We hit Canberra on a cache assault with Alansee, maccamob, McLookers, Micaparamedic, Moonb1, Muzza , Rabbitoh and Pprass Drive
We were picking up caches around the Cotter Dam area. We did enjoy this drive and the hides and enough room for two cars at most locations.
The sun had broken through the fog by now and the scenery was great
With this many eyes looking the most of the caches were found quite quickly and the log book signed.
To save room in the Logs signed as "Vic1"
Many thanks for the cache

Vic 1 group caching in Canberra consisting of Alansee, Muzza, McLookers, Micaparamedic, Alansee, Rabbitto, Team Crackers and Pprass.
We found this cache on Day 2 of our Vic1 Canberra Run in company of Muzza, McLookers, Micaparamedic, Alansee, Moonb1, Maccamob, Team Crackers and Pprass. Today was our Uriarra and Cotter Loop. Very pretty by the river. Thanks from D B-A
Found with Moonb1, McLookers, Maccamob, Muzza, Pprass, Team Crackers, Rabbitto et al on a day caching in the Canberra Area.
Second day of group caching in Canberra. All caches signed as Vic1. Found in a large group consisting of McLookers, Micaparamedic, Alansee, Moonb1, Rabbitto, Team Crackers and Pprass.
Thanks to Tankengine for the cache.

Alansee worked out a route for us to do today which included some very challenging AL's and we ended up at an event where the locals were to meet us! A big day that showed the beauty of the ACT and surrounds after the fog finally lifted! Most of the caches were way under rated though - nearly all of them were just a D/T of 1.5/1.5 no matter how hard they were to get to or find them - not very imaginitive in that sense.

On the way to do some caching in Stony Creek reserve, I stopped in to examine this multi. Nice and quiet at the Cotter this Monday morning, and answers soon to hand. Cache located in a likely spot after a brief search. Although this log's clearly had a hard life, it's all in good condition with lots of space left.
Thanks, Tankengine!

#3555 While it was a fairly busy day in the Cotter with families cooling off in the river, we had the viewing platform to ourselves as we collected the required information. DeadThief put it all together and we moved on to GZ. Spotting the cache was not a problem but had to time the retrieval and replacement between passers by. All went well and back in place without giving anything away. Thanks Tankengine for our final find of the day.
I solved this a few months ago. Needing a multi, today Nibletricecakes and I made the find after searching the length of the "structure". TFTC Tankengine.
Found today. Thanks for the cache and the adventure. Signed dsd or Darksidedan or AB or Adventure Boys to save space in the logbook.
It was a relief to finally tick this cache off the list. I had been here once before and had no luck, so came back again with Howjen567 today and had the cache in hand in a few minutes. I can't think why the cache was so elusive last time because it was quite obvious when viewing from the right angle. I'm so glad I came prepared with an old printed copy of the cache listing. TFTC
Came here with my cousin Capt Tomato. Was wanting to come back as the last time was when our kids were small, about 35 years ago. The new dam wasn’t thought of then so it all looks a bit different. Had my late father in law with us at the time and he remembered the original being built so that takes us full circle so to speak.
As to the cache, I loaded Canberra into the GPS but this ended up just outside the circle I’d loaded so I thought no problem I’ll use the phone. That failed also as there was no reception and Capt C was in the same boat. Luckily he had a printed copy so all was not lost and after a bit of a search we found the cache.
Thanks indeed. Will need to come back again better prepared.

TFTC Great day for caching again today, thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache.
Really interesting exploring around this area today after an event earlier on. Spotted this one on approach. Thanks Tankengine!

This is a great cache as I love to read up on engineering projects like this one. It's amazing to think about the statistics involved. GZ was particularly overrun by parents and their kids so it was a case of tying my shoe several times.

