We do like wherigo and went thru the village until we made it to the final stage. Despite the hint provided in the end we were unable to find the container. It is rated 1.5 so you should be able to find it within 15 min. I removed a lot of dead foliage in case it was burried but more likely it is inaccessible due to cuttings blocking the hide.Which leads to the conclusion that maintenance is required here.
Completed and then went to look for cache and can't see it. May want to check this one as lots of DNFs
We really love Wherigo's! Downloaded the files to our smartphones and didn't really had a lot of problems to help out the locals (although the GPS signal was a bit bouncy because of the trees, so we had to walk up and down quite a lot, what would everyone have thought.....
Unfortunately when we got to the last stage the program crashed and there's nothing we could do about it. Many thanks to the CO for letting us log this one as a FOUND IT eitherway!

Not sure if the cartridge performed as expected. TregearP and I got to the initial location and received instructions to run some errands. At the first errand location the location picture for the cache itself was displayed along with distance and bearing details. The message however said that the coordinates would not be provided until all errands had been completed. With no new task, no new locations and no inventory after completing the first errand we headed back to the start to see if we got a second errand. This didn't work though and we simply got the same message as at the start.
Like others, hunting for the cache itself was unsuccessful -many possible locations, but a lot of work has been done in the area so it may well have been covered or muggled.
Thanks for the motivation to revisit here again - always interesting and enjoyable.

We decided to spend the morning in Arrowtown, an interesting place. We managed to run the cartridge OK on a smart phone (well actually we completed it twice because we didn't take the time to read things properly!). Unfortunately we weren't able to locate the cache at the final location (we did wonder if the area has been buried under more cuttings etc).
On Tour together with Sabe73 as Team "TheBros" around South Island to visit some nice spots.
We also visited this location and could find the box almost quickly.
Thank you for showing us this place and of course for the Cache.
Greetings from Carinthia/Austria.

Greetings from West Sacramento, California! Papa EGTH and I are on Day 9 of our 19-day New Zealand honeymoon. We've been caching our way around the country and today found us just hanging around the greater Queenstown area on a resting day. Tomorrow we set off for Invercargill with a detour out to Milford Sound.
We love doing Wherigos (we've both completed and found just over 300 of them) and this cartridge was really well done! Our problem came when trying to find the cache. We spent over 10 minutes searching the indicated area, poking the dead leaves with sticks, but could not locate the container. It was quite frustrating and it was difficult to walk away, but short of moving piles of cut brush out of the way, we had to give up. Thanks for the historical tour!

HockeyHiker19 and I were on day 9 of our geocaching honeymoon in New Zealand. We like doing Wherigos and were able to run the cartridge without any problems. We were unable to find the container itself - after a good 15 minutes of looking. We're not sure if it is missing or we hadn't expanded our search radius wide enough.
I have to admit to only ever finding one Wherigo. It was in late 2010 and Fangsoki was doing much of the hard work with the cartridge loaded onto his pocket PC.
We found ourselves at Arrowtown and I had loaded an App (WhereYouGo) and the cartridge onto my Android phone. It took a bit to work out how to drive it but I eventually was picking up items and delivering the virtual objects to the righ places.
The history of the place was great and my wife and four year-old son enjoyed exploring the buildings while I wandered randomly around the place tapping madly at my phone. The cache was located and the logbook was signed without the muggles being any wiser.
Thanks for the cache phiki614. A definite favourite from me. Cheers!!

Just loved walking thro here. Last time I as in Arrowtown it was covered in thick frost and every where was covered in ice. And it was too slippery to try to look thro the settlement..and I abandoned the effort but today as glorious and I took photos which I will log once I am home In range of faster internet.
thank you for this little excursion thought the settlement.

