As we started this multi the sky started spitting at us but decided to give it a go as it was warm. First wp did not match the description looked around but eventually sent a message to the co. He kindly called back and quickly set us straight. We walked around calculating the WP's. Finally got the last wp as the rain got harder. Yes right in the rotunda a dry search. Searched and searched. What's going on. Rechecked and realised one number wrong. Quickly got back on track and had the well hidden cache in hand. Tftc and the hint

Great history lesson. .beautiful location great hide..TFTC..found with KazyT..nothing taken nothing left. .

29-May-16
Aaaaaagh we got stuck looking at waypoint 2

06-Feb-16
We thought this might be a straightforward find but our we must have misinterpreted the instructions and we had an issue with are we looking for a container or information at one point. Anyway we eventually found all the waypoints and ended up at GZ. The search for the actual container also took us longer than it should have and we were a little wary of bees disappearing into a couple of holes. But we finally found it and were able to sign the log. TFTC

06-Feb-16
On my previous visit to this cemetery, I'd got stuck at WP2 for some reason and had to give up. I'm not sure why since today I found the container hidden there straight away, searching exactly the same area as last time. Anyway, smooth sailing from there on. While the weather was hot today, it wasn't overpowering and most of the waypoints were under or close to a tree providing shade, making the journey quite pleasant. At GZ it probably took me 5 minutes before I spotted the well-hidden container. Interestingly somebody had signed the log earlier the same day so we almost crossed paths but not quite! Thanks for the journey and the cache billywillysillydilly!

19-Jan-16
I'm out this way each fortnight so was pleased when i had all the information to get the co ords for GZ and was able to call by grab the cache today. First time to this area for me.
all good at GZ.
Thanks billywillysillydilly , for the this informative multi.

06-Jan-16
This was a fantastic journey. My Muggle Mum and I had a great time discovering the history of the district.

Initial coordinates changed to S 36° 43.734 E 144° 17.822 this will take you directly to Major Moorehead's memorial.

The old coordinates were to a sign nearby the main entrance, however, this stage was removed several years ago due to council maintenance.

Apologies to all those who have had trouble due to me not amending the cache correctly (and well done to those who were cluey enough to go to the prominent memorial).

13-Sep-15
What a great day here in Bendigo for cash today

13-Sep-15
Well, this cache has taken over 4 1/2 years to complete. I got to WP4 last time but dissapointingly an item was missing. I have been back to Bendigo several times since but for some reason never to this cache. And it has changed too, but by a bit of ingenuity I was able to figure out the missing piece and at GZ today the cache was a quick find. Al last!

12-Sep-15
After having a great time at the 2 months to the Mega event we headed off with Alansee to try our luck at a few local caches.
Alansee had started this one a few years back but the last piece of info was missing, today he had what he needed and we were just along for the ride.
The cache was found quickly and our names are now in the log.
Many thanks billywillysillydilly for the cache.

14-Aug-15
We enjoyed walking around and learning about Bendigos history. The 1st wpt was way off but by reading previous logs we soon figured this out and with the cache details, we soon knew were we had to be. TFTC

In Bendigo for the Bendigo on the hop and decided to take a walk around today. Interesting wander through the open cemetery on a cool but nice day. TNLN TFTC

First weigh point was far off coordinates. Once found all other weigh points and clues easily located and gz. After a lengthy stroll found, and quick look had cache in hand. Tftc.

First way point was off. Had to back track to see owner of cache had written the coords down. This then led us straight to robert.
Great cache thanks

14-Feb-15
Very interesting about history - with some help. Signed the log. Thanks billywillysillydilly

15-Nov-14
Like "lokipagan 8.6.2014"we had difficulty with the initial co -ords and had to resort to finding the largest monument. From then on it was plain sailing. We later read the CO's comments about the co -ords and to us it appears the numbers he is using are not those listed. Apart from this it is a great cache with terrific history. Thanks billywillysillydilly.

02-Nov-14
Finally found it after second attempted.
Was so excited when I retrieved the cache's hiding place.
Enjoy wandering around Bendigo interesting Pioneer Class.
Thanks billywillysillydilly for bring me here and cache.

30-Oct-14
Finishing this cache has been a priority for me since starting this one some time ago. I really felt a sense of achievement finishing this interesting multi. Thanks for the cache bwsd and for fixing the WP so well. Thanks too to the cacher who left the ball point pen at the most prominent point - I have left it (concealed) there - it may help the next cacher at that WP.

29-Oct-14
It was a good morning to do this today, later on it would have been much too hot, but it was okay doing it early.
What an interesting way to educate us about the different classes of people all buried here.
Thanks for the sociology lesson and the cache

23-Aug-14
We found this today while visiting Bendigo for the weekend. Caching with McLookers. Thanks for this cache, cool cache, cool swaps.

