Continuing on our way around the wild west to action our personal pandemic stimulus package. So obviously we have planned a geo-trail for the next five days. This is one of 29 on our list ...... wonder how we will go !
Had the time to bag some more caches between Strahan and Derwent Bridge. This was lunch stop for us, boil the billy, make a sandwich and search for a cache ........ and search we did ! BUT alas ! no result same as the previous cacher two days ago. I'll put a watch on this one but don't hold out much hope polfil. TFTC all the same, and a reason to stop, 'cos it certainly would not be for rafting down the Franklin !

Second time lucky we found this one. Thanks to both geodaughters for finding this one. Not quite where the clue suggested and perhaps the terrain rating is a bit low. But all good fun. The log was full so also put a new log in. TFTC
Driving from Hobart to Queenstown, we thought it would be rude not to stop for a few caches along the way. The GPS was jumping all around the place so we relied on the clue, but no luck in multiple places. Read some previous logs and had another idea but it was getting dark and we couldn't see properly (and it was really wet) so we abandoned the search. We'll be back through on Thursday so will have another look then.
Found on the way from Tullah to Ellendale during my motorcycle holiday on this marvelous island.
Great location. Great place to stop for a rest. Grandies loved the play here. TFTC. TNLN.
Pulled up here but there were lots of muggles getting ready to kayak right next to GZ. Didn't want to compromise the cache so decided to leave it for another time...
So sorry! I had just reached the cache, when loads of muggles came along for kajaking. Guess they did not know why I was sitting under the bridge. Hope so. Tftc.
Tasmania Day 6: Queenstown - Lake St Clair - Mt Field - Hobart
We made the journey from the West Coast of Tasmania back to Hobart today, which was a very long drive, but brought us some fabulous views and a diversity of trails and waterfalls. The views from Lake St Clair were awesome, along with some of the best waterfalls in Tasmania (Russell Falls is definitely an excellent waterfall). We started off at 9 am and reach Hobart at almost 9 pm, so it really was a grand finale to our Tasmania road trip.
This is the specific log for this cache:
A good spot to stretch the legs indeed, though the terrain rating here is really deceptive. It was a little bit of a scramble up from the bottom and a stretch to get this one. Fortunately, there was an easy escape route by the highway, which I took to avoid any slipping. TFTC!

Today we left Mount Field NP and continued on the A10 towards the north coast. On the way we were allowed to log one or the other geocache. We also saw a Tiger Snake... Thank you for the caches.
While in Tasmania with PlagueRider, we stopped at a few geocaches as we wandered around from place to place exploring this little gem down under. This was one of the ones that we found. Thanks to all cache owners for putting these out here for us to hunt!
Some ratbag had pushed it along way under the bridge. After a long time with a stick we retired it signed it and replaced in a 1.5 position. Kutgw
Die Pause tat gut, nach der einsamen Fahrt auf dieser Strecke.

Another scramble one. A bit more of a challenging on a drizzling day, but I survived. This area of Tasmania is my favourite, so relaxing.
10 years ago I rafted the Franklin and Gorden River to Strahn in 7 days. This is where we started from... it's great to be back.
Travelling around Tassie for a couple of weeks with MizzJane.
Finding some caches as we go.
Thank- you for bringing us here.
The log book was duly signed.
P.S. Franklin never played for Collingwood. He played for Hawthorn and is currently playing for Sydney Swans.

As with previous finders, the clue is pretty much clueless and had me looking in al h wrong spots. Beautiful location, and love the painting/graffiti under the bridge.

Find #4678
On a trip around Tassie with the family and this was a day of driving from Strahan to Oatlands. This was one I had noticed when we stopped earlier so it seemed a good place for a quick stop along our trip. It was conveniently close to the main road but I have to admit it wasn’t a quick found. I found the GPS a bit jumpy and tried several areas without success. In fact I was ready to call it off when I just managed to find it in another nearby spot. Grabbed and signed and we were off on our way again just before our youngest ran out of patience. My fifth cache for the day. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache polfil.

Tassie Trip Day 43 - Today we put the big box on the back of the GeoVehicle and made our way from Queenstown to New Norfolk for our next base camp and along the way we mad a few stops at suitable caches along the way. It turned out to be a great day for travel however it turned a little damp at our final destination that is the camp location at setup time.
Well from the kick off it was a great travelling day arriving at the area of GZ with no rafters in sight the cache was soon had and we proceeded along the highway to our destination.
Thanks polfil for bringing us here to this wonderful loction to stop and cache.

Sadly a DNF here. The GPS had very poor cover and the clue item meant it could be anywhere. With such a wide search area and the GPS pointing 100ft away at times when just a minute ago it was there, I had my work cut out. With a difficulty rating of just 1.5, it would be nice to have some guidance on how far I need to go to search, and even which side of the bridge. After 20 minutes I had to give up and accept the DNF.
Hi there polfil.
We found your cache **"Collingwood"** at 10:49:00 AM today. (This makes our grand total 18942).
We are camped at Zeehan for a couple of nights, and headed down to Derwent Bridge to visit The Wall - and of course to log some caches on the way. We thoroughly enjoyed the drive - steep and winding roads are much easier without the caravan. We ended up finding a variety of container types, and sizes on our journey. Our find count for today was 6 caches, with 0 DNF's.
Thanks for placing the cache here. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

#14301. Day 8 of our 3 week holiday in Tasmania and Robmc and I have left Strahan and made our way to Tarraleah for a couple of nights. After a DNF in Queenstown we managed to find 12 others along the way. I was not too happy about the windy roads that went on and on and on! I was hoping we might see some sunshine and see the temperature rise once we started dropping from an 800 plus altitude but alas it didn't happen today.
Had to make a difficult turn to park for this one. The river was flowing rapidly today. Took a while for us to locate GZ. Signed log and left one of my Phryne - Rose pathtags here. Unfortunately, the TB dropped at the end of February this year has already done a runner - been taken but not logged out.
Thanks polfil

