When on the right level and right spot, an easy find. The pen managed to do the trick Thanks!
No one around today so was able to have a good look- soon had cache in sight, retrieving took a bit longer. Great hide. Tftc
Exploring the wetlands today, and saw lots of cool animals, like eels and lots of birds. We approached GZ and already understood the clue. J,F,B and E tried looking for it but couldn't find anything. D decided to have a look and after some thinking found it. A very cool cache and deserves a favourite. Signed as TBA. TFTC
Returning from a stint teaching in Gisborne. I had previously got the park and grab hint here but this time I had a wee bit more time (and daylight!) to check this one out. What theyve done here is awesome. The wetlands are coming back beautifully. I love the cryptic hint which took me a good minute. That and a clue from a previous logger helped me make a quick find. Mihi ki a koe, kiwiowl, monte keteroko #409
A quick little overnight trip to Hawkes Bay and then up to Taup and back home to find some Adventure Labs and to hopefully qualify for the S39 Challenge. Finally, after numerous attempts over the years I can put a smiley here. Even though I know what I was looking for it wasn't until this visit that I actually spotted it. Bit I thought I was going to fail at the last hurdle because I couldn't retrieve the container until I remembered I had the perfect tool in my wrist. All good here, and thank you to kiwiowl for the placement of your Traditional Cache.Find #6680 at 26 April 2024 2:32pm
Couldn't believe it! A lovely couple having a very romantic picnic means I will need to come back another day! I love that romance is still alive though and that made my day This place has expanded and changed a lot since I was last here maybe 5 years ago though. Very glad I came and looking forward to coming back
I haven't cached in months, and today is a fantastic warm summer day, and I'm on rostered leave from work, so caching here I come. The sun is shining, I have a sweat up, and although there were 2 other vehicles parked up, I didn't see anyone on my search for the cache.Beautiful area to stop on my journey, and as I had a fairly good idea what I was looking for it, it didn't take long to find and sign the log.I took the long way of course and found I couldn't go any further on the boardwalk. Back tracking I finally found where I was supposed to be, duh!Let's just say I'm a little rusty .
Stopped off on our way south to see why this cache was attracting so much attention. I read the hint and immediately knew what we were looking for. However I struggled to find it, even after reading past logs. I was having one last look (actually to look for my sunglasses which had fallen off my smooth slippery head) and immediately saw it. I just hadn't looked in the right place -lack of care. Thanks to the CO for the cache - and to the couple who turned up to watch me search, and who turned out to be cachers who'd found it some time ago but refused to tell me where it was.
Great hide. Didn't expect to find a cache here so didn't have a pen. Did have to leave the deck to retrieve but was no drama. Someone has placed a new logbook. Fav point for the creativity.
Found just before we (Bald_n and me) met cache owner replacing the log so we signed the new log. Our first cache in New Zealand. Tftc
Tricky with muggles around! Log full, pic sent to CO via message. Beautiful historical site
Kimbathelion worked out the hint. After waiting for a muggle family to pass saw something that caught our eye. Clever. Tftc
Thankfully I worked out the hint. Not sure about co-ordinates but read a few logs & got an idea. We had to wait for a family to go away. Then I went down & saw something suspicious & clever. Fav point for this. Added our initials, didn't have any paper on me. Tftc
A nice wander, although a bit windy today. Maintenance crew was working down the way, but we made it to the cache unhindered. Logbook is full as others have mentioned. TFTC!
Had this on my must stop if I came this way today. And I did. So parked up to find I'm the only one here. Make my way to gz and see likely spot. Read hint and off I go. Not to long after the find was made. Well done on the clever cache. Needs a new log but maybe another finder might be able to replace it with a fresh one. Tftc
Wanted to try our luck here but didn’t succeed. Should have read the old logs first, but then in the full sun of noon, we weren’t rational enough.
Thank you anyway for showing us this place