It was not the plan to search for this Cache at first, but after I saw a lady poking around with a stick while visiting the Chinese settlement I got interested in this place and voila - an easy find without searching Thanks!
This was our second wherigo cache. We enjoyed walking around and seeing the great houses. TFTC
We werent sure if we were going to be able to even start this one today as we hadnt downloaded the cartridge onto our smartphone. But, as luck would have it, it was a very simple process that didnt need any syncing to a computer.
As we were in Arrowtown today, we decided we'd explore the Chinese Settlement and complete this Wherigo. Quickly figured out what we needed to do but then struck abit of trouble right at the end trying to obtain the final coords. Once we sorted ourselves out and realised where we needed to be, we got everything sorted and a short time later, the cache was in hand. Thanks for an awesome Wherigo that we really enjoyed completing! Fav point added, TFTC!

I loved this Wherigo. It brought the characters to life. Felt like I was on a virtual amazing race running errands.
I always enjoy these types of caches, so I always put them on the must do list when I am near one. There were a few people around today, but not enough to make this difficult. I soon worked out what was needed, but was having a little trouble working out how the game was put together, and how to make it progress to the next stage. After a bit of playing around it all came together, and I realised you could hold more than one item, which made the Whereigo much much quicker.
I was a little worried that I only got a distance at the end of the game and no co-ordinates. But thought there is only so many logs around so it shouldn't be too hard. Took the much harder, bush bash method of getting to the cache, but there is a much easier way to access it. Managed to spot it from my approach a few metres away.
Thanks for the Whereigo cache, please don't archive it!! See if you can adopt it out to a local cacher first!

I'll keep this open for now, just in case anyone wants to have a go at it.
However, next time I'm swinging by I will be removing it and archiving. Reducing the number of caches I have and this one is one of the furtherest from where I live, so it gets the chop.

Last summer the idea was born to visit [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green], together with [url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url]
After some important decisions regarding the beginning of our trip, the flights, the general route and the car were made, the most important question was still unanswered: which caches can we visit during our tour [?]
To get an answer for this topic I was fetching almost every cache from both islands [8)][:X]
[url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] and I love [Teal]'Geo-Arts'[/Teal]...so we added all these cache series to our wish list
After this decision was made this list was more than 300 puzzle caches long...unsolved puzzle caches
Two weeks before Christmas it was getting time to start solving all these mystery caches
Even with the different language I could find almost every solution
In the case I was not so successful I was contacting some of the CO's...and was always getting help from them...many thanks for this support [:X]
During the following weeks our cache list was growing and growing...meanwhile more than 1000 caches long...too long for a simple bookmark list from GC
Time to get our route and caches in sync...time to save the PQ's to our Garmins...time to start this holiday:
Chapter 10: [green]Invercargill[/green] to [red]Queenstown[/red]
Time to leave the southern part of [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green] and to go to the center of the southern alps: [red]Queenstown[/red] [8)]
On our way to this town with the stunning sceneries and the huge range of activities we also stopped for some caches [:X]
This wherigo cache was one of them
With two android players it was not so difficult to get to the chinese final
I would like to thank all the cache owners for showing us these great places and maintaining all these caches,

I didn't find this one today. I was using WhereYouGo on an android phone and had major problems with this one today. I went to the first location and saw the supplies but when I went to pick up the supplies I got an unidentified target error. I did get another location so went there and got told that I had to do the errands first. I then went to another screen and was given a general location of the cache but not exact coordinates. I had a quick search around but like the previous searcher there was white blossom all over the location where the cache was. I am not sure this Whereigo is working properly and maybe needs to be disabled to have the bugs taken out.
honestly: hated it. after stage 1 we were sent to hand over money, went there and were told to walk 10 metres north. there we received "congratulatiobs on arriving at the cache site" - wondered a bit, that this was the only errand we had to run, searched for ages at the old log, which wasn't fun at all after days of rain and millions of fallen white blossoms that cover the messy place.
when we eventually gave up, we looked like pigs. this wasn't fun at all. we appreciate that you took the time to create your first wherigo, but obviously you haven't had it tested sufficiently before publishing it. others before us wrote the same, so please do sonething against it to make sure not to steal innocent people's time. thanks for your understanding.

