Stopped by this hide after nosey-ing at the visitors centre of the Stonehenge. Nice and quick find here. Found with Livyboo23. TFTC
Found pretty quickly! Parked further down the road from cache as not safe to pull over by the cache. Logbook had rust eaten through it? No issues in signing though. Found spontaneously after being nosey at Aotearoa Stonehenge. With Amarana11!
As a rule when IsisNZ and I go on a caching trip, we deliberately don't go near caches that one of us has already found. I mentioned before the trip that I knew Stonehenge was in the area and if we happened to be passing, I'd love to stop at this cache to see the view even though she'd already found this one. She was very happy to oblige and after a quick find I took a couple of obligatory photos. Love the letterbox here. Thanks skindo#17151
Close to the resident's house. Found and moved on.A big day of caching beckoned today, and that's just the way I wanted it to be, and why i'd stayed overnight in Upper Hutt after travelling down yesterday arvo. I had designs on taking my (wife's) tiddly Tiida out the back of Carterton/Gladstone and knock over those Nifty Swifty solves and realign into the GeoArt they deserve to be. I had a lot of help with the solves, I'll admit, but collaboration often comes back around again so that's fine. The good thing about hitting a powertrail of Geo-Art 'early' is; the caches are almost certainly still at their original placements (no cache creep), they're in good condition (no ripped baggies, rusted mint-tins, muddy outers) and the early finders might be able to remember to help with a tricky find. As it was there were no anomalies and all of the series were found, along with a couple of random skindo extras near to the new placements (research will sort which ones out). It was just under 80 finds for the day, just under 5 hours from first swifty find to the last one, and plenty of dust on the tiddly Tiida. A good day with sun, rain, light wind and heavy gusts )aka Summer in Palmy!)Thanks to all COs, an advancement on my finds of Wellington region COs caches (not you Tom!)
As a once in a lifetime holiday, this year we are traveling for 7 weeks to Vietnam, Bali, Australia and New Zealand. In Australia we meet Ellen Sch and MrVon sr and Ingsve to visit these last two countries, so here we cache together. We signed the log with N4. Now we have solved many caches so we have a large number of solved coordinates. But we are interested in all types of caches, so if you receive a log, it means that we have visited your cache. We haven't quite decided where we're going, but we'll probably let the weather decide for us. We want warmth because in Norway it is now freezing. We will stay for about 2 weeks in Australia and 2 weeks in New Zealand and we will end the trip with the Mega event in Adeleide on 29 February. So thank you very much to all of you who make it possible for us to travel around finding caches. On March 6, we set course for Norway again. There are extremely nice people everywhere and we are welcomed, we thank you very much. Thanks to our cache friends for good company on the trip.
EnglishWe are six Norwegians on a trip to Australia and New Zealand. We arrived in Melbourne at the beginning of February and are traveling home after the mega event in Adelaide. We travel by car and Geocaching helps us discover many nice places and often helps to decide where we choose the route between our goals which are: Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Dunedeen, and Adelaide. This is one of the caches we found on the trip and we thank you for showing us this place. We who are on tour have the nicknames: MrVonsr, ingsve, EllenSch and TeamEika. Cachehilsen fra Ellen Sch, NorgeMe and MrV sr have come down to Australia and New Zealand, -an old dream has finally come to an end. Team Eika and Ingsve have also traveled with us on this trip.We have been traveling cross-country for a month, and the goal is to end up in Adeleide and mega-event on the leap year. We have especially looked for old caches, to fill jasmer'n, for a couple of pieces, and for the other two of us who have started to think about reviewing more. The vast majority of them showed up at their places, sometimes we had to search a bit, but we were usually lucky in the end. There were also some DNFs.We have mostly logged in with the common nickname N4 (ingsve, Von sr. TeamEika and Ellen Sch), but our own nicknames are also used.A big thank you to all you CO's for laying out and maintaining your caches. Without their work, we would never have been able to make a living with this hobby.Always nice to have a new smiley face on the map.Cache greetings from Ellen
Out on a geocache trip with Ellen Sch , Team Eika and ingsve on holiday in New Zealand, and today it was this area that was prioritized If nothing else is mentioned, we found the cache at good coordinates and it was fine To save space in the log, we often log in with the nickname N4 Many thanks to CO for laying out and maintaining this Greetings from Norway TFTCUte p en geocache-tur med Ellen Sch,Team Eika og ingsve p ferien i New Zealand og idag var det dette omrdet som ble prioritert Hvis ikke annet er nevnt s fant vi cachen p gode koordinater og den hadde det braFor spare plass i loggen logger vi ofte med nick N4Tusen takk til Til CO for utlegg og vedlikehold av denne Hilsen fra Norge TFTC
Team MET are at it again!Mar1sa, EtherLord, and TwigNZ are raiding the 'Rapa, aiming to find the Nifty Swifty GeoArt series and as many other random+archived Skindo caches as we come across. This was a quick findNow on to the next one!
Had a caching day with Etherlord Clan and Twignz we signed as team MET, thank you for all the effort that was put into the puzzles/placements, we were lucky with fantastic weather while finding them and all caches in great order.
(# 8483) A trip over the big hill primarily for the Tauherenikau River CITO plus others. Spending the weekend around Greytown. I always feel uncomfortable when a cache is placed close to a house. Figured the occupants must know about it. A quick find. Thanks Skindo for bringing me here.
It is not the grey pole. Don't touch it.Quickly found next to the hint thanks to a neighborly yell. Thanks.TFTC,bahaMAfive (with ???? on his eyes)
A great spot. Didn't take long to find this one. Nice views of the NZ stonehenge. I remember driving past the UK Stonehenge every summer holidays when I was younger. Tftc
Last time I was here my daughter wouldn't let me stop so good to grab this one.
Found while out on a drive in the country with Talla64, Taybee and Taybee nz. Thanks for the cache skindo, nice view of Stonehenge.
Out and about in the Wairarapa with Flowerydaze,Taybee and TaybeeNZ on a caching hunt. Lovely day for a trip even though its midwinter. Log signed as TNZFT for all of us and to save space on the log sheet. TFTC Skindo
Another remote cache. Was a bit unsure of it due to the proximity to the house, but all good. TFTC. Number 12649 for me.
A quick easy find with a view of Stonehenge in the distance. We have visited the original in Wiltshire, and found the cache there. TFTC
Thank you for bringing this spot to my attention! Definitely worth a visit!! TFTC!!
The neighbour wasnt too impressed with us driving up n down the street, but alas we found it, was trying to get a sneak peek of the haunted house, and maybe an explore but the nosey neighbour made us feel a tad uncomfortable beautiful veiw of the Stonehenge
Found with aeshna_uk. We were in Carterton the previous night for a performance by The Boss, a Springsteen tribute act. I'd heard about Stonehenge Aotearoa and the presence of a nearby cache swung it for me - we detoured by here after brunch with friends on our way home. Got challenged by the nearby homeowner; when I told him why I was there, he pointed me to the cache. Guess that makes for a pretty easy find! TFTC!
Found right at the entrance to a private house! Maybe owner should move it out of respect!
We got a short reply from the owner of the fence it belongs too. Strongly suggest moving it.
Hello
Strongly suggest for the owner of the posts sake you move this to the power pole across the road.
He is least impressed with people poking around his fence line

