Wow! What a brilliant spot for an earth cache! We sent our answers to the CO and then spent some time exploring. Thanks!
#7870Day One of our Southern NSW trip. Home > BegaAn early start today and were on the road, targetting whatever DTs, attributes and types we want. end of copy paste Cool area, walked around and looked for some more fossils after gathering our answers but couldnt find any more. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache 3l diesel
#7870We're on an LGA hunting road-trip, chasing bare LGAs from Shoalhaven to Wagga and beyond. Today we heading down to Bega, trying to squeeze in as many fun caches as we can into the long trip. Great weather - cool and dry.Great spot! The fossilised fence post was great, and fun to search for. Thanks for the cache!
Very cool beach location - it was neat getting to see the potential petrified wood as well as a lot of bivalve fossils in the stone!I found several more fossils near the cliff at:S 034 44.661'E 150 50.157'
Day 18 of our roadtrip in Australia. We're leaving Canberra today to drive to Sydney. Not the direct route though, as we want to visit the two oldest Earthcaches on the way, so we'll head east to the coast and then drive up the coast towards Sydney, stopping along the way for some caches or a National Park. Stopped here after two hours of driving for a short break. A lot of beach life here! Walked over to the fossil and did the measurements. Found a fossil close by at S34 44.652 and E150 50.143. Thanks and kind regards from Switzerland, Hinni&Simo
Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU. FP
Stopped by to make the observations on this earthcache while making our way northwards along the Coast Road from Melbourne to Sydney, sightseeing and finding caches along the way. Thanks for the interesting earthcache 3l diesel!
I stopped here for lunch on the way south. Busy place with peeps in the water and exploring the rocks. I spent a lot of time in Shoalhaven as a young adult and have long-time friends here. A bit more driving today followed by some beach Checked out the fossil at GZ, then went in search of another curio. Think I found a few embedded shells and noted the coords. Took a few pics and a selfie Dropping off a **fave** TFTC 3l diesel
After the New Year, we had the opportunity to spend over a week at the south coast. We enjoyed exploring and walking, along with a couple of good kayak paddles. We loved visiting the Rocky shoreline and exploring the rock-pools and fossils in various places. This was very interesting geology, and we spent some time in the area as well as having a swim in the nearby man-made pool. We have sent our answers to the CO, and say thank you to 3l diesel for highlighting the geology of this area.Domsky
This was a fun one to find - wasnt expecting the fossil to be that big! Eventually got the right line of sight for all the requirements. Thanks for bringing me here! TFTC!
Just getting ready to leave when we realized we were right on the cache. We waded in and explored our options.
Great location. A nice shell fossil can be seen at s34 44.568 e150 50.159. TFTC
Answers sent to Co. What a amazing place. On a such a beautiful day it was awesome to discover this.
Now on my way south from Sydney.
A fascinating place again! I was lucky with the tide.
Thanks for the cache.

Just a little while ago we Headed down the coast with my GeoChauffer for some time out, staying at Bawley Point again...
I am just now getting to log this cache as I lost my notebook with the answers to the cache I completed while down there, sorry guys...
The weather varied while there, some days were nice spring days others where terrible middle of the nastiest wintery days, like being in a blizzard , however the break was great.
There are some great cache down here including this one, they bring you to the coastline and show you what you have down here to play with.
Thanks for sharing this with us all...

Day 13 of our 2 week road trip south from Brisbane. After overcoming floods, a bogged car and vehicle electrical issues, we finally reached Canberra to spend a few days with relatives before continuing south for a loop around the Snowy Mountains. From there we headed towards Eden to commence the run north towards home following along the coastline.
I arrived here late afternoon and the tide wasn't exactly ideal, with the odd wave sending water gently cascading along the rock shelf every now and then. I dashed out towards GZ and after some circling around I spotted the main target. Just as I was about to take my measurements another wash of water was sent over the shelf. Wanting to avoid filling my hiking boots with water, I made a dash for lightly higher ground until the water drained away sufficiently. Upon returning to GZ I lost track of the item I had been looking at and had to spend some more time tracking it down again under a shallow covering of water.
With the measurements taken I then went on the hunt for some more fossils which were quickly found and ducked back onto the beach to avoid another wash of water. TFTC

Good learning exercise for how to spot fossils with my friend and I. I’ve never looked so intensely at the ground before.
Wooden fence post looking fossil was definitely super cool!

