Hi Jimmymaff, just to confirm your suspicions, the northern half of the bridge was totally destroyed in the bushfires. A clean up has taken place and the earth is bare now, the remnant metalwork from the upper framework of the bridge is stacked out of the way for collection later.

Lovely ride from the farm stay a couple of k’s down the road. Lovely to see this great old trestle bridge. As for climbing up to find this cache... yeah Nah I don’t think so
Know where to look, but at 70 discretion is the better part of valour so I didn’t climb. Nice walk from Tostaree Cottages
Found with Crazy! Nat Girl while out exploring the rail trail and surrounding areas, we had a great time learning the history of the area along the way. Great bridge here, I climbed higher that I had to and thankfully spotted the cache on the way back down.
Thanks Jimmymaff for the cache.

On a Rail Trail trip through Victoria. Cycled out from Nowa Nowa to the bridge. Spent time at the bridge studying the engineering of the bridge. A great spot. I spotted the cache but it was beyond my climbing abilities. Thanks for the cache.
Found this one today after a bit of monkey business! Another amazing bridge. Thanks for bring us to this spot.
Yee hah! I agree! After the first little tightrope bit, it gets easier! I found the lid separately and was able to out the tin together again. Signing with one hand free was tricky!
The long weekend was here and it was time for fitzy_1965 and I to head down to Vic in the geo-unit for an epic geomission We had a great time camping, cruising around admiring the beautiful scenery and nabbing LOTS of caches! A great weekend of quality caching all round!
What a fantastic old trestle bridge! Up I went and thankfully it was a quick find. I'm glad I did not have to go further up!
Thanks for the hide, Jimmymaff

14717. Found during a long weekend caching run down through the Bombala / Genoa / Mallacoota / Cann River / Orbost / Lakes Entrance / Bairnsdale regions with specimenX.
A long weekend caching plan was hatched with specimenX to head down to Victoria for 4 days of caching and camping. Had a fantastic time driving around enjoying the scenery, camping at various locations, plus the huge number of caches to be found. Day Two dawned and we had survived the rain. Packed up and hit the road. Next find of the day. SpecimenX did her impression of a monkey and soon had cache in hand. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and headed off to find a camp site for the night.
Thanks to all the COs for placing their caches !!

On the way to Orbost, so Jan took the challenge to get this one and soon had it in hand. We've visited the bridges along this line before, love this one too.
Thanks Jimmymaff for the placement here.

My hubby is my monkey and i love him dearly. He located it with a bit of clever detective work. Loving these bridges. Thanks for bringing us here.
I took the detour to see this impressive trestle bridge this morning
As for finding the cache ...
... well that could wait !!
The timber was way too slippery in the wet this morning to climb with safety [:o]
Need an extension ladder for this one me-thinks

Monkey business indeed. The hint helped and this was a Bellsmith blakeman triumph. Thank you. It was a lot of fun finding it!
TFTC. Had a look, but climbing is one thing my wife wont let me do, and not being sure how high I should go, I will mark this as DNF, 70 years old is a bit past monkey business, thanks for bringing me to this great old bridge

Today we explored Orbost and surrounds using geocaching as a guide and picking up a few caches on the way and this was one of them. A bit of a stretch for Mr "T", got there in the end. Adding to our favourites. Love doing caches that bring you to places like this!!!!
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! Our journey started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island, before heading to Melbourne via Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Coorong, Mount Gambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park, Port Campbell, Cape Otway and Lorne, cramming in as much as possible on route. The second leg of our journey was a fabulous 9 days in Tasmania. Having then returned to Melbourne we set off on the third leg of our journey, which is to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota (where we are heading to at present), Pambula Beach, Thredbo, Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. After a visit to Sydney we will travel on to the Gold Coast, then after spending a few days in the nearby mountainous birding hotspots, followed by an overnight trip to Fraser Island, we will fly from Brisbane to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!
This is exactly the kind of cache my other half simply can't resist, and so it took no persuasion once at Ground Zero for the Monkey Business to begin (back home geo husband is locally known as the Savuti Gorilla)! The cache was then in hand soon enough, log book signed and then back down he came. Thanks so much for the cache - a great place to have hidden one - please have a favourite point!

What a great location to visit. Incredible structure and male membsec delighted to achieve the required physical dexterity to get to the cache.

Saw this bridge previously when we did the rail trail a couple of years ago so knew where I was heading. Found the cache after doing my interpretation of a monkey! TFTC
Searched high and low but unfortunately had to walk away empty handed on this one. Spent a while searching for this one but wasnt able to claim my smiley here. Maybe next time, thanks anyways Jimmymaff
Phew!! We found it!!! Glad we had the monkey up to climbing... LOL... Placed log in a mini zip lock bag we just happened to buy today... All protected!!! TFTC Good fun!!!
This cache was in a hard place to get at. My dad had to help me get there.

0930 GAFF1 When I read the cache page I thought it may be somewhat similar to a cache of mine in Wingham. But this bridge is in a LOT worse state. Pieces of wood were falling off in my hands as I searched for the cache. Found it in a suitable place, dry log and (a bit tatty tho) intact container, the log sheet could do with ziploc bag. I only had sandwich bags which are a bit big.

