Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there we had been staying in Cromwell but were moving on we are heading towards the coast, but decided wed call past St Bathans & try a nab a couple of caches on the way through , parked up nearby and had done the Traditional & the Earthcache at the Blue Lake, we decided wed walk down to the cemetery & do that cache before heading back to our vehicle we soon had the cache in hand, logbook completed & safely returned to its position then we had a wander around the cemetery, looking at the headstones, wondering hard it midst have been to have up-stakes from the old country (whichever one it was) & moved to the other side of the world were also pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:LS this was #6,621 for us!
Here in the south with FMZ for the Dunedin mega this weekend. We thought wed get some much needed R&R in Queenstown first, but it of course caching along the way. Our coordinates were jumping around but cache was still quickly found, thanks to a fairly obvious location. Some interesting graves were sighted. TFTC
Quick find at this historic little cemetery on our way out of St Bathans. Heading for Queenstown. TFTC!
Nice find here lots of cows and sheep to greet us signed the log placed back where found cache all good here tftc
I hadnt been here before despite visiting the lakes and the Vulcan plenty of times. What a peaceful resting place Coordinates were a little off but the hint was helpful without leading us directly to the GZ. TFTC
We enjoy visiting photogenic old cemeteries like this one in Central Otago. The container was found after widening my search a little. Thanks erninz for bringing us here to this peaceful spot.
Follow the clue, not the co-ordinates. Possibly the original clue has deteriorated with age, but a neighbour works.
Thanks for the cache! Second attempt up here to find it. Coordinates were out but reading some of the other comments directed us to it.
Nice cemetery. Found the cache eventually with the hint, possibly a bit too close to a plot and about 36m out according to my GPS. TFTC!!
The girls loved the beehive in the tree right inside the gate - they had escaped from the nearby hives. We found the cache, not at the coordinates- but further to the left, where we found the grave we were after. TFTC
My coords were off, but eventually found the cross to the left... widened search to find the box, ro the right.
Tftc. Tricky find with little internet connection. Hint was deceiving but found eventually
Some interesting history here. Rather a lovely rainbow as it was starting to rain. I made the coordinates .400,.977 TFTC.
AliGle and I were doing a bit of a tour around the south of the South Island in a Jucy Camper over a few weeks. Day 2 was driving from St Bathans to Oamaru, through Central Otago. Followed the co-ordinates at first, but then followed our noses to the correct spot. An interesting old cemetery, TFTC!
With Vistra on holiday in the South Island. Picked up our camper in Queenstown and tootling around bagging geocaches as we go. Fascinating history here and a peaceful place. The coordinates were a bit out but read a few of the logs and this helped us find the right place.
We are on a 3 day 4x4 trip and overnight here. After setting up camp we came to this cache. Great views from here and really interesting. Nice clay pipes in the distance. Had fun finding this cache thanks erninz.
Hives were nearby, but there was a nest or swarm of bees just inside the gate on the tree, so we decided to leave it
Quick park and find on a lovely damp geocaching day. Lovely place for the final rest.
Never been here before, so enjoying the travels.

It been a long time since I have been to St Bathans and my last trip thought here was for work as I work for a local ag contractors and have been past here many time in a truck , tractors or just a car so it was great to get back here and see how the area has changed or not so much which is great to see .not a swimming day at the lake as it cold and I'm not that brave .
So thanks for a bir of a historylessonand the encouragementto re visit the area and so I will be back as I miss this area its so beautiful all year long.
Found with Annielin MrandMrsFraggle
Getting out and about in to the out doors is my happy place so any excuse to go caching.
Life is short. Live one foot step at a time.Never say" I'm gonna "- Just do it!!
Thanks for the hide

Out on a trip down memory lane for DSI and a first time visit for AnnieLin. We had a lot of fun and laughter and slips along with learning more about our local area history. Great day had by all
A lovely restful spot. Got wet feet locating GZ due to a gentle rain happening

Spending the weekend in Naseby and getting a few caches after having a few busy weeks at work. Needing a break!! We used to come up here a lot when the kids were little. One of my favourite places in the world. So peaceful and quiet. Decided to take a wee trip out to St Bathans as we haven’t been there for many years. TFTC.
It took us a while to locate this as the coords were leading to a place that didn’t fit with the hint, and when we finally located the hint object, our GPS was reading about 15m. Perhaps we hadn’t entered the coords correctly. Anyway, found it eventually and managed to get back to our vehicle just before the rain arrived. TFTC erninz and for bringing us to this place.
These old cemetaries are always interesting to visit. Co-ordinates 10m out.