Found with Decrypter. I had a DNF of this cache in 2014. Today it was the first place I checked and I put my hand straight on it. Must be the six more years of experience in between . (Not sure if a wheelchair person would be able to reach it though.) Cache and log were okay. Nice to change to . TFTC Tankengine.
After caching with Trodectus, Coybear2000, Binliner and Goldenwattle to find a group of puzzle caches, Goldenwattle and I continued on to find a few more. TFTC.
In these coronavirus times, the activity of geocaching seems to fit the bill, providing ample fresh air and exercise opportunities. Today, I sought out some caches in the Cotter while walking with Elleise. We collected the information for this cache at the start of the walk, did the calculations and sought out the cache as we returned to the car. This cache proved a straightforward find, being in an obvious position on the coordinates. Thank you Tankengine for installing and maintaining this cache.
With only 2 finds since the Mega a year ago I was a bit worried .
The first attempt got me into a grass area with nothing around .
Rounded one of the numbers up which wasn’t a whole number and moved to a new location 140 m away .
This looked more promising !
A quick find and log .
A fav tick awarded for the trails , info boards, great dam views , plenty of seats around the the hide .
Top marks !
Thanks to Tankengine for the multi cache invitation.

In the area for a xmas party and found early before everybody else arrived in the area. TFTC
After admiring the stepped dam, we checked out the sign boards.
The numbers were calculated and double checked. A nice walk along the interpretive path ensued.
The things you learn caching! Many thanks
Thanks to Tankengine and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!

Nice walk to the co-ords - plenty of information there. Bit tricky a couple of the answers but soon enough we looked like we had good numbers.
Bit of a search at final location but found it in good condition.
Thank you Tankengine for bringing us here.

Did the calculations six years ago! I've been back a few times, but always too busy. Today was reasonably quiet here so had a bit of a look. Found after a while a little bit further away from where I have searched before.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Worked out the details last week but ran out of daylight (and motivation) to calculate GZ and make the find. Back again this week for a few more finds, including this one. Always interesting reading about local history. TNLNSL TFTC

I picked up the info for this one months ago. So long ago in fact that the dam was overflowing, but on the day there were just too many muggles. Today it was all but deserted.

After collecting the information, I headed up the hill to find a couple of other trads and a multi, before returning here and then on to GZ. The cache was easily spotted as I approached. TFTC.

I took the kids to the playground, so availed myself of the opportunity to see if GZ was clear today. As it turned out it was, so I went down and made a quick find. Thanks for the cache, spread over two visits.
I worked out where it was hidden and think I even saw it, but was muggles out. I'll grab it next time I'm here.
Wednesday 18 October 2017 - a glorious warm cloudless Spring afternoon in the mid 20s out to drive Nonna around with MuggleHusband to keep her entertained and occupied. Found 2 caches (1 trad & 1 multi) and 2 DNFs but not before putting in the time to search before giving up.
Picking up the data for this cache was straightforward however finding the container took far too long. It was in the first place I looked but it was not obvious that it was a cache from the angle I was standing. Think that I had something else in mind when I saw GZ ) TFTC Tankengine.

An enjoyable multi in an interesting location. Took ages to find the cache for some reason! We were over thinking it and should have concentrated on where we first looked! TFTC

Tried and failed two years ago. Redid all the calculations to return to the same spot I tried in 2014.
After 20 minutes finally found it at last. My problem was that I was expecting something smaller and was therefore concentrating on the wrong sort of hidey holes at the GZ. Lots of school kids around on the other side of the river but they completely ignored me, thank goodness. TFTC.

After an interesting Cotter lesson we obtained all the information then headed to GZ. Searched for sometime before we remembered just who put this out. So Aquilus1 got into that mindset and then found quickly. Tftc Tankengine!!!
With a few holes of unfounds out near the cotter it was a late afternoon cache run with dty73. Although busy as usual down at the picnic grounds this area was very quiet. A bit of education later and questions answered before heading off towards the cache. We really overthought this and missed it completely. Thinking we would head off to the other caches on todays list and return later a certain something caught my attention. A bit of an explore and soon enough the right spot showed itself. Thanks for the cache Tankengine!
Another one done. Woo Hoo! I love the challenge of the geocache hunt - read the notes, decipher the cache requirements, and go searching for the hide. This is an amazing world-wide game of hide and seek. I love it! I also enjoy caching with my family, and meeting fellow cachers. It really is a small world when I read over cache logs. **Thanks go to Tankengine** for placing this cache and maintaining it. It's a great contribution to the Geocaching community and much appreciated.
I solved this one months ago but GZ was over run with muggles. So today after dropping of 12yo at camp, I popped down here on a quiet morning to nab my find. I enjoyed finding this one at 9:28:25 AM with 6yo geo-kid.

