It was a bit rainy today, but I needed some finds for my calendar loops.
I looked around all the flax bushes which was totally fruitless. I finally read a previous log and then found the cache. TFTC.

A nice grassy picknick area. Found the cache at 8 m from GZ in a tree at knee height. Thanks for showing us this place.
First find of the day. Coords a little bit shaky, and a bit deep in leaf litter. Found ok though, and it’s onwards we go. TFTC B&W.
Driving home to Blenheim, and of course we are still taking the SH63 route (although SH6 is open in a few hours), so it’s over the Spooners I go.
The main goal was the Ad Lab at Coronation Forest, but I get there and the road is closed.
A quick decision needed then on whether or not I break the rules and plough on regardless, or heed them and find something else to do.
It’s the latter, and I decide to head out to Glenhope and back home on an exaggerated loop that takes me past a few caches I have yet to find.
Good fun, good weather (mostly) and great success as Borat would say. Thanks all COs.

Another wee cross country jaunt for the geo mobile.
The third day of our road road trip and we are having lots of laughs, hunting hard and signing logs. Signed NE as I am caching with Nosynel. TFTC and apologies for the generic log.

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](http://nzmega.com) - you won't want to miss it!

Last one in this reserve. We stayed another night atGreymouth. Look out my friend Ethness is in town. We are back to DoubleTrouble. We are driving from Greymouth to Nelson today. Thanks bumandworker for placing this geocache it is find 8254 for me.
Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.

My GPS would not settle down it was all over the place it took over 15 minutes to finally settle down enough so that I could find the cache
Despite the rain I had a good time down here so I'am planning on coming back down to the South Island in December 2020 or in the following January and this time I will spend at least two weeks down here so that I can take my time and see more of the sights and of course get a lot more caches
I'm down here in the Mainland the last time I was here was back in the late 70s visiting my cousin for the school holidays
This time I'm down here to two reasons.
Reason one is to visit a friend who has come up and visited me and Scoria on numerours occasions. Both Scocia and I have said they we both would come down and visit him many times but we never got round to it and now that scoria is marred it is less likely that we well both get down there at the same time to visit our friend. So I decide not to put it off any longer, so I called him up and arrange to come down to the Mainland for a visit.
Reason two is to get geocaches in the following four regions Marlborough, Canterbury, West coast, Tasman and Nelson targeting Mailbox Virtual and trying to get at least one cache that start with the following letter in each of the four mention regions these letter are A E I L O R T V this letters will allow me to finish off the cache The Spelling Challenge #5: New Zealand (Manawatu) GC5GQVY and any other caches that I collect will be a welcome bonus
Blackie the Sheep
Blackie is a work mascot that likes to travel so when one of us workers goes on a holiday he likes to tag along and have his photo taken at the various place that we visit .
Thanks for the cache

I had parked my snail shell up in Murchison yesterday and noticed that there were a few caches on a back road to St Arnaud that I hadn't travelled.
A nice place beside the road.
Cheers for the cache.

Another drive through the Lewis Pass between Takaka and Christchurch, this time heading back south after a short trip home to spend time with family. The plan for today was to knock over a whole lot of caches in the northern end of the drive. I was also pleased to be able to get a smiley for a few caches that have left me stumped previously. Started off a sunny day, looked to be great for driving, but the rain started somewhere north of Springs Junction and didn't end up stopping. Expanded my search to a place I hadn't checked on any of my other visits and found the cache pretty easily . TFTC (3272)
Headed out with a list of caches and a map for an afternoon of caching and to introduce a new cacher to this activity. Although we've been past this rest area numerous times, we have never had a reason to stop until now. Cache was found and signed off.
A last minute weekend away to bait off pre-winter cabin fever. We had been here before with Dad and furpurse in 2012 and got within a couple hundred metres. Today we were more determined to explore further and get this cache off the radar before it went on the ignore list. We headed up the upper Rd first and saw the road below so we drove around and parked the car at the top of the rise and wandered down to GZ. If you REALLY needed the toilet here better makes sure your not too modest as the door is lying on the ground in front. (Someone needed to go so bad they blew it off the hinge!) Mum went down the bank to investigate the cache title while I stayed up top and said - Oh! here it is. Glad this one has now been ticked off. Thanks for the cache
We're visiting from Florida, USA. That was great fun. Thanks for placing the cache.
Feeling somewhat intimidated by the man in the nearby campervan, I did not search well and for long.
Got into a fight with the fence when returning to the car; I won, but the fence did put up a good fight.

