event, so you should be all very proud. Took my coins back out & Signed both Logs,
TFTEC Coruze & Troobloo, we might see you again next year.
Roostaman.

04-Dec-10
Congratulations to Coruze and Troobloo for putting on such a great event. The variety of caches put out especially for the weekend was great with a bit of everything and something for everyone.
Against all odds with one venue washed out they found another venue and persisted despite the forecast of a wet weekend and somehow managed to arrange dry weather for the weekend.
We had a great time and hope that it becomes an annual event so that we can return next year.
Thanks for a great weekend.Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

From the moment I walked in the gates, I had the feeling this weekend was going to be a ripper.
Being welcomed by our hosts for the w/e, Corinne, Suzanne & Gil, with raffle tickets, name tags, and a showbag, was just the start to a wonderful event.
I cannot thank you highly enough for the weeks of effort put into getting this up and running, the huge variety of caches for everyone to try, and all the new caches placed just for us. You can be highly proud of yourselves in presenting this town in such a big way.
The atmosphere was very friendly, and I found it easy to move around and talk to a lot of smiling faces.
The night cache and the wherigo were highlights with a lot of laughs and camaraderie all round.
I was pleased to list this one as find No. 1100

Can't wait for the next one!

04-Dec-10
A big well done to Coruze and the others who put the event on. I thought everything ran well from a visitors point of view and I certainly look forward to it being an annual event.

The location was great, far enough away from town, but not that far that you couldn't head back........like we did a few times.

Great to meet a lot of other cachers and the fun of the night cache and the wherigo just added to the overall good time. Thanks also for all the other caches placed for the weekend.

This part of Victoria is great to visit and I look forward to coming back again.

Again, many thanks for a great time.

04-Dec-10
Travel bug drop.

Thanks heaps for organizing the event, although we didnt officially take part it was great to meet the other teams out on the caching trail.

The time and effort that has gone into placing all the new caches is very much appreciated

Thanks again

There has just been an evacuation notice issued for parts of Wagga because of the flooding so we think it prudent not to leave Wagga in case we can't get back. I hope everyone has a great time.

03-Dec-10
TFTE, Many thanks to Coruze & Troobloo for a great event. Yes it was me that got bogged on the first cache I tried after meeting Roostaman at the event.
Have to congratulate Coruze on all the new caches put out, loved the diverse hides and types.
My top three where
1. I spy, loved looking for the images without looking at the co-ordinates, great fun
2. WhereIgo fun and different. I could not get it to work on my Iphone until I got home and then it loaded straight away.
3. Gorge by Torch, the course was well marked out, and the path was good, and a lot of fun to do it with so many people.
Also thought the chirp was very interesting.

Roostaman thanks for pulling my name out for the major prize!!!!
Thanks to the other members of Riverina Geocaching, who made the trip, and formed the convoy as we did all the local caches.
Yackandandah, was awesome!!!

03-Dec-10
Mr_roo will be hopping in. Hope to see everyone

03-Dec-10
We will be staying on site, 2 tigers & 2 cubs.
We will be bringing our van.
Also will have with us the Glow Micro Geocoin / pathtag sets that everyone has been so patiently waiting for. The pathtags finally arrived yesterday.
If you haven't ordered one thats ok, we will have a few spare sets with us.

Hmm, just need to buy some umbrellas and gumboots, after living in North QLD for the last 5 or so years, we kinda don't have any yet...lol

Hoping to kidnap a few of the GNOMES that are running around Bendigo, emphasis on the HOPING...catching the little buggers is a full time activity here, they are sneaky little buggers and very quick.

We look forward to seeing you all at the event, and Cordelia is looking forward to meeting everyone as well.

Will attend this weekend - our first sleep over cache event and the geokids are jumping out of their skin - looking forward to being there. The caravan park warned me that there is a lot of rain about - is this a problem?

28-Nov-10
OK GUYS....IMPORTANT MESSAGE...

We have found alternate accommodation at an old christian camp. The accommodation is not exactly the hilton but it definantly fit's the purpose. The site being a christian camp will be used on Sunday morning for church so we need to be mindful of this.

What is available:
Camp sites - unpowered $10 per site
Caravan and campers, unpowered $15 per site
There are also a few dorms available at $15 per head. (each dorm sleeps 6-8)

What we need from ALL ATTENDEES Please email the following:
How many people are in your group
What accommodation were you after?

Please note that the Camp is available Friday evening to Sunday morning.

The Yackandandah Hotel has rooms available make your enquiries direct 02 60271210

Hope to hear from you all soon.

Wazza and the two Wenches will attend but are staying off-site.
Noted the updated co-ords.

Lets hope the weather improves just a bit. It's very damp over here in Echuca and nearby towns are bracing for some flooding - first time in many, many years.
Great to see such great rains above the Lake Eppalock catchment and the spillway flowing for the first time in more than ten years. Big GrinBig Grin

With the kind permission of the Event organisers the Aussie Pathtag Club will be in attendance to answer all your tagging questions and to show off our great first tags.

We'll be staying at the caravan park and will put up our temporary banner for those who would like to join us on Saturday afternoon for a tag-swap meet.

We'll also be there early so if anyone's interested in joining Trunksnsuch & Landsergruppe for Chinese (I'm sure we'll be able to find a restaurant in town) on Friday night you will be more than welcome.

Looking forward to my first night-time group cache event - see you all there.

Will be attending this fantastic event along with Trunksnsuch, as reps for the Aussie Pathtag Club. Looking forward to meeting new caching friends, and chatting about all things 'Pathtags'. We are hoping to have Decembers tags with us so we can hand them out to members at the event.Smile