23-Aug-14
In preparation for our weekend trip to Bendigo, we had earmarked this cache as we have previously driven past this cemetery a few times. We made our way to the listed co-ordinates. We were not able to locate the mentioned grave or monument. Luckily we were able to call the CO. Not being locals, we were not familiar with the particular grave/monument but the CO kindly explained where we would be able to find it. From then on, we had no trouble at any other waypoints. We really enjoyed the tour of the cemetery and learning about the early pioneers of this area. The cache at GZ contained excellent swaps and is in great condition. Thanks billywillysillydilly for being available when we called and for this very interesting multi. Caching today with Tomstache.

I checked the listed co-ordinates today, (S: 36.43.734 E: 144.17.822), these take me to Major Moorhead's gravesite (which is the largest in the cemetery, opposite side to the main cemetery entrance).

I am unsure why there have been two geocachers state that the co-ordinates don't take them to Major Moorhead.

Thanks to o.kay for the email. I'll have this one fixed in the next two days

Why procrastinate. Nothing like a night visit to a cemetery. The problem with wpt one is fixed. Ready to be found.

08-Jun-14
The listing had us rather confused - coords will take you to Mjr Moorehead's grave, huh[?] Once we figured out this was not the case we spotted Moorehead's grave by the largest monument and headed towards it. On the way we passed something that would make a very suitable WP3. Sure enough once we calculated WP4 we knew we were on the right track. Worked out our answers and off to find the cache, or so we thought. Coords put us in the middle of the road and although we looked at the nearest suitable spots, no container appeared. We didn't want to disturb any of the graves and decided to call it after a lengthy search. Maybe next time we are back this way.

Out hunting night caches thought we would have a go at a scary one just to top of the night with trusty torches in hand off we went collecting the required info to get us to the cache and being careful not to wake anyone we found it and signed log and snuck off into the night TFTC

I gave Tamzy a buzz to come help find On my second attempt and reading recent logs. Found first, second and third points quickly, then silly me mucked up on co ords which had us heading across the rd. we soon realised something was wrong so worked threw numbers again, put them in GPS and found the cache. Was a good day for a stroll. These type of caches would have to be my fav so far. TFTC

19-Apr-13
Had three hours sleep after working night duty and couldn't resist the offer from Curl69 to come along for the find! A few small miss calculations along the trip but found the nice sized container in the end! This cache has been on my to do list for a long time and I finally completed it TFTC!!!

Liked the location. I have been meaning to get back to do this. Interesting history here. Thanks

# 2902. Robmc and I were visiting The Morris this weekend and today we visited many different areas of Bendigo with a total of 30 successes by the end of the day.

This was the first for the morning and I was pleased to find one here as I had admired the Cemetery when driving past the previous day. I do enjoy visiting old cemeteries as they are such historic places. This one certainly has a magnificent entrance. So much to see here and a lot of gold-mining history here too I am sure. We walked the walk, gathering the waypoints along the way and back out through the beautiful gates we went to find GZ. TFTC

24-Feb-13
A day's caching in Bendigo with half of The Morris (someone has to do some work!), and Bettyboo3747.
A nice stroll around the cemetery looking for small containers, and reading all the information.
Our counting wasn't so good at No.4 and we searched for a while for the container, before looking at the plaque.
An interesting name for the Missionary, I wouldn't have guessed it!
Thanks, Robmc.

13-Feb-13
Ooooh !! Yeeah !! An olde cemetery to wander around Razz
There's nothing like poking around these places to wake up the history of an area Smile
Cache notes read and I headed up the hill to the 'biggest monument' Big Grin
Pretty obvious !!
And so was the waypoints hiding spot after only three laps of the monument Red Face
I should have stood back a bit on the first lap !!
Off to the next waypoint and another tricky, but obvious waypoint !!
Plaque read Big Grin
Missionary found Smile
OK!! Off to GZ....... a nice easy find after only 10 minutes of looking and overlooking the well hidden cache [^]

TFTC, the history and the fun !!
Favourite time Big Grin

04-Feb-13
Even with some help we failed to find WP1. Noticed there was a relatively new sign in the area close to WP1 but not sure if this was significant.

Thanks to BillGosse for advising of a problem. All fixed now, and ready to go.

I've had trouble with the first wpt disappearing, so now, this cache is one wpt less. First wpt is at the largest monument in the cemetery.

