With the help of May entry found, cache dry but has been wet and notebook rusty. Tftc
Out for a central north island mission with Reschedule. Circling around Ruapehu today. Find 2 of the day.TFTC
Nice day to visit but ramp was just too busy to head into the bush where logs mention this to be . Next time
Today is one of a handful of days that I havent found a cache on, but thankfully now I have. Only one boater at GZ and they were nowhere to be seen. Cache log is damp, but still writable. Some great views of Mt Tongariro as I left the area heading back to SH47.One more smiley face on my map. Thanks for the cache.
First time around this area and showing my gf around my home country.
A quick detour from the main road to grab this one.
GF was amazed by the logging works around the area.
Thanks

Found in the bush, not as per the clue, but better location so slightly hidden away from public eyes
March has been such a busy month, but not so much with getting out and about to indulge in finding some caches for myself. So what better way to remedy this than have a few days away in an area not previously cached out?
Cue a weekend of touring around the Tongariro National Park in good company. Exactly what I needed, and a weekend that would see me find over a hundred caches, including getting my 4000th, as well as grabbing some of the new PWGT caches.
I knew this would be a long day, both starting and finishing in the dark, but I hadn't quite expected to be out caching for 16 hours straight lol. But it was a very productive and interesting day, so it was all worth it in the end.
It was mid afternoon by now, and we had done loads, but still had enough energy to keep going. We weren't initially sure how easy it would be to get to this cache, but in the end it was a doddle. Once at GZ, we thought it would be an easy find in accordance with the Hint, but after many minutes of battling with the cutty grass we widened our search and my mate found the cache some 5m away from the sign.
Encountering no issues with the container or the contents, the log was quickly signed and the whole thing replaced exactly as found.
Thanks for setting up and maintaining this cache.

#8889. I was travelling north to Auckland today after spending the night in Ohakune. After doing some caches up on the slopes of Ruapehu, I diverted down this road to check out The O. I have only visited this lake once before and it was from the other access road. Today it was popular with boaties but the carpark was quiet. Great birdwatching from the shoreline. The cache took a while to track down as I followed the hint and checked everywhere without success. Read a few recent logs and shifted my searching to the base of trees. Soon enough the cache was in hand. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Thanks Technokitten for hiding it here. Great spot for a cache.
Due to Covid, our planned UK holiday to attend the MEGA could not proceed so plan B was a timeshare stay in Paihia so we could cache around Northland. Once again this could not proceed as we could not travel through Auckland due to the Level 3 lockdown.
A last minute plan C was put into action and our timeshare week was transferred to Turangi.
Off we went on a sunny but chilly 4 deg morning and its been quite a while since we have seen any frost on the ground so a bit of a novelty for us.
Searched around and soon spotted the hide, great view of the mountains today TFTC.

Wow. The cutty grass grows fast! We found and left the cache under the tree, not where the hint says. There's a fair amount of toilet paper behind the cutty grass, cacher beware. Found with our 3 and 6 y.o. Thank you Technokitten for making us stop here.
Arrived at the car park, two cars and trailers parked up. The muggles out on the water catching fish
We had our own fishing to do, and overshot the hide, but on turning back, spotted the cache hugging the plant.
Retrieved and log signed. All good here, and full of sway! thanks again Technokitten for your hides from all those years ago.

Took a while to locate this one. We were pleased we had the place to ourselves. Got there in the end. tftc
o! After a wet, cold and windy (but successful!) attempt at summiting Mt Tongariro yesterday, sveppi and I stayed at Mangahuia campsite overnight. Woke up to a frost. Since we are tenting we are up quite early and have all day to make it home. So we decide to grab a few caches along the way, including this lot that have been taunting me on the map for many years.
This one is more of a Did Not Attempt rather than DNF. A family in a van was parked within 10m of the cache, pointing and staring straight at GZ. We enjoyed the view of the lake, took a few pictures, and went on our way. Guess we'll have to come back.

