We are travelling to Kaikoura for the night. We're meant to be 4x4 into Clarence but canceled. Accommodation paid for and no refund so decided to cache on way here. Normally in motorhome so nice to stop and get some smiles. Thanks for the cache bumandworker
When planning potential cache stops for my journey from Christchurch to Picton today, I was looking at caches on the left side of the road so as to not have to possibly have to do right turns with traffic right behind me. As it turned out, this one would have been better done from the other direction but it did not end up being a problem. The place was deserted so I was able to make a quick and easy find.
We were supposed to do a whale watching trip today, but it got cancelled as the whales were outside the area. Instead we set off to find a few caches. A quick park and grab on our way north to Kaikoura. TFTC

Nice quick find here today. Cache is nice and dry but there was a scattering of litter at gz.TFTC
I was a little puzzled before approaching the area but it soon made sense and omce again care it required as it has been used for 'other' purposes . it was a quick locate, sign and replace . Travelling by car from the North Island and crossing on the ferry- perfect sailing ! thank you for this cache I took nothing and left nothing and all was well with the cache .
What a lovely rest area, yes you drive under the bridge if not above the 3.6m height restrictions. Motorhome camping on location and a cottage to rent.
During our roadtrip in New Zealand, we also found this cache. Thanks for hiding!
rahmschnitzel2704 and I could find this cache during our roadtrip through this beautiful country.
Thank you very much for hiding and maintaining this cache!

#12,465. After a fun week in Christchurch doing a lot of caching it was time today to drive north to Picton to catch the 6pm ferry. I decided to stop first at Cheviot for some lunch then do a few along the road from there to Kaikoura. I was wondering how to access this spot when I saw the underpass. Quick find at GZ but watch out as people have used this area as a toilet stop. Not the first to sign the logsheet today. Thanks b&w for the cache.
Summer Geocaching Road Trip - Day 1 - Christchurch to Picton. It's been a while since I've been off on a road trip and this one has been on the cards for quite a while. I plan to visit some parts of the country where I've done very little caching before and hope to complete the qualification for a challenge cache in Nelson. An interesting rest area. Looks fairly well maintained. Found the cache in the first place I checked. TFTC, Biggles.
Nice wee rest area. Quickly found here.

Cache in good condition. Interesting art work on the approach. Thanks for placing the cache
Having a milestone birthday this weekend, my aim was 50 caches. That was too much for one day so the 50 finds were spread over the celebratory weekend, 1/2 on my way South and 1/2 on my way North.
This was find number 29 and easy enough.

Having had a leisurely morning, watching the Roland Garros quarterfinal (go Nadal), we headed off towards Kaikoura.
A nice straight forward find. Thanks for putting this here

This is a really cool little spot, one I didn’t know was here, although I have noticed the sign many times driving past.
A quick find, the first of 3 on the way home to Marlborough.

Busy here but I got the shady space at gz so could sign the log hidden from view. Plus get a much needed cool drink in a hot day.
I have been making the trip to a place a little over the bridge and downstream about twice a year since autumn 2017 but never made the stop. Today we had the time. My GPSr played up so I shut it down and started it up again. While waiting for it to load up I used the phone which lead me into blackberries. Once the Garmin came to life again it was nice and easy to see where to go and and it was quickly located. Thanks for placing.
Last one for the day and another that we had had to bypass due to muggles. Plastic bag with log was found, so we checked our supplies and came up with a berroca tube for a new container. Replaced where found. tftc
Looooong boring drive to Blenheim. Ohhh I know, I'll do some caches. Nice and easy. Cheers.
Tidy little cache in a quiet, scenic area, easily missed. Very innovative seating area. Cache slightly damp but dried off and returned in situ. TFTC
Off on a road trip to Chch for the weekend. With limited time and raining on and off. We still managed to get in a bit of caching along the way. Down the East cost and back up the West cost was the plan but stormy weather put a stop to that. With no roads open to get home on we stopped in Kaikoura for an unplanned extra night. So thank you for for the caches you placed out there for us to find we had fun and frustration finding them along the way. Looking forward to the next trip to find the ones we missed. Apologies for the cut and paste.
Found with NZDi. It is Waitangi Weekend and NZDi decides she wants to spend a few days in Christchurch to do some retail therapy. A couple of our grandchildren have birthdays coming up and she can't find anything suitable in the local stores in Blenheim and is hoping the big city has a better selection. The plan is to travel south on Friday caching along SH 1, do the shopping on Saturday morning and cache out at the McLeans Island MTB park in the afternoon, then head home on Sunday with a detour to cache the K2R- Passchendaele Memorial Path between Kaiapoi and Rangiora (I guess that is what K2R stands for). Throughout the weekend we dated and signed our logs in full, as KM + ND or a combination of both depending on the room available on the sheet/book.
Today is day one of the trip and having pretty much cached out SH 1 between Blenheim and Kaikoura, our aim is to attempt to do the same between Kaikoura and Christchurch. This is our fourteenth cache of the day in our attempt to convert SH 1 between Blenheim and Christchurch from a trail of green into a trail of yellow. We followed another vehicle into the turn off but it turned out to be the nearby property owner who turned into his drive before GZ. At GZ it was a QEF PnG and like previous loggers have mentioned, the cache is still in a plastic bag, but there is no container and we didn't have anything suitable either.