btw, we found a black telephone cable at the old log opposite of stage 1 - it looked quite fresh. anyone missing it?
After spending the night in queenstown we moved northwards. During our drive we passed Arrowtown and we made a visit in the small museum. The easy wherigo show us the way and gave us some information. Sometimes it was quite hard to enter the zones, but finaly we managed everything and after a while we foundthe final box. For me as an allergy sufferer it was quite hard, because the cottonwood was blooming. Thanks a lot for the nice entertainment.
On our way to Mt. Aspiring we stopped here and searched for the Wherigo. The story could be better and the zones are very small. The final wasn`t so easy to find.
No luck today!
I was spending the night here and really wanted to score this one. I made a great start and headed off to do my task. But I couldn't get the next item!!! I restarted and headed off again. I got two items and then I couldn't get any more. I started again. I must have walked and ran for a few kms. I gave up after 1 1/2 hours and my batteries were out. Oh well. Hopefully next time

A great accompaniment to wandering the chinese settlement here. I spent some time reading the panels and following the Wherigo and taking pictures, but eventually made it to the end. Then came the difficulty of searching for the cache and avoiding muggles. After a while it got quiet enough to search properly and I still couldn't find it. In desperation I turned data on on the iPhone to load some more previous logs, and a few older logs gave me the hint I needed to start looking in the right area.
Thanks for a fun puzzle!

Out for the day with the nieces discovering Arrowtown and surrounding areas - and discovering the odd cache along the way!
Really enjoyed this simple Wherigo and learning a bit about the local history. The actual cache took us a while to find as there had been some clearing work done at GZ and also our GPS signal was bouncing all over the place.

Beautiful day out wandering around Arrowtown. Enjoyed this cache but took awhile to find
Got in a bit of a muddle with this one. Did one of the errands, handed the money to Ah Lum and was given the cache area. Decided to complete all the tasks to see if we would get specific co ords but nothing happened. It just kept telling us to pay Ah Lum to get the co ords but on the tasks screen it said we already had.
Decided to search the cache area we had been given near the start and after a few minutes we found the cache itself. Took TB. TFTC.

This is our second wherigo cache and still do t think we're quite getting it and doing it right. However, we were given the coordinates and did find the cache. Dropped off a travel bug. TFTC
Downloaded the wherigo and tried to give it a go on a 4 day break down here. Started off successfully....delivered the first piece of kit, got some coins, gave them to the man.....and bam shortcut - the hint for the location of the cache - the Mrs was a little less than patient after 10-15 minutes and so I decided a DNF and another trip to Queenstown would be the best tactic.....there were a number of items that fitted the hint, it loked like there had been a bit of work done in the general area of GZ.....lots and lots of muggles around today so I had to put it in the too hard basket.....for now!
How lucky am I? Got an email yesterday to say that La Vista had found my sunnies - over two months since I lost them while failing to find this cache. They're a little the worse for their time in the snow and mud but repairable. Amazes me that of all the people to find them it was a cacher who also lives in Chch AND that it's someone I have met at several Events (and a couple of late night FTF attempts).
Thanks La Vista, you made my day!

Day 8 of the Crookedclan's great New Zealand holiday adventure, and I've bought the whole family back today for another go (and a look around Arrowtown whilst we are at it).
With a hint from Walandor (another Pete from Australia), I expanded my search a little and made the find. The offset to the final coordinates that worked for me today was S -1 E +5.
My first cache of this type - a great milestone for this trip.
Thanks phiki614

