Quick found! I really enjoyed today off on Cardrona Cromwell Pack Track, starting from Swann Road (Lowburn). I met only 1 person. Tired but satisfied Smile

** I am not breaking any laws. Just very behind in logging. Safely from the comfort of my own home **

Trip for New Years off tramping with the whole extended whanau.
Day 3 of our tramp. Stopped here for some morning tea, and then in a more sheltered spot for some lunch. Super windy, but super sunny & lovely!
TFTC!!

Hiking with the whanau! I was not quite sure about the title as it seemed that we were already quite high, but yes, it keeps going up! The stone formations are amazing, that's what make this one of my favourite areas! The phone is not full of pictures after the wind blew the clouds away. Now we were going to freeze in the wind and get burnt by the sun simultaneously! Great spot for the cache, and what a view!! TFTC!!!

#1223 - Second of four caches today on what ended up being an unexpected 48km day hike.

Starting at the Cardrona end of the Roaring Meg Pack track, I made my way up to Tuohy's Saddle before turning off towards Meg hut and continuing up to this cache.

Very peaceful with stunning views. The journey to the cache made me a very happy Goat.

An added bonus of exactly 5 years of unloved as well. The cache is still in great condition with all contents dry.

Tftc phiki, these sort of caches are why I enjoy Geocaching so much.

We had intended to do the Pack Track this weekend, but due to circumstances beyond our control had to go up and back the Meg Stream route instead, staying the night at Meg Hut. So, after arriving at Meg Hut at 1.30 we & Plumbtart and the rest of the party took daypacks and walked up this far. An exhilarating view of golden tussocks and a cradle of mountain ranges all around. An especial thanks for the classic 2 litre caches phiki614!

The last finders were the Miller brothers in Feb 2013. They were looking for a sheltered place to light their stove for a brew and wrote a lovely log note. They wrote that their grandfather and g'father's brother, Bert and George, were musterers on this property back in 1917 and their names are preserved behind perspex at Deep Streem Hut. So on their trip they were "taking a memory and leaving a memory".

Also - the WAMS map http://wams.org.nz/wams_desktop/index.aspx shows the route of the Lowburn and Roaring Meg pack track accurately - some DoC worker took their GPS over. I used the "Export to GPS" feature, drawing a line and clicking every few hundred metres, then downloading the route. Not that you need it, the track is well marked with DoC waratahs.

Tramping the Lowburn Pack Track, from Lowburn to Meg Hut and then out to the Roaring Meg power station.

Great weather, awesome views and many caches to find !

TFTC!

Walked to after a lovely night's sleep at the Meg Hut. Track around this cache is very very overgrown which made our going slow. Were very dependent on finding the next pole before moving on and guessing what route to take as it is not obvious at all. What a lovely spot, beautiful warm day.

Episode 5
Oh dear!! What we thought would be a pleasnt ride from T is for Tor turned into a nightmare. What path there is is obstructed by big tussocks and where it isn't there is a lawn of speargrass (Spaniards). Good cahce but we were gettign very hot and bothered with 3 out of 4 flat tyres. We had plenty of spare tubes but decided to carry on pushing / carrying to the end of the 4 wheel drive track 700m to the N west before fixing them.
