Thanks to everyone who enjoyed the series. Have managed to speak with lots of you afterwards and we are pleased that the Albany 100 did give everyone a buzz as well as being a drive through some nice countryside. Too bad that maintenance to keep the 100 intact became a bit difficult. Have fun everyone.

Completed these a while ago but didn't log them because I didn't get the last nine or number 84. Now as they sadly go to retirement I must log them 10 shy of the full compliment.

travelled down to albany with mickeydv after we heard the 100 was going to be archived at the end of the month, we found 92 out of the 100 caches, missing out on 41, 75, 76, 86, 94, 95, 96, 98 some of which hadnt been found for months so we didnt try too hard. It took us about 5 and a half hours to complete. It was a great experience, many thanks tangowithcupcake

power trails have been a controversial topic amongst cachers worldwide over the last couple of years. Having now completed one, I must say I am all for them!
When done properly like this one they offer another side to caching.
Such a shame it is being archived, but having experienced the trouble of maintaining a series of merely twelve I completely understand.
Have been meaning to complete this since the moment it was published.
Had lost intrest in caching over last 3 months...fortunately I had previously passed the GC bug onto my son col117. When he came up with the idea of doing the 100 I readily agreed as not completing wouldve have left a serious hole in any WA cachers cv.
As Col stated 92 out of 100 in 5.5hours.....'fair effort' as Col would say.

Staying in Albany for a few days and decided to have a crack at the Albany 100, got through 76 out of 78 attempts today ... Had lots of FUN TFTHs

Found most in the series, even though we only recorded the values for B, D and F we were still able to locate the 100th cache by applying a bit of logic, guess work and luck. Definitely couldn't find caches 76, 91, 94, 95, 96 and 98. Took the iPad on it's first caching run and it saved a lot of time as it was quick to change from cache to cache and navigate within a few meters of each cache. TFTC

Geohubby and I are touring in this beautiful city, we are originally from Adelaide. We were delighted to find we had the opportunity to do this series of caches if we were quick....had until the end of the July school holidays. As soon as the weather cleared up we packed some lunch and headed off. We left the caravan at 8.00am and arrived back at 5.45pm and in that time we managed to find 88 caches.....we tried for 99. I'm sure we will never have the opportunity to get so many in one day again. For the elusive #100 we missed one of the co-ords...don't know if it was in a cache we found, but forgot to record the co-ords from the clue or if it was in one of the caches that seem to have gone missing in recent times.
We spent some time as it was going dark experimenting with various numbers for the missing co-ord but with no luck. Back to that spot again next morning to repeat our efforts trying all numbers from 0-9 but still no luck. Finally we decided to appeal direct to *tangowithcupcake* and plead for some help in order that we might log in the final cache. A response was almost immediate (thanks again tango) and we headed back out with the missing co-ordinate plugged into the Garmin. GZ was exactly where we had searched earlier in the morning but being confident of GZ we were happier to "poke" about in the pine needle carpet and within seconds had the final and last cache.
We found all but numbers 25,38,46,47,75,76,86,94,95,96, and 98. Many of these numbers had several previous DNF's, but numbers 47 and 75 we were unable to search for because of nearby muggles. Number 47 had the busy roadside pruner at work with his fancy machine (also encountered by urch in a previous log) and at number 75 we were questioned by a forestry worker asking if we were lost.
It was great to be able to look for so many caches in safe roadside pull offs and in relatively muggle free areas. The log sheet which *tangowithcupcake* had made available also made record keeping much easier.

The possibility of bagging 100 caches in a day has greatly added to the pleasure of visiting this beautiful city and for that we thank you very much tango.

