Full set of Woomera trads and ALs.This one was the most interesting.A magpie came down to get my attention and led me up the rocks to a pair of emu feathers, swallow nests and some gorgeous wildflowers. Thank you magpie for not swooping me.Warning, it is a place of death. Many roos have come to grief here. I prefer to imagine it was natural causes, being cased over the edge by dingos or fighting for mob leadership. The number of skeletons does seem too suspicious though.Apart from that, it is an amazing location. All that black rock!
I bet this was a wonderful place to live as a child. I can imagine the kids just running wild out here. Thanks.
We drove towards this then from the track Mr80 decided he could do this one. He carefully found his way to GZ and signed the log while Mrs80 looked on from afar. TFTC an interesting location
OCW PelDroedGwin and geodog Peppa Staying in Woomera due a few days, today were focusing on caches on the outskirts of town.A surprisingly nice location, no water running today but very scenic. We disturbed a mob of wallabies sheltering in the caves as we approached. Tftc
Ocw the Bebes as we stay in Woomera. Lots of kangaroos around the cache site today. Tftc
I walked the long way to get there (of course) and took a few minutes before discovering this small well hidden cache. Met lots of startled roos and saw lots of very pretty purple flowers. TFTC
On our travels we are staying at Woomera and tried to do this cache last night but we’re beaten back by the mozzies, so first thing this morning we were off for a second attempt and so glad we did, what an amazing view, we walked over the creek and up the hill, kangaroos, hawks and snakes were all out to say good morning, got to the GZ and geo hubby was Jonny on the spot the cache in hand but where is the pen? So some improvisation was required, nothing that a old kangaroo bone and some orch can’t fix, thanks for placing this cache a favourite for us.
Found with ricklink as part of our 2022 South Australian Adventure.
Such an interesting place, but so very cold today. TFTC Liz&Bruce.

Up early to do a day trip to Woomera with iluvtrekking. Very gusty and chilly . The track was dry although there is evidence of it being very boggy recently. Replaced cracked container with a sistema - log sheet was ok. Thanks Liz and Bruce
Twas great to find a liz&bruce cache on an interesting track to these little caves.
The container is feeling the elements and tried to give it a little more spor protection. Next finder may like to bring a replacement.

I spent a good 10 minutes at gz while the ukulele kid ran around photographing birds, eventually he caught up with me started to help to look too.
I bow to his greater experience geocaching and announced if you find it straight away I'll kill you, 10 minutes later and sunset was approaching, I said I've changed my mind if you find it I'll be happy and we can go before it gets dark... I've found it he announced instantly, sigh. Of course he did!

Outback caching with Purrfect Di and Jack...
This was a great location. There was water in the creek. Kangaroos there to greet us. A nice walk in and short climb. Could imagine this being the adventure hub for local youngsters.
Thank you Liz and Bruce for another great location and yellow smiley on our state geomap

So, thanks for the cache.
So, thanks for the cache.
Walked over the top of this one a couple of times before I walked down and looked up and spyed it! The rock colour is amazing! TFTC
Parked the car on the road and made the walk down to this cache, an interesting spot next to the river, a few dead kangaroos though unfortunately.
Cache was easily located
Today we headed home from woomera to Adelaide, with 5 hours of driving ahead and no restrictions on timing to return home we decided to do some caching along the way.

@Davidwazza and I travelled to the Northern Territory from Adelaide for a 2.5 weeks road trip holiday in the infamous black jeep. We took a route through Port Augusta, Woomera, Roxby Downs, Andamooka, and then drove the Oodnadatta Track via Coward Springs, William Creek (including a Lake Eyre scenic flight), Oodnadatta, and Marla. It was then onwards to visit Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tju?a (Olgas), Kings Canyon, and then drove the Red Centre Way aka. Mereenie Loop Road to see the Tjoritja (West MacDonell Ranges), calling in to see the various highlights. We then stayed a few nights in Alice Springs, and included a day trip to see the East MacDonell Ranges, before heading home in a more direct route through Palm Valley, Owen Springs Reserve, Henbury Craters, and the Lambert Centre of Australia, and finally Coober Pedy.
Today, we started our outback trip travelling from Adelaide to Roxby Downs via Port Augusta and Woomera. We attended the event in Port Augusta, and from there, we made a few stops off the main highway, and then spent a few hours checking out Woomera. Its history on its artillery and aircraft display was pretty cool, and a nice collection of older geocaches there also. As it started getting late, we made the final drive up to Roxby Downs where we enjoyed a nice dinner at the pub.

