I'm staying in St Arnaud for a few nights and today I hiked up to Mt Robert, taking the Pinchgut Track up, then following the Robert Ridge Route as far as the Mt Robert ski field, then returning down Paddy's Track. Is was a beautiful day for it and a most enjoyable walk. This cache was a quick find on my way up the mountain. TFTC!
Staying at Lake Arnoud for two days gave me the opportunity to hike a short loop trail along the bushes and ski huts with very beautiful views on the lake with clouds and sun and clouds and sun. TFTC Fischus

Our NEW ZEALAND - TASMANIA - AUSTRALIA JOURNEY takes us to beautiful places and provides us with an incredible number of wonderful moments and experiences.Occasionally we also visit a few GeoCaches along the way.Made a short detour into the forest on the way up, saw the cache quickly and logged it....Thank you for placing, maintaining and caring snapfish2 from SwitzerlandPS: Translated with the Deepl app
Finally able to do a longer hike out here on the mountain, so great up here with the nice views and the cool track. Of course I had to collect all geocaches along the way. Never was a long search, so no special remarks about the hides. Thanks to all CO's!

In order to satisfy the requirements of a challenge cache, todays aim was elevation up to Angelus peak, and back, along with a couple of side trips, in a day. Yes, it is possible even at this time of the year, with one end being in darkness though, the oh dear it's early end. I walked 40 km over the 15 1/2 hours and gathered together 27 caches. With the previous days snow in the area, the wind from the South, across the top of the ridge, created enough wind chill to freeze my drinking tube and make some ice crystals in my spare water bottle. And, just enough that there were a handful of snowflakes further along. Then, at the other of the day, the Northerly wind was warm. This was a few short of my original plan of 33 to keep on the safer side of darkness at the end of the trip.
This was #2. Yes, certainly has me puffing a bit going up here but thankfully my legs are fresh. Ask me that in 12 hours from now...

After walking to Whisky falls we decided to drive to the top to checkout the falls. We gave a hiker a ride up the hill and asked what track they would do for views and she suggested this one so off we went. There were great views. This was our turnaround spot. A nice quick find here.
Thanks for placing this cache

I started out later in the day, so this is as far as I hiked before turning around. I was happy to see the cache in a blatant spot since I was tired from the climb. TFTC.
We taking the five hours tour and found this cache.

I did the Pinchgut/Paddy circuit with a group of friends staying at Bushline Hut so, of course, took the opportunity to grab a few caches on the way... a good excuse for a rest break! Another nice quick pit stop and an easy find with a Bellbird watching me, TFTC!
Found that one on a sunny day on this beautiful island!Auf einem Spaziergang an einem sonnigen Tag auf dieser schnen Insel gefunden!Greetingsegdd
As we were looking for the cache a group came by, we ducked, stood still and quiet and no one noticed us. Both container and logbook were in good condition. Thanks for the hide.

It is a beautiful view indeed
Weather is going to be very hot while we are staying in St Arnaud for the next 3 days so today was a hike up Mt Robert to the Relax shelter via Pinchgut track, then across to Bushline hut and down Paddy’s track.
The hike up Pinchgut was not as difficult as I renembered, I might be a bit fitter these days compared to when I last did it over 20 years ago!! I had forgotten how beautiful the view is on the way up & from the summit We had a magic day weather wise & it actually wasn't too hot

This took a couple of minutes to find, but was really in plain view. Just wasn’t looking in the right spot. No issues here, TFTC jackieandgrant.
First full day in St Arnaud and it’s a warm one.
We decided on a trip up Mt Robert to the Relax shelter via Pinchgut track, then across to the hut and down Paddy’s track.
We looked at the weather and the day after is predicted to be even hotter, so today is the day for this and we got an early start.
We loved the climb up. It was not as difficult as I imagined or RG72 remembered, and we came across another couple to chat to on the way. The descent was a little more exposed, but no dramas here either. We did feel a bit drained after the trek though - probably lacking some fitness.
17 caches targeted today. Just one true DNF, another we gave a miss as there was a nice family settled in for a while. All caches signed RG + ricnz or variations close to that. Any particular notes on each cache is in the first paragraph/sentence, but we found them in pretty good condition.
Sorry for this cut and paste bit and thanks all COs for making the walk fun.

The sun is out and definitely making it a bit more of a struggle to get up the hill but the views are well worth it! Pleasant break in the shade to find this cache!
Quickly found on day 3 after spending a great night at Angelus hut. Getting close to the finish!
Thanks for hiding.

Ah, an excuse for a breather- a quick find by SJT_NZ, well put together cache for the location. Thanks jackieandgrant, all nice and dry.
Well the description of this cache is about right. Tregearp and I were heading up to Angelus Hut and it didn't really get any easier either. All in good condition. Thanks jackieandgrant for the welcome break as we searched, found and logged.
A chance for a rest! Once we were in the right spot it was a nice easy find. TFTC
Are we nearly there yet? Co-ords were 9ff but a quick scout and cache in hand. TFTC
Last cache for us up Mt Robert today...if we thought getting ti the last cache brought on complaining from the cachelettes, then this one was enough to drive us mad! Clearly we need to do some more hill walks with the younguns. TFTC.
This is the second time we come up here, last time was about 10 month ago and it was full of snow! This Saturday was cold but sunny, perfect for walking up here and enjoying the views!
And perfect for finding caches along the way.

