1421 for the tribeThe lure of a caching powertrail up this formidable structure was too much to resist so we set out to tackle Walsh's pyramid. Left just after sunrise at 6:15 and returned exhausted but satisfied at 1pm, after finding 13 of the 14 caches searcher for and replacing the missing 14th cache. Some awesome DT combos were found. There has been a fire through here since a Geocacher last visited, thankfully most of the hides are intact although some have been attacked by other critters. Mercifully the weather was good. Got passed by a lunatic who did the pyramid twice in a row before I even summitted once! I found a few on the way up when I needed a rest, and most of them on the way down including the bottom 5 or so. That seemed to work well. This was a great spot to stop on the ascent. This cache was in great condition. The log and pic from GC_Diver were helpful. Thanks Charltons Pride for placing and to everyone for maintaining.

With the mystery caches already solves we set off early in the morning to hike up the pyramid on 21/8. We decided to summit first and then get all the caches on the way back. After making it to the top in approximately 1 hour 20 minutes, we started the much slower process of finding caches.

We made it down to Burial Chamber final coordinates, however was unable to locate the cache. Some of the trads had taken longer to locate than expected and the lack of breakfast was starting to lower geosense so we decided to call it and head down.

Today I returned and ran back up to the Burial Chamber cache and quickly located it, from there I quickly located and signed the final 5 lower caches.

A great hike and a great series of caches.

Bucket List ... TICK
Our number 8 on the top 10 Australian mountains to climb according to Australian Geographic !!!
Bloody tough climb, but so worth it, and the BONUS of 14 of 16 geocaches found on our arduous journey to the summit, only 1 DNF and 1 Did Not Attempt...
Loved the Egyptian theme for all the caches, some clever puzzles and tough hides, we had an awesome day and thanks for your contribution walterhellmut to make it even more special with geocaches to break the climb, love your work

We stopped at this point on the way up for a break and had a look at the map. It was a good place to pause, open the Mandarin and sit for a few minutes. We noticed there was a geocache nearby, and so had a very cursory look, however with some walkers heading towards us we decided to wait for the return journey.
On our way back down, always quiet and we were glad to finally arrive at this location to stop and sit on the rocks once again.
Just off the Trail,Mrs Domsky spied something suspicious, and there was the lovely Hide.
Thanks walterhellmut for placing all of these.
This mountain was a target for us before we had arrived in Cairns, and we were so happy to do the walk and have beautiful weather at the top.

The second cache found today as I attempted the climb of Mt Walsh. My plan was to leave most of the caches for the return journey, and concentrate on getting to the top of the mountain before it got too hot. As it happens I took a rest break here, (#17 of 278) and noted that there was a cache not far. To be honest I was taken aback that this was only the halfway mark. Surely that is just practical joke graffiti?
A quick search uncovered the cache container tucked away. All good here with the log book. My name was entered and the cache container returned. Thanks for the cache hide Charlton’s Pride. I was glad for the rest. Cheers

Why does it say half way after 2km? What did we miss? Definitely not the cache, which is okay and safe. We're not feeling okay anymore, must be the age, it's bloody exhausting climbing up that hill.

In Cairns for a few days to catch some sun (less so today). Spied this series and got excited about a great walk.

This one was placed earlier than the the series and is a great rest spot. I had the cache 5m higher. See GC_Diver's spoiler. TFTC CP

This morning we decided to climb this mountain. Starting at 6:15am at the car park it took us a few hours up and stopped for a few caches and a drinking break on the way up. Collected about half of the caches so there is a reason to come back.

Thanks for the great hike and nice caches!

Half way up I couldn't find this cache Sad

finally revealed that this cache is still here to be found Big Grin

We are half-way heroes today! What a great climb this was. We deferred looking for this one on our way up since many climbers were resting here. So we went to the summit first then got it on our descent. Thanks for the photos with arrows to help us find this one - they helped a lot.
Cache is nice and dry. We were the first to sign the new log book.
Thanks for all concerned in placing and maintaining this cache.

Good Day,

This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).

I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.

Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Woohoo! Half way Smile I thought this a good opportunity to sit for a bit and catch my breath. After a photo was taken of the somewhat smokey view I hunted about for the container.

It didn't take long to discover what was left of the geocache Sad Unfortunately the recent fires took the life of this one and all that is left is a melted blob at GZ. I'm sorry to say that I didn't have a spare container with me at the time so couldn't help replace it. I have added a photo for proof of find. This one needs a little TLC.

Thanks for bringing me to this lovely location thanks for the smiley Charlton's Pride Big Grin

After making the iconic trip up to the very tip of Cape York Big Grin we were sure to make time to find some caches and do some exploring while we were in far north Queensland Cool We have been having a terrific time and have now found ourselves in Gordonvale for a few nights,

Mr Just a Trifle decided to tackle Mt Walsh while we were here and set off early in the morning to see how he went We had managed to solve a few of the puzzles, but no doubt there are probably some unsolved puzzle caches that he walked past along the track Twisted It was quite a bit of a slog, but eventually most of the caches were found and Mr Just a Trifle was very relieved to return to our camp site for a rest Surprised

The container was easily found and with our name added to the log book, we continued on our way.

Thank you Charlton's Pride for having placed the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy Cool

Solved all the puzzles in advance and set off to conquer the pyramid with Team BlackPearl 26 - Admiral Alex, First Mate Blackbeard (Danny) and the Samoan Picaroon (George).

