Zara & I are off to explore St Arnaud. Last time I tried this, Zara & I were becoming acquainted and Nigel and I were not getting along. Today was an enjoyable trip down picking up a few caches on the way.
Another stop along the way. Neat trackable in this one. Cheers

After some planning Shannonp1 and I got sorted for a mission into areas we hadn't been. Up to Hanmer through the Molesworth to Blenheim, down the Wairau valley to St Arnaud down the Shannandoa to Murchison and then home via the Lewis. 209 caches for the weekend and a pretty high success rate. Thanks to all the cache owners especially Bum and Worker and sorry for the cut and paste.
A personal challenge day for us. Beat our 'most caches in a day. After a late start we left Motueka at 9:45 and headed south. First cache was about 50KM away. Once we got to SH63 it was park and grabs all the way to Blenheim. From there it was a few caches in town before a burger and a return to Motueka. Home 11:20pm with target achieved. Thanks to all the cache owners for their placements.
So a few weeks in the planning phase, me and Surveybase finally got out and about for a mission. Through Hanmer, up the Molesworth to Blenheim, across through St Arnaud, Murchison and then home. 209 caches for the weekend and a pretty high success rate. Thanks to all the cache owners and sorry for the cut and paste. Cheers.
#1405 Saw the Christmas Snowman TB. Being Christmas Day it is only right that this guy gets moved on. I'll check once home - if he hasn't been to Wellington I'll hold him a few days. If he has I'll leave him in South Island.
Thanks for another South Island smilie. All good at GZ

NZDi and I have been planning a few days away up at St Arnaud in the Nelson Lakes. Normally this trip takes just over an hour and as we can't check in to our accommodation until 3pm we would leave around 1.30pm. Today we left just after 8am and made it into St Arnaud just after 3pm. Of course something delayed us along the way and this was the eighteenth for the team and the twelfth for me as I had already got six of them. Logs were signed with Kiwimykl + NZDi, KM + ND or variations thereof. In most cases the caches were in good order but when not, log sheets or ziplock bags were replaced where necessary.
A quick find here, picked up a TB and dropped off a Geocoin.

Again a quick find. No TB to be seen as per inventory (same applied for all our find on this trip. Grrr). However this cache did contain a cigarette. Odd. Thanks but no thanks - Smoking - not our future! TFTC.
Reading last log, we are not happy some goof left a cigarette in the cache.
Can a visitor please remove it and place it in an appropiate receptical.

[green] Capperz decided that this was the weekend for a marathon run on St Arnaud. Not sure why, except that base lodge there had a cancelled weekend and was free to grab. So he, I and GH6710 had an interesting time caching the surrounds. Rained on and off. The wet long grass meant that I had wet feet for the entire trip. Saw the insides and tops of clouds, some great views, lotsw of rabbits (or maybe just the one, many times over - it always did the same thing: safe on the side of the road, it decides to runs across just in front of the car). Also got to see robins, sandflies, no keas, sandflies and more sandflies. We managed to get GH to break his 50/day record, and over 120 for the whole trip. Saturday we climbed half way up Mt Robert in the morning then boated around Lake Rotoiti in a little yellow plastic dingy for the afternoon. Sunday was lonely cache day - some over 10 months since their last find. Many of these found with GH's 4x4, bumping over some very rough roads, my first real experience of four wheel driving. What an awesome weekend!
It all had to start somewhere, and this is it - first cache for the weekend, Friday after work, on the way down. Given the hide, this cache is a pretty decent size! Found a TB inside, GH swapped it for one he had lurking in the car.

Park and grab on the way up to St Arnaud for the weekend. Picked up TB and dropped another one off.
Whoa..., New Year's Day already. My NY resolution is: start out the way you mean to finish! So, it was bright and early for a start to the day's caching!
Now on the marathon, otherwise known as the power trail through to St Arnaud.
Straightforward find. Cache in order, log signed; safely re-hidden, just as found.

Found on a big day with Team Gators down to St Arnaud and up the Wairau, this was one of 139 smilies for me for the day signed as KMTG. Cheers.
In Richmond on a wee family holiday. Headed out for the day with KiwiMoose on a caching mission through St Arnaud and up the Waiau Valley- to save on the possibility of RSI we signed logs as KMTG.
A long fun day. 150 caches total. Nice one. Cheers.

Most of the GZs on todays road trip had good parking, and all of the logs were in good condition. Some did have a wee bit of water, but the contents were fine.
Well, work has finished for the year, and it is time for the annual road trip to Auckland. Today was from Christchurch to Picton, a longer way.
Thanks for the hide.

15.50: On the way up to St. Arnaud. This beautiful construction of a bridge deserves a cache. Found just as expected. Worth to mention: much more than the usual micro!
Weather: still mostly overcast, sun comes out, 14°C;
Wheelchair: yes, no problem;
State: all good.
Thank you!