Found on a run out to the Cotter. Tried to grab Cotter Corner but the river was too high. So we made our way up to the dam to grab this cache. Cool multi with lots to see and explore. Cache found on a short walk back towards the car. Thanks again TE for another beaut cache.
Deliberately saved this one for my 300th. I really love Cotter, and have spent more than two decades of trips coming out here ever since i come down here for my first visit, not being a native of Canberra. I really love this river, so wanted to use this multi to emphasise the beauty of this area. The cache was very easily found, and seeing a TB, I knew I had to swap the one I was carrying for this one! Thanks for the nice cache and fun work on getting data out of the viewing platform!
Found with Kittykatch and other friends. Very interesting facts and took us up to the lookout. First time I had been there. The water was spilling over the causeway and looked beautiful. Lovely day out. TFTC

I had an unexpected visit from my brother this weekend, so caching opportunities were limited. I did escape out to the Cotter for a few hours in the afternoon. The biting winds of the last few days have subsided, but the daytime temperature did not rise about 8C and with wind-chill it hovered around zero.
I've been out to the Cotter many times, but it's a time-consuming place to go caching. But it is a wonderful location and well worth the effort.
I collected all the answers and confidently marched down to the very plausible gz, but it was a very tricky hide. I employed a tool I carry to find the cache in the end. I was a bit surprised when I did. But pleased about it,

Finally! Only took a couple of years since my first attempt and the cover of my young neice to make the find. Enjoyed the moment when I could finally put my name on the log sheet. Thanks for the challenge Tankengine and TFTC!
This is quite a magnificent structure. We really enjoyed this multi for giving us much more of an understanding of the area and also getting a chance to explore it better. We gathered the information and made the find at GZ after a lovely stroll. Thanks for the maintenance Tankengine.
Whist attending the nearby event, we slipped away for a few minutes with McLookers and Motndarg to complete this multi. Stealth was required at GZ today with so many people enjoying this beautiful area on Easter Sunday.
Great information boards - worked our way through the questions then walked to GZ . Oh boy, muggles, muggles everywhere!!!! Had to be so, so sneaky to retrieve this one. A great area and information.
This was an extremely well constructed cache, with some questions that required lots of reading to find, as well as the full walk required in order to get to GZ which I thought was a great idea!
We quickly realised some of the questions were not needed and after 10 minutes or so we had the coords in hand which agreed with the checksum.
A nice walk to GZ which was absolutely SWARMING with muggles. But luckily they were all in the river and the parents eyes were glued to their kids so nobody even looked our way. A sneaky grab was made and the log signed!
Thanks Tankengine, another favourite point awarded

Decided to check on this one, and happy to say, it was all OK. Have also replaced the log sheet, as it was getting a little tatty. (Old log attached). Finally, I added some checksums, to help against errors.
Took a trip out to Cotter Dam fir a bit of a picnic while staying with kids/grandkids in Canberra in the lead up to Christmas. I wasn't sure about phone reception out here so had taken the wise move to save the caches around here offline beforehand. I enjoyed learning all about the history of the dam here but after doing all the work to get to GZ, I left a bit disappointed at my inability to locate the cache despite a fairly extensive search. Oh well, them's the breaks ... but thanks for the history lesson anyway tankengine.
Today we explored Camberra and surrounds using geocaching as a guide. Found on the way to Pierces Creek State Forest. Worked through the questions and Mrs "T" came up with the goods.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.
We shared the viewing platform with a few tourists today but were able to collect the clues we needed without issue. No idea about M and N though. Calculated GZ and picked up the cache after visiting the dam wall. Thanks for making us learn about the construction Tankengine . Nice to have some of the background information and really enjoyed the population stats built into the walkway.
I am back out here today after dropping my middle daughter off at the nearby scout camp for a leadership course. I wanted to return to see this lovely area during the day after being out here on Thursday night doing some night caching. ACTEW have done an excellent job with this area. A nice walk to the look out to gather the info to calculate the gz. It took a while to find this one. I was looking on the wrong side. Thanks Tankengine, a favourite for me. Will bring my youngest back this afternoon to play on the playground.
This place really deserved a multi like this! Loved reading all the info and doing the hole walk!

