#4170 Today is day 31 of my geocaching vacation in New Zealand. I was supposed to fly back to Taipei today, but there's a typhoon right on top of Taiwan. Instead of sitting at Auckland Airport, I'm flying to Palmerston North today and continuing my geocaching journey in North Island.I came to the park to find this highly rated geocache. I walked to GZ and spotted the cache right away. It fits perfectly, but just a bit out of the place. Since the CO kept emphasizing NO TOOLS, I tried to retrieve it using my own hands, but no luck. I started to doubt myself and reached out to CO to confirm my find and the type of container. I was at the right spot, looking at the right thing. Probably because I was too hungry and got no energy to get it off the host. I only had some snacks on the plane since breakfast this morning. It's close to the parking lot, so I went back to the car and grabbed my gloves. With gloves, I got the cache off in no time. Signed log and moved on... to a restaurant!Etherlord Clan, thank you for the cache! -crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan on October 31, 2024 @ 16:25:10[GC2KPGP] Serving Up Takaro (Manawatu) was a D3.0/T2.5 Micro Traditional Cache at the time of finding.
We were in Palmy getting parts for work, so we wanted to get some caches in Palmy at the sametime. We liked this one, Cacheclaws tried to nut it out, but it was too hard, Minecraft Lad nutted it out and we got the log. All good on sight. Thanks for Maintaining the cool container Etherlord Clan.

Dodging (or not) the downpours after work to grab a couple of caches on the way homeTapped into my superpower of overthinking on this one till I nutted it out Nice hide and log has about 10 gaps left. Mihi ki a koe, Etherlord, mo te keteroki #345
This was very cool and fun! Thank you for clarifying something, it made for a much better retrieval! TFTC!!
Heading to PN to attend an event with tmann421.Nice to be out caching again and watching tmann421 getting strongerAll quiet at GZ making the find easy (with some advise from the cache owner)Log signed tm/ww NZTFTC
#2729. Day 1 of a road trip to Morrinsville & back (to Wellington) to attend the 100th birthday party of a distant cousin. First stop was in Palmy to drop off an Austrian wwoofer girl who just happened to be celebrating her 19th birthday today. Happy Birthday Livia! After finishing off the Street of Churches AdLab, I came to this park as it was en route back to SH3. I had no trouble locating GZ but overthought the hide somewhat, before accessing the log. I had even PAF a previous finder, but in the end I worked it out myself!Tftc Etherlord Clan.
Stopped by tonight. Cache is in good order with plenty of room in the logbook
We came back with the big ,not big enough. Didn't need any tool after all. It's just a bit of a geocache experience.
Quick find with RRex03, we had previously tried to find this but was unsuccessful. RRex had found it earlier in the year.
Found while passing through Palmy en route to Waitarere for the weekend festivities. I'd looked for this cache previously, by torchlight after dark, and not been successful. Good to tick it off today. No issues. Tftc!
Another journey to the Manawatu from Kapiti with Flowerydaze hunting for caches. Lovely warm spring day for caching. Nice hide FP coming your way. All good here TFTC EtherLord
I spotted what I thought must be the cache relatively quickly, and saw a telltale sign! So I was surprised when my attempt to remove the cache ended in failure. Frustrated, I called Talla64 over, and yes, he retrieved the cache really easily - it was my technique.
Nice cache, I really liked it and am giving it a FP. Thank you Ginarley and Etherlord.

The EtherSprogs wanted to have a play this weekend at the "exercise park".
Who am I to disagree?
Cache is in good condition with plenty of lines left on the logbook.
Happy hunting!

Paddle Chick and I are halfway through a road trip primarily to complete the Viking, 20/20 and SHIELD series of geoart. Paddle Chick has leave but I'm still working early each morning and after we get back each night. But today I have hui to attend and so we are only caching together this morning and then I'll be full on working while Paddle Chick continues on her own this afternoon. First find of the day and what a brilliant hide! Well-deserved favourite. TFTC Ginarley and the Etherlords. TFTC # 20,055
Our first find for the day, it was in the first place I looked however it was too clever for us and after exhausting other places we went back for another look. Thanks for the cache Ginarley and EtherLords

It's day twenty-seven of this months Wheel of Challenges challenge, the streak, and today I needed to find a cache. So once again I got up at ridiculous o'clock and cached my way up to Palmerston North through the sub-zero winter temperatures, with very careful planning to make my arrival time coincide with the earliest of the possible publish times of the daily WoC series that is appearing there (and once again it appeared an hour later than I was hoping). I also drove around Palmerston chasing down a variety of caches that were on my todo list. This was one of them.
No problem finding the cache here, exactly where it was. An excellent hide.
---
Thanks to Ginarley and EtherLord for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.
[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.