16-Dec-12
# 433 - while this one is fairly close to home, we'd always avoided it because it was a multi, but it was only tonight we realised it was a cemetery cache! We love these! This one was great, it's so interesting to learn about our past - both recent and not so. Thanks for putting effort into a terrific cache, a favourite from us billywillysillydilly

26-Oct-12
WP1 was very wet so replaced the cliplock bag. This cache hunt tied together some info we had discovered at the Joss House where we were intrigued by the Chinese history of Bendigo, finally got all the clues sorted after a miscount of the WP's (ageing brain wasn't functioning) and found the GZ just as it started to rain.

30-Sep-12
Suscoe arrived late morning to tackle this multi.
Made our way around with no problems, co-ords spot on today but the GPS was being contrary.
Located the cache quickly and signed.
Thanks to billywillysillydilly for bringing us here, well done.

Found with ronnienash at night. Tried to be inconspicuous at night though I don't know how successful we were. Thanks for the cache.

28-Aug-12
found it with T.Q.Q. and stooy. it was such a nice day and we needed to do a quick cache befor picking up geokid so this one was close by. it was good to have a walk around this area.

28-Aug-12
It was a great arvo for a walk in the sun. We only just finished this one while waiting to pick up the geokid before we heard the school bell nearby. Thanks for a well thought out cache

28-Aug-12
Lots of fun. I have meant to do this one for a while now, always putting it off cos it's a "long Multi" (such a lousy excuse i know~!) but today we had an extra 30mins while waiting to pick up the geokid from her school nearby, so off we went.
A lot of work has gone into this cache, Thanks billywillysillydilly, I really enjoyed the walk around to the different waypoints, there is so much here you don't see from the road.
A favorite from me Smile

Wpt one replaced

All fixed. Come and get me.

Passed by today and noticed that the smaller painted item has been reassembled, but not the larger.

13-Aug-12
Found by Mary & David at 1515. This cache turned into something of marathon today, and towards the end we made it more difficult than we needed to. Arriving at GZ we found the likely spot for WP1 had been partially dismantled and repainted (the paint was still sticky in places). No sign of any container there. After studying the description, we took an educated guess where WP2 might be and headed off to look there. Luckily we found the container there and we were back on the trail again. WP3 fell without problems, but at the next spot we misunderstood the sequence of the WPs and thought we were looking for another container. Our mistake! We studied the description again and tried to deduce some possible names for the Missionary that might satisfy the final equation. We came up with 3 or 4 and checked where the results would be on the map. We were left with one likely spot, so off we went again. This spot was in a grassy area, but there were some likely hiding spots not far away. Found the cache in the second one we checked - very lucky! Turned out our guessed name was only off by one digit when decoded. Mary really enjoyed the location as she loves exploring graveyard architecture and the symbolism and social history evident in the monuments, headstones and epitaphs. Our thanks to billywillysillydilly.

I'll check this out in the next few days. Apparently some painting has taken place at the first wpt, thus the container could be gone. Thanks for the call Mary & David.

17-Feb-12
2nd time lucky tftc

Cache is all fine to be found again.

Thanks for reporting the maintenance required.

Second wpt has been replaced with a less attractive container. Sorry kids.

All fixed. Come and find me.

Cache is all fine to be found.

Second container was missing. This has been replaced with a less attractive container. Sorry Kids.

Disabled until I get a chance to check the wpt. There should be 3 containers to find, then two questions..then the cache.

the first place i looked was empty so spent 30 minutes looking before phoning the toonies.they verified my first thought that waypoint 2 had been muggled no sign of snakes or lizards

Was a little trickery, wt3 we were looking for something but we only required info, fine from there. Added something creepy. Smile TFTC.

01-Jan-12
3rd find for the day for the Crazy Creels who decided to do this one under the cover (coolness) of darkness. CREEEEPY!! Well we are Crazy after all, but who would've thought there would be so much traffic through this place at night time?? P-platers racing through, people tending graves and others just seeming to be driving around the cemetery. Anyway we enjoyed our wander around and made the finds easily. We like your thinking Smile TNLNSL TFTC billywillysillydilly

Searched to no avail a couple of days ago. Got stuck at the "Women" stage - could not find the coordinate container. I was using paperless geocaching but had not updated for a few weeks. Thinking I must have done something wrong, I hopped on the net only to discover there was indeed some maintenance!! With new info on hand, I was able to quickly retrieve the cache. Thanks billywillysillydilly. Great adventure!

Maintenance completed a few days ago.

All is now fine.

Has been amended due to muggles. 3 Containers to find, then 2 simple questions to answers that will lead you to the cache.

We had trouble locating the information at the "Women In The Goldfields" wp, so PAF was used to establish that the wp information has been muggled. CO might like to consider replacement or redesign of wp.