A bit of a surprise to find the cache was in someone's property, especially as that someone was getting ready to go out with his dog. However, he ignored us totally, so he must know that the cache is there. Easy find. Glad that we didn't bother going any closer to the Stonehenge... TFTC
Over this way for some relaxation and geocaching of course.
Took a drive to Carterton and checked out Stonehenge Aotearoa and the haunted house. And since this cache was just up the road, grabbed it too.

On a mission today to knock off as many 'back country' Skindo caches before (or after) they get archived, plus any others on the journey. Today's 7-hour mission took in Gladstone, Admiral Hill, Hinakura, Martinborough and Ahiaruhe and netted 18 finds and 13 DNFs.
#1233 and final for the day. 'Interesting' placement here so close to a private driveway! The black plastic cache container looks like it has practically melted in the hot summer sun and deformed so much that the cracked lid was as good as useless. So after cruising on further along the road to look at the scenery, we replaced the cache container with a new yeast jar on our way back past the site. Good views from here of the fake Stonehenge. Chatted to a lady who was about to photograph the haunted house above on the hilltop, and having just paid $10 (per adult) to look at the polystyrene-covered blocks. Her opinion matched mine that it stands as a waste of time, space and money - unless you're obsessed with astronomy and such like!
I've often thought about this looking for this cache in the past, being so close to it. Having biked past it just yesterday with the local Wednesday cycle group I decided I'd better act before it passes into the realm of the archived Skindo caches.