Another fascinating fossils site and interesting info to go with it. I think there was a spreading of ashes ceremony going on so could not wander far without intruding. Nevertheless fun to find a few other fossils and see others enjoying a swim on a perfect day. TFTC
Down at the coast for a few days. Geopartner wanted to see the pool and I wanted to collect the Earthcache - perfect. Details sent to CO.
A very happy geohound waited for my return. TFTC 3I diesel

Would never have discovered that so thanks ! And was awesome finding some smaller fossils around too
It was our first Earth Cache so we realised after finding it that the fossil itself was the actual cache! When you find it it’s exactly as described. Fun and interesting. Thanks!
Not too sure if I have ever seen a fossil of a fence post before, but it's certainly unique and different to the other fossil's you see showcased in the EC's along the east coast of Australia! A rare find and very worthy of it's own cache! The location is also spectacular with the sea pool nearby, it was a busy day with it being such beautiful weather! I took my measurements and have sent them to the CO, before I started hunting around for anymore evidence of a fossil! Found an interesting example which I hope is ok, it was the most eye-catching one I found!
Thanks 3l diesel!

Had a very happy morning visiting Gerringong. Took the opportunity to enjoy a burger at the beach and to check out the Fossil Fence Post earth cache. Went round in circles a bit and then found the fence post and took some measurements.
Also found a shell fossil or two and took a photo of one of them.
CO clearance granted. Thank you for pointing out this cool fossil and awesome location.
Cheers

The seas were calm today and it was also close to low tide. A very flat rock platform. The main item was found and we then searched for other fossils. It took a few minutes to find anything suitable. Then, as our eyes adjusted, we continued to find more. A nice area to visit. TFTC
What a pleasant walk around the rock platform. Weather was a bit cold for a swim but it didn’t stop some people. TFTC
On our way back from the Queensland Outback Geo Muster we decided to head down the coast for a change. With so many caches along here we thought we would concentrate on Earth and Virtual caches as time was short.
We had a great time visiting some fantastic locations, and this was one of them.
We collected the information required including finding some fossils.
Our answers have been sent off to the CO.
If they are not good enough we will happily delete our log.
Many thanks 3l diesel for bringing us to this fantastic location, a favorite point from us.

Walked out on to the rock platform and located what I believe is the "fossil fence post". Submitted answers and photos of other nearby fossils to CO. Then went to look for Mick Cronin's pub.
Arrived at Appin yesterday for the OZGM Mega event. Today we are doing a round trip via Bowral, Fitzroy Falls and Kangaroo Valley to explore new territory for us. What spectacular scenery!
We targeted this cache on the round trip back, because it looked really interesting. It was a cold wet day, but there we gre plenty of surfers catching some waves, and even a couple of swimmers in the pool.
We found the required feature, then enjoyed pottering around to see if we could find any fossils. Answers sent.

A little side step in the morning. Unfortunately a little too cold for a swim. Although, a tough lady went in the rock pool. Respect!

Pretty cool fossil. Would never have found it or known where to look without the earth cache. tftc.
We were there at 4:22 PM in the company of &others.
After setting up camp at the nearby caravan park, we headed out to do a bit of shopping and to find a couple of caches. This EC was just down the road and with a lovely glow from the setting sun we looked around took some measurements and then went exploring - lovely spot.
Thanks 3l diesel.

Thanks for this interesting Earthcache, 31 diesel. I was relieved to find my tape measure tucked away in a corner of my bag .
I have spent the last 2 nights staying in Kiama; it’s never long enough! I came down here this morning before returning to Sydney. A lovely coastline and some lovely bays.
Other fossils, of shells, nearby.

**The Earth Cache**
I love Earth Caches and none better than with a gorgeous location. Found GZ no problems. Interesting Earth Cache I might say, not the usual type. It's great to be able to study the various Earth Caches within a 150 km radius and compare them and the information, very fascinating and informative. We were blessed the tide was out on our arrival here today. We had a lovely time here. SproutOne splashed around in the water holes, and SproutTwo almost followed suit. A couple of times slipping and ending up taking a bath, poor lil darlin. Both fully clothed I might add.
**The Day**
I've had the best day (again). Went to a Zimbabwe event this morning at church to enjoy some awesome singing and dancing and then headed off to pick up a new cache before heading down Jamberoo Pass to finish collecting the Kiama Suburbs series that I had been forced to abandon a little back. The weather was perfect and we really enjoyed our explorations. Went off to Bombo Beach and enjoyed some time there also doing an Earth Cache and looking at the rock table while the kids do what kids do.

This was an interesting earthcache with a different kind of fossil as the feature.
Answers to the questions were sent to the CO who replied that it was OK to log the find. Another fossil ws found in the cliff at S 34 44.660 E 150 50.159. Many thanks to 31 diesel for creating this earthcache and taking us to a different part of the coast to see something new (or old really).