Today was day 7 of the Crookedclan New Zealand holiday adventure. Our first real sleep in, before a lunchtime date with a jetboat and the afternoon trip across Lake Wakatipu on TSS Earnslaw to Walter Peak station.
With the late start, I had two hours free to grab some caches. Just enough time for a drive to Arrowtown to collect a nearby old cache (and fill another hole in my Jasmer) and have a crack at this Whereigo (my first!)
I managed to get the technology to work and completed the tasks, and was rewarded by Ah Lum with the cache coordinates. However, I could not find the cache, despite my best efforts amongst the prickles, dodging muggles. With time running out, I had to abort the search and then drive like a mad man to Queenstown to catch the boat. Most disappointing!
I am hoping to return tomorrow for another try. Have contacted a mate (Walandor) who found this cache recently. Unfortunately, he was unable to provide any significant clues on the cache.
Thanks phiki614

Staying in Arrowtown for a wedding at nearby Stoneridge in weekend, decided to stay a couple more nights as was handy base to catch up with family members scattered around different accommodation from Wanaka to Queenstown. Have visited this site on previous trip, before the new info signage, so interesting to read the info & attempt the wherigo. Got to final GZ area but .... was such a wide wild area to search. Widened search ... no cache, but found a pair of dirty weathered sunglasses similar to ones that tokentess usually wears. We then raced off to catch the "meet & greet" event in Queenstown. Back at home have read past DNF logs - & will contact rincewind that we have found his lost sunglasses. Also, see that a geocacher has since found the final on a return trip (after our visit) ! Might be a while before we return but an interesting walk around a historic place.
In Queenstown working for a couple of days, so took the opportunity on a beaut day to visit Arrowtown and grabbed a couple of caches. I was trying to do this Wherigo on the Oregon, but sadly it was not working out - kept crashing it and not giving the proper info for the waypoint. I gave up after about 6 attempts and just walked around the settlement. At one point, which just happened to be the final location, I looked at the Oregon again and it gave me the info for the final! While a bit disappointed not to have the opportunity to get the whole experience of the Wherigo, I was relieved to be able to find the cache in the end.
I think I'll give the Oregon a miss next time I want to do a Wherigo and try the android app on my phone.

Visiting from Australia I had researched this one hoping to do it. I downloaded the iPhone app and downloaded the cartridge. I hoped it would all work ok. Arrived at the first guy and I wasn't given any tasks. So I moved around a bit and the I found all the inventory. The rest was easy. Found cache all on good order. Thanks very much for my first whereigo cache. Yay
I think this was our only DNF of the trip. Everything was frozen and Rincewind3 lost his expensive sunglasses. Downer.
No luck for us. Dad even looked three times, but twice he was really looking for his sunglasses. It looks like someone did find it after us so it was there all along.
My first DNF of our trip south. Got through the wherigo okay and was pointed to the GZ but with the amount of pruning material around and the fact that everything was frozen solid I had no joy. Even worse was the fact that I still couldn't find it when I came back to look for the sunglasses I lost. Note to self: don't tuck your sun glasses into your collar if there's a likelihood you'll have to bend over. (I couldn't find the sunglasses either). If anyone spots a pair of Ray Ban aviator style sunnies when in Arrowtown please let me know.
Wicked! Our first Wherigo cache. What a fantastic use of the technology and a nice simple introduction. Made all the more special by Autumn dampness and evening mist rising. TFTC. Took travel bug.
Found it at last at a safe place. A bit to much running for my taste but thanks for the effort for making this wherigo. Nice place! TFTW
During our wonderful travel from Christchurch to Steward Island we stopped here for a break. Lovely spot for a cache, and good to find. Many thanks for showing us around. We love Wherigos and this one was a very nice one! We really appreciated this walk
We spent a very pleasant couple of hours looking around Arrowtown today. We did this using the Wherigo App on an Ipod linked with a Garmin GLO GPS unit. Also enjoyed looking around the old Settlement looking at the buildings and information boards. GZ did appear to have become a dumping ground for prunings, but after rethinking things the cache was soon found safe and sound. Cheers and TFTC
This was quite an issue: Ah Lum refused to provide the final coords. I tried to convince him but had no luck... Was very disappointed and did some other caches in Arrowtown..
Went back for one last try and realised that I had done a tiny mistake. Now Ah Lum spoke to me and I was able to approach GZ
Many thanks for showing this awesome spot

Interesting location, good to see the old buildings still intact.
Unfortunatly for us after getting the final co-ords for the cache we couldn't find anything, it looks like the area may have had some tree trimming. Hope its not missing.