Finally succeeded as this has been elusive, finally nutted this one out.
Found it where I'd looked before unsuccessfully.
Great cache cheers. TFTC.

I'm so happy. Mt first geocache by myself. ( normally do it with family) while waiting to pick kids up I had time yay!!!! So stoked with myself. Awesome find 10/10
Awesome Cache! Top 3 ways of hiding, took a hint from the cache Owner but finally succeeded. TFTC
*Catching up on some logging*
Miss 10 (UnicornLex) and I are staying with the Etherlord Clan over Waitangi Weekend. Today we are heading out for a spot of cache hunting. (What I mean to say is Etherlord is our own personal chauffeur around some interesting caches in Palmy).
While the GeoKids played at the playground I made a beeline for the cache. And what a clever one it is. Definitely gets a favourite from me.
Thanks for the cache.

Thought I had it on the first attempt, then confirmed by a friend. Went back, tried a bit lower and out came to log. TFTC, awesome hide.
I need one geocache for my 4th loop of 366-day finds. Having the occasion to be in town, this cache is it. This is one that previously eluded me due to my lack of strength, but I came prepared this time. All good here. TFTC
Great little cache. Had one attempt and got pretty closer all the right things in place. Messaged CO for a clue and got it straight away. Deserves a favorite point. Thanks.
Finally we can log a find. We have looked for a cache here several times. Thanks to the CO who has now placed the cache in a spot that should stand the test of time. It is well constructed and camouflaged as well. Well worth the stop today. Thanks for the placement Etherlord Clan
Well well I guess the saying "third time lucky" is true yes..finally nailed it..well not exactly nailed..not sure how many kilometres I have travelled to locate this one..but I am sure its in the triple digits This cache is an exact replica of one of my caches .. the only difference is the location and the structure a great camo and cache which should stand the test of time..many thanks Etherlord clan your engineering skills are appreciated
Another fun Etherlord cache. Found on first visit, but struggled to retrieve log. Better luck on second visit. In great working order. Many thanks for the cache.
I like this one a lot. Easy to find - if you need help you must have a screw loose!
Stopped by while out and about.
Cache is still in place and ready to be found

This has me stumped. I thought it looked easy with something out of place but no luck.
Maybe next time.

A nice clever wee cache CF found this one. Was with Crystal Fairy as we headed up to Palmerston North for a weekends caching. TFTC
Due to the postponement of the Auckland Mega, Buttels and the Crystal half decided to use the dates planned for the event to do some caching between Wellington and Palmy. Got to GZ as the sun was setting and spotted something that looked odd. Nothing doing we couldn't get anything out of it. Eventually PAF and after one word, we had the cache in hand. Very clever cache. Be careful as I think there is a "local" living not to far away from this location. Lots of things there, but no one around. Thanks for the cache
Took a while to nut this one, but the hint was good. Unfortunately cache is not watertight with 5mm of rusty water in it. Spent 10 mins in the gale and sun drying the log a little.

This one had been bugging me for a while. Looking at totally the wrong end of the track. Good to catch this cache while attending a CITO event. Tftc
Quickly spotted the boring hide, but next stage did our nuts in. Fortunately CO was nearby to give a hint! Thanks EtherLord, not seen one like that before.
Unable to find, looked in some very spidery looking holes.
Hoping it hasn't been washed away
Hoping it hasn't been washed away
Stopped by during my lunch break to check on this one.
Given it's location high on the back (just shy of track level), I am doubtful that it would have been washed away, and I was right.
The rock that had been covering the cache in it's cavern has been thrown into the waterway and is UPstream from GZ which is not possible if it had of been washed away... grrrr
Time to give this one a major re-think about how to muggle-proof it