Day eight of our holiday in Tassie. Bettyboo3747 and I are traveling from Strahan to Tarraleah..
Today we turned left, turned right, turned left....isn't there any straight roads on the Central Highlands?
Some nice walks and some beautiful spots (and a few caches, of course!)
Some interesting looking paddling to be done here, but unfortunately we had brought the bikes and not the kayak!
So we admired the paintings and found the cache instead.
Thanks, Robmc.

what a beautiful spot, but gee the cache took some finding. geo trails seemed to be going every way and the coords in the middle of the road didnt help, but found it eventually. Loved the artwork on the bridge pilots, had meaning for me, but possibly also because i believe I know the person who does them. TFTC TNLN Favourite awarded for such a beautiful roadside stop.
Not the place for a swim today. The raging waters were not inviting. But the cache was enough for today.
We had a quick look for this cache as we headed west on Thursday. We had quite a bit of company in the carpark so had to be careful. The GPS had us both sides of the highway and under the bridge but we didn't find it.
On the way home on Sunday we called in again to have our lunch and after a sneaky PAH the say before we found it. Not sure how I missed it but it is much easier to search when you don't have muggle company. Thanks Polfil, I had never bothered stopping here before.

Hello polfil thank you for the cache.
I have been past this spot many time before while travelling west but have never stopped to have a look.
There was a lot of muggles at the rivers edge getting ready for a rafting trip so I started been very careful about my search. The GPS had me looking all over the place before it settled down to a spot behind the sign in spot. I started to get awkward when a group of the muggles came back up to sign in.
I explained what I was up to and they were only a little bit interested before continuing on there way. after I was convinced the cache wasn't near the sign in booth I widened my search and found it at the start of the walking track.
Thank you for replacing it It is a lovely spot.
This was one of many cache I found while travelling to Strahan to visit family and to go on a boat trip up the Gordon River.

Alas after an search that totalled about 30 minutes we came up with nothing.... We did however find a pencil that would fit a geocache... but no cache. But that didnt put a damper on things as we skipped stones in the river and admired the paintings under the bridge. Thanks for bringing us here anyway. We will be back on our next Tasmanian holiday.

Driving today between Derwent Bridge and (hopefully) Queenstown, stopping for as many caches as we were able to park the geovan nearby. It is a cold and wet day today, with a dusting of snow above 1100 metres..... We found all the planned caches today, just did not quite make it into Queenstown.
Arrived at Collingwood in time for a late lunch and found a rafter under the bridge, chatted to him for a while, when he told us 'someone' had rushed in, hidden something, and rushed out. He showed us where, we then had to explain about geocaching. Soo interested, I think we may have another convert. He originally thought it was some sort of "stash". (I note that at the time of my posting, no one else has found this cache today???)
The container and bag were in a bad condition, so I replaced the container, now a 1litre vitamin bottle.

Today was day 53 of our trip out of Sydney to visit the southern states of Victoria and Tasmania and day 11 of the Tasmanian part.
This cache was a very quick and easy find even though there was a muggle under the bridge packing gear in readiness for a paddle down the river. After the log had been signed the cache was replaced as found. Thank you for placing this cache for us and others to find.

Touring around Tassie exploring some of its natural beauty while grabbing some caches along the way.
We parked on the side road and like Felix we also encountered a group of rafters who were preparing for an eight day trip on the river. We had a good conversation with them as they were loading the gear into the rafts. A women from Queensland asked what we were doing there and before we could reply one of the young men said 'they are Geocachers!'- I guess the GPS held by aus2 was a dead giveaway! It's experiences like this that are an added bonus to geocaching itself.
We could see where to cache would be and as advised by comments in another log aus2 walked up to the Highway and approached GZ that way. Thanks for the cache and for placing it here polfil.

Travelling around Australia and spending a few months in Tasmania.
We left Bronte Park at lunchtime and made our way down the ever winding highway to Queenstown.
Able to find parking for the car and caravan here so a stop to find your cache was in order.
Mr Felix headed on down to this cache. He had to avoid the 3 buses of rafting muggles. A group from Ballarat University were
packing to raft down the river.
Some of them already knew about the cache and spied him with his gpsr and wished him goodluck to find the cache!'

I definitely took the difficult approach for this one much to the amusement of my (non-caching) friend. Decided on the easier less slippery exit option!

My grandad and I found this cache while on our third day of our Tasmania trip. We were travelling to Strahan for the next part of our trip.
We were a bit confused while finding a parking spot for this cache. We eventually found the dirt track that led under the bridge. The river looked quite peaceful during the afternoon, and the wildlife sounds were a bonus. I would suggest that the terrain rating for this cache should be higher - I had to scramble up a slippery slope and then cautiously manoeuvre around an obstacle.
Our thanks to polfil for breaking up our drive in the Tasmanian wilderness! It sure is a beautiful area/drive - although the road is quite windy.

Together with Silli1310 and Elmapa we went to Tasmania for three weeks. Today we went to Lake St. Clair. This cache came just in time to take a short break on our car trip. The cache was found quickly and we could sign the logbook. Thanks a lot for the cache.
On our [trip around the world](http://www.hoppundweg.piekar.de/) we came to Australia as well. We started in Tasmania, rented a campervan in Melbourne and went up the Eastcoast to Cairns. Then we drove all the way to the Red Centre. We finished in Darwin. We searched many caches and found almost every cache we searched for . Thanks to all the owners of these caches. Now, 2 years later, we recognized, we will never be able to log every cache seperately... So: Sorry for this standard logtext and thanks for one of the caches, which accompanied us on our journey.