Had to wait as some Sir Ed Hillary teenage students got some tuition in paddling a Canadian canoe and once they headed off towards the bridge and canal a quiet chance to look for cache. Beautiful day for the students to be out on the water. TFTC
Searched for a while and decided the cutty grass was too unfriendly so went away to the nearby place where we were staying Then discovered my lure box had fallen from my pocket! So back we go and found both lure box and cache So double reward All safe and dry TFTC
doing a clean up of caches this way that I have been wanting to do for a little while, as we needed to pick up kaleb a day trip was the perfect time, started out at 7.30am and got home about 8pm one thing us geocachers understand is that is it is never a quick trip when there is caching involved, thanks for the placement sorry about the copy and paste logs but it was getting hard to remember some of them. thanks for the placement we have enjoyed stopping at every single one.
I was ready to give up on this one as I had been hunting for ages, then I spotted it how I missed it the first 10 times I dont know

Day 2 of Mega - Geocaching Adventure
Teamed up with HKCB to tackle a few out of the way caches around the mountains, plus a few Lab caches on the way.
An amazing day, a not too early start, already had an event plus the sun is shinning. Perfect caching conditions! After driving to get some information for the Labs we headed back this way to start finding some 'real' caches.
A neat little lake that was very busy. Took the hint too literally and was struggling to find it when some one called out I was in the right area! Just needed to expand my search area. Thanks for the cache and thanks for bringing us here

Day 2 of Mega 2016!
Today's goal was to head around the mountain to find the Lab caches as well as the caches up the Western side of the mountains, again like yesterday focusing more on the caches a little more off the beaten track than on the side of the road. Again teamed up with 11HPG11 for today's mission!
Took the hint a little bit to literally, and after a quick search still hadn't found it. A nearby family guessed what we were doing and said that we were in the right spot. Had another look and found it a few meters away.

Last one of the day, quite a few boaties about but they were heading home so we managed to sneak in, log and get out prior to too much attention. All in good order.
A quick find with TregearP whilst out and about during the 2016 Mega in Turangi this weekend.
Pretty busy at the GZ, but with a DSLR camera in hand we were able to conduct a bit of a ruse to enable the cache to be found. The last log entry helped it being a quick find else I suspect it could well have taken us quite a bit longer.
All in good order, TNLNSL, TFTC.

Myself, Philip Perry and Davidson clan teamed up once again to tackle as many caches around the mountain as we could during our visit to the Mega.
Another interesting place I never knew existed. Looks like a few elephants have been through here. I hope the vegetation recovers after all the recent activity.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Found while checking out places with willbuild, bumped into didymo Dave (his name is honoured by another cache)
Out on a trip around the mountain doing a lab cache and picking up extra caches as we go. Took awhile to this one but after reading some of the logs we managed to spot it. Beautiful spot TFTC
With Gap (of Fap and Gap), NZFlossy, ABCDF4, and eyespyben... In Turangi to attend the New Zealand Geocaching Adventure 2016 event...
Saturday: This one gave us a bit of a scare as we only saw cutty-grass... After a lengthy search, we decided to consult the found logs, and some of the notes were more than helpful. One of the team found this sneaky hide, a lot further from the hint than we expected. TFTC.

I was down in Turangi for the Mega this weekend. I teamed up with Philip.Perry and Tnxpro for most of the weekend we signed the log sheets Team BOP. Saturday we decided we needed to drive around Ruapehu today to get all the lab caches and stopped to get as many other caches we could on our travels. This part of the country is absolutely spectacular really enjoyed our time here over the weekend.
Team B.O.P. have made it to the 2016 NZ MEGA in Turangi and today is day #2. TNXPro, Davidson clan and myself have joined forces and today we're off around the mountain for the lab caches and any others that cross our path. This cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords, a good hint and a straight forward placement. Cheers technokitten, a spectacular piece of country side although it was obvious that previous cachers have had trouble on this one - TFTC
We went to the sign and located the device for keeping the cache in place...but no cache. This needs the CO's urgent attention.A beautiful lake, thanks for bringing us here!
Thanks Technokitten great to come across one of your camobags again. Many cars with boat trailers parked but all the owners out on the Lake, then we noticed a fisherman just the other side of the bushes by the cache. Fortunately he was packing up so we didn't have to wait too long.
Thankfully made a quick find as peeeuw something in the area was a bit odiferous ... but Thanks for the cache! It was nice to discover & learn about this lake & interesting to see the weed traps ? For the 1st time...
We came out to The O this afternoon for a quick look around. This cache took us a little while to locate, as it was a little further away from the hint item than we were expecting. TFTC.
Found it, TFTC

