The container had gone missing. Have now changed the final location to a more secure site, not quite so far to walk! The instructions and hint have been corrected. Now ready for visitors!
Once again I am spending the weekend in Wanganui, and once again I have a Saturday afternoon free. Today I was prepared. I needed one more day of 50+ find to complete one part of the DGSc Challenge, and so today I was to focus on clearing out the Feilding area. An I did (mostly) thanks to a large number of recently published high quality hides, and a beautiful summers day. I had a lot of fun, spending ten hours floating around the region and gathering up Geocaches. Here's one I found.I was very confused by this one for the longest time. I had done the projection at home, and saw that the final location put me in someone's house. Had checked my coordinates with a previous finder, and he had the same answer as me but said he had just wandered around a bit and found the "quiet walkway" and an item that matched the hint. OK, I can do that. So I went as close as I could get to the coordinates I had, no walkway there, and not somewhere a cache would be (although there was chickens, and I like chickens). Then I spotted the very definition of a "quiet walkway" that meandered through some trees, so off I went. It was a nice walk, but not one of the trees matched the hint. I wandered about a bit more, and did see another couple of walkways, but they didn't look like I would describe as "quiet". So then I re-read the cache page and realised the mistake that had been made. I made an adjustment and wouldn't ya know it the coordinates I got were right on one of those not-what-I-would-describe-as-a-quiet walkway's. So I went there and the cache was found, safe and well.---Thanks to edvern for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.
Had trouble first time finding this but after trying a different method pin was quickly found. Not sure what we did wrong the first time. Quick walk and cache was soon signed! I wrote in the log and placed the cache carefully back as found. TFTC. Thanks edvern for placing this Mystery cache! edvern , ! 29 February 2024 at 6:42PM#882th Find
Quickly found with the Broken Biscuits crew following Popmac's ANZAC Day event. The locals are very friendly! TFTC edvern.
#12,825. This was an interesting cache. I solved the puzzle some time back but had not really appreciated the backstory and history of this site. Its hard to credit now but the huge multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical giant (Glaxo-Smith-Kline) had part of it humble beginnings at this factory as a dry milk powder manufacturer and its subsidiary company developed vitamin supplements initially then vaccines and antibiotics. Some of the most famous products came out with the Glaxo name which was first branded at this Bunnythorpe factory. The link here provides more interesting details.

The cache itself was a fairly quick find. Not in the first few spots checked then saw the cache sitting out in the open nearby. Signed the logbook and tucked it back in under a bit more cover. The locals are obviously used to strange people searching around this object! Thanks edvern for the cache.

Trying to keep up with the others in the watt mobile is challenging at times! But I made it here and was just beginning to search when others made the find. Keen gardeners around here!

Quick find of the overt replacement by Killrrhubarb. The nearby gardeners asked if we’d found what we were looking for — they see a few people searching Team sign as Broken Biscuits (because ANZAC Day). Cheers edvern!
Day 6/20 of my great puzzle cache series and a first in my non-favorite puzzles - navigation ones. Regardless of that, I came across gz pretty quickly to find nothing. Scrambled around the hint object, then got on Call with the co who gave me the go ahead to put down a new micro in its place as the previous one might be missing. Ah well! Good cache nonetheless (you're now looking in the same location)
With some inside knowledge from fellow cacher Kelly0 this was a quick find. I originally thought it was somewhere completely different- very glad caching is a community.
A puzzle i can actually solve! Thanks for bringing us to this secret little path. Tftc and Happy new year.
It is with immense satisfaction that I can finally turn this one into a smiley.
As per my log from last week, this cache has been one that I've looked at, and looked for, a few times over a few years but with no success. Last week I was looking forward to getting that remedied, only to find yet another impediment to crossing the finishing line!
But luckily for me, the CO has very kindly put in a replacement which allowed me to finally claim the find. The replacement is actually very well hidden, and with a slightly more robust container could remain as such. I was just happy to find it today.
Thank you edvern

Unfortunately the tree that the cache was hanging in has been cut down. A replacement container has now been placed at the base of the stump. Same cordinates.
Once you've been geocaching for a while, you usually end up with a handful of caches that become your caching 'nemesis'. Puzzles that you've struggled to solve, hides that you've struggled to find etc.
This has been one of those caches for me. I've had several goes at searching for this one over the last 4 years or so. Not being a GPSr owner, I resorted to using a well known and reputable online solver to project where I should be looking, but as I recently discovered when talking to the CO, it didn't give me the real solution to the puzzle so I've looking in 2 wrong places this whole time.
So today I was armed with correct co-ords, and arrived near GZ filled with hope that I would soon be able to tick this bugger off, only to discover that the tree in which I believe the cache to be hidden has actually been cut down! I did genuinely laugh when the realisation dawned on me that this cache is just bloody determined not to be found by me lol. It didn't spoil my day so I'm all good with it.
I'll keep it on my watchlist to see what eventuates