Found the obvious spot it would be and looked under the preciously placed rock but no cache possibly muggled.
Today is our second day traveling the south island and the 22nd day of our travels south. We had spent the night at Lake Elterwater and drove down to Kaikoura after eating a nice breakfast. After visiting the lookout we drove to the start of the Kaikoura Peninsula walkway and chose to go to the top lookout platform first before heading onto the rocks to look for seals. We could not find any seals on the rocks but enjoyed the walk no the less. On our way back we stopped at the food trailer and ate some nice fish before stopping for another earthcache. Afterwards we started heading to our camp for the night but had some time to do a few roadside caches along the way. This was the fourth of them after it got dark. Tftc.

We left Feilding n.z nearly two weeks ago and went from picton to reefton over Arthur's pass which we really enjoyed then Christchurch for a couple of days to get a trail done and of course some other caches along the way so far we have managed to get over 300 caches a great effort we thought we would try and average 20 a day.
Now we are getting this cache a nice area to discover a cache stamped the log and placed it back where we found it thank you for placing a cache here and bringing us to this location. Cache is all good here tftc

Had to wade through a million leaves to find it! Well, not quite, but the autumn leaves were certainly doing their part to keep it well hidden! Tftc

On day two of our wonderful New Zealand trip we made our way from Christchurch towards Kaikoura with our Camper Van. Oztriaco and I stopped here because we thought here is a lookout but it was only a rest area. However, so we could get this cache. Thanks for the cache, and greetings from Austria.
*Day 2 of our fantastic trip*
While we made our way from Christchurch towards Kaikoura, blumen-wiese and I stopped at what we thought would be a picinic area including a nice lookout, but what was really only a rather ordinary rest area. Obviously we had read the sign on the highway incorrectly. But no matter, there was at least a cache to be found. So, thanks to the CO, and greetings from Austria.

Great spot to stop and cache! The logbook is very wet, tried to dry it a bit and could sign but definitely needs some tlc now. Tftc!
Heading south for a week in CHCH picking up a few caches whenever I felt like a 'drivers leg stretch'. After having been stuck for a good length of time further up the coast waiting at one of the stop/go locations thought I'd stop here and left the traffic thin out a bit. Easy and quick find. Log damp but still OK to accept my mark. Thanks for the hide and cache.
fonund the other week after a weekend in Blenheim .stopped here to let the slow cars get ahead so we could enjoy the road. Cheers
Many thanks to all the COs who helped make our geocaching holiday a great success
We left home early April and returned 21 May 2018. We toured from our home base up to a wedding in North Taranaki then carried on heading south right down through wellington and on down the west coast and back up via the eastern side of the alps some times going around in circles. Our aim was to get as many smiley faces on the puzzle caches that we had solved but of course stopping for many traditionals, multies and others as we went. some time we biked the bike trails or walked but mostly by campervan. we enjoyed the quite back country roads, many of them were metal but we just travelled along slowly going from cache to cache. Most caches were in good condition and I will remark if we thought it needs maintence etc.