Not quite where we expected it but didn't take too long to spot, TFTC in this nice picnic area.
NZDi and I had planned a two day caching weekend with the original idea to cache from Blenheim to At Arnaud to Kawatiri Junction to Nelson on Friday, then cache around Nelson on Saturday. We decided this would be too ambitious and scaled it back and start from Kawatiri Junction and this was the sixteenth cache of the day.
Throughout the weekend our logs were signed Kiwimykl + NZDi or KM + ND or variations of the two with or without the date depending on the size of the space available and / or the particular logging requirements of the CO.
After a few days rain the conditions were not conducive to making this a PnG, so we parked the geomobile somewhere that we could escape from without a tow and made a short walk to GZ. NZDi agrees this is not a flax (whew). The cache was soon found after a quick search.

Thus we had time for some few caches.

6557. Off on a camping/geocaching holiday to Nelson. Day two was from Murchison to Tahuna This was our twentieth stop for the day. Found after a short search once the GPS had settled. No sign of any ornamental flax in the vicinity of the container! Lots of stopping areas along this stretch of the road. Thanks for the cache. Rodney and Iris.
Pulled off her for a quick nap in our camper van. We are turning around the South Island and really enjoying ourselves; caching and sightseeing! After a nap I ventured out to find the cache. Had to cross a muddy creek and got my shoes wet, but that's all part of the adventure. The toilet near the GZ is in bad repair and I am glad I didn't need it! Cache is in great shape! TFTC and greetings from California!
Took some searching but GPS soon settled and cache in hand. Grass needs cutting mind!! Cheers BW
A plan was hatched to try and grab a number of caches, in excess of 120 if possible. I had already found a load between Renwick and St Arnaud but consulting the map around St Arnaud area showed some semi power trail drive by caching opportunities. Fellow Manawatu cacher the Seagnoid was asked if he was interested and a resounding yes was the answer. So the car was fuelled up at very early o'clock and provisions for munching were also loaded. An 0630 start was the plan and the day came to its conclusion around 2130 after approx. 15 hours of driving and caching.
Outcome was a very successful figure in excess of 130 caches which constitutes best day ever (for both of us), best week, month and year too. Over 500kms driven today and man I feel tired but need to make a start logging the finds, and DNFs. Thanks to all the C Os involved in making our day such a great one. Nearly all caches were well maintained, interesting and accurately plotted. There were bellbirds, beech trees, pies and water, sealed roads, gravel tracks, no sandflies (thankfully), rivers and bridges and creeks and bridges and streams and bridges and much conversation about all things caching
A great day out in good company and all made possible by the efforts of the hiders.
T F T C to all the cache owners. We mostly signed as C/S or Capp/Seag or other combos
Hard to find this one, hint not really accurate to the hide

[green] Capperz called me up saying he wanted to get his ruby Busy Cacher badge, and try for 120 caches in a day. I said YES PLEASEE!!, as I too had tried this once before but only achieved 103 before night defeated me and Edvern in Auckland last year. A successful day, with over 130 caches found in 14.5 hours and 500km. Also tiring - I went to bed as soon as I got home, despite it not being dark yet (yes, we could have cached some more, but the next objective is 180 caches, and there was no way we would have achieved that!). Alas, I had to leave all the planning to Capperz, and he produced a great little plan, listing all the target caches (and more) with which way to turn at next intersection after a cache - a great way to plan a back road travel.
The day was cool, cloudy, with a little drizzle. Perfect caching weather - the weather kept most of the muggles away from the muggle areas.
Thanks to all the COs for a great day out exploring the back roads of the Marlborough region!
Logs signed as CS or occasionally as CapSeag.
Spent ages on this, even going half way and all the way down the bank, despite the terrain rating. Capperz and I had actually given up, and were walking back to the car (trying to do 120 today, can't afford a half hour search) when I tried one last place - and found it. It was the coords and hint that threw us off, neither seem to describe the cache (okay, coords are with 10m, so not too bad, but they did point down the hill).

On a big mission up to Nelson over Show Weekend with Purdiepurdie, Karma Reprint and Team_Gaters we signed our cache finds as PKTT the 'power packet' but we called ourselves the 'G4'. We headed off on Friday morning at 4.30am and made our way to Nelson today. We drove heaps, laughed heaps, found heaps of caches and poke our noses here and there. It was a great day we didn't stop until about 9.30pm for a cuppa and relax and getting ready to do it all again tomorrow!
Park n grab, we looked the wrong place to start with.
Thanks for the cache.

Canterbury Show Weekend so headed North to Nelson for a fun caching 3 day weekend with TheWanglers, Karma Reprint & Purdiepurdie......for speed, efficiency & to prevent RSI we signed our logs PKTT.
With TW's truck we were able to get right up to GZ...searched the wrong spot initially before zeroing in and making the find. Quaint spot. Cheers.

TFTC. Out to play for the weekend with the destination of Nelson. Caching crew on board were Karma Reprint, Team_Gaters and TheWanglers, logged as PKTT for this trip. Gosh did we have fun looking for caches, most of which we found, in this very beautiful part of our country.
A quick park and grab on the road to Nelson, once we decided which side of the road to look at!