Quick park and grab while checking out the view of Stonehenge. Decided to check out Stonehenge Aotearoa as we can’t travel overseas to visit the real Stonehenge because of COVID
Stayed the night in Martinborough and now collecting some caches on the way home. Have passed the sign for Stonehenge on SH2 in Carterton so many times but only now made it here. Well what a strange experience. A brand new Stonehenge in someone’s garden. I think I will stick to the original. No problems finding the cache which was all fine. Thanks Skindo for the smiley.
With the prospect of a nice long weekend available, I decided to spend a day or two over in the Wairarapa chasing archived Skindo puzzle caches and any other caches I would be passing right by including this one.
It was getting late now, and I was racing the setting sun to always find that "just one more" cache lol. This was a nice and straightforward park 'n' grab. The cache was found exactly as per the Hint, although I always feel a bit self conscious when in someones yard. Encountering no issues with the cache or the contents, I was able to swiftly sign the log before replacing everything exactly as found and heading back to the car.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

Felt a bit exposed here, suspect the house is new since placement. Good view of Stonehenge indeed, first time I’ve seen this replica in person. Cheers skindo!
No problems finding cache. Good view of Stonehenge Aotearoa - looks to be in better shape than the original! TFTC Skindo.
Came out here with a muggle friend who may now be hooked. Lovely day for a bike ride. May have to stop for a pint in gladstone on the ride home.
Took a beautiful winters day cycle out here from Masterton. Back road down Te Whiti. Wonderful view from up here. The placement of this cache is a bit iffy I have to say. But it is there. And thankfully, no one was home. Took a convert with me who may well now be hooked. TFTC.
9/1/20 Found while out on a bike ride. Visited local attractions.
Cache in good condition.
Thanks to CO for placing and maintaining.
GLAD to have another smiley and add to my tally.

Today was a numbers run over to the Wairarapa to mainly boost my finds for May, as they've been sorely lacking. I had a couple of missions I wanted to achieve - finding the remaining 250 finds in a month caches (even the ones I haven't yet qualified for), and to attempt to get Skindo's 1000th. I also wanted to visit some locations in the Wairarapa that I've never been to before (even before geocaching). In 12 hours I managed to find 53 caches, including 25 traditionals, 24 puzzles and 2 multis. I also signed 5 challenges, pending future qualification.
Given the previous logs, I didn't want to stick around too much, especially as there was evidence of outside activity going on. I quickly found the cache and replaced, then headed back the way I came. All good here. TFTC

With an overseas visitor we went out to see Stonehenge Aotearoa and with some videos and then a guided walk around the stones it was a really interesting time. Before entering the site we drove up the road for a look for this cache. Whilst happily hunting, a resident from the house came out and wanted to know what we were doing. He had seen several others mooching around his gate and with the water tank being right next to it he was most concerned. We eased his fears by explaining about geocaching and he looked with us and found the cache. We gave him the website for a better understanding and parted reasonable friends. Considering his apprehension perhaps he should have been informed when the cache was put in. TFTC
Visited Stonehenge - really interesting structure. Bit surprised that this cache is at someone’s gate - hard not to be noticed! TFTC
Day 2 of the Wellington Mega adventure with KJR and we are on our way to find and log a challenge cache series and this was on the way a nice and easy park and grab TFTC
In Wellington for the Mega. Day #2 of our geocaching adventure and off to Martinborough to find some challenge caches with Gadget169. Found this one along the way and loved the creepy looking house on the hill TFTC
Visited this one as it was just up the road from Stonehenge. The guided tour of Stonehenge is well worth the effort as the guide is so passionate about the henge and willing to answer so many questions. TFTC
After visiting Palliser Bay, Ngawi and the Cape, it's time to continue our travels... today to Masterton via Stonehenge Aotearoa, which was a "must-do" on this trip. Unfortunately ATEOTD I was somewhat underwhelmed by Stonehenge, but just had to get the cache to say "I was there". TFTC
We headed off to the Wairarapa today on a caching expedition - the terrific trio of haydn.seek, PJMacNZ and geodatum. Primarily we aimed to sign in for all the 100 and 250 per month Challenge series, but, of course, would collect as much else as we could along the way. We checked out about 75 caches and had very few failures. We left home at 6.30 am and returned at 9.30 pm. The weather was good - sunny and warm, if a little chilly in windy spots, and dry underfoot. We were good company and our team worked together efficiently. So, in all, a very successful day.
This is a good spot to view Stonehenge Aotearoa - geodatum have enjoyed taking part in both Winter Solstice and Summer Solstice ceremonies at this henge.
The old house across the way is most intriguing - what could have led to such a magnificent old home in its commanding position, being just abandoned to the elements?
The cache was easily found but it is at the gatepost of quite a new house - do the owners know about the cache? You feel quite awkward poking about at someone's gateway just metres from their house. TFTC