The day dawned bright and time for a caching mission. Well into the afternoon now and heading up the Wairau Valley. Hmmm wrong end. TFTC
Had half a day left with the rental car before flying out. So went for a drive towards St Arnaud found this at the extremities of a pocket search I had downloaded a few days back. I’ve never seen so many caches along a straight section of road before!! TFTC

This was one of the most epic weeks ever, and definitely my most epic caching week ever.
Me and mum headed up on a holiday north to Nelson and very wider surrounds. In total during the trip, we found almost 500 caches! (470 odd I think, but final results are yet to be in! ) We covered about 3000 odd km I think too. Crazy! And had our absolute best caching day ever too at 160 found. Spend 9 days travelling, caching, and having the best time ever!!
So sorry about not so epic logs, as otherwise this would probably take me the rest of my life to log, especially with two big events to organise coming up! Eeek!!
Almost every single log we signed as 'Team Polak' to avoid needing to write out both usernames taking up space on logsheet - as well as precious caching time!! Haha.
This was it - one of the caches on our big day

For the sake of sanity we set off with sonia26642 for a crazy geocaching trip, aiming to cache until we drop. The main destination was Nelson and the ‘surrounding’ area, but then we ended up covering a few miles in three northernmost regions, plus a few in Canterbury. We were signing/stamping the log as 'Team Polak' or ‘TP’ for the two of us on this trip to save logbook space. We found a lot of different caches, city ones, road side, park side, up a hill and on an island, and we enjoyed every single one of them. It was good to be a professional thingfinder for a few days!
Today was to be our biggest day. S planned the route to cover the most possible easy to get P&G’s but we ended up not limiting ourselves to only those. D2.5? Why not? Let the brain have a bit of fun! D3? I am sure we can get there quickly!
We had great fun and are grateful to all CO’s who placed caches for us to find, and help restore our sanity before returning to our other non-geocaching lives!!
Come and join us the next New Zealand geocaching MEGA event!! Register your interest now at www.nzmega2015.com to receive newsletter updates and be the first to know. It will be a great event, come and be a part of it!!

We found it on our way to Greymouth on a very sunny and beautiful day. Quick find. Greetings from Germany and TFTC.
Nice old bridge and a good place to get out and admire the view of the mountains. TFTC.
Took a Wairau Valley geocache drive on another beautiful Marlborough day. Had been as far as The Water Trough on a previous time so started our journey of discovery from there. Still had a couple of coordinates available to us from way back then but managed to find the majority from the name and diligent searching! TFTC b&w.
#8110. Probably the most interesting bridge of all the bridges we stopped at today to find caches. TFTC.
Find #8 on a road-trip from Blenheim to Dunedin, through St Arnauds, Hamner Springs, Aoraki/ Mount Cook, and Christchurch. Wye did they put such a magnificent bridge out here? Wye, Wye, Wye? TFTC
Return trip St Arnaud and Blenhiem today so collected a lot of caches on the way. Enjoyed the easy drive through the Wairau Valley. TFTC
Found with Emvy_us as we enjoyed a pleasant evening caching our way back to St Arnaud. TFTC, #6018
OK, not all are easy for parking. This was a bit harder - well at least a longer walk then usual. TFTC
This was one cache out of bumandworker's tremendous ownership throughout the South island. I found it travelling the area. TftC

After we visited Lake Rotorua we had a little action today. We stopped at the 'Buller Gorge Swingbridge', where we both enjoyed the short ride back to the entrance, I did the 'Superman run', lowestrider choosed the more comfortable ride. Cape Foulwind was only a short stop over, because we had to see the 'Pancake Rocks'. Very impressive, but the weather was so cold and we had strong wind today.
I don't know either why you didn't (place a cache last time). - But it was a good idea, so we got another box today on our way further on...

additional information: I will change my geocaching alias name from 'Schlitz13' to 'Megalodon'

Quick and easy find at GZ. Lots of water rushing beneath. Wonder what the ford to the side is for if there's a bridge?

On a 'run' up the Wairau Valley today. And what a great day; blue sky, frost on the road side, snow on the mountains, clear, cool, and beautiful. Thanks for all these neat caches I have had a very busy day.
Wye not stop and have lunch here. And find a cache. And fall down.
Oh well, I had to fall down somewhere.

Decided to do the circuit today; Nelson to Nelson via Tophouse and Havelock.
Out on the power trail but this one looks like it has preceded that. Therefore I must have already driven past this cache several times. Not today.
BTW - Nice Bridge. Often admired.

Day two of a four day Nelson / Marlborough caching trip - Today’s itinerary was travelling from Blenheim to St Arnaud by way of the Wairau Valley. The weather was overcast with some misty rain to start with but it improved as the day progressed. This was one of a number of caches I found today. Great Bridge. SL TFTC

We used the concrete splash instead of the bridge. Wye? Well wye not??? Well actually, we thought this might be a good spot to stop for lunch but the shade there was did not have good access so we continued on our way.

Quick easy drive-by TFTC and now the story why we did these part of the powertrail:
Because we are geocacher we have a lot of electronic stuff with us and everybody know that, siting in the nowhere " oh shit batteries empty " you have to recharge them but where ? Yep in the car ! So what happened this morning .... Right car battery empty (automatic gear )! We asked a few people but nobody had a jumper-cable holy shit
A very nice old lady took us to the next services station ... Closed ... Next pup ... Awesome we had a jumper-cable . So all the way back with the nice lady .... Restart our car ... And all the way back to the pup grab a cup of coffee ... Starting a part of the power trail ... Special thanks to all little heros of our day

New Zealand Geocach found by RadarUSA and Panda (another hunter). Part of the White Lion Expeditionary Force mentioned earlier. Had lots of fun and can't wait to find many more while on our trip in New Zealand!
The White Lion Expeditionary Force set off from Blenheim in search of geocaches and SNOW! Kiwis and the USA were represented. Of course geocaching came first. and this was No. 4 in the series. TFTC Blenheim Bear
Today a run with Holymu was planned to achieve the '30 finds on a day' challenge for the MGSc. Although just one day we enjoyed all four seasons weatherwise. Total tally 44 and a new personal best. No dificulty finding the caches and signing as the day proved almost muggle-free. TFTC
Out today to do the "30 in a day" component of MGSc we decided to do a round trip from Nelson through Spring Creek, and up the Wairau Valley and back home. This was 33/44 we found, bypassing a few where we intend to return. We managed to dodge the worst of the weather and easily achieved our aim. TFTC