It was then time to turn around to head to South Australia, and in doing so, we visited the Palm Valley, and made the 4WD detour through Owen Springs Reserve (an excellent shortcut that wasn’t too technically difficult), calling into the Henbury Craters, and the Lambert Centre of Australia. Our final stop was Coober Pedy, and we really enjoyed checking out the various dugouts and mines.
Today, we started our outback trip travelling from Adelaide to Roxby Downs via Port Augusta and Woomera. We were on a mission to attend our organised event in Port Augusta, and from there, we made a few stops off the main highway, and then spent a few hours checking out Woomera. Its history on its artillery and aircraft display was pretty cool, and a nice collection of older geocaches there also. As it started getting late, we made the final drive up to Roxby Downs where we enjoyed a nice dinner at the pub.
We ended up parking a small distance away for this one, and made the walk to GZ. It actually took some searching trying to find the right nook or crannie that housed the cache here. Eventually, I saw something of interest when I at the right level and about 4 m away from GZ. Some cool caves indeed here, with a few animal skeletons scattered around as if animals came here when they knew their time was up? The cache container and logbook were in good shape. I picked up the TB that was in here also. Thanks Liz and Bruce for the cache placement, and Gumby 37 for the ongoing maintenance.

After spending too long climbing around the rocks and focusing too much on the jumpy Gps signal, and busted a thong (argh!) finally found the sucker! A nearby wallaby kept hopped around and kept me company while hunting for the cache
TFTC, left a travel bug!

Stepping over some dead kangaroos I eventually found my way to the cache. Great views from up here! Thanks for placing the cache Liz and Bruce (maintenance by Gumby 37).
Found while we toured a circuit of the Flinders Ranges, Marree, Roxby Downs, Woomera and Port Augusta for the week, mostly touring the backroads and visiting many scenic and interesting locations. Thanks for the cache Liz and Bruce, and Gumby 37 for maintenance!
We've been wanting to drive the Strzelecki Track for a long time so a window of opportunity came up and we were out the gate!! We travelled up the Birdsville Track and down from Innamincka. Had a great time caching and admiring many views of the outback. The only casualty was the windscreen which had a close encounter with a rock on day 3. Got told in Birdsville that it wasn't bad enough to freight another up. Luckily it made it all the way home with the help of duct tape. We found some great views and historical places thanks to geocaching.

We had headed off on an outback adventure but unfortunately it was cut short with Mrs Just a Trifle having to return home to attend to her elderly mother. We were quite rushed and only managed a few quick stops here and there to stretch the legs and search for a cache or two.
This was one of the caches we decided to stop at to try our luck. We had no difficulty in locating the cache and with our name added to the log book, we continued on our way.
Thank you Liz and Bruce for placing the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

Awesome find. We did a spot of noodling on the way in, but alas no luck. Great adventure thank you.
Another weekend trip that was schemed up with Dr Owl when I found out I was living in Pt Augusta for a short while. The aim of the weekend was to find caches in two LGA areas we'd never previously visited/geocached and to play tourist. This was new territory for Dr Owl and ages since I'd visited parts of it. Needless to say the goals and much more were achieved along side serious laughs and serious discussions. This was an absolutely awesome weekend. We oohed and aahed at the scenery, meet some wonderful friendly people and interesting characters and enjoyed some unique experiences along the way.
The discussion on the way to this cache was earthy (rocky) - mesa, silicate, ferric oxide, ripples in time. All learnt from the numerous earth caches we've don in our travels. Oh the cache was easily found thanks to the owls sharp eyes, I would have got there in the end. The cache contained the first TB found in the wild for this run.
Thanks for bringing us here and the cache Liz and Bruce.

Couldn't leave a green box in Woomera, so being ahead of schedule, they dynamic duo made a detour to collect it. Owl was feeling fragile, so sent up the Fish and gave helpful directions. (It was actually easier to see from below, so Owl felt like she made a real contribution.) Some interesting coloured rocks in the area.
Came over from Barranbali Avenue, drove down to the pipe across the creek and walked up to the cache [8].
This was a neat little spot and we can imagine all the town kids playing here - we're sure it would have been a favourite . All left to the 'roos now .

Thanks again Liz and Bruce.

I drove down a track a little way, then when it appeared to peter out I parked and walked. It took a little searching on a couple of levels before I located the cache. This is my last cache in Woomera, as last trip and this trip I have now found all the present existing ones. TFTC Liz and Bruce and Gumby 37.
From below as suggested by previous cacher. Geohubby scrambled up a bit further. That completes the set for us.
Been watching this cache for a few years now.
Was heaps of water here when I first came here so access was only from above and I decided that wouldn't be my thing!
So an attempt today with The Honeysucker's in town. Came in from the opposite side of creek and walked across and up.
Easy peasy, TFTC Liz and Bruce

TFTC 2525 # So many caravans on the road all heading north we are heading south and it is getting a little colder each day back to Woomera to do the last few caches here Thanks Liz and Bruce had a great time in this area
Found by Mary & David at 1415. Another haunt for young Bruce? So easy to imagine him right at home here. Certainly think this place would have had special meaning for the indigenous people who once walked here too. Loved the caves, and happily a quick find among so many rocks. Our thanks to Liz and Bruce.
Favorite point, because we did this one at night. Very cool location, though a bit risky with torchlight.
Mr Roo to the rescue though, with his find.
Thanks to Liz and Bruce for the cache.
Found during our five week journey half-way around Australia, for the NT Experience OzMega event, somewhere between: ACT -> NSW -> Qld -> NT -> SA -> Vic -> NSW -> ACT.
So many stories to tell. So many experiences had. So little time to mention them all.