We hiked Frederick's Peak (In Townsville) yesterday and have done some other long walks before but we (all except George) we were suffering for most of the difficult climb (and the downwards decent).

We left the car at 10:30am and made it back 5 hours later at 3:30pm after collecting all the prizes and pausing for photos and fatigue at regular intervals.

HALFWAY!!! You must be kidding me. 2KM! to go. Argh!
George says "Surely they must be a cache here at halfway? How about this one" as he hands it to me Smile Happy to sit and rest while signing the log and trudging on.

Thanks for the challenge and the beautiful views. If it wasn't for caching I would never have come here. The legs aren't so thankful but they will recover and the memories will remain.

Another one done. Woo Hoo! I love the challenge of the geocache hunt - read the notes, decipher the cache requirements, and go searching for the hide. This is an amazing world-wide game of hide and seek. I love it! I also enjoy caching with my family, and meeting fellow cachers. It really is a small world when I read over cache logs. **Thanks go to Charlton's Pride** for placing this cache and maintaining it. It's a great contribution to the Geocaching community and much appreciated.

I did my trip planning the night before, got up at 5am and checked out of the hotel, went for a drive then went for a serious walk starting at 630am. I enjoyed finding this one at 8:08:21 AM.

On previous visits we have eyed off the walk and the caches up the pyramid. Knowing we would have this trip out of the wet we got busy solving the last of the puzzles. We has hoped for an early start but did get away as planed to find 6 other cars already in the car park. We generally tried to make the finds on the way up which helped with much needed breaks although we had to wait out some resting muggles near a couple. It was good having the photos from the cache page as it help narrow down the hides. Chicken Itzer was probably the hardest find. Just before half way we came across some muggles coming down who recommended going no further as they though the views from the nearby slabs were great and did not think the top would be any better. Little did they know we had several other motives to get to the top with still a number of good caches to find. We lost a pen some where near the top probably on one of the scrambles but picked up a spare once back at the car. Great views along the way and our later planed start saw us suffer in the heat more than we

Several years ago ( make that many) I could see this little hill in the distance every morning when we sat on the front veranda of our house in Cairns. I no longer live in the area but was back for a visit as part of the CAFNEC Far North Wilderness Tour (bike ride).

Strangely in those days even though much younger (late 1980's) I never would have considered climbing this little hill or thought I had the capacity to do so. Wind forward 20 years and after almost 10 years of geocaching and presto- here I am.

I was lucky enough to have a friend from Innisfail volunteer to accompany me but the trade off when being with a non geocacher is (a) don't stretch the friendship where clearly they are impatient while we caches poke around under rocks (b) set a time limit for your journey with rewards at the end (read -pub meal)

Hence I did not get to complete all the caches on this little hill and had a few DNF's (limited time search).

The good news is now I still have to come back another time Cool[^] A must do experience when in the north. Cool

For several months we have been talking in the Townsville group about a joint attemt on the Pyramid. For my part it has been a lot about getting company to make sure that I really get to do it.
Had booked a long weekend at a campsite at lake Tinaroo when dazzpete sent out an invitation to join them, I was quick to take on the challenge on part of myself and the rest of my small team.
The big day arrived and we left our tent at 05:30 to meet up for a 06:30 start.
A short rest to let some muggles going down pass before quickly finding the cache Smile
Even if it was hard to get here, my certainty over making it to the top grew as we passed this point.
Thanks CO for giving me a reason to take on the Pyramid and dazzpete for actually making me do it!

Centocampisto had eyed off this adventurous tour back in Germany and sat down to solve the puzzles.

Today was our last day in Cairns and we took to opportunity by leaving the kids in the resort to climb this very challenging pyramid. And a challenging pyramid it was certainly was!! It was hard yakka for both of us. But the beautiful scenery and nature around was a great treat for all the sweat that we lost.

Some of the caches we found easily and others we had to widen our search because of the GPS signal. In hindsight, I was glad to see that snake crossing my path on the way down the pyramid otherwise I would have left one or the other cache on its path.

Thanks for this adventure!

Finally we could find no more excuses to leave it for another day and arrived at the base at 6.30 am to try to stay as cool as possible on the hike.

Together with Silli1310 we went on holiday for a year. If you have so much time, of course you have to visit Australia. After spending just under a month in Tasmania, we drove north along the east coast for another 2 months. Today we took a day trip from Cairns to climb the Walsh Pyramid. It was extremely hot and the sweat flowed accordingly. Besides the hike, there were of course a few geocaches with interesting D/T scores on the agenda. Fortunately, there were plenty of them, so you had small targets to get to the top. Thanks to four eyes, it didn't take us too long to search and we were able to sign the logbook. Many thanks for the cache.

On our [trip around the world](http://www.hoppundweg.piekar.de/) we came to Australia as well. We started in Tasmania, rented a campervan in Melbourne and went up the Eastcoast to Cairns. Then we drove all the way to the Red Centre. We finished in Darwin. We searched many caches and found almost every cache we searched for Wink. Thanks to all the owners of these caches. Now, 2 years later, we recognized, we will never be able to log every cache seperately... So: Sorry for this standard logtext and thanks for one of the caches, which accompanied us on our journey.