Tuesday 12 September 2017 - a beautiful warm sunny Spring day in the low 20s travelling from Wollongong to Nowra on MuggleHusband's brief and unplanned 2.5 day holiday up the coast from Canberra - home Wednesday. Found 6 from 6 caches (4 EarthCache in Lake Illawara/Shellharbour, Bombo, Kiama, Gerringong, + 2 trads in Bomba) walking up to 10kms around the shorelines today.
We arrived at GZ at low tide late afternoon. Took a little while to find and establish that we had the correct geological feature, and took even longer searching for fossils without great results as light was fading. Thx MuggleHusband. TFTEC 3l_diesel.
14/9/17 - received permission from CO to log cache.

DieFraudiemitmuss, Lundi263, Murri24 and I made this year a very great tour together. Our first target is Melbourne. So we started early in the morning to visit the city and to make a few geocaches. We found very nice locations and interesting spots. One day we rent a car. Very early in the morning we drive from Melbourne City over Geelong to the Great Ocean Road. Along this road we found so much interesting spots, we see a great landscape, and had have not enough time for sightseeing. The weather was fine but a little bit windy. This day was very long and hard, but wonderful.
After that we visit the Grampians. A little bit rain, a little bit windy and a little bit sunny day, we had fasten all weathers. We visit waterfalls, canyons, sandstone fomations and any Look Outs. Puhhh, what a great landscape.
The next part of our journey is to explore the Outback. From Ayers Rock we take a car and drive over Kings Canyon and many other Look Outs to Alice Springs. We visit any very interesting Caches and had a great time by comfortable temperature.
Now we drive from Melbourne over Canberra, Batemans Bay, Wollongong, Blue Mountains and Sydney. We want to see so much as possible of this part of Australia. Today we started in early in Batemans Bay. We drive along the coastline and visit any Earthcaches. So we saw any nice beaches and romantic places. Once more we visit great locations.
This Cache was one of my favorite Caches, wich I would visit in Australia. Thank you very much for showing. This theme was very interesting. I have learned a lot over the australian geology.

Together with Team "GER-17" (consisting of murri24, der Eifelaner & dieFraudiemitmuss and me) I was able to find this Cache while going up the NSW coast with a rental car.
Such a lovely part of the coast! So many beautiful beaches!
I'll definitely have to come back and spend more time on each of them!
Thanks a lot for this Cache!
The answers were already sent by der Eifelaner and are hopefully ok.

Enjoyed our time exploring a part of the country that we hadn't been to before. Hubby needed to spend a few days in Sydney for work so we met up and made a long weekend of it down south. The weather was pretty wild at times but it didn't stop us having fun. Found this cache and had to do some creative measuring.

I love the rock shelves along this part of the coast so it was fun to go looking for a fossil on the rock platform
In Kangaroo Valley for a week long holiday with the family. Today we decided to drive to Kiama to escape the heat on the beach. We then drove along the coast and I explored this cache. Another interesting earth cache in this beautiful part of Australia. Thanks 3l diesel.
On a road trip as far down as Merimbula from the central coast this weekend for some gigs. Decided to drive down myself rather than be piled in with four others + all our gear ..and so I have left early to make a good day of it by caching along the way. I have chosen a handful of NON park-n-grabs to break up this trip, this earth cache being #2 of 12 I have planned for the w/e.
We were holidaying in Kiama about 2 months back and were struck by the rugged but beautiful coastline here with its many points and small islands and rocky formations. Similar to that of the central coast but ours has more cliffs. Knowing I'd be driving back past today I wanted to make it out to this one which we missed recently. I have arrived here at midday and it is quite windy and very hot (high 30's on the coast). A number of folks taking advantage of the nearby pool. I would have had a dip myself but I have more caches to claim lol. A very unique fossil indeed! I found a few others about the place (see pic). TFTC, 3l diesel.

Found the Fence Post visited this site with sam an tab....we really enjoyed our visit here.the rock pool looked very tempting today but didnt go in.alot of muggles come here to cool off and i dont blame em,this place is a good spot for a dip and no one seemed to worry about me measuring the rock platform with a tape measure.
A location worth visiting again.thanks 3l diesel for the earchcache!!

I wandered around the the nearby trad enjoying the various fossils etc along the way but was defeated at GZ by a muggle who was far too intent on me going somewhere else. Still a very nice location.
On a few days holiday with W.E.E.O on our way to his home town of Nowra we stopped on the way to do this Earthcache. What a really fascinating reef, complete with swimming pool, not something that you would find in New Zealand, where we are from. We found the fossil fence post and we scoured the reef for some time before we found more fossils. Mrs S also scared away a few crabs running around the rocks.
Poking around on reef's is a favourite pastime at home so we enjoyed the opportunity to do it here. Permission granted from the CO to log.
Thanks 31 diesel. Gets a FAV from us.
