I was driving right past GZ this afternoon, so despite knowing that this would have a low likelihood of being present, I thought I would stop and have a quick look. Unfortunately, there didn't seem to be anything here, and the only structure at GZ was the street signage. Perhaps it used to be a nano cache on the sign, as there weren't any photos in the gallery to go off. Alas, it has been eight years since the last find, and sign nanos seem to struggle to get past a year or so, so probably long gone. Thanks anyway Amethyst_Cat for the cache placement. ---------- This afternoon, I needed to pop to Ferny Grove to make an errand, so upon my return home, I detoured past a couple of geocaches. It was a few quick stops between rain showers.
Decided it's time to close this one down - I've never been super good at keeping up the maintenance on these things and find myself preferring to find caches more than create and maintain them. Feel free to set a new one up in the vicinity!

Looking to fill in a few spare hours so we thought a Northside invasion would be the go! LOL ...
9 of 15 caches found this afternoon.
Hmmm?
Pretty sure we know where it is located but how to retrieve it without drawing undue attention to our antics?
Parked the Geo-beast in position to block the view of the nearby muggles washing, & working on, their cars.
Soon had the cache in hand.
Signed & replaced as found.
Moved on with the muggles none the wiser.

I was headed this way for an event so thought I would arrive a little earlier to find some caches.
Once I arrived I found this one to the closest relative to where I was standing so I headed for it.
I felt super suspicious snooping around GZ and I had only been there half a minute!
That seemed long enough so I was just going to give it a miss when I spotted it.
I signed it off and returned it. TFTC.

Trying to be stealthy here was very tricky. Too many neighbours out washing their cars on a Saturday. I'm pretty sure they were looking the other way when I made the grab but I'm not so sure I replaced it undetected. I just hope they didn't look my way at that moment. TFTC
# 749 - A day out with friends always is a good day out, in particular when they are geo-friends. After some very necessary GPS lessons IolantheK took us around the area to turn up a few smileys. We were in further company of Triciac2 and for part of the day of Rhyssa6. Together we must have baffled a few muggles with our antics!
If it hadn't been for IolantheK who had found this cache before, and Triciac2 who stuck her hand in a place where I don't like to go, I would have never been able to sign this log so easily. A very tricky spot indeed.
Thanks to the abovementioned and TFTC Amethyst Cat

OIt with the tough mothers today. Many of us were happy to grab this one since many of us had previous dnfs here, myself included. After reading back through all the logs, we had a few clues which led us to one spot, we kind of dotted it, but after a through search bennyboppers grabbed it, tftc.
Like others before us we searched in all the wrong places before narrowing down gz from hints in previous logs.
Out caching with Remsjw, Lisylou, Misssusan, Jemillalucy and Bennyboppers. We read previous logs and that got us in the right area. Bennyboppers found it.....thank goodness! Don't know how this has stayed here or stayed dry. TFTC!
Very happy after reading clue after clue with the tough mothers today I found it yah I had been here over 12 mths ago tftc
Tough Mothers were on the way to get this one no matter what the weather is like. Being fine, the container OK.
Out caching with Lisylou and Remsjw. Searched everywhere, read previous logs, changed our coords but still no luck.
Very tricky. It had been raining today so was surprised we found it first time but the other logs gave us a clue as we are newbies to geocaching. Thanks
Easy and quick right where I thought it would be after reading the logs, good cache anyone looking for it look for number 1 lol
TFTC finally found after getting some hints reading previous logs, great hiding spot!
Looked & looked & teared hair out but could not find it. Will come back another day. Bummer
Second visit to this site with SpiderPig1977. After work is not the best time to avoid muggles, but, somehow, we managed. It is a tricky hiding spot for newbies, but we found it
Back for my second visit today. Was here yesterday and had a pretty good suspicion as to where it was but was a bit dubious about the retrieving of it. Back today with geodaughter's bf and his mate Mojodojo23 and he picked it up very quickly - right where I thought it would be. Actually it was easier to retrieve than I thought - I probably could have gotten it yesterday after all.
Found it with our muggle uncle and friend from Townsville while introducing them to caching. Couldn't sign as we forgot a pen but will be back soon! Trackables visiting and hopefully dropping soon

