After we had finished at the WWFMXII event in Berwick, sedgwickDave and I decided since we were here and the weather was so nice, to head back to the peninsula to find some of the random caches around followed by some more of the Bay Trail Unleashed.
This one had been on the to do list for a while, but we had just never been close enough to go get it. upon arrival at GZ, dave noticed it was not in his GPS, I refreshed my page and realised it had been archived... We went to check it out anyway and before too long, Dave had located and retrieved the container. Not sure why it was archived, still definitely find-able and lots of space in the log sheet for more.

We looked in the most obvious places but couldn't find it. Fairly confident we found where it would have been from the clues - 'watch out'. May have been dislodged with road works?
A quick glance and we missed the prize. Looked in other places and then moved back to the most likely location for a cache to be located and sure enough it was as easy as the terrain rating said it would be. TFTC
Ah yes, road-works. Never let a little matter like road-blocks stop us. We sneaked around the the back roads and then past the main road-block - which is what the locals do anyway to get to their homes - to get to the GZ and soon had the cache in hand. Mind you though, I reckon the cache may soon be history as the bridge may be upgraded and the nearby tree has been marked for removal. Get it while you can! (And not on a working day otherwise you may get told to, er, get out from the wrong side of the road-block.)

Despite all the work going on around here we managed to find it without too much trouble.

I will check on this cache in early December when the road works have been completed. I won't disable it as it is probably still there and just requires a bit of a hike to get to it.
Tried to get this cache but found that all the road access was closed for works, too wet and muddy for our current dress code to try on foot so, no joy, might need to be checked once the works are done to ensure that the spawn is still in it's place.
Major road works around this cache, road is closed until Dec according to the signs. Not sure of the caches proximity to the road but it might need checking to ensure it is safe. Maybe archiving for the works duration?
We like travelling this road to avoid the tourists, but it seems to have become quite a busy little road, maybe GPS units in nearly every car are to blame. Found the cache with no problems except for the mud.

Out and about with Liz & Bruce, we had a late start to our caching today, as we had been experimenting with and exploring some of the possibilities of the software demonstrated at the Maker Madness Event.
GPS'r was initially all over the place and there were a few eye catching possibilities. We all eventually merged to the one area and P-P put his hand on it.
TNLN .. . . . SL . . Thanks to -Lisette- for the hunt.

Out with Phetlerns today in a lovely part of Victoria. We have visited this area once before with Phetlerns but still plenty of caches for us to seek to get a smiley. This was one we targetted and found. Nice one. Thanks to -Lisette-.
Found @ 8:40pm, find # 2949.
I met up with biggles1024 down on the peninsula to find a few unfounded caches, this being one of them.
We arrived at this and thought that it was going to be a quick park and grab, as we were pretty sure we knew what we were looking for after finding a few other in the Spawn series. We started to look around but we weren't finding it, we waited for a car to pass by and started searching again, eventually Mark found this little sucker in a place I had already had a look at, obviously not well enough.
Thanks to -Lisette- and Sikma for placing this cache.

Find #899
This one gave Steve and I some trouble. We'd both found a few of the Spawn series and so knew what to look for, but GPSr reception was quite poor in this area. Thankfully only one muggle drove past and shortly after, the hide was spotted. SL TFTC

Quick find getting dark and dismal we may end up getting a tad wet on this caching raid. Tftc
Wonder if there are any trout in here. Not to hard to find road very quiet today. Thanks Walenators and Sikma FTC.
Spent some time attempting to find cache in between avoiding muggle traffic. Log retrieved, signed, replaced and hide restored. TFTC.
After lunch with Meg&Roy at a nearby winery/ restaurant, we convinced them that we needed their help just down the road. However it was Mrs LZZ at 15:30 who had the cache in hand. TFTC and on to another winery.
We decided a Super Saturday was in order, and not the usual ones we participate in like watching three games of rugby league in one sitting. Trent had previously worked out all the co ordinates for the Jack Speak series, so it was a trip down the peninsular to Finders grabbing plenty of caches on the way. We then made our way up to Red Hill then across to Dromana, before heading back to grab the final of the Jack Speak series before heading home to watch the mighty Melbourne Storm play the South Sydney Rabbitohs. We managed a whopping 45 caches which has beaten our record in a day!!
After finishing a 50 minute trek to grab One Tree Fern Gully, it was a pleasure to find this park and grab. We pulled up on the side of the road past the bridge and walked back to GZ. Katy spotting a likely geo trail rushed past, whilst Trent made the find. Katy sheepishly signed the log and returned it. For a small windy dirt road it is pretty busy!!
Thanks for the cache walenators.