Out on a weekend caching trip with Buttels with the aim of picking up the SHIELD and 20/20 series and mostly solved puzzles along the way. Nice puzzle. Got to GZ and thought this might take a while as we couldn't even find the hint object. After widening our search we found a tree full of the hint objects and soon after located the cache. Extracted it carefully. The building across the road has removed all traces of the Glaxo history that used to be there. T4TC
Found the cache after a bit of search (hints can be so obvious after spotting. Once at the approprate GZ I was thiinking 'oh no, a big tree' the cahe was actually quickly located. A neat we puzzle & the GZ was quiet. TFTP
We found this a while ago but had no pens!!! Back today to log it. Many thanks for the walk around...I had no idea this walkway was here!
Slow cross country journey to Whanganui for work. Caching today in Ashhurst and on to Fielding. Amazing to think what marketing can do when nature’s solution was always so much healthier and cheaper. Cache all fine. Thanks
Previously I'd missed seeing this puzzle cache, but rectified that today. It's supposed to be my day off today, but I've been called in to fill in, so grabbed this on the way home.
I'm disappointed to see that all remnants of Glaxo have been erased - including the 'sign'. Accordingly my Projection was out by quite a margin, but at least I found the walkway!
Having found the walkway it was no problem to find the 'cone tree', and a short moment later the cache - exactly as per the hint. I must say I'm pleased I had my gummies on as it's a bit wet underfoot.
Although it's just started raining today, the cache is full of water; the inner container too. Initially I had trouble adding my name to the log, but after thoroughly drying the waterproof log, I eventually managed to add my moniker. Thanks for placing this cache. Just a shame that all vestiges of Glaxo have been erased. A 'sign' of the times I guess.

Pity to see industries like this move from smaller areas. Took us awhile to locate plus we assumed tree type was wrong. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... We were really keen to log a Leap Day Event cache and collect the souvenir, but our nearest was the camp-out at Awhitu. We have already cached in that area and wanted to use our time a bit more effectively, so we reasoned that a trip south would be worthwhile. There were three events in the Manawatu region. Road trip...
Another Leap Day marked and confined to history - Now it’s time to head home to some normality, but not before we visit a few more caches along the way... We worked on this puzzle while standing roadside. Our initial projection pointed to a block in the distance, but the final looked more like private property. Surely, this one wouldn’t be as hard as we were making it... We went for an exploratory walk, though we didn’t find what we needed. We decided to call our help-desk. Even before we received some assistance, we stumbled on the hide. Although the contents were wet and slimy, we managed to get our handles on the logbook. A good ending to this little adventure. Thanks edvern. TFTP and TFTC.

A big mission to the Manawatu day today, picking up a variety of cache types for an internet-based challenge.
An attempt to clean up all the caches in Bunnythorpe meant I had to solve this one and head on over to where I projected the coordinates. Found the relevant object and soon had the cache in hand. A little slimy inside, but I was still able to sign the log. TFTC

A gentle drive around waiting for the GIFF to start. knock off a couple of puzzles in the area and was looking forward to seeing you there thanks edvern good hide TFTC and the puzzle
Taking a rather longer route to get to the GIFF event in Palmerston North to enable us to pick up caches such as this. This was a nicely placed cache. not easily noticed by anyone passing by. Thanks edvern for the placement.
The crazy Labour Weekend plan is now in full swing. McJandals, NZFlossy & Davidson Clan are joining me for 29 TMGT Caches, the Manawatu Shield & Stickman series then whatever we can find in between. We'd just finished Wellingtons TMGT caches & a few in Foxton and seeing as our accommodation is in Bunnythorpe we figured we'd grab the local ones. Cache found quickly thanks to a straight forward placement and a good hint although it's pretty wet inside. I’m using a Cachly logging template so it's mostly cut'n'paste but I genuinely appreciate the work put into these caches. I’d also like to acknowledge watcache, mar1sa & the TMGT volunteers who have given this trip focus, and all the other COs who have made this trip such an adventure - TFTC
**Trip Stats:** 1 car, 4 Cachers, 90 hrs, 16hrs sleep, 2481Kms, 29 TMGT finds, 238 total Geocache finds.