###Trip to the *Red Centre Experience* 2017###
Unfortunately, half of our team is home-based due to work commitment, the other half is lucky enough to be Alice Springs bound, in the company of Team Indiana08. Therefore, for a couple of weeks, our team will be attending some events and possibly finding the odd cache in different states.
---
Discovering places like this is one of the advantages of caching and why we enjoy it so much. It is stunning place and we can imagine how young Bruce came to these caves and water hole in his free time. We can also imagine that this must have a been a special place for the Aboriginal people in pre-European times.
Thanks for sharing it with us.

On the road to the Alice Springs Mega with LuckyL10n and Albida33. We headed through Burra and Port Pirie before arriving in Port Augusta for the trek up the highway. Collected a good number of caches and all were found with no issues and the logs were soon signed. (Some logs were signed as S.A.L. to save space.)

#6625 - 12:45; Day 9 of the Alice Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune and albida33, so most of the 33 logs for today were signed S.A.L. as a result. After packing up camp, we were on the road again headed to Glendambo via Port Augusta and Pimba along the Stuart Highway, with a detour in to Woomera and Roxby Downs. Taking a detour from the highway and having passed through Pimba we arrived in Woomera we we set about collecting as many of the local caches as we could. Parked the geomobile and headed off on foot. Looks like the area is still a popular spot for the odd party or two, but we managed to find the cache safe and snug in its hiding spot. TFTC Liz and Bruce
Reperio at 1120.
As I continued my journey from Newcastle towards The Red Centre Experience in Alice Springs with DOC-WHO, we couldn't come all the way out here without visiting Woomera, and this cache was first cab off the rank. We parked at the top of the road closure and heading down to the caves where we found some really cool rock formations and hidey holes. We weren't too sure whether we were going to disturb a reptile of some sort, or a local who may have taken up residence. Fortunately we found neither, and found a nicely hidden cache.

We'd lobbed in to Woomera the previous evening which was our designated meeting place with DazzPete. With gale force winds that seemed to have been our headwind since Renmark the decision was made to go for the comfort of a motel room instead of the tent. We decided to do a few caches only as we needed to get a move on if we wanted to stick somewhat loosely to our intended itinerary. This cache was obviously one of the few we did. Quite an amazing area with many lairs for local wildlife. The cache was found well hidden and in good condition. Quite amazing to see water down here which we would never have visited if it weren't for this cache. Thanks Liz and Bruce for highlighting such an intriguing part of Woomera - we greatly appreciated the opportunity. Cheers [^]

Another magnificent area caching has taken me... After staying here the night, I set out this morning to clean up Woomera... As a former RAAFie, I was fascinated with the area...
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment Liz and Bruce...

It's amazing to envisage how busy this community was back in the day, lots of buildings gone, but the roads show on the maps. The only bit of evidence down this way was the pipes. Thanks for sharing the sights.

Enjoyed finding this one with Monks 55. Quite a scramble over the rocks. ..this is what I love about caching. ..finding little places like this that you would never see. Located the cache outside Mr. Kangaroo's cave and right next to the home of a sleeping brown snake, so beware! Take care on the rocks. Took TB. TFTC
I think we may have taken the long way round but we found it! With an iPhone! With Optus!! Our most adventurous cache yet along a rocky track, a little walk and a rocky scramble in all directions. Thank you for the great opportunity to have some fun TFTC
Staying in Woomera overnight heading to Alice Springs. After a full and hearty meal at the Eldo Hotel, a long walk was called for. I decided a stroll around the town perimeter would allow a few cache finds as well. Strolling across the open land toward GZ, I saw numerous samples of quartzite, displaying cross bedding and ripple marks, that got the juices running. Arriving at GZ, following a clear animal track across the rocky ground, a very short search soon had the prize in hand. Thanks Liz and Bruce for placing and Gumby 37 for maintaining this cache.
Have been meaning to pop by for a while, but finally made the time. There was no pen, so I have left one here. TN TFTC!
With Geovan in tow we headed south and picked a few caches on the way and this was one of them. Walked in from the western side to the top of the cliff and found GZ under the cave. Good co-ords.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Found at 4:55:00 PM with DogBoyOz on our Red Centre Adventure.
We stayed overnight in Woomera and spent some time doing some of the local caches. How long does it take to walk 350 metres? Quite a long time here without the correct footwear. Sharp rocks a prickles slowed us right down. Nice spot.
Thanks Liz and Bruce.

With only two left to grab in or near Woomera, we decided to make this one as close to a drive-by as we could. The short walk from the car led us to the haystack area and that had us going for quite a few minutes before TMT gave that yell we all love to hear at 17:30.
Amazing rocks and rock formations around here but now it's off to see if we can 'close out' Woomera.
TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks Liz and Bruce (maintenance by Gumby 37).

4729 Found by baby&Mrs gopher at 1440. We parked at the water pipes an walked up the rise. This took much longer to find then first thought. The flora has really flourished with the rains of recent times and this covered a lot of the softer ground around the rocks. SL all in good condition Tnx Liz and Bruce.