I had only 5 minutes between the Muggles and obviously too clever for me. Well maybe another time. Thanks anyway!
Quick stop en route to Heretaunga. Beautiful spot in the warm spring sunshine. Had to wait for several muggles to depart but after that it was a fast find. TFTC
Found this materful piece of craftsmanshipwhile I note its a D4 Acess is not straightforward locaating from the top of the structure is difficult ..even my grandies small head couldn't fit between the safety railsthis takes nothing away from this tidy piece of craft work...it mean you get down and dirty...beware of the trap ...thanks Kiwiowl this was an enjoyable challenge in a wonderful area....the cache is in good condition but the log sheet requires some TLC...ps glad it was a nice fone and dry day
When we pulled into the carpark i didn't realize this was a D4 hide, but was pleased to have the challenge. We had mr 8 year old with us. He is pretty on to hide now but he lost interest on this quickly. We persevered and concentrated on one area. One up one down. This did take a while even though we expected a clver camo like this. Nicely crafted. Yep one was NQR. Lig is overfull. Thanks for the fun kiwiowl
Took a bit of searching but with persistence it was in hand.
What a beautiful area. We enjoyed our wandering. TFTC

Found on our second try, and that was after a nudge from a family member geocacher! It was still a tricky hide, so very satisfying find. Nailed it!!
Thanks kiwiowl for the cache. It’s #1467 for us. We found your cache on 26 February 2021. Wow, that was a very tough one but as is always the case when caching, the pleasure is in the find so we didn’t give up!! Brilliant hide! FP from us for that one.
Too smart for me. Couldn’t find it. Bit too wimpy to go under the wooden framing too haha. Good luck!
Not a quick find, as the comments say things have grown to up the difficulty. Very Satisfying cache thank you!
What a saga. Bought tweezers specially but when I needed them had left in car. Walked back to get them. No it wasn't a cache. Forgot about tweezers went back to find. Nah. No tweezers nor cache. Must have spent an hour wandering around. Spotted a pair of swans with their cygnets.
Found while driving through to Taradale after a few days in Waipukurau cycling in the area. This is an interesting development right from the getting rid of the willows to to the native replanting and the provisin of boardwalks. Thanks for the cache
Quick find once the GPS settled. Being a '4' I knew it would be in a less obvious spot, and was delighted to discover it after a brief search. I think luck was on my side today! Greetings from Wellington and TFTC.
Originally I had a non-caching road trip planned for the weekend, but the year that wont stop 'giving' put a stop to that, so plans changed and today I ended up caching my way from Napier back to Wellington. Came here to right the wrong of a previous DNF - Had the place to myself so was able to do a thorough search, and still foud nothing. Then, after another scan of the previous logs spotted a clue and changed my approach a little, and finally success! What a tricky little blighter this is. And then just as I clambered back onto the deck to do the signing, an elderly couple appeared (from nowhere). I suspect I gave them a bit of a scare. Tried to calmly justify my actions but they still seemed a bit wary. Anywhay, waited for them to leave (didn't take long) before returning the cache safely to its rightful location. Happy to have this one done. TFTC.
peaceful walk after the rooster settled down. had gz to myself so carried out a methodical search for something expected but slightly out of place. couple of bent finger nails later spotted something out of line. retrieved using car key. have often driven by but never had time to stop. enjoyed the wetland today. tftc
Found with little blue hen. Nearly gave it away but she persists and insists. Coords within 3m and there has been indeed some regeneration of the undergrowth, Favourite to be added by LBH who was amused by the gang of four roosters who own the carpark. We decided that travel overseas as planned this year was now a distant memory and as we hadn't been to Napier for over 10 years a short break was in order. Woodville was our stop for breakfast and coffee and a few caches locally were on our to do list. From there we selected a few caches between Woodville and Napier and managed to nab a few despite wet weather that came and went. Thanks for the opportunity to stop and cache. Tftcsl
There a few wasp nests in this area and I got stung. Please be wary when looking for this cache.
Have tried this one many times and still no luck. Few wasps around too. Will be back to conquer this one lol.
I'm upping the difficulty on this cache from 3 to 4, mainly as there has been substantial growth of vegetation since the cache was first placed. Also, back then, cachers were perhaps more dedicated to searching for their finds. It is very unlikely that this cache will ever get muggled and is is very possible to reach it from the platform of the main structure.
Returned for a third go at this one. No muggles around so just systematically covered the area and cornered it in the end. A favourite from us for the cache and it’s beautiful surroundings.
After much looking we admitted defeat. Reading some of your logs makes me think some crawling around was needed. We did do some of this but was a bit put off by the trap we found!
second time here, and this time round kaleb got his hands on the cache almost straight away very very well placed and gets a fav from us, thanks for the placement
No wasps today, but also no find today. Is the terrain rating correct? I don't expect to crawl underneath or bash through flax for a 2 star terrain?
Did a quick sortie, but although the clue made sense the GPS did not. I will make a point of stopping next time we pass as this is a wonderful area to spend some time.
So many Wasp nests and many more wasps sitting on all the wood plus lots of flax which had more wasps.. We couldnt find but I'm guessing the wasps guardians kepted it well guarded.
Found after a really long search. Almost ready to give this one away.