This was a great fun marathon to celebrate my birthday. Dragged hubby along to act as driver while I climbed in and out of the car 100 times over a 6 hour period. Weather was generally quite kind to us with just a touch of intermittent drizzle. Ended up only finding 87 of them though. One was dismantled and lying about the place, a couple of GZs looked like clearing had been done. At one stage met a machine pruning the verges and overhanging trees with a huge machine who was eventually tracked us down and questioned what we were up to. Many of the caches' logs were damp, some unable to be written on. We ignored caches that had previous DNFs as per Tango's suggestion.
All in all, a most exhausting but most memorable day for my caching memoirs!

Can't say I remember all the caches to make a reasonable log for each, so this is a cut & paste.

Robmc and I began our quest at around 7.20am and finished it about 5 hours later.

In the end we found 94 of the hundred, missing out at 75, 86, 94,95,96 and 98 for good measure.

Had a great start to caching today and continuing on round some of the hundred thanks again for the Albany 100 tangowithcupcake

Okay, similar story to the last few times at the series, drop the kids at school, drive on to start off where I left off. Forgot the log sheet to check off what I found and DNF and to mark off the smileys for 'The Big One" so had to resort to the Mk1 Back of Hand. Kicked off fairly quickly and was in mode until I got to 75. My first DNF in the series (I will be back, failure is not an option)Was standing at the back of the car trying to get some phone signal when out of nowhere a jogger muggle was doing her thing and taking a few years from my life on her way past. Had to abandon 75 after a fruitless search. Similar story for me at 86 where I got interrupted by a cocky making sure I was alright and another couple of DNF's thrown in at 91, 94, 95 and 96. By then I think fatigue was getting me and I still had to get back home by 2pm.
Did phone a friend a couple of times to make sure of what I was looking for which did help in one way or another.

Will do a bit more homework before heading back out to finish them off.

Great idea for notching up some caches. Spent 9 hours driving round in the sunshine, literally following in the tyre prints of Team Cracker. Managed 91 but missed the last co-ordinate for 100th and daylight/fatigue got the better of us.

Found it in the company of Nickleth .Visited all 100 sites – found 97. Nos 96, 97 & 99 will have to wait for a return visit to Albany. We were picked up by Nickleth at 7.00am and returned at 3.00pm – 8 hours including two lengthy breaks for morning tea and lunch.

Stopped by today with kellyxley and Fiona on our way to Albany for the weekend. Started around 2.00-2.15 pm at 56, "working" for around 4-4.5 hours, and stopping at 99. Missed 92, 96 and 97, and were really tiring out by that stage. TFT series!

Duncdonut73, Princess Fiona and I arranged a weekend away in Albany to take on the Albany 100 and attend the events organised by TangowithCupcake and others. We started the 100 at No.56 on our drive down and went through to 99 before heading to our accomodation. TFTC and thanks for the series.

It took me 8 hours and six minutes to complete the run with the first cache falling at 09:39 and the last one at 17:45. The grand total for the day was 90 finds, with 9 caches remaining to be found, plus of course the final mystery cache. Because I was missing one digit I didn't try for number 100 in the series. The first DNF came up on the 25th cache, the remaining problem caches for me were 41,42, 53, 75, 86, 92, 96 and 97, these will be completed on another day. It soon became apparent that I was following Austrackers around the series, finding their signature in the logs. I was joined at number 20 by jacaro44 picking up on their missed and remaining caches. I must say the shower at the end of the day was good, just to wash off all the dust and grime collected while searching. Unfortunately I was caught at the side of the road during one of the last caches when a truck passed by, think gravel road and fine dust, I will leave the rest to your imagination.
Thanks for the series its certainly the most number of caches I have completed in a day.

We hadn't really thought about trying to break our record of finds in one day (prior to this, 33) but when these were published it was like we were presented with a challenge and a perfect opportunity to do so. We missed the last birthday bash so we decided to combine the two and stay in beautiful Albany an extra day or two.