This was one of the most epic weeks ever, and definitely my most epic caching week ever.
Me and mum headed up on a holiday north to Nelson and very wider surrounds. In total during the trip, we found almost 500 caches! (470 odd I think, but final results are yet to be in! ) We covered about 3000 odd km I think too. Crazy! And had our absolute best caching day ever too at 160 found. Spend 9 days travelling, caching, and having the best time ever!!
So sorry about not so epic logs, as otherwise this would probably take me the rest of my life to log, especially with two big events to organise coming up! Eeek!!
Almost every single log we signed as 'Team Polak' to avoid needing to write out both usernames taking up space on logsheet - as well as precious caching time!! Haha.
Consec caching day # 703

For the sake of sanity we set off with sonia26642 for a crazy geocaching trip, aiming to cache until we drop. The main destination was Nelson and the ‘surrounding’ area, but then we ended up covering a few miles in three northernmost regions, plus a few in Canterbury. We were signing/stamping the log as 'Team Polak' or ‘TP’ for the two of us on this trip to save logbook space. We found a lot of different caches, city ones, road side, park side, up a hill and on an island, and we enjoyed every single one of them. It was good to be a professional thingfinder for a few days!
Taking it a bit easy after yesterday’s big effort finding 153 caches
We had great fun and are grateful to all CO’s who placed caches for us to find, and help restore our sanity before returning to our other non-geocaching lives!!

Not sure about the hint or why we had so much trouble with this one last time but found it this time.
I was surprised to see a dungy here. Hope that is the right word. Anyway it had no door and I was thinking about how I was told in Australia some one was supposed to have been bitten by a spider on one of those. The coords were good so got it TFTC

My first DNF out of 23 caches today.
I put it down to a lack of light, cellphone rather than torch, plus I only had the most recent logs to refer to, which wasn't much help as they all bragged about it being an easy find!
Gave up when the blackberries had got their pound of flesh.

On the way home after a productive caching day we couldn't resist. GPS led the way and the last blank bit on the log was signed. Left replacement. TFTC
No problem with this find, GPS led us straight to it. Log full so we left a replacement one with a snaplock bag. TFTC.
Well. I was as Steve Hansen so eloquently put it ready to “flush the dunny and move on”. After a good 20 minutes looking high and low I was ready to give up.
Then something caught my eye and it was found. I am as always, in complete awe of those cachers who make a quick find in the first place that they look. TFTC

I drove south today from Nelson to the Glaciers. It was a very sunny and bright day and I enjoyed the ride very much. I drove through wonderful landscape that could be put on postcards and I visiting many interesting places along the way. This is also due to the caches I have found, this being one of them. Each cache made my journey ever more pleasant! A big thank you to all owners!

I started looking by the loo too. It seemed like the obvious place!. TFTC. Found while on the way to Murchison kayaking for the long weekend.
Was worried it was the loo. The flax we did find with the cache was however covered in a tree that ha fallen. Hard to spot in the dark.
10/09/12 11:35 AM Find #1269 This was a muddy approach and quite boggy but the 4WD made it all easy and then I found the cache. Thanks Bumandworker.
A quick stop on the way to Nelson, had a few picnics in this area on trips north and south. TNLN Thanks
Flaxes always fill me with terror, but no worries here. A good spot to stop, well off the road.
Did notice the picnic table as we drove further south. What the? It seemed to be placed halfway between 2 separate picnic spots.

Must have come in the wrong way cos trees blocked every path and we didnt want to get wet going down the ditch where the GPS was pointing. Didnt want to waste too much time cos we had alot planned before get to Nelson.

I thought this may have been missing in action but pleased to report alls good and its still in its hiding place the tree is not a problem and is rotting away nicely good old nature taking care of things again
sounds like this maybe a "D4" untill we can check or move it, must still be there under the tree !
Couldn't find this one yesterday. There's a fallen tree nearby the toilet and the coords are in the middle of the fallen tree. Might want to check on the cache?

The dogs were most appreciative of the chance too frolick about for awhile whilst there mad owners searched around for little boxes (am sure that they have serious doubts about our sanity but they are still first back in the vehicle to hit the road to the next one). Thanks for the placement (Buster, Blaf and Poochin thank you too!)

A quick find on the way south today. Looked around the nearby structure at first but found nothing but rubbish. Then spotted the correct item, slightly out of place around here. Signed log, TFTC.
Easy find, lucky I didnt need to use the facilities. Door need a couple of hinges still. TFTC
Our third trip past here since the cache was established, so thought we had better stop and find it.
Yep! A quick drive by-ish. There is actually a tree pretty much fallen down on the flax. TFTC