looked really dodgy scavenging around a house early in the morning but luckily hanging around slippery bill long enough we were used to dealing with slippery situations and found this one#didntlethis1slip
Found by Sunshine Toledo and Jinga2 at 11:54am. Used the Cpts co-ords and got the cache quickly after looking in the wrong place first. We looked for this cache quite some time back when it was further down the road. TFTC
A quick park and grab. There was a car very close by but was able to reach the cache with ease. TFTC
Out geocaching today with Nursey Julie. A quick stop here, luckily it was accessible. Quick find. TFTC
This is my six cache today, took sometime to find, a nice hint "surprise to see it dry" got me over the line TFTC
Boxing Day was the perfect time for our second try at this one. No trains or muggles about and hardly any traffic. We had been unlucky on our first attempt when we visited Brisbane earlier this year as the area was too busy for a good look. I parked the car today, got out and almost walked straight to it while the boys were still fluffing about trying to figure out where to look. Thanks!
Finally I can tick this one off the list. My third visit to find this cache and this time the GPS was sending me to a different location so I assumed that it had been relocated since the last time I had been here.
This time I had an idea where I was going ot look but seeing the area was changed I had to look for a similar hide and found it easily this time.

Not quite what i was expecting. Took three attempts at this one but finally found it. cache is safe. Neighbors not disturbed. TFTC
At first this cache had me off on a different tangent.
But when I saw past that, I was able to direct straight to the cache.

Can't find it!! This has been my second time looking for it. Possibly a hint would help as it is the area where people go by regardless of weekdays/weekends???(obviously more at peak hour)
Out with the young 1s, captain terror's co-ords took us straight to the cache. Ty1s laid hands on it first and is making full use of his bragging rights!
Log was soaked so have left a new one inside a cliplock bag.

I was very happy to have Net88, a previous finder with me for this one. As usual, parked nearby and a short walk had me where my GPSr indicated. However no cache and when neighbour muggles were looking out of the nearby window at me, Net helped me out. Oh my, that is a.. shall I say, different spot for a cache. I have added the co-ords that worked for me today as my GPSr had me some metres away and previous logs indicate the co-ords have caused some confusion. Another smiley for sure with this one. I'm surprised the logbook was as dry as it is considering the hide. TFTC Amethyst Cat.
Had an idea in mind after my long and cranky search last time and sure enough, I spotted the cache immediately, just where I expected (feared?) it to be. My GPSr suggested the decimals were 046 and 021. Certainly an unusual location!

Second time here - coordinates still took us to the middle of the road, however this time we had a bit of a clue from caching friend We found this one quickly enough this time. TFTC Amethyst Cat.
2nd Attempt .
With a hint from a geocaching friend (thank you) we found this one after a few minutes search. The log is wet. We had trouble writing our names in the log, (must get that special pen everyone is talking about), so we stuck a sticker of our names + date in. Very sneaky hide . Found with Matt_Eth . TFTH Amethyst_Cat .

Coords has us in the middle of the road - found the "bedroom" people kept talking about in the logs, but no luck spotting any kind of cache. Quite difficult to search for anything, as people kept walking past to the train station at us and looking at us strangely. Will try again some other time. TFTUC.
I always hate to finish up on a DNF but I couldn't avoid in this instance. Having hung around for a while, I suspect that I was the subject of wonderment. I will come back with some more patient/focussed than I am.
No. 294
The day for finding the blue box on the hill had arrived, but we still had to find another 13 caches on the way. This was the eighth find of the day and it provided a quick park and grab after meeting up with my muggle brother (who was to join us for our search of the mountain). I was trying to get the quickest finds in the area in order to not bore Muggle Brother, so this one and a couple more nearby seemed to fit the bill.
Geohubby parked the car around the corner and I made a solo attack on this cache while the troops waited in the air-conditioning. I found GZ to be the centre of the intersection, like many before me. This cache ended up taking a lot longer than I had bargained for as I searched many possible hiding places on each corner and across the road. Eventually, I PAF'd and was given an extra hint that helped me narrow it down. A ha!!! Very evil and tricky hide indeed!
Thanks for the cache Amethyst Cat. I think I'll have to keep an eye on your caches in future.
Louie the Cat and Shark Attack were here.