. Day three on a road trip with Team BOP. Just popped down from Palmerston North for some TMGT and a few others Lots of fun with McJandals, Phillip Perry and Davidson clan visiting some great spots. Really enjoyed these caches and the history. Thanks to the COs for putting these out Arriving back at our accomodation and decided just a couple more TFTC
Staying in Bunnythorpe tonight so grabbing a few caches while we are here. With McJandals Nzflossy and Philip.Perry signed teambop.
Day 3. Targeting TMGT today. With no mega this year, a plan was hatched with Team BOP to come to the lower Nth Island to get some numbers knocked off, so here we are and loving it!! I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these cache. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers
Did the projection for this as we were driving along so managed to go straight to the final, no problems here and great to pick up another puzzle. TFTC
On a caching trip to the Manawatu as I had to get out and get some fresh air after being in the office all week. Started off in Ashhurst and made my way west to Feilding. A quick find after waiting for the motor mowing man to do his thing in the park. Waited him out with a bite to eat. TFTC

Programmed the GPS to do all the work...after a small hic up I was soon on the trail and GPS stopped at a likely spot....but no luck checked the hint and it sort of added up so looked some more....stood back and reevaluated....there was another tree close by that met the hint criteria but was approx ten meters out....decided to look and yes all good....both containers were full of water drained and dried as best possible ....signed the log and returned as found ....thanks Edvern for the great cache
I remember the Glaxo days. Arrived here in way to fielding. Stood at gz and wondered which access to use and after a small false start realised the correct entry point. At gz we spotted a tree that sort of worked so looked and looked with no luck. Stood back and spotted a different type of tree that also matched hint and very quickly spotted cache. Both containers were full of water so emptied them. Log paper all ok to sign though. Thanks for bringing us here edvern.
Replaced the container and logbook in a higher location at the same coordinates - hopefully it will stay dry here.
Out with Popmac on a mission to find a few caches. The hint was a bit confusing until I spotted the appropriate location. Cache was found soon afterwards. Thanks for the cache.
Let the Mega adventure begin! I landed in Palmy at mid day. After failing to find a way into the letterbox I decided to go for my main mission. This geocache. It is for a challenge that I want to complete. You are a CO who begins with E and this is a puzzle. Yippee.
I was out and about Fielding and its environs today signing off mainly solved puzzles and a few trads that got in the way.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Explored the local playground only to realise it's more for adults than little ones. It was then off for a walk to grab this cache which was found quickly while the kids played in the long grass. Great history read. Now how do I solve the other puzzle here? TFTC
Agree that the difficulty level could be raised a little bit - now done. Happy hunting!
We think difficulty should be a little higher. Very clever. Back and forth we went getting flashes of brilliant ideas only to be thwarted time and time again. And how far is 330m anyway? Finally a grinning neighbour who pulled up nearby knew straight away what we were up to and pointed us in the right direction. We would never have noticed without his help. Extremely good cache hide. Giving it a favourite. Well done to CO.
Heading outta palmy toward fielding. Trying for a few caches along the way. Didn't expect to be doing mysteries today but took the time out for this one.
I traveled down to Palmerston North for a 3 day geocaching weekend to give my numbers a bit of a boost, as I head towards my next caching milestone. I decided to fly there and back and pick up a cheap rental car for the weekend. The weather was perfect and I had a great weekend down there.
I joined up with yorkshirekiwi83 again today for another day of caching, before our flight out this evening. We started the day picking up a few caches around the city, before heading out to Bunnythorpe. I did the projection for this cache before we left and soon found the cache at our calculated GZ, signed the log and I managed to whack my head on a branch returning the cache! A nice wee graze and bump on the forehead as a result! TFTC!

Vistra and I had headed down to to Manwatu for the weekend, we both wanted a high number weekend and I was looking forward to meeting some of the locals as well.
Thank you to all the CO's for their placements some nicely placed, clever and tricky hides, so a great variety. Vistra managed to sustain a head injury here, slow leak, never mind he will heal. TFTC

Great little puzzle, GPS kept mixing us up with another, but all came clear in the end. Found another that we weren't even looking for! Log paper is very wet but dried enough with a tissue to enter on.

