Today, I had organised with Freddo and gridge98 to ride the Northern Expressway bikeway to complete the *Nexy Challenge* series geocaches. We rode the full distance, and then in the afternoon, jesswrigley and I visited the south-eastern end of Cleland Conservation Park and took a few walks around the area. The day began cold spitting a little, but towards the afternoon, it turned out to become quite warm and not too hot; almost the perfect day to be outside and hiking.
Freddo, gridge98 and I had set off early to complete this series. Both gridge98 and I had yet to find these geocaches, and Freddo had recently acquired these and was in the process of performing maintenance for a few that had accumulated DNFs. We rode past here, stopped, and managed to find this cache reasonably quickly. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Burton's for the cache placement, and equipe de cinq for its ongoing maintenance.

Today I headed out with the godfather (Freddo) and Davidwazza to complete the next challenge trail and start the next big thing. A nice ride along the trail for the whole 50km as we went from Gawler to Port Adelaide. A great day out with over 40 finds.,

JJ52 and I had planned a day out on Boxing Day and we were to be accompanied by erine14
Sadly erine14 was unwell[xx(][xx(] and so she missed a full on day of caching - which erine14 is possibly grateful for
JJ52 suggested there were a few tracks that I shouldn't attempt but hey, we got through them all with the Corolla still in one piece[^]
Left my place just after 9am on the 26th and we arrived back at my place about 1.30am on the 27th[|)][^][|)]
What was to have been a trip to Kapunda, Burra and then Port Wakefield[^] ended up at Terowie[?] as there was a FTF waiting up there[^]
We had 1 DNF at the very 1st cache stop of the day and it could have been a FTF too but I did find 21 caches for the rest of the day, plus 10 adv lab WPs
Gave myself a case of heatstroke in Burra[xx(][xx(], after arriving too late to get the key to drive the adv lab there and hence having to walk at least 3.5km in 33 or more degree heat[xx(][xx(][|)][xx(] Luckily the old berocca tablet[^], litres of water and then a Golden North Giant Twin for me and a dandy cup for Rex had us feeling much better[^]
My thanks to JJ52 for doing the driving for a while so that I could cool down, rehydrate and resume thinking clearly[:X][^][^]
We found caches recommended for 4WDs but hey, it was dry today Luckily I'm pretty good at knowing where my wheels are[^] so we missed the big holes left by 4WDs
All in all a brilliant day[^] with 536km travelled
My last cache for the trip A quick find for a new day and now I'm almost finished this NEXY series[^]
As I turned the Corolla around, JJ52 started counting and saying something about 'bike paths'

I mentioned to locus cache at a recent event that I would like to have a trip to the mid north to complete 2 Adventure Labs up that way and we decided that today was going to be the day. [^] I also need 3 finds and 1 puzzle find for the day and that was accomplished very easily.
So we headed off with plans to head to Kapunda, then Burra and finishing at Pt Wakefield to get all the AL's. Now everyone knows that when you make plans with locus cache those plans very often change and you can end up somewhere that you had no idea you even wanted to go to. And I made the mistake of saying I needed one cache find for tomorrow but had planned on a quiet day home and didn't know where I would get a cache close to home...comment was made (a little tongue in cheek) that we could solve that by finding a cache after midnight then I wouldn't have to go out tomorrow! Little did I know that this would happen and I would find 7 caches on the 27th on the way back to locus' house.
We had a fun day even though it was hot and we nearly did ourselves in when we walked 3.5km around the Burra mine site. We even decided on the spur of the moment to go and try for a FTF in Terowie (which we did get) and in the process cleared out Terowie.
Arrived in Pt Wakefield at 11:00pm and completed the AL in the dark with the help of a very strong torch. By the time we left there it was getting close to midnight and we stopped in Virginia and surrounds for the next day caches. Then it was back to pick my car up and I made it home at 2:30am after a very long but enjoyable caching trip with a total of 32 caches found and 3 AL's completed, have to be happy with that.
This was one that locus hadn't found so we stopped here on our way past for a quick find. One day I will have to bring my new bike out here and clean up the rest.
Thanks for the cache Burton's.

Quick lunchtime find. Log has been waterlogged so is more reminiscent of paper mache. TFTC
Was supposed to be leaving work at 1pm but as it was end of month stock take didn’t end up leaving until 2.20pm which cut short my caching a little this arvo.
Had hoped to collect 20 but only managed 13. Had 3 dnfs which all took up a fair bit of time, but converted 2 prior dnfs. All in all a good day out but still many to come back for in this neck of the woods.
Second find of the arvo, the log is soggy mush unable to sign. TFTC equipe de cinq

Thanks for placing this cache. Nice ride with a few spots of rain. Log soaked to the core. Hidden better than I found it

First time out on the bikes in a long time. Decided to make a start on this series. Nice weather for a ride with a light cooling breeze. TFTC!