We began the hierarchical journey with the Major, then called on some folks buried in 1855. Despite scratches and broken fingernails we couldn't conquer the Women In The Goldfields. Using the PAF lifeline and some geo transposition skills we were able to locate a well stocked cache at GZ.

TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt billywillysillydilly.

Arrived at the first waypoint early this morning. Enjoyed the walk around the graves collecting all the waypoints, there were a few muggles about, but no one ever asks questions in a cemetery and I soon had the cache in hand. Enjoyed the history lesson. Took the time to have a look a a few old headstones, fairy old place. Nicely constructed cache.

I enjoy looking around old cemetries to learn the history of the area. Although it is often a very somber lesson.
Thanks to billywillysillydilly for this fine cache. Took snake left batteries.

Very interesting stroll around, so much history on the headstones

20-Mar-11
Nice find with the easts and TiedyeSmileys, love exploring the cemetery

20-Mar-11
Enjoyed the stroll around the cemetery with other caching family members but then thought we may have to postpone it near the end as there was a muggle paying his respects near the WP. Luckily this was the WP where we didn't have to actually find anything, so we could continue on.

#1150 @ 11.30am. The Queen conned Dad into this cache, unintentionally, as we initially thought that this offset cache only had 2 stops - oops wrong! Nevertheless we had started and decided to continue as we found ourselves zigzagging our way around this fascinating place. Enjoyed finding the co-ords at each WP (the sneaky critters Wink) and then ultimately the cache and looking at some of the impressive POI's along the way. TNLNSL TFTC billywillysillydilly - lovely area [^]

07-Mar-11
I was not able to get up here for the event and just as well it seems.
To tell you the truth time was short today and I probably wouldn't have
stopped here if I noticed it was a 6 part multi.
However I thought I'd do 1 or 2 WP's and finish later.
Actually I found this cache most amusing and continued all the way to the finish.
Lovely historic site and a well put together multi
Thanks

Alansee was correct...the container had been removed. This has now been replaced. The cache is findable again. Thanks Alansee for bringing this to my attention.

27-Feb-11
DNF Looked for this one at the Event weekend. WPs 1, 2 and 3 went well, but all fell apart at wp4. I searched high and low twice, but no luck. It is unfortunate when this happens well into a multi! I tried to phone a previous finder to no avail. No one else has logged it this weekend either.

13-Feb-11
What a great cache showing an area of Bendigo's history that (and Geo-son, Geo-Nan & Geo-Grandad) would never have otherwise seen. Thank you for bringing us here - turns out that Geo-Grandad has a real knack for geocaching - spotting hides from a distance. Well done Grandad! Thanks BillyWillySillyDilly - your hides are most enjoyed by Geo-son Big Grin and the effort you put into them is fantastic! Cheers Whit's Wanderers P.S - We have taken Fred the TB for the next leg of his adventure

after a couple of appearances due to time, gave cleaners, at the site I finally got to finish.. nice multi.. liked the 4wp most had to look twice. cheers.

24-Jan-11
Found this one, our sixth for the day, at 6pm with Rosie and her Rosebuds. We had fun with this one! Quite an interesting tour and some ingenious hides, the girls were delighted! Rosie had to dump the pram and elbow them out of the way to actually score a find! RB3 was first horrified and then intrigued. We struck trouble with number 4 and had to retrace our steps. We were still scratching our heads when someone came up with the idea of of reading the instructions! SL Took:traffic lights and white car. Left: Chinese monetary note and squeezed in TB Fredy the hound. TFTC bwsd! PS. Lots of baby hoppers in all sections!

Found as the day cooled and before the storm and dark beat us. Had a couple of confusing moments - we thought the posted co-ords would have us at the first monument and we knew where that was. The other moment was when we realised there was 2 different numbers of wpts in the cache page (guess it depends how you count them). Great to finally see a cemetery cache in Bendigo. TFTC

6.15am
Found by Roma and Max.
It was with considerable de ja vu that we returned to this historical cemetery area to geo search, having maintained our Peppercorn Place cache for some 5 years, located just over the road, but unfortunately now archived due to vandalism, and having found a Morris cache nearby as well also now no longer available due we believe to progress within its early stages!
We thoroughly enjoyed zig zagging to find each one of your wpts quickly becoming aware that a surprise awaited us at each well hidden point!
Thank you billywillysillydilly for maintaining a geo interest in this historically significant site.
Romax.

When I was at TAFE we were given a project of mapping this graveyard and linking it to a database. I wouldve never guessed I'd be back here with a GPS looking for a geocache. Had fun, enjoyed the way you hid the WP's. TFTC