A serious geo caching day! Not so much about numbers but a dedicated pre planned set of caches covering a fairly large area and many of the caches were puzzle caches we had solved or had qualified for. . We travelled 400km, found about 70 caches and were out on the trail for 15hours, so it was a big serious day.
We left about 6.30am from Palmerston North and travelled thro to Masterton where were picked up out first puzzle cache. And then travelled down the back road towards martinborough locating the 100 and 250 caches for a month -our main objective!. We stopped at Kokotau reserve for a late morning tea cum lunch but the cache here eluded us even with three searchers and a double look before and again after lunch. We replaced several skindo caches along the route with either new containers or water proof logs as so often they were soaking wet. We side tracked up several side roads for caches and we visited Stonehenge on the way. and then headed into Martinborough to initally look for the cache in the town square which had stumped geodatum earlier. As always PJMacNZ solved the retrieval of this cache and we then headed to the pub for a much earned break and tea with Devonshire scones Yummy! We then continued on our way towards home locating other caches in Martin borough and then on the back route up to Greytown to locate the Cobblestone museum cache which I have searched for on numerous occasions. PJM was able to find the Virtual cache there which was a plus for him. By the time we left Masterton it was starting to darken so we gave away the idea of locating the newer Eketahuna caches. They will wait for another day!.
It was a great day and combined effort by all three of us. Thank you to my partners and the Cos for these caches. Lots of smiley faces and project GC points to boot!!

#4609. I had a day of leave available and with a great weather forecast, decided a numbers trip to the Wairarapa was on the cards. My mission today was to pick up more solved puzzle finals before any more get archived. Also to mop up a few traditional outliers that seem to have been missed on days doing big caching runs. Interesting neighbourhood with the creepy house up on the hill and the stone circle down the hill. Nice quick find here. Signed the log and returned the cache where found. Thanks for the cache skindo.

After wandering the back roads for a bit I and with still a lot more back roads to go, I thought I should probably get some fuel. So in to Carterton I go. Hey! Stone Hengy! Always wanted to visit this place! Nice view from GZ - I think the people in the local house are having breakfast, I hope they know of the cache. When I place a cache in view of a house, I let the people know and put that they are aware of the cache and that they are probably playing *Spot The Geocacher* in the cache description.
Stonehenge was disappointing. Looks like regular lumps of concrete. Makes it look more Greek than old English.
The old house is another matter - Betrayal at the House on the Hill is my favourite board game. That house reminds me of it.

On a 10 day holiday of the North Island of NZ visiting from Australia sl thanks for the cache. Checked out stone henge and also the mansion on the hill.
That was hard. Nearly gave up. Hubby finally got it after cutting his hand on a bit of wire. Love the haunted house. Tftc
The sun was in my eyes so didn't see much of Stonehenge. I was a bit nervous in getting the cache as it is at the driveway entrance of a nearby house.
Cheers for the cache.