Out for a morning cache with my GeoSon and #Bones5. Successfully completed Nexy Challenge 12 - Start. Now only a few further north that have since been replaced after DNF's. Thanks
TFTC. SL but log was very wet, tried to dry with tissue until able to sign. Must carry some paper to assist with this.
**On my way home from Nuriootpa. Decided to grab these whilst it was quiet**...

Couldn't sleep last night so decided to take a long ride, nice cool night to pick up the last of the nexy trail plus a few on the way back home.
Visiting Adelaide for the TDU. Huge apologies; started logging finds (and my DNF) the night I rode the series but was burning the candle at both ends, ran out of time and clearly forgot to go back and log them. Now that I'm planning this year's trip I've discovered the problem. Thanks for the great, bike friendly series....I even have some photos from the series.
'To cache or not to cache ..' that was never the question, because there is only one answer. The choice I gave Mr Frog, was to paddle or pedal and he chose pedal. We had a wonderful afternoon even though we had a slight head wind. Our bikes aren't used very much and I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow, but tomorrow will take care of itself.
Thank you for a wonderful afternoon and .....TFTC

Missed this one at first. Came back later with geowife who promptly accused me of having a man-look.
She was right, I hadn't seen the gate.
She was right, I hadn't seen the gate.
Change of plans today due to unforeseen circumstances saw me hire a bike instead and hit the Nexy trail, riding the full length followed by a quick stop in Gawler and then the express journey back. There were a few DNF's but for the most part the caches were all in good condition.
This was find number 1 of 42 for the afternoon for me. TFTC Burton's!

Staying in Gawler, on our 2nd trip around Australia.
Headed out today, to do The Nexy Challenge.
With only 1 electric bike, geo-hubby drew the short straw, and got dropped off at the start.
Geo-wife picked up a few in the area, before returning to the end of the series, to wait.
Apart from being a but chilly, it was an easy ride, mostly along level ground.
All the caches were found quickly, signed and replaced as found.
Many thanks for the hunt today, Burton's.

On our tour of Australia via Oz Mega we are currently staying at Highway 1 Caravan Park.
A lateish start today as has become our custom . We joined forces with iluvtrekking so we could get the bikes out and about (needed their car for the bike rack!)
What a fabulous day, great company some interesting caches and no rain!
Sadly there were a few DNF's, but still was a fabulous day to ride the electric bikes.
All in all, a successful fun day was had whilst finding geocaches! That's what Geocaching is all about isn't it.
Thanks for helping us meet our objective today with your caches.

We joined forces with FelixII today for another days caching in the greater Adelaide area before our imminent departure. The boys set out on the bikes to hunt down the Nexy series, while the girls had a much more sedate day which involved stopping for coffee along the way.
We had a great day, thanks for your cache Burton's

Team Crackers mentioned they were prepared to complete The Nexy Challenge while in town so we were more than happy to go along. I love the Nexy trail and now that I've found all of these new caches I'll be able to ride end to end uninterrupted ;-P Seriously, we really had fun along the trail -- had lots of laughs. I'm ashamed to admit that Spook was able to go so much faster than I could handle! I tried to keep up with him and nearly collapsed a lung! haha. Really great fun, thanks Burton's!
We were coming back after spending a couple of days in Portland with Dad and thought that we would try our luck with another part of this series and also have another look for a couple we couldn't find on our last visit. We weren't sure how we would go starting at the wrong end but the parking turned out to be easy and safe.
The only problem we had was crossing the road to get to the caches as there were heaps of cars using the road today. We aren't sure if it was the holidaymakers heading back home or people avoiding the roadworks and taking the more scenic route. We had a great time collecting all the caches along here with the various hides and saw quite a few curious cows. Thw wind blew a gale for most of the time we were there but it did create some great white caps on the reservoir near the end of our journey. With so many caches found in such a short time we apologise for the generic log but we can say we really enjoyed this section of the series and found these to be easier hides than the first section was for us.
Thanks D'Belco for breaking up our journey. We came over to sort out a few details with The Oz Mega committee and mentioned that we would like to try the Nexy series. Semik & Skippy said that they would like to do it as well and after a long talk with the white bear Southerncross Caching also decided to join in. With hangovers in hand we arrived here this morning with full intentions of taking notes of each hide. Unfortunately all the good humored banter and friendly rivalry got in the way. We had 2 dnf's early in the piece at numbers 3 & 5 but luckily Skippy and Semik had spare containers in the car so after completing the series we returned to replace these two caches. We apologise for the generic log but on the day fun got in the road and the note pad never came out of the pocket. We can see we really enjoyed the ride and the company and also some of the metal signs along the way.