Co-ordinates had me in the middle of the road.
If it is where I think it should be, it is not a grate position to place it, because it is missing.

Arrived at GZ with goldielover and stairman.... well after feeling quite uncomfortable searching near areas that seemed inapropriate, it was stairman that finally found this one!! ah, very sneaky indeed!! perhaps a hint as to where not to search might help??
thanks Amethyst_Cat

Our second attempt at this one. Our first attempt had us very close to the bedroom window. We widened our search this time and came up with the goods. TFTC
Found with Stairman1 and Agap2. This one had stumped us before so we thought we would have another go today. Lots of muggles walking past, but eventually Stairman1 had the container in his hand. Lucky it held on. Signed the log and bid farewell to Agap2. TFTC.
Found with Wombkes n co & Gambler2000
Can't say I am too keen on these kinds of caches.... I prefer the co-ords to be accurate but it's still a smiley in the end so all good... Also not sure how long this will survive with the weather?

Well, I didn't find it at the last location, and I didn't find it here. At least I'm consistent. I scoured a lot of strange spots and perhaps the resident will appreciate some of my inadvertent weeding. If people don't think the coordinates are accurate, why don't they suggest some better ones? I'm not that worried, because as long as we're on the right corner, I'll be happy. I guess the lack of a hint is part of the mystique...? TFTC anyway: it's clearly of a kind which doesn't come easily: tougher than a 2 stars for me, anyway.
We DNF on this one once before as we were in the middle of the road for GZ and after having a quick look at the most obvious places gave up but returned today for a further search. Went straight to it and surprisingly it is still nice and dry! The only place we didn't look last time, although we did look at the otherside....mmmm.

My last cache for the day with Net88. Pretty sure this is only one or two away from my 400th cache!!!
We found the GZ in the middle of the road so started our search, not there. Searching, searching, not a muggle in site luckily. More searching. Oh there it is. Tricky, tricky.

One of the last caches for me for our day out with Nyssa Flutterby and little mini nyssa. The coords had us in a rather unusual spot and after a lot of failing i PAF'd a local and he told me where to look. As soon as we got in the general area Nyssa came up with the goods. Thanks for the cache

out and about today with Brother Colin.
This was our last one as it is right near where I had to drop him off to head home. I've tried the original spot several times, and been to this one three times, each time getting more and more frustrated!!! Aaarghhh! Today, however, the monkey is finally off my back :D BC stuck his hand in and pulled the cache out, a very smug look on his face >.<. I looked there!!!!!!!! So many times!!!! No, really, I did!!!! AAArrrgggghhhhh!!!!!!
So glad to make this one a smiley. TFTC, Amethyst_Cat.

Nope - no luck for us either. The co-ordinates had us right outside of somebody's window . Next time.
I went to this one twice, on Friday the 20th. Could not find at all. GPS seems to point right in the middle of the street? Searched very thoroughly the whole area.

Relocated cache. When construction works at Ferny Grove station are complete will move back to the station area. The work is expected to be completed in 2012.
I noticed today that construction work for the station has consumed the cache location. I will relocate it to a nearby location as soon as practicable.
Yes, it does appear to the cache is actually accessible. On-going work at the station will mean I'll re-assess it's condition on a regular basis.
Have another look Cat ... it's still there and in good condition. GZ appears to be blocked off by building-works fences, but cache is accessible from public areas safely enough. Just get down and dirty baby!
I think that's two of this series I've done now - will need to look the others up.