We only DNF'd 3 caches on the day's run but we gained a hint from some fellow cachers along the way, so we returned to number 42 after we had completed number 100. No's 92 and 97 have yet to be found but hopefully we will be back after the weekend event as we are sure someone will be kind enough to drop us a clue

We targeted to complete half of this series on day one today, but pushed onto No 64 before retiring for the afternoon to celebrate Grandsons birthday. We continue to express admiration and gratitude for the work tangowithcupcake have put into this series simply for the enjoyment of their fellow Geocachers. Great job!

Wanting to escape the heat of Bunbury, the lure of the Albany 100 was enticing in more ways than one.It look us 8.5 hours to complete the circuit with a success rate of 97%. Hats off to the team that did it in 6.5 hours - they must have been in turbo thrust all day! Number 88 was our first DNF followed by 93 and 95. We completed the first 30 in 1 hour 50 minutes, and the first 80 in 5 hours 45 minutes. The final 19 slowed us down heaps, either we were tired or they were harder to locate than the first 80.
Congratulations to Tangoandcupcake for the effort required in putting something of this magnitude together - I can assure you the majority of cachers will appreciate it.

Ok so where would you go for a long weekend without the kids? Albany of course to tackle the 100! What a day of caching, our previous best in a day is 15 and we have done that today in less than an hour!

This was a well planned adventure, think of the moon landing, climbing Mount Everest or finding the source of the Amazon!

The kids were being looked after for the weekend, our Albany accommodation was booked (Apartments on Spencer, boutique B&B - we highly recommend it), the bags were packed the caches loaded on the GPSr, essential supplies of snacks, drinks, insect repellant and spare batteries (glad we took these). The Jeep was fueled up and we were ready to head out into the unknown.

We found the first cache at 09.19hrs after a bit of a search and hoped the others would be a bit quicker or we would still be hunting at midnight!

Number 19 was our 400th cache and we found #20 by 10.21, not bad just over an hour for our first 20. Number 30 was grabbed at 11.02.

The next ten took us 50 minutes, our pace was slowing. We disturbed a snake at #39 which did put us on edge when hunting for the next few hours.

Our fifty came up at 12.21, just after three hours of hunting. Still no DNFs. We were on fire! By 1pm we found #60 and had lunch on the roadside at #62 (13.10-13.37!). 63 to 70 we blitzed in fifteen minutes, we found #70 at 13.52 and then onto 80 by 14.30. Only twenty to go we could be finished in an hour, but this is where things started to go wrong!

Our first DNF #81, followed by four difficult finds, all seemed to be buried under loads of deep leaf matter making them very hard to find. A highlight was the clever camo of number 86.

87 and 88 were two more DNFs despite very thorough searches, turning over every rock, branch and piece of bark as well as digging through the leaves and debris at the base of every tree, examining every stump and log and then checking in the trees - we really wanted all 100.

Then two more difficult finds (again the caches were buried deeply and took a lot of digging, poking and searching. Number 90 was found at 15.50.

We then DNFed 91, 93 and 96. But managed to grab the last three with 99 at 16.45. We tried to figure out the co-ords of 100 but decided to head back to the accommodation. By this point we were exhausted, covered in dust, scratches and I am sure we will find some bites, we were also in desperate need of a cup of tea! We will have a look at what we have and try to figure out the final caches location before we head back up the Albany Highway.

Sunday we went back with our guesstimate for the co-ords for #100, we must have been way out as it wanted us to head to the tip! Not to be defeated we then contacted the owner to see if he can offer us some help, thankfully he came up with the goods and we were able to grab 100 before we headed back to Perth on Monday morning.

A great day, we have seen some fantastic (green) country-side. 94% is pretty good and we really enjoyed the challenge and had some great laughs on the way. I am thinking of making an official looking badge with "official stump, log and rock inspector" on it!.