Several months ago I walked north from Kambah along the Murrumbidgee to clear out caches. To-day I started at the quarry/mine near Camp Cottermouth and headed south before returning and hunting for caches around the Cotter.
Must be close but there were lots of places where it could be.
Must be close but there were lots of places where it could be.
Went to check on this today, and it was fine. Hiding in it's hidey hole, no problems... So the moral of the story is... A couple of DNFs does not warrant a "needs maintenance" log... Maybe ask me for a hint instead?
The first stage was easy enough. unfortunately we got to GZ and the GPS was jumping between 5m and 30m. Lots of rocks trees, and a bridge. Could be anywhere. We checked lots of places but came up empty. Oh well the last 4 people also couldn't find it either so at least we were in good company.
Was good views of the dam today with them letting out lots of water

We gave this a good search, under boulders, in casuarinas, in a stump not far away, on things that a magnetic cache would stick to, among rocks, but nothing. The GPS indicated the river side of the path, but we searched both sides. I hope we had worked out the correct co-ordinates.

Enjoyed wander this area and too many muggles at GZ so give up - another day.. Thanks Tankengine.
Thought I got the required information. But couldn’t find the thing. Had a fantastic time though. Not really into the micro/nano thing. The journey is the reward.
[center]7789. [green]Out and about in the area so decided to give this one a go. In the process of learning about stuff managed to find a really cool cache container . . . except it was the counting device for visitors crossing the bridge. So we added a number of visitors before heading of.

Found on a return visit to this lovely location. Arguably more entertainment to be had here than Hoover Dam! Thanks
Love a multi and this one is in a great spot. After a rounding to the calculations we were soon heading in the right direction. Thanks TE
We love multis! And particularly ones that take you somewhere interesting. You get to exercise your brain more than usual and you are still rewarded at the end by finding a cache. And we did the brain exercising more than was necessary with this one!
Now we had some trouble with our calculations that initially lead to a 'barren' spot. However, upon review and some rounding up rather than down we had a more viable GZ. (CW sat out this review, refine, recalculate, regurgitate stage) Then it was off to what turned out to be a quite logical spot for the find. Thanks yet again Tankengine... a definite favourite!

2584. After visiting a few of the CO's other caches in the area, I decided I should call on this one. Well wasnt this a big surprise with the amount of new infrastructure that is here now. So after checking out all the info and gathering the data, I thought I knew where GZ was and returned to the car. I thought I had messed things up a little, but after a short drive, I found a very convenient approach to GZ. I always love these information based caches, so a favourite from me.
Thanks TE for the cache and bringing me here.

What a great location, and interesting multi! Our enthusiasm for caching has been seriously waning lately - too many eclipse tins, too many questionable placements, too many in drab locations, too many TFTC logs, too many logs with no thanks at all in them, and so on. But on venturing out today we found this great walkway with interesting signs and history, the views of the new damn wall and hardly anyone around to give us any muggle difficulty. I think our enthusiasm is somewhat refreshed after six fun finds today - thanks Tankengine- here's a rare favourite point from us .
learnt a lot about the cotter and the new dam construction. beautiful sunny afternoon to be out caching with Darzee Di and Koda Geohound tftc Tankengine
What a great way of finding out information about the cotter, so much interesting information that I didn't know about. ACTchil wrote down the answers whilst I kept Koda the geodog calm and away from all the interesting people, yep lots of people visiting area. Then off we went for the little walk and what a great hide thanks again Tankengine
Found on a good day for getting the Mineshaft series. Another cache found in the Cotter region. Parked down by the bridge (next to a previously found cache), then it was a quick walk up to WP1. A few families up there today, a great way to enjoy the day. Most of the info was gathered, however we had trouble understanding "M". However it was discovered that it wasn't needed in the co-ords, so we just calculated from what we had already gathered and we were off to GZ. Shame that we couldn't find the answer, would've been really interesting to know. Great history and information about the dam, fantastic idea for a multi. Can't wait to see what the dam will look like soon. Once at GZ, there was a family playing the river, however the cache was found quick enough for them not to notice. Great little hide. Loved this one. TFTC TE!
Interesting spot and educational cache... even in the middle of the night. Number dyslexia had me climbing a steep embankment before I checked the numbers and found it.