Found with Hearse068 Thing No1 Thing No2 and my geo partner/taxi driver. GPS and Iphone were all over the shop here today and the car muggles made a couple of appearances as well. Lucky for us it didn't take Hearse068 to long to find this one. Now we are off to find the Final in your series. TFTC Lisa and Wal

Pick this up on a peninsula cache run with Datruk. We arrived at this cache and spotted two people carrying around mobile phones . After looking asking if they had "found it yet" we introduced ourselves and all started searching together. Datruk made a quick find, we all signed the log and then stood around and talked to Merann from Northern Ireland. It is always good to catch up with fellow cachers from other countries. Pointed them towards some worthwhile caches and then we were all on our way. Thanks for the cache and the chance to meet fellow cachers.
Need some time out so went caching with Team_coxy

We had just arrived on the scene and were about to begin the search when we heard a car pull up behind ours and the words "have you found it yet" ring out, it was Datruk and Team Coxy, nice to meet our first Aussie cachers in the field, we had a good geochat and then went our separate ways. Very busy road but Datruk made a quick find on the cache and we all signed the log.

Find #624 logged at GZ at 15:09, while on my way to a local craft brewery after visiting friends down the road. A terrific little spot, but not sure yet what it's about. T4TC walenators and Sikma!
Well I found this one in no time at all. It felt like a pretty exposed position so I was happy that it was over with quickly. Lots of traffic for a dirt road.
Took me longer to find than I would have liked... Sheesh! Need to open my eyes! Lots of cars... TFTC
Nice easy find with little Mister Geokid. Had a couple of hours to cache and was heading to Flinders when Geoboy suggested we get this one.

Well the nuvi navigator just happen to route through this road en route to the maze, the the first time past there were workmen fixing up the road.
On the way back it was clear and after a little search on confirming the size I found the cache
Signed the log in the car and replace it.
Thanks

A pretty drive on our way to Pier 10 winery, decided to do a few caches on the way. Stopped for this one and then GPS faded out so resorted to caching looking and managed to find. Surprising the amount of traffic driving past.
On the way to the strawberry farm, our full car of newbies stopped for this cache, luckily with success
Cheers!
Cheers!
On a mission today to finish all Walenator caches. Nice easy find, but cannot believe the amount of traffic on this out of the way road. Only 9 more to go. TFTC
We had no gps signal here which made it a bit of a wild goose chase! It was very muddy everywhere but after a long hunt we found it.. Where we had both looked twice already!! Brilliant hiding spot!
Gorgeous spot. Had to waste a few minutes so went after this one. Easy find but log is soaking wet. TFTC
Second attempt for us - much more successful than the first. We REALLY overcomplicated this one, contributed to by the failure of our iPhone GPS. Word of advice to anyone else - don't risk your life or chance falling into the river...NOT necessary! And the bridge REALLY does not look very stable from underneath, particularly when cars go overhead.
Amusingly, Zombiedog #3 was attacked by a leech after crashing around in the bushes, prompting laughs from ZD#1 who had been similarly attacked at the previous cache at One Fern Tree Gully.

Another Monday night and another caching run. I had my eyes set on a Diabolical cache down south so headed off in that direction. The weather was warm, and the walks were long, and the humidity in some areas high. Unfortunately the caching radar was off tonight so there quite a few DNF’s, but also some great moments, like the view from Bald Hill.
This one took way too long for us. We were surprised that a car passed over the structure as we were there. We had a bit of a rethink and after rechecking something we had looked at before we soon had the cache was in hand. We made this way too easy cache way too hard. Thanks Walenators.