I was on my own on a road trip, so I planned to find a heap of caches today. This was number 5 of 13 for the day. At first I wasn't paying close enough attention to the last word of the clue, but then reading through logs I figured it out and it took only a few moments to find the cache. Thanks heaps. Fav point from me.
I got the feeling that i found a cache here before.
It could be another rail bridge somewhere.
All most got wet feet going to ground zero.
Thank you Jimmymaff for the hide

No luck today despite Ms Gamgee's atheletic ability. We will have another go when down in this area again. TFTC Great bridge
There are some beautiful specimens of these bridges around here. This one didn't disappoint, and the Moose made the find quickly. Thanks for bringing us here and for the cache.
TFTC great spot lived in area all my life and never been here SL oh the log is almost full
I looked at this structure and decided that I wasn't up for the task.
Will have to find someone to come out with me to "find" this one

Had looked at the ratings and thought I knew where I had to go. Hang on GPS distance in increasing so started the walk around in circles to see whether the distances had changed. Soon found myself at 1m. Oh damn it matches the clue. Nnnnnnoooooooo
Had a look round then started the climb. Being a short arse I don't like heights and was turning around to give up when I saw it. Cache signed. Log book not in the best condition but it will survive.
Just as I got 1 foot back on the ground the other sole of my shoe got caught on a bolt. Yes I still perform my own stunts. Maybe I was just up to some monkey business. Tftc

It seems to be a long time since anyone found this cache. Can report that the cache is in good condition. It is recommended to wear gloves (which I did not do) to avoid getting your hands full of splinters (which I did) when approaching the hide.
HHHMMMMM - thought that I'd have a go at this one until I saw what I had to climb..... Thought better of it and left my two feet firmly planted on the ground.
Thanks Jimmymaff for placing a cache on this bridge. It was the lure of finding a cache that brought me here and I enjoyed my visit.

I did do the Rail Trail ride over the long weekend, so this bridge is familiar to me. Unfortunately, I was with a group of muggles so didn't attempt this cache as we went past. Today as I was traveling west, I came back here.
I had a fair idea where the cache would be, but it still took a while to spot the container. A short uphill walk and the cache was in hand.
Thanks, Robmc.

We like these sort of caches, were you need to go the extra bit to retrieve. I make a good cheer squad and geoman takes up the challenge. TFTC
I was actually heading for a nearby cache when the road I was heading for (and shown on my map and incar satnav didn't exist! By the time I gave up on finding a short way to that one I was 500m from this one so came here instead! What a magnificent trestle bridge here, how many of these were built for the Orbost railway! Didn't check the star ratings and started looking where my GPSr took me which was right near the path with no sign of a cache. Checked the hint which pointed me to tge correct place but still no sign. Checked previous logs which had enough info for me to find what I was looking for. Now to retrieve it. A bit of rain made everything look really slippery but had a go anyway and got up there to get the cache, and get down without any dramas. It is certainly worth those terrain stars! Thanks to Jimmymaff for this one.
Found at 1:00:37 PM GAFF3. There are trestle bridges all over the place it seems! Thought the one at Neerim was the only one left.
There was no way you could get to this cache without reading the hint. GZ was right on the small track going between 2 trestles.
When we found the container, it was lying flat with the lid open. Replaced it with the magnet "operating" which now means that the container can actually be seen from a distance - if you know what to look for of coarse.
Thanks Jimmymaff

The whole area was quite wet after last night's downpour. Seeing the terrain level, I realised how it was going to be hidden, but I didn't feel like checking lots of spots, so I decrypted the clue immediately. That led to a quick find.
I find these bridges quite impressive feats of engineering, especially just being made from wood. I've now done a lot of these, quite a few on this old train line, and am never bored by seeing another. Thanks for showing me this one, and for the cache.

After picking up a few other caches in the area with geo family and friends I thought it was time for a bit of monkey business, once I finished hanging around for a bit we had cache in hand.

I was in Orbost for work today.
It was a great warm & sunny winter’s day
This was my third cache of three I planned to do on the way back home
I had decided to check this cache out as I had meet Jimmymaff the week before and we were talking about caches and he mentioned this one.
I cheated a little bit as I had ladder with me, so not to much Monkey Business for me.
Found the cache in the second place I looked.
Cache is in good condition

Came for a look at this one, half expecting that it would be beyond us, but on seeing the bridge we decided to give it a go. I was tempted to say that the ''monkey'' half of our team did the climbing while the ''business'' half stayed on the ground, but if I said that I would get killed - so I didn't say it - right - didn't even think it!! Anyway having gone up in the wrong spot first, we both had a go at climbing before making the find at 11:30am.
Great fun cache.

Headed off today for an afternoon away from the hustle and bustle of Lakes Entrance during the Life Saving Championships. Staying with djcache for a few days. Great bridge, as good as a number of others I have seen along this trail. Had the cache in hand and log signed fairly soon after arrival at GZ, the worn out knees complained for the rest of the day. 0934 +/- 30 minutes. Unreal #1: On the bikes at Bruthen 0545 so had met only 2 biking pairs by the time we got here. Dropping down to the silent dell with green sward girt by bush, we were greeted by a trestle rail bridge + "Wairewa Rd" sign and instantly transported back to NZ
Unreal #2: Only as we gained the foot of the trestles did we notice 2 heads over a small rise. As we started our hunt keeping low, trail riders arrived, then another ute, then riders, utes... (photo). Aaaargh! 9 riders, 5 utes and 9 Parks staff all congregating below the bridge as we were itching to find. We waited them out for about 30 minutes, restarted our fossicking and blow me down if 2 of the Parks people didn't come walking down the track again facing us. We gave it our best shot but had a bus to catch in Orbost at 2pm so a snap of the beautiful curving bridge and we were off. Just 0/2 of your welcome rail trail caches - sorry Jimmymaff.

3813. There was more investigation done than actual looking for this one. I couldn't pry the normal climber out of the car so up I went. Decided it wasn't there so three of us wandered around some more. Oh well, sandals or not I'm going up again to check out something we thought was suss. Nope - but as I looked around I was eye to eye with the cache. Yee-haa, second year in a row where I've scored a Christmas Day FTF. Probably the furthest from home FTF I've had too.