A quick and easy puzzle cache for those in a rush. Follow the directions at the bottom of the description and not the roads! Once you get to 330m it should be easy to find. The logbook inside is weather-proof paper, but was quite wet when we found this log despite no rain today. TFTC!
What a great mystery and little history tour. I drive through almost everyday and never realised galaxo started out here !!! Log was wet but have dried out as best I could - my pen was prob the wrong type for the paper so I hope our log stays put. I replaced as I found - hopefully it's where is supposed to be.
As I walked through here a couple of days ago I wondered if there was a cache hidden nearby. Sure enough... Thanks for the simple puzzle and the nicely hidden cache, edvern.
Thanks for the puzzle edvern!
I must have been a bonny baby once as I walked straight to it... Thanks for setting an easy puzzle which lured me out of the city Nice being first to sign the new waterproof log

A bit of late morning caching with family. Didn't find Glaxo sign & we looked a little conspicuous near main road, but soon worked out which pathway to head to. Clever idea. Log full & needs replacing. TFTC.
Have missed this one on a few previous attempts so good to be able to complete today. TFTC, #6927
I sorted out just 2 caches, both non-traditional, to chase on the journey north last week, with a view to solving the puzzles during the holiday and then looking for the actual caches on the trip back home.
Glaxo has a special family relevance in that my mother ran out of Glaxo milk powder not long into our journey on the ship 'Remuera' from Auckland to Florida in August/September 1963. While ashore at Kingston, Jamaica I spotted a Glaxo sign and Mum was able to stock up with enough for the rest of the trip. It was a big deal at the time because my then 3-month old sister didn't seem to be able to keep down the milk formula stocked on the ship.
Until spotting this cache description, I had no idea of the background to the Glaxo brand and its humble beginnings in what is now such a small rural settlement, especially given how the brand has since grown internationally into such a large pharmaceutical company.
We stopped and had lunch near the factory site and I did a bit of a walkabout trying to sort out where the walkway would be, initially thinking it should be very nearby. During the week away, I read the description again more carefully, knowing the lay of the land at the given co-ordinates. As a result, the search for both the walkway and the hint object were revealed. I liked it that neither the location nor the hint object were what I initially expected. Full marks, Edvern, for a worthy cache location and an interesting and really well thought-out cache. It easily earns a favourite point from me.

Sorry Edvern, it looks like I'm unable to assign a favourite point as a Basic Member so I'll have to do it once I renew my Premium membership.
I found this one on a Sunday afternoon drive to clean up some puzzles I had sitting on my solved list. It ended up being a trip to get 2 Traditionals, 2 Multis, 2 Traditionals and then 2 puzzles (I only noticed this pattern as I came to log them). So I still have a lot of solved puzzles left for another puzzle Sunday afternoon.
A quick find using the hint. Thanks
A quick find using the hint. Thanks
I had found a cache just along the road and when I saw this one close by I didn't realise at first that it wasn't a traditional cache. However it was easy to solve in situ using the GPSr and the cache was a quick find at GZ. Thanks for the cache and for showing me this spot, I rarely come this way and had never realised that the original Glaxo factory was here.
Tftc. Was looking at the wrong tree to start with but finally got there in the end. 13/4/14
Found on our Waitangi Day caching journey into the Manawatu today. Enjoyed our short visit to Bunnythorpe today. TFTC
Found this just after another pair of cache hunters:) tftc we were a bit stuck under the wrong tree for a while!
Plan A didn't work too well as my projection was a little out in terms of the direction. However, we ended up in the right sort of location and I was able to employ Plan B to determine our distance from the starting point. The cache was quickly located once we identified the hint object. This was a nice little walk with Netty and our wee puppy, Biddy.
Spent a bit of time figuring out how to use my new gps but seemed to work pretty well with this one...got reasonably close and used the hint to find the cache.
After some minor compass issues (how north IS north) I found the cache nice and quickly. Tftc!

My mega NZ MEGA 2013 Trip!! Split into two halves - first, the journey up, and then the second half was the actual MEGA time.
This was the first half. I ended up deciding that the best way to travel up for the MEGA was by doing a rental relocation. Jucy had FAR too many cars in Chch that needed going to Auckland, and so with the pick of the crop I went for the 4WD... naturally, being a cacher, I knew this would come in handy!
They paid the vehicle on the ferry, paid the insurance, and gave me a free tank of gas as well as 5 days to get up to Auckland! What more could you want?!!
This was my 174th cache of the trip.
Sorry about the mostly copied logs - but otherwise I would still be logging till Christmas - and that's Christmas 2014 I mean! Haha.
Nice and quick projection

For some reason I was looking for road cones.

Confession - no way seemed like an obvious north direction so headed the most obvious way. Wrong. After some reorientation we finally had the cache in hand. Thanks
Had attempted this one a few weeks before but were unable to complete due to a muggle training his dog near the GZ. Worked out a set of coordinates from the bearing and distance so was a quick find this afternoon.
Time to be heading North after a long Short week away from home and just enough time to collect a few caches

2nd find for 2013. Was out caching after a few months off due to a broken leg. Showing family the way of our sport. A nice hide on a quiet walkway. Good to be out on the hunt again. Thanks for the cache
Drove around a little until I found an area that looked like it could have a walking path through it and with the help of the hint walked straight to GZ.