Lots of muggles walking around this beautiful area. How incredibly high is that dam wall? We collected all the necessary data, and after a little bit of discreet searching had the cache in hand. Last one for the day total of 41. TFTC Tankengine.
2013: 125 Days In A Row - Enjoyed the look around all the interesting signs chasing down clues for GZ. Also enjoyed the extra bits of work. lol A nice stroll over to GZ, and then we had a bit of trouble finding the cache. Muggles everywhere today!!! But we got there in the end... TFTC
This gave us a nice walk around, though we looked rather odd jumping from sign to sign with many muggles around, oh well. TFTC!
My cacher instincts were almost right with this one but in the end I had to do it properly! Earlier in the day I had a bit of a fish around at what proved to be GZ just on the off chance it might hold a cache (as you do) but no luck. Then gathered the required info and bacl to pretty much that spot but I made the find much harder than it needed to be! TFTC and the lesson.
We were out geocaching with parkpre and some friends. Men were working on the dam so it was easier to appreciate how big it is. Good multi and soon found the final container. TFTC.
Grabbed the coords and used some family cover at GZ to grab the log.
Some very shady characters in budgie smugglers showing off their 'tackle' near GZ. Very strange goings on out on the Cotter today.

Another sunny beautiful autumn day and what a way to spend Easter Monday than with a few Tankengine caches . So we decided to start here...we really love this little corner of Canberra, but we are not the only ones, with the area absolutely swarming with muggles today enjoying the Cotter Corridor.
The dam is looking pretty impressive and very complete (but why does it look like its leaking [:o]?) and we really loved the view from the platform We enjoyed collecting the information and learning a bit more about the dam and wondered how many caches would become submersed once it starts to fill. Once we calculated GZ we made the walk through "time" in reverse and once at GZ we had to do a stealthy search , grab, and return.
Thanks Tankengine, not sure why it has taken us so long to tick this one off but with the dam almost at completion we thought it was time to do it . We are curious about those basins though...?

After getting all the required info (pretty sure I got it right), I couldn't find this one. Probably looked for 30 mins in all sorts of places, but didn't see it. Probably right under my nose. Only a few muggles, so that was not an issue. Next time!
Grabbed the coords and in for the quick find with swimming muggles oblivious. TFTC.
6080 + 749 = 6829. Found during an impromptu run through Paddy's River, Cotter and then back to Canberra.
After picking up a bunch of GCA moveables on Smiths Road and bumping into SDL as he walked back from getting Cuppacumbalong Cemetery, we went on an unplanned run through the area.
More good work having been done in this area ! A very interesting Multi - lots of good info here ! I was sharing the platform with someone who was also very interested in the info but nope wasnt a cacher ! Then a short walk to GZ where the swimming muggles took no interest in me. Thanks again Tankengine ! This area has many memories for me !

We headed straight for this one after finding your Cotter Comeback II. An easy walk to the viewing platform and thought we found all the numbers needed. Entered in the coords and headed to the GZ. I thought we had it right and it was in a very likely place, but we didn't find anything. There were plenty of muggles in the area, so we couldn't do as thorough search as I would have liked. Will try this again, and double check our numbers beforehand. We'll be back!
Out for a lovely day with the family, GeoSon Snr was on his bike and GeoSon Jnr in the pram. Was a lovely walk and not to many muggles out.
Quickly gathered the clues and planned to grab another close by cache prior to arriving at GZ. At the other cache, we were greeted by albida33. We grabbed that one and continued to grab this one. The Construction is nearing completion now which is nice to see.