We have had a lovely stroll around the settlement and the geochildren really enjoyed the wherigo. Many thanks for placing this. TFTWIG.
Together with Geparderna we visited NZ for three weeks. We started with the Mega Event in Auckland. This last week we spent on the south Island.
We stayed on a nice motel in Queenstown with stunning views ower the mountains and the lake.
On our first day in Queenstown we drove to Cromwell and then to Wanaka. Home agian we take the way over the mountains.
We made a stop in Arrowtown. We really liked this little town. We took a walk on the main streeat and visited some stores. And after that we went to this Chinese Settlement. It was very interesting to learn some more about the gold rush in Arrowtown. We found the cache after some searching.
Thanks for the cache and greetings from Sweden

Together with Busther we are on a 3 weej visit in New Zeeland where we have attended the Auckland MEGA and now are doing some turisting and some geocaching while we are traveling from Auckland to Christchurch.
We had found a very nice motel in Queenstown with stunning vews ower the mountains and the lake. We were lucky and had a lovely weather with a lot of sunshine so we could dess in summer clothes.
After one night sleep we took the car for a trip to look at the area and to log some caches. Our goal for the day was to go to Wanaka and then an other way ower the mountains back to Queenstown.
After the visit in Wanaka we took the mountain road ower Cromwell range back to Queenstown. We did a last stop in Arrowtown where we took the opportunity to go this walk. It was really intresting (and sad) history. We give the cache a fp.
Thanks for showing this place and greetings from Sweden.

Staying at Arrowtown for holiday and thought great time to get all the caches in this area. TFTC.
Had fun doing this wherigo cache.
Had fun doing this wherigo cache.
Managed to deliver the candles, pipe, rice and shovel with Granville86a and deliver the money to the storekeeper in return for the co-ords, quickly found cache and logged the find, whoop whoop, love whereigo's
Found with Chosen1978 on trip round Wakatipu Basin. A great Wherigo. Loved the history of the settlement.
Found during fozzmiester's South Island adventure. Great fun was had with clever hides and stunning locations encountered along the way. Many thanks to the owners of all the caches found and the enjoyment which you provided.
A fun wherigo done on my android with no problems. Thanks for the cache and for the walk around this great location.

My first Wherigo, and a nice one to do. Only downside was my Oregon crashing a few times so had a few restarts before I started saving after each action. Busy area today, and lovely weather too. Having seen what this area was like 30 years ago, I am impressed with all the restoration work! Plums were delicious too. . TFTC phiki614!

Couldnt get our iphone to work properly with this werigo, which is a shame as we love werigo's and this looked like it might have been one of the better ones we have encountered.
An enjoyable but also frustrating wherigo experience. Great use of historic locations, but the zones were just too small. Even had to hide hard against one building to get it to trigger.
I enjoyed interacting with all the characters and reading some of their history when the zones triggered.
Cache found easily, by going around to other side. Laughter heard from the river and laughter too at the fun we had, thanks

What a beautiful spot, thanks for bringing us here. Enjoyed the wherigo and very happy to find the cache after completing the tasks. A family effort today with two teams competing against each other although Mr Bs team was at a disadvantage as his equipment wasn't working so well. Mrs B has just put one of these together in Nelson so we really appreciate the effort of making this Wherigo and really enjoyed exploring the area. Finding the cache was harder than we'd like to admit but had success when we came at it from a different direction! TFTWC

