Loved this location, I enjoy seeing the old infrastructure we no longer use. Easy find
#21018 - 5:03:00 PM; Arrived in the Blue Mountains last night with the geohoney for a couple of days of R&R. After a spot of caching around Leura, we set off for the Norman Lindsay Gallery in Faulconbridge. We were rather disappointed to find that the cafe was closed as we had been planning a visit for a while. Oh well! As we set sail back towards Leura, via Springwood, I managed to collect a few caches, including this one. Parked just around the corner and headed back towards GZ. Took the easy way in and out. All in good order and replaced as found once I signed/stamped the log of the aptly named cache. TFTC pjmpjm
Found both caches, this intentional one where the title says. And the old sodden one as described by the previous cacher. Signed the new log, thanks! With TBs Canadian Flag and Swiss Duck in tow.
Came back today to find the real geocache which was located just before the one I found the other week. There is an old geocache in the tree trunk further which is definitely not it. Thanks for the great hide. TFTC
I'm not sure what to make of the last 'found' log for this cache. I visited it today and discovered that it's perfectly OK, not wet at all, and showing no signs of ever having been in bad shape. I wonder if the last finder was actually writing about another geocache. Anyhow, since I had brought along a new container and log book, I replaced the old, perfectly good container and log book, and will re-purpose it.
Having just checked on this cache, I've also reviewed the recent logs and see that some finders have reached GZ the hard way. I actually gave some good advice in my cache description but will repeat it here . . . **"Do not under any circumstances park on the Great Western Highway!** Park on nearby Scott Avenue and pull right off the road, as far as possible. The curb is rounded here, so you can drive right up on the grass quite easily. That's what I do, when I perfrom cache maintenance. From there it's only about a 75 metres walk to the turn off down to GZ. Watch your step on the steep slope down from the side of the GWH into the bush to GZ, especially if you try to locate this one after dark. This slope is the reason for the 2.5 terrain rating. But it really shouldn't be too difficult in the daylight, when you can see where you're going. **No need to bush-bash long distances. No need to go near anyone's house. There's a relatively clear slope from the side of the GWH down to GZ, maybe about 30 metres, if you're patient**."
Container was basically a sodden mess. Lid was left completely open and away from the container which left the log and container a sodden mess and full of bark and sticks. Good hiding spot though. TFTC
Bush wacked to the cache. I love it walked here along the highway from Mountain High Pies. TFTC
Lured by the purple haze to this easy cache find with surprising contents. OCW Brewmaker. TFTC pjmpjm
I've heard of fitting 4 elephants in a mini minor, but now I've seen one elephant in a cache. Interesting old sign. TFTC
Quick stop here, think I made quite a few of the local eight-legged residents a little upset.
Tftc. Tried this one in the dark the first time. 1 out of ten for night time. Found today though in daylight. Haha
A day out geocaching with The Booos in the Mountains
I found this cache while in the area today TFTC

No sign of a cache today although there was evidence of possibly an old cache of medium size
I just posted a DNF but further research indicates I was looking in the obvious(but wrong) place. I didn't think they were purple.
Ahhh name makes sense now! Easy find thanks for the cache. There was no log but a peice of paper about astrology… signed that and replaced. Found with Storeyteller .
I visited today and replaced the cache container and the log. I looked and looked and looked, but couldn't find the ancient cache container anywhere. So if you turned up something that looks like it's ten years old, and has no log book inside, you've found the wrong container!
We found the box, it has been muggled we are very sorry. Cache was open and contents spilled out and all wet. GeoDad placed lid back but everything was wet. Thanks for the fun location!
In the area for a big of time to stretch the legs and a quick find was made at this one
With cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for bringing me to the area and thanks for placing the cache pjmpjm

Easy little park and grab. The cache is in good condition, signed and replaced. TFTC
Second last gem needed for the Mystery at the Museum souvenir. Easy find.
Visiting NSW from Perth for a week on a family holiday. We flew in yesterday and jumped straight into the hire car and headed up to the Blue Mountains for a couple of days.
Headed out early this morning solo to grab a few caches in the high muggle zones. It was brisk but clear views prevailed and it was a marvellous way to end our time here in the BM.
Off to Sydney later, via Lane Cove for Australia’s oldest.
pjmpjm SVKR_WA found your cache Leura Old-Fashioned Purple Welcome today at 08:19:49 27 Jul 2019.
pjmpjm - Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment. We love travelling the state and visiting some places that we would only visit due to this game.

Out and about in the mountains this weekend, picking up a few caches on the travels! Thank you for the cache! : )
Geochae #100!!!! Nice simple find in a pretty area. Trackable taken. Found on a chemistry excursion with my son his friends and teacher. TFTC.
It is a lovely autumn day and I went for a bike ride and found this cache. All in good order. It was interesting that the Purple sign has a place for a flag. The sign is not what it used to be but there are others that are doing a good job welcoming visitors to Leura.
After parking off the GWH and a short bush walk frazeydaze and I soon spotted the pentagon tree and had the CIH. TFTC pjmpjm.
Be careful parking and crossing roads! Nice walk along the Great Western Highway in an area I never expected to walk. Easy find. TFTC pjmpjm
Find #1423
Back in Leura while my wife does the mall, gave us an hour to grab some more local caches. Weather has warmed up to 7 degrees and windy! I couldn't work out the reason for the cache name - it became apparent quickly at GZ. I was expecting rougher going to the cache for some reason.... was a pleasant surprise. TFTC - we dropped a TB off.

Getting away from 'The Big Smoke' for a few days on a birthday celebration and some geocaching. This was our second find of the day on our way into town and then on to the Fairmont Blue Mountains. Walking a bit further on from the sign and around, the path is not quite as steep, and we soon had the CIH. TNLN; SL - TFTC welcoming us to Leura !
I wouldn't have minded staying for a while longer to venture around, with Snickersallan
Love this little town with its great shops and scenery where a nice quick find with geobuddy was had. Thanks pjmpjm and TFTC
heading up into the mountains this morning I stopped nearby for a short stroll to GZ. A quick find was made at GZ, log signed and cache replaced as found. tftc

After parking nearby it was a short stroll to GZ where the cache was soon in hand.
Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

Sorry for the late log, life has been a little busy of late.
This cache was not where we expected it to be, but with a little searching it was found quickly. TFTC

Headed up to the Blue Mountains today on a maintenance visit to our aircraft Route Surveillance Radar installation at Mount Boyce (near Blackheath). Left home nice & early (at 5:25 am) to beat the Sydney peak hour traffic madness, and also to allow for plenty of caching time along the way. This was the 7th of 26 finds ( plus 2 DNF’s) for the day.
Parked the geomobile on the grass verge of Scott Avenue, as mentioned by the CO in the cache description, then walked up to the blue "Leura" sign. Initially thought that it may have been GZ, but the GPSr had other ideas and soon guided me to the true GZ for a quick find. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found.
I was intrigued by the big metal structure near GZ, which I assume was an old sign, but it's now buried deep in the bush and no longer visible from the highway. Was it the "old" Leura sign perhaps? TFTC pjmpjm.

Finding the feature mentioned in the hint meant the cache was very easy to find. Once the duties had been done all was put back and returned to its proper place. Thank you to pjmpjm for putting this cache into play. Then it was back to the geo mobile.
I've been avoiding this one as I thought terrain might be too steep for me. However armed with walking stick and husband found an easy way down and it was such an easy find after all. Very happy. TFTC