A friend who once came with me to replace the log checked up on this about a month ago, said all was good and still intact. As I've not been able to check myself then I'm not adding a maintenance log. However, I can confirm that the difficulty is perhaps harder that when first placed due the the amount of flax that is now growing at the side of the deck. If the cache is missing then an experienced cacher will find it's location.
Had a really good look today while the others had a walk around the boardwalk. Thanks for bringing us here. unfortunately not a find for us today. After reading a lot of other DNF's we suspect it has gone AWOL.
We knew what to look for having found several like thus in the UK but not here. We tried really hard to find this given wr knew what to find but unfortunately deter and extensive search still unable.
Had a good look around for an hour but no luck. Raining today. Will come back and try again on a nicer day.
Beat me today but groundskeepers were here mowing lawns so did not great a great look.
We had been out to Te Aute College for the day and decided to stop in at the Wetlands on the way back. What a beautiful area! A good quality cache hide and well hidden. One of the best I've seen of this type. TFTC Kiwiowl. Fave point added. Cheers
Woohooo hint took us a while to work out, surprisingly quick find after that . Shiny new log aswell!
Wow 1 hour the first Time WE came and we didn't find it and this Time After half an hour it Was in our hand ! Thanks for hiding !
Finally got the little blighter! This was our third visit, and we were determined not to leave emptyhanded. While I was just about standing on my head searching, Team Geocacher Mr. T. suddenly gave a triumphant shout "got it". We were both delighted. Thanks for the cache - a good one. And in a great area.
Checked on this one today as I noted a few DNFs cache is still nicely tucked away where it should be
No luck for us today. Will have to try again and hope for more luck next time.
In Hawke's Bay for the weekend visiting friends. Tigatat2 and I went with CeeVee for an afternoon of caching. CeeVee had done this one already but came for the walk in this nicely restored wetland.
Checked the GPS and we eventually got to GZ to start my search.
Following clues, GPS and feedback Tiga eventually discovered this sneaky little hide. Well done, such a neat disguise.
Signed with the joint monogram of TT2M.P to represent Tigatat2 and My.Precious

In Hastings for the weekend. Hunting with My.Precious and sign jointly as TT2M.P My sister (CeeVee) joined us for this afternoons hunt.
What an asset for the area, wish we had more time to explore this place. As time was getting late CeeVee, who had found these 2 caches before, acted as 'hot/cold' director. Loved the camo for this one, would not have been as quick a find if not having a little help.

Banian and I found this cache on our autumn northern roadtrip- where we did a circuit of the north island from Wellington right up to Raglan, then across to Napier through Taupo, before heading home, finding masses of caches and discovering a plethora of unique and interesting locations.
Superb view from GZ of the wetlands we had just traversed for the nearby cache. Almost didn't find due to approaching muggles, but they moved.TFTC

Found with Redants on our April Holidays Road Trip to Raglan and back. Last leg of the journey back to Wellington today, via HW52. This area is looking much better than it did before the trees were removed. TFTC kiwiowl.
Opps we found this cache a while ago but have only just realised we haven't logged it. Had to hunt for a while for this one. Great hide, well done !!
Our second DNF of our visit to this wetland making for a very frustrating walk. In spite of there being numerous hint objects around GZ I was unwilling to inspect anywhere near all of them due to the large number of wasps in the vicinity and soon gave up, as wasp stings do not agree with me. Perhaps we'll have another look if we ever come this way again at a different time of year.
Second time back to look for this one.
Nice placing. Had another walk around. Very nice place to visit. Cheers.

Searched in the dark with hubby and the kids but no success. Will have to try again during daylight hours sometime
Tricky to find - lots of loose ones, but no need to undo. A beautiful spot on route to Palmerston North with work tftc
Awesome little area. I've watched this place develop over the years. Good hide, TFTC
Quick find today while travelling back to Wellington, was a good wee walk to stretch the legs for the little bear. Tftc