Well, this was a mission which took several visits before we finally got to sign the log. Mind you, it's a place which is well worth seeing several times. Many thanks to phiki614 for their assistance - we're very grateful!
visit 1) To start with, it took a while to figure out how to carry items around. I wondered why the items listed in the inventory disappeared as soon as you moved away from Ah Lum's store. Turned out that you have to individually go into each listing and pick up each item before you can carry it. Duh.
visit 2) Then it took a very long while standing at the first stop "here" before anything happened. But finally the relevant gentleman showed interest. Hooray, it's working! Save it!
visit 3) The rest of the wherigo worked like a dream. Fascinating information which added an extra dimension to the Chinese Village. Definitely earns a favourite. So we got the clue for the final - but oh dear, as previous logs said, taht put us in a disturbed area with fresh muck and cotton wood seeds covering everything. We poked around a bit, but it was in full view of the tourists (plenty of them in late afternoon), the sandflies were biting (had forgotten the repellent)and we had to get back to the crib to make tea. We'll be back...
visit 4) Oh no! The indicated GZ is now virtually inaccessible! Clamber, Contort, Scratched, Dusty, Getting funny looks from tourists Arrgh!
Bought 10 minutes of internet time and sent SOS to CO. They texted back encouragingly with a further clue...
visit 5) Try again, got to be here somewhere... but this is impossible terrain now. Give up, wander away. See a clue object some distance away in easy terrain, try that just for the sake of it. Oh, there it is, easy as pie. Hooray! Send grateful acknowledgement to CO!
so - if you are going to need to clamber, or get dirty, or get scratched, then you are looking in the wrong place. Think easy stroll, out of sight of tourists, nice "kosher" hide. And once again thank you phiki 614!

Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
We headed in to give this one a go before dinner, and after a very enjoyably walk around, we made our way to GZ. This is where the fun started. We searched for quite literally about an hour for the cache. For future finders, the cache is a bit further away than suggested in the cartridge, and there is no need to rummage around the pile. A great cache all in all once we found it though A great part of history here too A favourite from us [^]

Found at 12:03:00 PM. In Arrowtown doing a few caches and decided to try the Wherigo. It all went fairly well except my GPS froze a couple of times I quickly learned to save the game each time that a task was completed. All errands completed satisfactorily and a quick find after finding out where the cache was hidden.
Thanks phiki614

Our 6547th overall find.
Found on the "Gangsters" NZ Mega 2012 trip with steeba, The Rats and Farmer Frentzen. After a wander around the area our hearts sank when we got to GZ but we managed the find anyway.
Thanks phiki614 for the cache. Stats for our trip can be found here http://www.campersdownunder.com.au/geocaching/NZTrip/stats2.html

Found during 'The Gangsters' trip to New Zealand, being Big Matt, The Rats, steeba and myself.
This was a fun cartridge and despite the recent modifications at GZ the cache was found safe and sound.

Found as part of the Gangsters- The Rats, Farmer Frentzen and Big Matt and Shell- as part of our NZ Mega Event Tour 2012.
Many years ago I rode out here from Queenstown and had a bit of a look around. Today I was back and we toured around the old Chinese settlement- our reward was a cache in the end. Thanks!

The cart was a bit frustrating, partly because it seemed that it required a bit of back and forth trips, but mainly because the app needs an exact zero, which can take a while and some pacing around.
Still, I enjoyed the premise and the info and got there in the end.
I was amused that Su Song's den of gambling, drugs and whores has apparently been deemed Not Suitable and the sign removed!
It was hard to pick out the cache-sign disturbance from all the clearing and earthworks, but I eventually spotted it and signed the log (after all the other Aussies! )

We had a pretty straightforward experience with this wherigo. Took a few moments to get the GZ at each location with our Oregon, but we didn't have any problems completing our tasks. We started looking for the cache where our GPS was pointing but Mr AustTrackers found it without scrambling through the bush unlike Mrs AusTrackers.
We enjoyed this cache and we paid much more attention to this history lesson than we would have without the wherigo - so thanks for that. We left a pathtag for the next finder.