Cool haunted house!! The post is right outside someone's house!? Not sure weather the house or cache was here first? Spotted the cache but also noticed someone inside the house watching us so didn't want to hang around as not sure if they know about the cache or not? Tftc
On a two-day trek in Southern Wairarapa. On my list - Skindo monthly challenge caches, then down to White Rock, and over to Cape Palliser (where I stayed the night in my trusty geo-vehicle, slightly cramped...). Thanks for the cache.
12.00. Read the shadow cast by the noon day sun at Stonehenge. Found the visit here fascinating and far more interesting than anticipated. The cache hunt was a bit of an anti climax after that but a find nevertheless. View from cache site across the Wairarapa plains was good too.

No stealth required to find the cache, as the house owner knows about it. Fantastic views over the Wairarapa Plain -would love to own the house. I must visit on the fine winter's day and see the mountains covered in snow -a fantastic site me thinks.
Great view. I hadn't realized that the Wairarapa Stonehenge was quite so close to the tumbledown old house at the top of the hill. TFTC

Now I know where the NZ Stonehenge is, have been to the one in England. That haunted house nearby is really weird! Curiosity got the better of me - there's some interesting reading and video clips on YouTube. TFTC skindo and for bringing me to this haunted house (which I didn't know about) and to Stonehenge. #7427
I have seen a similar circle in Oban in Scotland. Surprised to see this here. Might be a more stealthy find soon, when the house is completed.
Time to head home, Martinborough is a nice place to break the journey, with day trip to Riversdale Beach.
Thanks for the hide.

A dull old day but muggle free. Was nice to grab this before the house is completed and occupied.
A big caching day which started with Dawn Service in Masterton and ended with a night cache. Approx 80 caches in total while on the road with Pagenz. Thanks to all who placed caches for us to find.
Loved the house up on the hill, the daughter of the team would fall in love with this area as it would be beautiful to photograph. TFTC

Managed to wangle most of a weekend in the Wairarapa. Knew it was coming up for a while so had put in a bit of an effort solving some puzzles. Had a great couple of days and wound up with about 300 finds. Hardly scratched the surface really - I'll be back!
Hmm, a new house has been built next to this cache, and I mean right next to it. The owner popped over to see what I was doing and mentioned Telecom had been working there recently (the earth had been dug over). He was okay with leaving it there but but there is no longer any over on the cache, it might be worth moving it over the road or something as the view of Stonehenge is excellent. BTW paying the little extra for a Richard Hall talk at 11am Saturdays is worth it. He's got some interesting information as to how and why the thing was built and more. TFTC
After paying a visit to the henge, we had to pop up here for the cache. Although there was a ute parked here, with the door open, we did not spy anyone, so we went for the cache. Wonder if the owners of the house know why so many stop but don't visit!
The house being built right beside GZ is near completion but no workers on site so we quickly found and SL. Had visited Stonehenge years ago on a guided Sunday. Highly recommended. Today thought a quick wander on our own would be perfect and we were lucky to arrive during a power failure so managed exactly that. NINO TFTC

My mega NZ MEGA 2013 Trip!! Split into two halves - first, the journey up, and then the second half was the actual MEGA time.
This was the first half. I ended up deciding that the best way to travel up for the MEGA was by doing a rental relocation. Jucy had FAR too many cars in Chch that needed going to Auckland, and so with the pick of the crop I went for the 4WD... naturally, being a cacher, I knew this would come in handy!
They paid the vehicle on the ferry, paid the insurance, and gave me a free tank of gas as well as 5 days to get up to Auckland! What more could you want?!!
This was my 85th cache of the trip.
Today, the aim was numbers. I was aiming to beat my mum's best of 102 caches in a day mainly.
Started at 6am, since I'd camped out near a cache, and ended up back near the same location to sleep again at 10.30pm. Phew it was a long day, but I didn't even have any caffine and still managed the day easily!! Ended up with 119 caches at the end of it!! Hehehe. And all by myself doing all the caching and driving and log signing!
Looks like a new building is about to go up here though - hide my need to be changed!

Nabbed this one before our visit to Stonehenge on our drive back to Auckland. TFTC.
Quick find although don't know how long this cache will survive given the building works right beside the cache. Spooky old house across the road, and great view of the Stonehenge - TFTC !
