Day 11 of my fortnight+ road trip up to Brisbane and back to Blue Mountains. A leisurely drive up. Avoiding GC power trails. Randomly driving to various spots that take my fancy. Geospouse Graubunden now with me for five days.A quick detour for this hide with favourite points already given. Partner got a shock. TFTC jasenjanine

Both Shazzar66 and I had been here before. As for me, there were numerous trucks and cars driving past, and the area was fairly overgrown with weeds.Shazzar66 and I had been at Ewen Maddock Dam finding Christmas tree caches, with Shazzar66 looking for some of the westerly caches here. After wed collected all the caches on the list, we still had a bit of time and so decided to grab a couple of caches between Landsborough and Caloundra that we hadnt found. This was first on our list. As we got out of our cars, we realised that the area around GZ had been maintained; there was fresh mulch and nothing else there. We were concerned that the cache may have disappeared. We looked in a couple of places where our GPS was pointing, but is kept moving, so we looked in a couple of other places. All of a sudden, I yelped in surprised. Id found the cache! It wasnt at all what I had expected, but thinking back, I should have looked there last time, and I thought I had, but I would have found this cache guardian, as he was staring at me!Yay. Now I can drive home from Brisbane and not be tormented by this unfound cache!A FP for the cuteness of the Cache Guardian. Thanks, jasenjanine, for the placement

Having now met up Duppers to do the Christmas tree series on this side of Ewan Maddock dam. We moved onto this one as we had both been here before. Thankfully this time council had done a cleanup. All the overgrown weeds have been replaced by some baby plants and a lot of mulch. Looks much better now.QIt was a quick find this time round thanks to Duppers, who just happened to look in the right place at right perspective. She did jump when she spotted it giving both of us a good laugh.I found your cache, Wildlife Walkway today. Signed with our team name, ShaDup.jasenjanine, TFTC, TFTH & TFTSF

Today I ventured north to CITO up a storm on the northern end of Bribie with Seffnjarah and Deznjez. We left a few hours early with the intention of collecting some interesting caches along the way.Lots of favourite points here and we were still a little early so we diverted off the main road to take a look. Whilst I checked out what I thought was likely spots, the cache, quickly which was spotted by the others, was staring right at me. Time for a swim at the beach. Well played jasenjanine. The guardian surprised me as I had seen similar (real one) at a previous location, and wondered! But it proved to be the cache. Log duly signed and cache replaced as found. Thanks jasenjanine for this most interesting cache.

Life has been so busy with the not-so-little TTs that I hardly find a chance to get out and cache for a whole day. But today was the day. Didnt take much to convince Chamad to come and hunt with me for the day. I signed a challenge long ago for a ludicrous number of caches needed in the Sunshine Coast. I think I still have about 400 to go. So, putting a tiny dent in this was the go-to. A 9 hr day and about 30 caches. Unfortunately a few dnfs, but although it felt like 50/50, luckily it wasnt. There were a few caches that were way above their terrain because the ground is so wet and slushy and sometimes even a big puddle was underfoot (actually more so overfoot!). It was so good to get out and play and be an adult only for the day. Hmmm maybe I have that wrong. A chance to stop being a responsible adult and a chance to be a kid doing immature and silly things. This cache affected Chamad more than me as he made the discovery. It became a team effort to see if gz was approachable. Have encountered a lot of scary caches in my travels, but this one was pretty bad. I would not have even continued looking for the cache if it wasn't for the bravery of Chamad.