It seemed as though I was looking for this cache with my eyes closed as I managed to walk right past the cache a couple of times . Just when I was thinking 'ugh, I can't find it' I managed to trip over it .
A bit of a cold, overcast day but that hasn't stopped a couple of hardy souls getting their boats out. Glad they were on the water for my visit.

I brought my fly fishing gear, but I'm headed for the rivers down below. Too weedy along the shorelines for me--with my luck I'd be dredging up plants all day long. Cheers for the cache.
Easy find, Paua ventured into the bushes to locate the cache while I distracted a local fisherman. TFTC.
Nice find on a bit of a geocaching trip to the north.
Great weather and some good caches

A quick easy find, in a more obvious location than we expected. There were a number of vehicles and boat trailers parked nearby, but only one muggle in the area. TFTC
Went on our biggest cache hunt yet today with my 4-year old son. Looked for 11 and found all of them. This was the eighth of the day. Left a USA penny.
Amazing day fishing. Some good fish putting up a fight! Thanks for the cache.
Down to the mountains for the weekend with NovaLightning, what a beautiful spot and great cache, TFTC
Temporary cache in place thanks to "butternut"
Thanks so much for the thought will return loan cache later by post.

Came on a mission to this great place. Found the cache hide easily - well positioned. Got out the sticks and poked and prodded the cutty grass just below and beyond GZ without luck.
So since we had some replacements caches with us, popped in a one litre sistema with the usual log, pencil etc. Apologies, we had run out of stash notes though.
A wonderful scenic lake and a good cache location. thanks

Cache has indeed been muggled, no worries will replace next weekend. A great excuse to nip over the hill and "bother" the fish.
"O" no it maybe gone!
Everything going to plan here a 1/1 cache and I can't find it.
The retainer was there but no container.

Thanks for the cache.
Nicely placed cache and a great diversion as we travelled back to pick up the boys of the team from the Tongariro Crossing. TFTC
Thanks for another. Our Heretaunga Tramping Club party from Hawkes Bay were staying at the Mangatepopo School Camp. The whole day of pouring rain made a few of us stir-crazy, so went for a short drive to see the lake.
a successful day both caching and fishing here on Saturday. Found while I was waiting to launch the boat.

Quick find after waiting for muggle fisherman to launch their boat into the lake which they said had risen two feet in a day after a torrential day of rain. TNLN. TFTC
There were lots of cars around today but all the muggles were out in their boats or waist deep in water trying to catch 'the big one'!! Easy find. Beautiful location!

Stopped by during a stay at Tongariro; what a beautiful area of NZ! Thanks for bringing us to this lovely spot - we're always amazed by the natural beauty of this country. Picked up Mr. Winner TB. TFTC!
XC down in Turangi for another weekend. Decided to take the truck for a run and knock off TK's new caches at the same time. So we piled into the biggest caching machine in NZ and drove over the hill. TK put this cache down while I was in Aus..
Parked the truck nearby next to the boat trailers.. Located the cache while TK was getting lunch ready... A beautiful spot.
I swapped trackables.

An early rise out of bed to go up to the Big O. What a gorgeous morning, cloudless sky and not a breath of wind. As we drove over the saddle the stunning view of Tongariro beneath a slither of icy snow and a hazy mist hanging over Rotoaira greets us, ....what a beautiful part of the country we live in.
Otamangakau is like a mill pond, glassy calm and very quiet. Quickly found the cache and discovered another FTF.
We left Gingy TB to enjoy this beautiful peaceful spot. Thanks for the cache in one of our favourite places and thanks for getting us up so early to enjoy it. TFTC.
Beaten by Punga & Paua again... (well done guys!).
Just happened to be working there, taking a group canoeing today.
Easy find with the group helping. Hopefully have inspired some more people to become geocachers.
Thanks.