Was going to stop here last time pre earthquake but with a tailgater behind me I didn't feel comfortable about pulling over, today it was very busy with holiday makers on their way home but able to pull over to let them pass before crossing in a gap. Easy find then not a car in sight as I pulled out again. Thanks bumandworker

Never knew this picnic area was here. Time for a quick stop on way home to Christchurch after making a delivery to Oaro. Traffic very light today due to road closure further north. Tftc
A half year ago we - McMuffin, Flitzpiepe, LE Surfy and I - started with the concrete plans for our holidays in New Zealand . The flights and the campervan were booked, the hotels in Auckland and Christchurch were selected and the route was planned . On 16.2.2017 we started our journey and arrived on 18.2.2017 in Auckland, a little bit tired, but very excited. The baggage was given in the hotel and we already went on sightseeing and seeking caches. Of course, we visited at the harbor, walked through the streets and had a look over Auckland from the top of the Skytower.
On 19.2.2017 started our campervan adventure . First we drove to Coromandel Peninsula. I like the Driving Creek Railway, the New Chum Beach and the Cathedral Cove very much.
Then we drove criss-cross the North Island. At first we visited Hobbiton, we saw the glowworm caves and stopped at the imposing Mount Taranaki .
The route took us back to the Tongariro National Park, to Lake Taupo and to Rotorua. The hot springs and geysers are really impressive. We also stopped at the Huka Falls. It was great .
The starry sky at the East Cape was phenomenal . Then we visited Gisborne and Napier.
Before we went to the South Island, we visited Wellington. The city is really beautiful but it is also the windiest city I have been.
Arrived on the South Island, our first destination was the Abel Tasman National Park. We walked along the Costal Walk .
We went onto Franz Josef Glacier by Heli. That was very cool .
We also visited Lake Hawea, Lake Wanaka, Queenstown and Te Anau. From here we started our day trip to Miford Sound. After a short stopover in Invercargill we visited many beautiful places in the Catlins - e.g. Slope Point, the Purakaunui Waterfalls or the Nugget Point [^]. In Dunedin we found a couple of old caches from the year 2000 and 2001 . Afterwards we marveled at the roly-poly Moeraki boulders.
After the Clay Cliffs, we had a look at Mount Cook. At Lake Tekapo we made a short break.
Kaikoura was one of our last goals. But whale watching was impossible because of the violently wind and the rainy weather. Unfortunately our boat trip was canceled.
On our way to Christchurch - our last goal - we found some caches.
Thanks for this cache and many greetings, Iliona

I came over to New Zealand to meet my son, who is staying now for more than five months on the other side of the world. Our intension is, to travel now for 4 weeks through this fantastic land and visiting a lot of fine spots on both islands.
Met in Auckland, our first trip led us to the Far North with some spectacular locations. It was a lot of driving, but we think, it was worth the result.
The second part of our travelling route led us to the south. Going via Hamilton with some fine locations, Hobbiton was an absolutely must of our "unexpected journey" . Went then to Tauranga with a hard upclimb to Mt. Maunganui, visited Rotorua to see lot of vulcanic activities, have had a lot of fun with Zorbing and Claybird shooting and drove then to Taupa, to doing Skydiving.
Here we go: Napier with it's beautiful Art Deco district and the great Aquarium was the next stop.
Final destination on the North Island was Wellington, were we visited some great places and met some friends from Germany.
After crossing Cook Strait now we will follow the east side of the southern island down to the most southern point of New Zealand.
Blenheim with its wine yards, fantastic dolphin watching in Kaikoura, the story of earthquake in Christchurch, following the famous coastline down to Dunedin with its beautiful and interesting places as well as the nice city of Invercargill were our main spots on this part of our journey.
Of course, even if it is not our main activity during this holidays, we will looking for some caches, which are laying beside our route.
So this cache was one of those, we've picked up.
Many thanks to bumandworker for this fine cache and best greetings from Germany.

Second day of Chelzea and I doing a weekend cache run through Hanmer to Blenheim through Molesworth Station, an overnight camp and then return along the main highway back to ChCh. A pretty intense weekend with over 120 caches found that most seem to blend together so reluctantly cut and paste logging. Had a great time finding many wonderful caches in a fair few cool spots worthy of the visit. Very few DNF's but will note anything interesting or wrong with individual caches. Thanks to all the cache owners.
Had to park strategically to avoid being seen by the nearby campervan/bus dwellers. Disturbed a slater nest, ewwwww. Got over it and signed, tftc.

One of 16 located on our stop-start drive from Christchurch to Kaikoura. After lunching at Cheviot and intending to drive from there to Kaikoura without stopping, found myself looking for another four caches en route. This was one of them. Relatively straightforward find after figuring out where to go. #958. TFTC.
Jumped out of the car and raced off in the direction the GPS was pointing. Arrived at cache just as hubby pulled up in the car. He'd seen me disappear and realised there was a road right to GZ. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
On the way from Christchurch to Kaikoura we made a stop here and found the cache. TFTC team4ms (Marko, Martina, Maximilian and Marie)