Out for a day of Caching and catchup time with Triple turmoil today. The plan was to grab a few caches on the sunshine coast region. While I have completed my sunshine coast region challenge turns out triple turmoil has still a big ways to go, lol. So grabbing some of the new caches and some others in the area was the plan for today. I was mostly after a multi and a whereigo for the day, the rest were just as we were passing. As always it is a fun day with some great laughs and some concentrated toilet stops to add to the agenda. I think I may have gotten 22 caches and my buddy may have bagged 30 but who's counting. There were a few dnf's but that was expected due to some log reports. All in all it was a fun no pressure and an easy day. We got in a couple of difficult puzzle caches, a multi, a whereigo, some tree fishing and just the occasional troll, lol, loved the day thanks. We signed all logs and replaced as found thanks for the hides. If I could give 15 favourite points here I would. I have never been so taken in by a cache ever. This thing had me jumping, and Triple turmoil standing 5 metres away just in case, lol. Very well done. I peeled back the overgrown grass and vine and just caught a glimpse of the cache and immediately jumped back, was not expecting that. OMG. It took us a few minutes to see if it was real or not and even witht he cache in hand i was still trembling, very well done.

No luck for me. Im sure its in there somewhere, searched around a very overgrown log but couldn't find anything.

I couldn't venture in under the spiders, this kiwi girl just couldn't do it hahaha northy braved the long grass and still couldn't find it. Oh well, next time I guess. Back on the highway to find the next one. Thanks, very disappointed we couldn't find this one, from previous logs it sounds like it would've been a good one.

2.27pm

Second trip to the Sunshine Coast in a week, this time to pick up my caching bag from a kind workman who found it on a seat near a cache. Good detective work to locate me. (Now have contact details in the bag)

Interesting location and found a place to park off the road. Made my way to GZ where I was surprised by the cache container. Was not sure if it was real or not.. great cache so a favourite point from me.

Out for a day of caching with PirateLinda and we’ve chosen Bells Creek to start the day… such a cache rich area…

This was the first stop and it turned into a relatively quick find… despite knowing of previous finders exploits here, I still pulled up short…

So many times have i looked at this cache on my map.
It's long been the closest unfound cache to home, every now and then dislodged down the list with a new cache publication closer by.
Yet it always is there, mocking me with it's closeness.
Well today while out on the geobike riding around i thought why not this one finally.
Turns out what is just over five kilometres as the crow flies required forty eight for the round trip.

I was super impressed with the long distance wildlife walkway and i was truly scared the bejesus out of, these coupled with my mimicry deserves a favourite point.
Thanks jasenjanine for the heart thumping.

Caveman 9614 came for visit so we went for a jaunt out to find some local caches. I have been waiting for the overgrown walkway to get some TLC. After a slash, this one was easily found, and gave Caveman quite the heart starter! TFTC

First one in today's hunt.
Log 2/3 full but dry and good condition.

Caching with my main squeeze, Oddiewan.
We have been working long hours, one of us not for a grateful company, and so ran away for the weekend for some relaxation, sunshine, and a change of scenery.

We read the page for environmental notes since this site is quite intentional, glad we did so as not to disturb the natural objects more than necessary to get the cache. There were ants around but we did not make them angry retrieving and replacing the cache.

Thanks for the fun, jasenjanine

Wow we found this one quite quickly! Had to reach in where it can’t be seen and felt something what do you know it was the cache! Log signed and replaced as found. TFTC

Found GZ easy enough, but it was so overgrown I couldn’t even see the rocks & logs previously mentioned, so I was searching by feel. With no finds in 10 months, I was about to give up when I felt something ... & there it was. Very cute, very glad I’d found the cache and no real life bitey’s. Logs a little damp. Signed s_s. Def a cool cache & worth a FP

18-Aug-19
Pulled up around the corner and walked the short distance to this one. Just as we were exiting the van a security ute drove past and sure enough he was soon back and pulled up next to us. He asked if we were lost [guess he noticed the Tassie plates] but seemed quite happy to move on when we said that we were fine.
After a lengthy search we still hadn't found this one, even though we had checked and dismissed GZ. Went back to the van and read the logs and Mr Bailey was ready to give up but I wasn't so back we went again and a more thorough search soon revealed this cute little cache.
Thanks and a favourite point from us.