This cache took a little while to find. We didn't read the logs below which gave a mighty good hint and would help narrow the search down. After much searching in the wrong area, I had a look in a place I had looked before but didn't search carefully and found the cache. TFTC walenators
EB MAx and I had been spending the last two days down here on / at a charity golf day event. I organise and play and he volunteers and helps out.
After a late finish last night, we had a leisurely breakfast and started making our way home. I promised EB Max that I would only do ONE cache on our trip and I am pretty sure he didn't believe me.
However, we were soon in the proximity of GZ and seeing as how my gpsr didn't want to turn on and play nice, I left it in the car, walked over and grabbed the cache.
Thanks Walenators for the very pretty drive in

The log is rather soggy, and I carefully managed to put my mark on a bit of pulp ...
We were a little worried when we pulled up alongside the GZ as it was decidedly muddy round and about and looked as though we could end up getting a bit messy. After doing a few circles while the GPS settled down leading us from one side of the road to the other and back again things started settle and we were drawn in the correct direction. Then our eyes were drawn to an item which looked very out of place and it was indeed the cache which appeared to have fallen from its original position. We signed the log and returned the cache to what we assumed would be its correct position and hopefully it stays put.

Well I suppose we killed the Spawn as we found the cache. Not a good day for this cache as the area was still quite muddy after the rain. Stopped twice to find GZ then the all good.
Spent a very long time on this one, regretfully have to log a DNF,
We looked down, we looked up, we looked everywhere, but apparently not in the right spot
we'll be back though,
Thanks Sikma and Walenators

11-06 1st find of the day at 13:05 and 1307th find in total.
Another Spawn cache, this time on a surprisingly busy dirt road.
We had fun sitting there watching cars come over the bridge in the centre of the road and being surprised by cars coming the other way.
(''\(OoO)/'') Thanks walenators for the caching fun!

As this was the first cache find for the day the gps had yet to be pulled out of the bag so I initially tried to find this cache with just an iPhone. HA HA HA how silly was I. Grabbed the gps and made a quick find. TFTC
After walenators and I attended the event at the end of Point Nepean and cleaned out some caches through that area, we cached on the way home so that I could get some more finds during my time here in Melbourne.
Last cache of the evening. After driving around in circles for a while as I forgot my torch at another walenators cache, we ended up here. Mr walenators explained the concept behind the spawn series, which is something that I may look into when I get home.
Pulling up at ground zero, the find was made easier by the fact that the car headlights lit up the area. Soon enough the cache was signed and returned and we headed home for a kip
thanks for the cache once more walenators

Found on a drive by, easily, in a lovely valley i have driven down many times. TFTC.
Decided to head out and do a few caches towards Flinders I hadn't done yet, including a couple of new ones. It was pretty cool down in te valley and the GPS was wandering around a bit, but l still managed to locate the cache in the second spot I looked. Glad to sign the log and be on my way. Thanks for the hide.
I read some of the logs prior to heading to GZ and wondered whether I should bother trying for this one. I had a lot of caches on my list, and I didn't want to spend too much time on any one cache. However, I did decide to give it a quick go, and I'm glad I did.
I parked the car, then followed my GPS. I had a quick look in one place, (just in case), and there it was. Sometimes you can be lucky, and this was my time. Thanks for the cache, and showing me this great area.

Well, I have spent probably 2 hours looking for this one. Stood in the creek getting wet feet, Layed in slime under the bridge, got ears full of dirt from cars driving over the bridge. Moved lots of leaves and branches, found leeches. where thinking how much I am not enjoyng this one, then found it. Somewhere I believe that it I had looked many times. But never from this angle.
I almost didn't get this one. When I got to the eastern end of Shands road it was closed for roadworks. So I drove around via the south and when I got to the other end about 10 minutes later it was closed there too. I was just re-setting the satnav to another cache when the guy on the roadblock says "they have finished, you can go through now". How good was that!
At GZ the cache was a quick find in a standard hide once the GPS settled. Thanks for the cache.

Unlike everyone else my gps was settled on the bridge but no find on, under or near, so a no find is the end result.