Sarah and I started at 8:30am and collected the first 40 by 10:40am with a 10 min break in there, so a 20/hr find ratio. #41 stumped us for a while, spend about 20 min searching for that one, but found it just as we were about to give up. #50 at 11:25am and #70 at 12:25; back to the 20/hr. We had lunch at 12:40 at #75 and meet 'Rainbow Coasters' and 'Mijifly' who came back to find #75. Started slowing down a bit after lunch... made it all the way to #86 finding all the caches... and then couldn't find #87 or #88.. the only other one we couldn't find was #93 but many people have had problems with that on - could be missing? Found #99 at 4:00pm - 7 1/2 hours of pretty solid caching. We were missing 1 letter/number clue, but a bit of calculated guess work landed us the #100 mystery cache in the first place we looked. Thanks for a great series and the effort gone into setting it up.

Festivities out of the way. Time to get serious about finding these never ending caches. Trip four. Got into a real rhythm with great success today. TFTH

MV and I set aside a day to do this run, with us taking turns of driving and finding . We got off to a shaky start having trouble with the first few, and there were a few we had to go back to after we had done the run. We missed caches 25, 41, 68, 75, 81, 91, 92 and 93. We saw some wildlife on the way black cockatoos, a snake and more. The day overall went as planned and at the end MV was still keen to get the numbers up, so we powered on after the 100. We liked the smiley containers and the camo containers towards the end. Some of the caches were some distance from the co ords, so a few were abit slow to find, overall not a bad day and I definately got my record of caches in a day on the run. Thanks tangowithcupcake

Reperio between 1030-1800. Having never done a bona fide power trail of caches before, I was keen to complete this series while visiting Albany. The run got off to a shakey start by not finding the number 1. Many of the caches were found rather quickly, although some took quite a bit of time to locate, with most of these being up to 13m away from the coords. Between Darwinian and I, we ended up finding 91 of the 99 traditional caches, missing on 25, 41, 68, 75, 81, 91, 92 and 93. The final run of caches was getting a little tedious hunting for micro caches in some very dense bushland, but in the end, it was good to have a challenge of sorts.

Loved the setup of finding the selected smiley caches, and liked the fact that most of the larger containers were good solid containers. The drive along the non-sealed roads was quite enjoyable for most parts, although some of the trucks passing by were unforgiving in slowing down. Whilst power trails aren't everyone's cup of tea, I enjoyed the challenge for the most part of it.

I set "go to" on the GPS. I put the ute into gear. I pulled out onto the road. I followed the arrow. I arrived at GZ. I stopped the ute. I searched for the cache. I found the cache. I signed the log. I replaced the cache. I got back in the ute. I set "go to" on the GPS---------------------

Out searching and enjoying the countryside on New Years day, 38 marked off the list with 4 DNF’s. Commitments in town prevented the Coasters from finishing the afternoon off with the ‘ton’ accounted for.

We started at number 1 at around 1:30PM. We found 78 of the 100, then it got dark and the difficulty level went a LOT higher. So we called it a night and we will come back another day to finish off the series.

Well found 93% of them anyway - missed nos 41,75, 84, 91 94, 95 and 98. Spread over two days, it was fun, buit frustrating not finding those ones. Pity about the scrub-bashers who had been before us on 91 - what a mess they made of the undergrowth, and not good for the geocaching name!!
Had an emu trying to get in on the act at one spot - he was very curious about what we were up to. Will just HAVE to find those other ones one day soon. Lucky they weren't the crucial happy face ones.

In the company of TeamAstro, we hunted the Albany 100 series from # 1 to # 92 caches. Sometimes, you can find it pretty quickly and straightforwardly, and sometimes it takes you abit longer than the other caches to be found. Thanks to tangowithcupcake for the great Albany 100 series caches. Highly recommended!

It is all a blur of sand and dust. The cache was found and logged. There may have been a Casuarina tree or a pine tree or a gum tree. The cache may have been plastic or metal. The information was gathered if it was there. Some times they smile back at you. You can normally spot that from a mile. The GPS buttons were clicked. Thinking was done. Maps were reviewed. Normally you go straight on. Sometimes you turn. Sometimes you swear. But you always smile and thank the Tango master. It is all a blur of sand and dust. Clear skies today.