Found on a lovely long weekend Monday morning out before it got to hot. I met up with Skippy, Semik and Team Crackers at the Western end and off we went, up hill and into the wind mind you
The start was not so good with 2 DNF's in the first few, however these were rectified on the return journey. In the end we managed a find on all in the series so for
There was much fun, frivolity and yes Skippy even stoped to ingress along the way [^]

Out for a ride on a rather warm morning, started early (for me) to avoid the heat.
Turned out to be a great day, with a nice total of 17 for the morning.
Started from Curtis Road and headed towards Pt Wakefield Rd getting the caches on the left side, then turned around at the end and headed back doing the ones on the opposite side.
Wanted to do a few more, but started to get a little too warm, so left the remaining ones for another day.
Found this cache after a short search, which was lucky number 6.
Thanks Burton's for the great cache.

Today saw me evacuate the long term tenants that had occupied all the nooks and cranny's of my bike, a quick wash and some WD40 in the right places and i was ready to tackle this one, geowife dropped me off near #41 and we arranged to pick me up from Pt Wakefield rd when completed, the attributes claimed it was less than 10 ks so i should handle that OK .....in the end i believe it was around the 15 k mark loll, this was a very pleasant trail to do, i really enjoyed this one as i was in no hurry, the caches were easy to find and i got to see some of the scenery that you cant admire traveling 100 kph down the expressway, i didn't realize there was so many almond trees on that property, it was interesting reading all the signs along the way. TFTC
Popped down after work, via muddy pot-holed roads to get here.

There were a few new caches that have managed to invade there way into my closest to home circle, so knocking them off was a must.
This was the next on the nexy that i needed to do.

Out caching on a nice December evening. We decided to drive rather than leave the car at the start and walk as the sun was getting low. At least the first four can be accessed from the dead end roads created by the Nexy. TFTC Burton's!
Another powertrail with GrumpyBump (geoDad). All were straightforward finds. TFTC.
[:(!] Flew in from Perth with geowife a few days ago to visit my geoson (Revolutio Solutio) and his geofamily, I suggested that we do the Stuart O Grady bike way and he agreed, parked the geocar as close as possible GC2KFQB, unloaded our pushbikes and the geojourney began, on arrival at GZ we had the cache in hand in a matter of minutes, this was one of sixtythree before lunch.

Back along Port Wakefield road, and with the GPSr working again decided to come for a short walk.
Nice quick find, but then the phone decided to stop working so I couldn't grab a photo of all the trucks going past. Nice tomato plants in the greenhouse next door. I wonder if they are bemused yet by cars coming and parking at the end of their road[?]

Philip and I had travelled along the Northern Express Way last week with the idea of doing this series. But oops, after finding the first cache, Philip forgot to access the GPS to find the next one.
This time Philip was on the ball. Pity about the head wind from Gawler to Port Wakefield Rd.
Nice and easy finds. Also my bucket list for Philip has one more tick. NEXY accomplished.

On a caching trip with Robmc and The Morris - a hectic run over three days. We brought our bikes over for this series alone, although we did get some use out of them for other caches. This was the second series of caches we did. We arrived from Murray Bridge and came straight to the trail. It was a fine but extremely windy morning but we enjoyed the journey. There must have been a lot of rain over the weeks before as a lot of the caches were glued in the mud and their logs were either damp, wet or mushy beyond help. A lot of the logs were also very full, so a maintenance run might be worthwhile.
Thanks for the cache Burton's

Day 4 of our journey from Bendigo, caching with Robmc and Betty Boo3747 on some of the power trails and series our SA cousins had to offer.
We had brought the bicycles over so we could tackle this trail and with the weather predicted to be in the 30s we wanted to get it underway early. As it happened it didn't get that hot but we were really pleased that we had long pants on as most of the grass was armpit high. Well my armpits anyway. Its a great idea for a series and thanks for the effort

Spent today caching with The Morris and Bettyboo3747.
We had brought the bikes over specifically to do the NXY trail. We dropped a car at either end, and began our journey at Gawler.
The weather was kind to us, and we only had a head wind for a few caches.
Lots of stopping, jumping off, searching, logging, and dashing off again.
A very nice series of caches on a very flash trail.
Thanks, Robmc.