Sadly another dnf x 4this would have to be the most difficult D1.5 I have ever attempted ...if I count all my visits to find this cache it would be in excess of 4000ks uhmmm. I maybe blind but nah
Popped out in between the rain to keep the streak going, now on day 103. The park was very quiet with only one muggle playing on the nearby tennis courts, so it was a quick easy find to get this recently replaced cache. TFTC
A nice quick find thanks.
Ms_KR and I are up in the lower North Island, fulfilling lots of items on our wish list. Today was drive to Wellington from Palmerston North. Traffic was a bit heavy due to the rain and slips but we made it OK.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

There's usually a good story or two behind a lot of the caches I find, and this one is no exception. I first spotted this cache more than a couple of years ago, when I had my eye on it as being potentially a 1000+ day find, but missed out on getting that. So when I did finally get to visit the re-enabled cache, it had gone bye-bye again. Jump to a few months later...same result.
I was beginning to wonder if I would ever find this cache, but I was able to spend some time over this weekend with the CO and his family, and unbeknownst to me he got this cache sorted out this afternoon and then surprised me with letting me know the updated co-ordinates. So on my way home this evening I dropped by to see if I could finally avenge this nemesis cache.
It was dark by the time I got to GZ, but there was no-one around so I was able to use torchlight to locate the cache. Fantastic! Finally the log has my name in it
Thank for taking care of this older cache.

I last looked for this cache a year ago, just before we went into Lockdown for the very first time. I hadn't made a point of looking for it since then, so tried this evening but ended up with the same result.
Judging by the string of DNFs, it might be time for a maintenance check?

Out on a weekend caching trip with Buttels with the aim of picking up the SHIELD and 20/20 series and mostly solved puzzles along the way. Found lots of potential spots, but no luck finding the cache. T4TC
One day I may be able to turn up and find this cache...searched with in a 10 meter radius .
All the trees have been well picked over...this my 3rd or 4 th go lol

Thank you for replacing this cache. Has been on my list to find for sometime. Another dot day down!
Stopped by today while out doing an errand during COVID-19 Alert Level 2.
Fortunately I came prepared with a replacement cache as it was needed.

No luck on this one today. May need to be checked by CO as it appears lots of muggle activity in the area
Found by hubby when out and about exploring another area of Palmerston North. Watched my father in law play championship bowls nearby. Cache all dry, signed log and replaced as found. Many muggles around playing basketball. TFTC

DNF today. We met a lady who goes alng cleaning up the stream every week. Potentially missing. Was very over grown today
The mossies won this one....looked every where but no luck...went back to basics and followed instructions as given and hint still no luck 3 x GPS and expanded search...still on find...and yes you are correct if its raining you will get wet...so soggy a deflated..eaten by mossies and empty handed gave up snd logged a dnf...I hates these with a passionassion
This cache was attempted as part of the Palmerston North leg of our "Road to 6,000" Extravaganza for 2016.
After a good start in PN, having a nightmare with finds and hence recording another DNF for us!

Parked in the nearby empty car park and headed for GZ. Took a while to find this one but find it I did. TNLNSL and left as found. Thanks for the placement Etherlord Clan & co.
This took longer than it should have! Over thinking had us too close to the water and grand cacher almost in the drink after slipping down the bank. Log book damp as it was out of the plastic bag. Replaced in bag and cache returned to its cute little home. Lots of muggles out today and grand cachet enjoyed a wee play with some new buddies.
Managed to get to this location before any muggles were around. At first I was well off the pace and a small hint from Marisa&Kaleb had me back on track and the cache was found logged and replaced. Not possible to get this after rainy weather without getting a bit wet lol. Onto the next one. TFTC
A few young muggles playing basketball on the courts but too wrapped up in the game to notice me. Quickly located the host and then the cache. TFTC
Woohoo! Yay for enthusiastic little people! Kid logic was to look in a nearby bush, with a worn-ish path leading them on - and then "wala" success! Book signed - cache received, and cache left! Happy hunting!!
There was only one car in the car park
And I'm sure they thought I was a bit weird Wondering into the bushes. Thanks for the very thorough clues otherwise I may have ended up
In the stream !

The hardest one to locate on today's walk....like many others I Initially looked at the 'watercourse' side of the path (which is where the GPS was pointing). After coming up blank, I re-read the previous logs and realised the error of my ways. TFTC, and another 656 meters accumulated towards the DGSC challenge.