One upside from the recent lockdown period is that it gave me the opportunity to think about some day walks and overnighters that I've wanted to do for a while but never got around to. So, with NZ regaining some sense of freedom I set off for one such walk - the Mount Robert circuit.
Moving on up and seemingly trading relative positions with the same groups of trampers, I found a gap in the traffic to dive off the path to seek out this one. So used to looking for little pill bottles now it's nice to spot a larger container - so much so I was taken by surprise that something as relatively large has stood the test of time - almost 10 years it seems.
Nice one jackieandgrant

OK its up Pinch gut track slowly. Enjoyed the breather here to snag and tag this one. Removed the food items and collected the TB (1000) here to move along. Cheers
Zara and I are off for some much needed tree time, with Lake Rotoiti on my agenda for today. Spent a fabulous time Friday and Saturday walking around Lake Rotoiti. Today my sights are set on Mt Robert. So lets go. Started from Buller River Bridge at 6.20am to finally get back to Zara at 2.30. Then decided to return home after a stop at Karens for an ice cream. Its been an amazing weekend.

There is a geocoin in the cache. It's a reward for 1000 geocaches founded.
We can't trace it, there is no number on it.
And we can't take it : we're still far away from this score !

Clear and sunny day was awesome for this short track around Mt.Robert and the caches made it even more interesting. Thank you
#632 Sunny monday morning was perfect to climb mount Robert and find some caches around the way. TFTC
Another day, another cache. Day 100 of our streak and we are off to Mt Robert. We have Plan A and Plan B if the weather doesn't play ball. Left the car around 10am and headed off up Pinchgut Track. This is the way we used to go when the skifield was still open and we carried our skis up for a day's ski-ing. Those days are long gone now though.
Headed off up the track and the huffing and puffing soon started, but we kept of going. Eventually after a few zigs and zags we come to the final corner where we quickly find a cache. No problems here, on to the next one. tftc

I actually found this one on accident! I stepped off the trail to collect a bit of rubbish off the ground. When I turned around to walk back out, I saw it. Good find! Thanks!

Our Christmas this year was spent with the very very extended whanau, introducing the overseas portion of them into Chrismas in the bush.
Final stretch and suddenly lots of caches! We ran up ahead & made all the finds while the slower end of the group were still making their way down!

Heading away for a few days with the extended whanau for a bit of hiking and some caching on the way, signing the log books as Team Polak for all of us. Last day of walking out and heading back home. Amazing scenery along the ridge that we had to follow as it bears the name of one in our party! great views, high winds, but rain went away, and we had a ball! Now for the downhill part to drop down back to the car. Last one for the trip! Time to eat and drive home. TFTC!!
Tramping the PinchGut and Paddy's Track back to St Arnaud with Tararaua Tramping Club group and managed to stop off to locate a few caches along the way. Beautiful day and fabulous walk. A clever hide. TFTC
Great spot, awesome view! Couldn't reach someone with that vintage phone but I found it quick! Thanks!
We are keen geocachers on holiday from Tauranga and grabbing a few smileys as we go. Walked up Paddy's track then down Pinchgut and had a wonderful walk. Had an easy find here with our geocashing eyes in focus. Cache was slightly loose, but we carefully replaced it. Cache is all good. TFTC
We had two wonderfull days in the Nelson Lakes National Park. We stayed at the very new campside called teetotal, basic but nice. On the second day we did the popular hike to mt roberts and the other way down to the carpark. We found some nice caches but also had two DNFs, but their probably gone.
The second on our loop. We had to hide from some hiking muggels. We don't want to know what they Thaught we were doing there.
Thank you very much for this nice cache on this beautiful hike!
Greetings from Switzerland , Team Fludia

Quick easy find on the way up the Pinchgut! Grateful for the reststop, phew!! Onwards and upwards!
This year me and RobLigtenberg were lucky enough to spend almost 2 months in New-Zealand on a great holiday. We explored both islands and just like everyone else we loved it. Apart from all the major attractions (roturua, tongariro, abel tasman, the glaciers, the fjords and so much more) we also tried to do some caches in order to discover even more of the country. On our way to the top of Mt Robert we were amazed by the amount of caches along the path. A great excuse to take this route and to take break now and then. Unfortunately clouds blocked our view when we were up at the top, but apart from that we had a great time. Easy find!

During our nearly two month holiday in New Zealand we spend time on both the northern and southern island. Both islands happened to be very beautiful, each in its own way. Together with Ninagustein we searched for many caches, as we think it is a great way of discovering the country. Numerous caches get you to places you otherwise wouldn't have visited and it is also fun to find caches at touristic places. On this day we did a hike to the top of Mount Robert. It was a nice and easy hike but unfortunately it was quite foggy on the top so the view wasn't great. Luckily we found three caches on our way to the top. This was the first one.

a quick grab at start of family outing up Pinch Gut. hoping to get to top between showers but had to turn round near top due to heavy hail! TFTC
fefe.adrien and I have visited the Nelson's lakes during few days and spent a great time.
Nice to see a preserved fauna & flora at the lake Rotoiti, many birds were so closed ! Nice waterfall at the lake Rotoroa.
Geocaching was perfect for walking and tramping around, especially the Mount Robert : such a nice view from the summit !
All of boxes were quite easy to find and well maintained but to many boxes found to make the difference in each log.
we logged with our team name : lekiprokos

Ninalila and I spent a few days visiting around Nelson's lakes and Karamea.
We went hiking to discover nice places and landscapes, and of course play geocaching at the same time
We found all the boxes without difficulty and discovered really good spots for photography.
We will keep good memories from everything we saw (Lake Rotoiti, Lake Rotoroa, Mt Robert, Moria Gate Arch, Mirror Tarn...)
It was a good opportunity to see a lot of native birds on each tracks we went.
So surprising to see them so close and get great pictures
We signed on logbooks with our team nickname : Lekiprokos
Thank you to all owners and their boxes for the discoveries we made.