31-May-19
Took a few minutes of searching before realising nothing was presenting itself. Read some logs and got an idea of where the cache would be hidden before realising it had been entirely covered in a vigorous growth of weeds and was therefore invisible.

After doing some gardening it was an easier find. The whole walkway has become weed and vine heaven, the path seems rather unloved along here.

Log signed at 12:50 and cache returned as found. Thanks for the smilie **jasenjanine**. This log is trackable.

I can finally admit to a really good jump-scare at a cache without fearing my manliness is in question. I had even done some research but had forgotten about everything I had read.

Mrs Woodyrothwell and I came for our first cache of the day and started searching before I spied the cache which caught me by total surprise and I jumped back about 10 feet and squealed. I haven't had this big a jump-scare since I first moved out of home and got my first rates bill. I remember another big jump scare when I put a car in for a $99 service and left with $2200 in repairs. The biggest jump-scare however is when I woke up one day and found myself totally unprepared for a wedding anniversary.

Once my wife scolded me for being a child I asked her to grab it but she wasn't having it. I had to suck it up before being totally confident I wasn't going to lose a finger.

I hadn't had a coffee this morning but suddenly I was fully awake and the blood was pumping. Mrs Woodyrothwell said we had to give this cache a favourite point because she enjoyed seeing me act like a baby. The joke was on her because I also needed my nappy changed. tftc

We found ourselves having to make a trip up to the Sunshine Coast today, and with the Creation Carnival promotion by Geocaching HQ, we decided to target a few caches with high favourite points allocated to gain the various souvenirs Razz

We located this cache easily enough and with our name added to the log book, we continued on our way Cool

Thank you jasenjanine for placing the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy Big Grin

Driving back home, grabbing a few caches on the way. Initially stopped underneath the bridge, trying to establish if it was above the bridge of below the bridge.

Eventually worked out it was on top so relocated the car up the top. Jumped out and off we went. Great cache guardian. Very realistic looking. Poked it with a stick just to make sure he didn't take offence before touching him with my hands.

Cache was quickly signed and replaced, covered up to protect itself and we were off. Back to the stand still traffic of that 80 zone roadworks. Thanks JasenJanine, that makes smiley #475 Smile

07-Jul-18
Had to resort to old logs in order to find this one. Athough those did not really help pinpoint the actual location of the cache, save to say that there was a cache guardian involved. Finally unearthed by accident and yes the guardian was at home and looking very realistic. So much so that even though I knew he was fake, I still made geohubby withdraw him! Nice one, thank you.

Out for an afternoon of caching with stortigirls. We detoured off the main road to find this one. I parked the geomobile in a safe spot and we headed to GZ. Wednesday. Slow Puncture was out for a spin up to the coast today, with one specific cache in mind, and thereafter for some randoms.

We parked around the corner and made our way to GZ. A fair bit of looking ensued as our compasses were lying to us! Eventually, they settled, and Kerry examined something she hadn't previously. Then she jumped with a start, and Mr SP realised the cache had been uncovered. It is sad that this place is so unloved by the Council - an occasional visit wouldn't go astray...

This was the 4th of 5 caches found on today's trip.

Thanks ***jasenjanine***, for showing us this place. Smile

I was out and about today with Dora the Explorer! who required a nearby cache for her "Can you Spell December in December" challenge and when returning from that cache, we decided to stop for this one.

After arriving at GZ, a short search was conducted and after a short while the cache was coaxed from its guardian.

The log was signed and returned to the cache and the cache replaced exactly as found.

All is good with this cache.

**Smilie #3950**

Watching the weather & trying to decide where to raid today.
Hoping to hit the Sunshine Coast but looking north it didn't look very sunny. Smile
A few words with the Sun God, Mighty Ra, expressing our displeasure seems to have done the trick, the closer we get the more the weather is clearing! LOL ...
Selected Little Mountain & surrounds, filled up the Geo-beast & it was GAME ON!

