DNF at 12:51:32 PM. We found a group of pumice stones at the given location and then as we dug a little deeper there was a rotting nappy that came to the surface - so we retreated and said that we had had enough.

Whilst we're not a tipp'n it's a miss'n, the debris and rubbish in the locality made us think twice about the serious looking needed for a D2.
We did enjoy viewing the reason for bringing us here but sadly hides such as this do absolutely nothing positive for the image of geocaching.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt Spadey&sons.

There's been a lot of water through this site lately, I suspect it's no longer there.

Indeed the logrol is missing. Just an empty box... maybe a bit of maintenance... TFTC and greetings from Holland.

Scrabbled about in the flax with no luck and getting stabbed by the prickles then took a step back and bingo the cache was ours! I'm sure the taniwha giggled at our silliness!
Great place for a cache with magic view of the lake. Managed to grab the cache and complete the log before the taniwha spotted us TFTC.

Found along with Dani3104 while on holiday in NZ!
Great spot on a miserable day.

Nice cache to get me down to the lake. Didn't use the bench for contemplation because the wind was howling.
The novice whose "bach" is nearby was the first to find. and yes, we saw the hen and chicks too though the chick is nearly hen sized now. Good hide and position. Thanks.

Team Malodo found this stash, while we traveling from Auckland to Palmerston N.
Thank you for this nice place.

Staying nearby so walked also to this one. Nice to be by the lake. Lovely spot. +TB Private Quackie. SL. TFTC.
Love the artwork - what a great way to beautify something so utilitain! Hate flax hides, but this one was made easy. Thanks
Checked out the hole in the rocks on our way north this evening. Love the taniwha! Thanks for showing us. Very windy today - the shores of the lake look like a surf beach!

Quick find on the way back to the nearby holiday park. Kids took the opportunity to collect some pummice rocks while I found the cache. TFTC
#2537. Quick find among many muggles enjoying the beach and swim today. Stealth required, but not too difficult with camera in hand with the taniwha nearby. TNLNSL. TFTC.
lake was so calm and beautiful today. the taniwha adds to the interest of the area, nice site. TFTC
A small group of young muggles having lots of fun in the water, but the Taniwha protected me: I found the cache as I hid behind him. Added yellow neck string.
Was on my way north to Auckland and decided that I would do a few caches along the route north. Arriving near GZ I was able to find a car-park at the start of the walkway to GZ and it was a quick walk to the cache. Arriving at GZ I managed to find the cache quickly, as we as some dame muggles rubbish in the flax bush, you have got to love the thought that some people are just so lazy that they cant even take their rubbish with them. What a nice spot for a cache really enjoyed the nearby sculpture and it was a great day to come and visit the lake, another great little spot and thanks for bringing me here and placing a cache here, TFTC TNLNSL (3525)
What a great view of the lake. Here with Goldielover tonight. She can't believe all the pumice stones lying around. We have to pay heaps for them in the shops in Brisbane. TFTC
Quick find as the sun was setting. I couldn't believe all the pumice stones just lying around on the beach. There are none on the beaches in Australia All we have on our beaches is seaweed There were some ducks enjoying the view also. TFTC
Brilliant spot for a cache. GPS directed us past the spot but then backtracked using the hint and found it easily enough. Nice spot here when the prevailing wind isn't howling in! TFTC

Came back for another go at this one as it was gone the last time, quickly located this time, thanks for replacing it.

Find #783. The 11th of 15 finds for the day travelling to Auckland for a caching expedition. The mediocre rain and cloud that had bugged us up to arriving in Turangi was essentially gone, replaced with blue sky and high cloud - when the sun did come out it warmed up rather quickly to say the least!
A quick find at a nice spot with good views and a vantage point across the Taupo puddle. A very easy find that all geocachers will quickly recognize! No muggle issues, only one walking along the beach in the distance. Good spot. SL TFTC.

There was a muggle near GZ but he left once he noticed us. Had to dodge a muggle doing the lawns but the cache was easy to find.
Awesome place!! Love the Taniwha - once we read the clue was a nice easy find TFTC
Spent some time searching in the dark and rain, the spotted the clue.

Quite different to the hole in the rock (Bay of Islands). Loved the guardian at the rocks.
Found with the help of my 6 year old grandson, Marty. We really enjoyed finding the Taniwha and then the cache. TFTC
Beautiful spot, even on a very rough and windy day. Our youngest cacher loved the taniwha! Took TB.
Neat spot to come down to the lake - although it was crashing on the shore today with a wind behind it - tftc. Much nicer spot then Mill rd where i didn't even get out of my car
Greetings from wimbledon, london. A cold and blustery day! We are staying a very short stroll away at the family bach and i thought i'd try out a few nz caches! TNLN
7146 Nice spot for a cacheā¦ must have just missed psychrn, soon spotted the nicely stacked pile of pumice rocks, TFTC.

Quick and easy - My Daughter did not believe me when I told her there was a Taniwha there, but after the visit she is now convinced that this is where his cave is! TFTC
Just down beach from our stay in Taupo for the long weekend. Beautiful spot as the sun goes down, watching all the boats fishing offshore. Like the Taniwha too. TFTC
4.45pm - Last cache for the day plus another to take off the WL. Quick find as the sun was setting. SL>TFTC

An impressive taniwha, and although the type of hiding place doesn't inspire us, it was relatively easy to find. TFTC
fitzy_1965 and I visited NZ over the Easter Long Weekend on a caching run. We were here in early January this year for a holiday and a caching run. Then I won Business Class return flights to Auckland on Emirates (the flight was awesome by the way) so we're back!
We met the owners at the last cache, and now we're meeting the Grandad of the kids, lovely to see it's all in the family and thanks for the pointer!

A quick find right on dark. Loved the taniwha. Left a pet rock - a blue whale. TFTC
We have replaced the cache and moved it by 2 metres as the last one was washed away by a flood.
Come and check it out!