Found this cache as part of the Gangster's Aussie assault on the first NZ Mega with Big Matt, FarmerFrenzten and steeba.
This was an interesting cartridge that provided some cool history. Like others we thought GZ had been comprimised but we eventually found the cache.
Thanks

Arrrgh... My whereigo app refused to cooperate for this one - I couldn't pick up any of the items, so was unable to make any deliveries
This was the first time I had participated in a whereigo cache.
It was more sensitive than I expected but, considering I have been to Arrow Town twice before, It took me to find things I hadn't seen. Lots of good story to read.
The final GZ was a little on the frustrating side to find.

Found with Sam walker's while visiting for the NZ Mega. This was the reason for me to go to Arrowtown. Had the cartilage in my gps from home and it was a must do. Got to the start of it and worked our way through it until we had completed everything we had to do. After a long search and Sam Walker's waiting for muggles to disappear I asked young Sam walkers to search a participial place and he came up with the find. Great little cache and thanks for the history on the chinese. TFTC
Day 7 of our New Zealand Trip along with
SEMIK And Flipper & Co
Todays Drive is from Cromwell to Queenstown and back to Crimwell
We are slowly heading down to Dunedin for New Zealands First Mega Event
I had trouble getting the tasks on the Oregon 300 and then finding the final was a challege, we thought it had been lost under all that stuff. But then i came in from a different way i found it . I really nice Wherigo, y first in New Zealand

All the whereIgos this group has done before weren't arranged quite like this (what to do next was more clear) however since we had both an oregon and an iphone playing we compared notes and quickly figured out what to do. (only had 17% of battery left on the iphone, so had to work efficiently). We really enjoyed the background info and seeing the old settlement. thanks for the hard work even though we struggled at the beginning and the end (recent earthworks really had us doubting whether we'd find it, but it is there and safe). thanks!
GOOD HISTORY - loved our stop off in Arrowtown, Gayle had been here back in 2003, this time bringing the geocache travellers back, brought back some nice memories as well. Very nicely set up whereigo - we must have a go at doing one of these some time too.

One of the most well constructed wherigo caches we've done! Liked the premise and the little tour of the area. At GZ we got worried with lots of recent works, but found the cache safe and sound.
Have to look more into how to complete a Whereigo using the iPhone. The items all came up as "nothing available" but I couldn't work out where I needed to be to find them. Had a lovely look around tho:) and we will be back for another go soon.
5771. [font=Century Gothic][green]Took me ages to work out that you had to double select to get things to work properly. Once that was figured out it was fairly straightforward. A nice area that kept FFP busy tasking photos while I mumbled my way around through the village and on to the final point. [/green][font=Verdana]

Rated: for Overall Experience
Mrs G had a conference in Queenstown to attend; what better excuse needed to bring the rest of the family for a bit of a holiday?!. Came out to Arrowtown for a daytrip. I was excited to try this Wherigo & make it my very first....but alas, no. Took a few twiddles with my Oregan 450 to work out what I had to do, then it was easy and I was underway. All tasks completed very quickly. But I'm blowed if I could find the final. Maybe all the useful satellites that I had just been locked on to suddenly hid behind the hills. First GZ (Happy Hunting) was 4m in front of the feature (in the tangle of undergrowth), then next time I rechecked it was 4m behind the feature (in another tangle of undergrowth)...then GZ was 20m behind & up the hillside. Saving the cartridge & reloading it just gave the same widely varied results. Very frustrating. No previous logs indicate a problem with locating GZ (apart from the undergrowth). Not sure why I couldn't pin it down. Very frustrated that I couldn't sign this one off. Spent so long trudging around that I ran out of time to find any other caches in the area....grrr....
Did this with TheMcKains on a day off from Snowboarding in nearby Queenstown. TFTC
My 2nd WhereIgo and they are good fun.
However, the owner might consider relaxing the requirement to stand EXACTLY on the right spot before the next clue comes up. If the GPS accuracy is out, it makes you walk into trees! Anywhere within 5m would be fine! You get a favorite vote from me anyhow, for the effort you put in.