Initially we wondered where this was taking us but on approach it all became clear.
Nice idea, the walkway, there should be a lot more of them.
Co-ords were spot on here & led me straight to the cache which was peering at me from it's lair.
Made our mark & replaced as found.

What a start to the day - just alighted from the GeoFalcon and it absolutely bucketed down. It lasted for all of less than five minutes then the sun was out briefly. Good - now where is that elusive cache. An alive toad guarding today. Someone in a log said clever camouflage - wonder if **that** is alive? Prod, prod - no! Nice cache guardian, but very muddy after that rather bizzare shower.

Found at 8.40am on 6th February 2016. TFTC.

7441 Cache Found

Tried for a early morning start today but lost almost 30 minutes trying to convince the apprentice Geo Dawg that he had to say at home and keep his sister company he was having none of this and steadfastly refused to budge a inch from his spot onm the front seat, With a little bit of shove and push he was removed from the vehicle muttering under his breath you'll never find them without me. Finally got under way heading to The Little Mountain Brithday Event. Found on the way to the event, Nice little cache nasty surprise though

Thanks for the great cache and adventure jasenjanineSmileSmile

This Day in History
Monday, February 6, 1832. : The Swan River colony is officially renamed “Western Australia”.
The first official, recorded sighting of Australia's western coastline occurred in 1611, when Dutch mariner Hendrik Brouwer attempted a different route to the Dutch East Indies. Dutch captain Dirk Hartog sailed too far whilst trying out Brouwer's route from the Cape of Good Hope to Batavia, via the Roaring Forties. Reaching the western coast of Australia, he became the first European to set foot on the western shores, landing on what is now known as Dirk Hartog Island, at Cape Inscription, in 1616. Further Dutch sightings of Australia followed as the route became more popular: hence the early name of "New Holland".
Although the northwest was forbidding and inhospitable, the southwestern corner held more promise. In 1697, Dutch captain Willem de Vlamingh sailed down a wide river which he named the Swan River because of the black swans he saw in abundance there. The name remained even after the English took possession of the western half of the Australian continent. When Captain Charles Fremantle raised the Union Jack on the south head of the Swan River in 1829, he claimed the territory for Britain: thus was the Swan River colony born.
The Swan River colony thrived, and within three years, had a population of around 1500 British settlers. On 6 February 1832, the Swan River colony was officially renamed as Western Australia.

Having just found another cache at the end of the road, I could hardly say no to stopping for this one while in the area. I found a nice little parking spot and wandered back over towards GZ. End up getting a little tangled with a few spider webs, which took a bit to get rid of. But soon I had the cache in hand name added to the log and on my way.

#546

How is it that on the one day of the year where I am supposed to find a geocache I am stuck inside all day doing assignments and school work!!

It came to 6.30pm and I said ENOUGH! I NEED to find a cache!

The rest of the family decided on take out for dinner and I proclaimed that a cache must be found on the way.

Now normally I would say that anywhere can be 'on the way' if there is a geocache to be found. I have told them previously that Maleny is absolutely on the way between Caloundra and Maroochydore when there is a FTF on the lose!

However in this circumstance even the usual 'Its on the way' story would not work. As the Bruce Highway is definitely not on the way to the take out store unless we were planning on getting take out from Brisbane!

So I bugged and I begged and sure enough they agreed. 'Only one!' they said. And so we headed in the COMPLETE opposite direction as I could not have my International Geocaching Day souvenir wasted on any old cache could I?

As we approached GZ Dad pointed out a likely hide. I had read the previous logs and this seemed to meet the description! I shone the torch in and took a peak!

*ANTICLIMAX*

It wasnt there!!!

Ooops, lets try this one over here.
Ahh, that looks more like it

Retrieved. I didn't even have to poke it! Geocaching has taught me to 'toughen up'
Signed and replaced for the next finder!

Thanks for this one jasenjanine! A great way to get my IGD souvenir. Fav point allocated for the fun evening find on this great occasion! Happy International Geocaching Day!