I finally looked today and, alas, the Ferny Grove station upgrade has claimed the site of this cache! I will build it anew asap and replace it nearby.
Finally got round to logging all my finds since starting in August 2011. Done with geospouse IolantheK. For details of the hunt see IolantheK's log for blow by blow description.
Rain, muggles and some unpleasant material deposited at the feet of the two nearest trees made the search less than satisfactory today. Now that I have a mental picture of the GZ, I'll give it some thought and return when I can. TFTC anyway.
at 11:58. Removes a long time resident of our DNF list. Cyndi spotted it.

This one is close to home and I have been searching for it on and off for two months without success.
After Jasmine and Boris found it yesterday I emailed them for a hint.
Their hint pointed me in a direction and it still took me 20mins to find it.
And the hidey hole is really not that hard either. Embarrassingly easy really, you just tend to overlook the site or give it a quick once over...as I have done a few times. It is there.

I spend some time looking but did not locate anything. I drove past about an hour later and workmen were digging up the driveway right where I had been standing.
Thanks 'If'. That is quite possibly the most extraordinary response to a DNF that I have seen. You're lucky I've listened of The Monkees!
Riding along the line by bike today, I found meself in a ferny place.
There was a lot of construction work going on around here today [:o]
From what I could remember of my last visit, GZ was now inside the fenced off areas where the carpark used to be.
A quick check of the GPS showed the cache to be somewhere else though
Has it moved ? Or is it just my imagination ?
At the new GZ there was nothing to be found
So I stood back and took in the view for a while and had a fizzy 'thinking' cola
[green]Then I saw the place,
Now I'm a believer !!
Where else would you hide a cache,
Around here ?
A DNF was out to get me,
That's the way it seemed.
Disappointment haunted all my dreams.
I'm in shrubs,
I'm a believer...
It seems the more I searched the less I found,
Whats the use of trying,
all you get is pain,
when I needed sunshine I got rain.
But I'm a believer,
One day I'll get aboard,
And get that smilie,
Not a doubt in my mind [/green]

I have been wary of this one as there have been many experienced cachers attempt this one before us and came away without the goods. Well today we attempted it and unfortunately despite a resonable effort in the likely places, we have to add our names to the list of people who were unsuccessful. Thanks Amethyst Cat, we will return.
We found this after a short search in company of a group of cachers. TFTC Amethyst Cat
We arrived to tackle this cache with some trepidation based on the recent DNF’s, but the group has provided good service in the past to resurrect caches that people couldn’t find, with a multiple set of eyes covering a large to find that pesky cache. Just a Trifle was able to nab the cache in short time, mainly as we had seen a similar hide in Adelaide!
Good hide!

Not what you might consider a "typical" hiding spot but, the cache was found while hunting as a group today. This might have been dismissed given that it has had a string of DNFs but, ModelBear convinced us we should move in as a group and give it a go... Lucky we did as Just A Trifle came up with the container after we had ruled out the usually spots... [^]
Have to be honest, I am surprised this one is still in place...
Cheers Amethyst Cat.

Found today with a small group of SEQ puzzle solvers. This was an unusual hide and I doubt whether we would have found it if we had been searching alone. Thankfully one of the group just happened to look in the correct place and we get to put a smiley against this one. TFTC
Think we found GZ but couldn't spot the cache at all. I think I may as well give up on anything but the easiest caches! Was quite a good day to go though because it was a public holiday and there was a bus replacement service on. Had to look busy when some muggles walked past occasionally, and luckily the construction workers didn't pay much attention.
We had another look around today for a while as the geo-toddler slept in the car. A very quiet sunday arvo didn't help us at all. Note to self....'Don't bother attempting any micros in Europe when/if i ever get there'. We'll keep an eye on this one. TFTH
they are in the middle of moving things around in the carpar, might need to make sure this is still here
No joy for me today. Had a good look around new co-ords and couldn't spot it. Maybe next time. Thanks anyway Amethyst Cat
at 12:47 we agreed we had been defeated again. We'll wait and see how others go.