This was my first WhereIGo... Went with HuntHiHuntLo. This is a great way to see historic sites. TFTC.
Yeah, my first wherigo-cache in NZ... and nice one. I liked this game real much but unfortunately I have lost the game by the 3rd man so I started again and saved the game for sure... The second attempt was OK. TFTC!
This was a very nice concept for a Wherigo, but gave us such trouble that we were unable to complete. By persevering we got right through to the final step, having to walk around a lot at some locations to get the next stage to pop up, but after 90 minutes we were out of time. Nice idea, but the cartridge was really playing up for us today.
This was fairly straightforward with our Oregon 450. The whereigo enhanced the visit and we had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. The vegetation was a bit intrusive at the final location, but I managed to forge a way through, agree with the comments about pussy willow! Thanks for setting this up
Coverage for this one was dodgy, as I was using my phone, and the hills and trees made the GPS patchy. Got to the last one and got an error, and thought oh no - will have to start again, but then it gave me the clue for the cache location - and voula - found the cache!
Pussy willow is hard to get off!

The experience was somewhat frustrating with an iphone/telecom combination not giving accurate co-ords (had to wander around and around the target zones).
Apart from that, it added an interesting layer to an interesting place - thanks!

A really interesting historical spot that the WhereIGo showed off very well. They would have been harsh times back then and the little huts looked like a pretty tough way to live matter yet what the winter working environment must have been like. TFTC.
My first wherigo, and a lot of fun, especially since most of the paths were covered in snow/ice - it must have been freezing here in winter a hundred and fifty year ago, no pink batts, nothing, just a drafty place... brrrr... TFTC and taking us around here
Nice wherigo! That was fun. My third wherigo thus far, and I think they’re awesome! (And my mum’s first wherigo!)Thanks for the creation of it!!
Luckily there weren’t many people around, so it wasn’t too hard to get and all. (I can imagine the stealth needed in summer!)
Cute houses though, and its crazy to imagine that they lived in such tiny little houses! (And I have no idea what in the world they would have done in winter ae!!)
TFTC!! (And Wherigo!! )

Used "PiGo" on an iPhone for this Wherigo. Some trouble with variable GPS reception moving the target "zone" around at each step, but managed it in the end. Good history lesson - thanks. TNLNSL.
Really enjoyed this wherigo - did it on our Oregon 550 with no probs. Lovely and interesting walk through the settlement, think jillopy had been here before on a school trip 15 years ago! TFTC!
Fun game, good interactive history lesson. Thank you. The Android client "whereyougo" is a bit fiddly, but we managed. Found the cache quickly but didn't find the unlock code. Plus android client "whereyougo" doesn't export gws files to claim the cartridge on whereigo.com
A really well themed and informative wherigo. We find things go wrong in the field so we'd played it all the way thru at home and just as well as we had the spoiler photo in our faulty memories but were able to retrieve enough of it to help for the find. We know enough to save often but didn't and lost it at 4th wp while struggling out of down vest. Didn't expect the nice weather. Ran back to start over and sun came out and had to redo the wherigo dance at each point as they'd moved 5 metres or so. Used an Oregon. We discvd but didn't take the TBs and put a pathtag in so PINO. A fav - thanks for the effort which went into this.
Did a few mistakes to start with. When done right it is not too hard. Used my Android phone to do it
We enjoyed the time we had when our tour stopped in Arrowtown. Great town. TFTC
My first NZ Wherigo. I was on a Tandem Bike Tour of NZ and stopped at the Chinese village while the others were at the Bakery. Very fun. Left 2 TBs from the states. Vort.