Following the history of the area it seemed very appreciate to collect this cache. The history board is very interesting (the young woman who is suppose to haunt the Vulcan is recorded as drown rather than strangled)
Biked in from Cambrians while Mrs Wilby was meeting a client. Didn’t take too long to find after reading previous logs. Tftc
With Judith Richards. Yes it’s about 10 meters away from gps coordinates great history.
Took a bit of a hunt, gps had me about 10m away, thanks.
Found on a wee break over Waitangi weekend. It is a bit cool for this time of year!!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Found with wombat1234, there's an old coffin close by a bit creepy! thanks for showing us this place would never have known it existed tftc
Unfortunately we couldn't locate this one, gorgeous spot but think the cache may have gone. Theres only so much searching around a grave you can do! Hope it gets checked on:) thanks
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on day 7 of our extended Easter break. This is our last day in Central Otago before leaving for Dunedin tomorrow, so a trip to St Bathans was planned, via the scenic route of course .
One of quite a few cemeteries we have visited during our holiday, and all interesting places. TFTC.

#17039. Interesting how many cemeteries offer good views for the "residents". Quick find here. TFTC.
Out for a back road run to St Bathans with my baby boy and his family on his 50th birthday. An excellent spot for the dog to stretch its legs too.
What an interesting place. I would never have gone there if it wasn't for the cache. Thanks.
For my personal challenge of working towards getting my calendar on GC.COM to be at least the same shade of green or darker I need to sign off at least 12 caches today. I won't grumble if I find one or two more. I started at first light as it was forecasted that rain would start late morning and I needed to get my required number.
I found a couple of the items in the title. Finally found the cache under some stones 11m away from my GPS' GZ.
Cheers for the cache.

Time for a few caches today in the rain while travelling back to Invercargill

Staying at Ranfurly it was time to do some touristy things plus a little geocaching of course. After losing blood to the trees defending the cache location I lost interest in looking further for this cache.
In Alexandra for the Easter holiday long weekend. Heading to St Bathans for a look around - it's been a while. What a fantastic bit of history. Loved it. We quite like a good cemetery cache - with some history. A bit of a distance form the township - would have been a bit of a procession with horse & cart?.....cool spot., Cheers.
Thanks last cache for me today. Nine finds and two not found all off the main road. A good way to spend a few hours. And a half marathon run this morning at McArthur Ridge Vineyard.
A great day all in all.
A great day all in all.
Nearing the end of our days caching, good excuse to call into the Vulcan Hotel for a cold beer. Tftc
Editing now that close family funeral over.
Must come back to this cemetery to check for family that may or may not be residing here. Meanwhile Ruru_NZ made the find. Must say I don't think I would want to be caught short here with the view from the outhouse.

Day 2 of my Oamaru GeoFest week. Alexandra to Naseby today. Only about an hour ... Without stopping!
While KCN checked out a possible relative I made the find. 11m from where she wanted and 3m from where I was showing. Got a little attacked by the fresh prickly growth, so be prepared.
This is more peaceful than the Peaceful Rest just down the road.
Interesting to read more about the movement of souls from the Cambrian cemetery to here.
Picked up TB, will take to Oamaru and find some hairdressers.
Thanks for the smilie.

Couldn't get past the gate as there was a huge bull who wanted to have a go at us lol maybe next time.
Decided to head off to the St Bathans market day and make it a day of caching as well. These places often have a great view. TFTC
We wondered where we were going as the road seemed to be taking us through a farmers paddock infested with rabbits but we were pleasantly surprised to come across this peaceful cemetery. Finding the right cross and then the cache took a bit of fossicking but we got there in the end. Found with AorakiSheep.
This one took us longer to find as others have mentioned, the co-ords seem to be out and thanks to a previous log, we eventually got there.
The co-ords we used S44 52.405 E169 47.979

15.10: On the way from Wanaka to Naseby. Once again: the subject told us all. And it was much more of help than the given coordinates: not too precise. Anyway: interesting visit at the cemetery of St. Bathans and the rabbits make it a fairly vivid place!
Weather: sun, almost cloudless sky, 22°C;
Wheelchair: possible, ascent the to cache, some effort required;
State: all good.
IN & OUT: nothing.
Thank you!

Gave it a short try, but then didn't really feel comfortable rummaging around a cemetery. Still glad we stopped by.
Made up for last week's fiasco today with a very successful foray to St Batman's and Cambrian
A lot of family history in these parts
A lot of old friends resting here
Well ... we spotted the old rugged cross right away but the GPS took us somewhere completely different causing a LONG spell of over thinking
In the end we went with spidey senses rather than technology and found it !
I'm wondering if the given coordinates are off?

Glad of the shade in his wee corner. Surprisingly busy when we arrived with two cars in the car park already. Easy find although GPS was pointing 17m to right. TFTC
After watching the all blacks win the world cup, my muggle friends and I were buzzing and as it was a nice day we decided to go to St Bathans via the pig route as a fun road trip to get some sun and take advantage of this long day.
After driving through the gates closed for the cattle, hoping we were not tresspassing we got the cemetry. Unfortunatley after a good hunt around from both sides no sign of any cache. The bees held me off from looking high up .... maybe another day.
