Checked up on this today. Cache appears to be gone. Archiving as we feel this cache has had its time.
Had a bit of a look but no sign of the cache. Suspect it's buried under dead flax leaves or its been taken
Took a look for around 10 minutes, but I couldn’t find the cache anywhere.
Lots of rubbish here, which is too bad since there is a rubbish bin barely 10 meters away.

Sadly could not find this cache.so went up the hill to the monument and discovered there was a cache nearby.Found that one. Came back down hill had another look for this cache still could not find it.
Out and about so decided to look for this cache. Quickly found and there was some water in the bottom so I drained it.
*Found on a nice day going from cache to cache with woolwood9.*
We soon had the container located. SL: **tm/ww NZ**

Not often you find such a large container. We have never been in this area before so we are enjoying the experience. Thanks for the cache kryshan
Went to have a look for this one after visiting the TMGT cache nearby. Found after a short search, the cache was not where the coordinates were taking me. Signed log, TFTC.
#9035. I came down this road to pick up the nearby TMGT cache but decided to do this one first. It been raining on and off all day and the shrubbery was dripping wet which didn't make looking for the cache much fun. I also noticed very quickly that there are lots of flax bushes in the vicinity and the hint therefore doesn't exactly narrow down the finding options. But the large container is sure helpful. Well I spent about 5 minutes pulling back wet branches and flax stems all around GZ and widening the search a bit. Eventually spied the cache. The hint still applies but the flax is disappearing in that area. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Thanks kryshan for hiding it here.
24 January 2021 15:31. Number 9139. How on earth did I miss this one last time? Found quickly today in the company of Ethness. Tftc
A most interesting place to visit. I did not know the history of this place. Having a short trip from Invercargill to Christchurch with Infoferret finding lots of caches, in particular the TMGT caches for me.
The cache may be signed with our individual names or ‘IE’.
Many TFTC.

Heading home today. Called by to collect the nearby TMGT cache.
Rude not to find this one in passing.
Ugh. There’s more than one flax bush and my GPS didn’t take me to the right one so it took a while. The good sized container helped.

#19005. Troodles wasn't hopeful we'd find this one (given the last log was a DNF) but we decided to look anyway, and Troodles found it right away. TFTC.
StreetWalkerNZ and I were on the road heading north before 8am to try and beat the forecasted rain. It caught up with us as we approached Gore , but luckily it only lasted an hour or so.
As we parked nearby to find the nearby TMGT, we decided to look for this cache as well, despite the last log being a DNF. Once in the right place, the cache was a quick find. There were other recent names in the logbook that have yet to log online. TFTC.

As we were parked here we figured we might as well make another find. Unfortunately it might have been washed away we there was no luck here for us today.
Quick find here on a detour to get the geo tour cache on my way to Invercargill. Tftc
I just got into the camper after going up the hill and noticed there was a cache right here. Whoops, get out and find this one then off we go. Cheers
Well sometimes things just don’t work out as planned. Due to the current circumstances, what was going to be a leisurely five day trip south with my wife turned into a truncated solo visit. I set of early this morning to walk to the airport to get my rental car. After finding the TMGT cache up the hill I looked for this one. soon spotted it. TFTC
Day Two Of Our Journey to South Island With Squirrel Nutcase
The huge rain falls that had arrived a couple of days ago have now passed. Amazed as to how quickly the area has dried out.
On one DNF today due to the cache been washed away by the high river levels.
Another good day, thanks to cache placements and successfully arrived in Dunedin tonight.
Thanks to all the Cache Owners for these placements.

With Fap and Gap... Late last year, we started to plan for a trip to the South Island - The goal was to complete the TMGT trail.
Invercargill - Dunedin: We worried that access to the Tuturau Reserve might be flood affected. Would we be able to visit the nearby TMGT hide? Our BOP Teammates assured us that the area was high and dry - no need for any serious wet weather gear... We had no problem finding this hide - The resident TB was cool, so we took it. Thanks kryshan and TFTC.

On a caching weekend to Otago and Southland with Tuolei to pick up old caches, TMGT's, CANZ, solved puzzles and any others that caught our eye along the way. We had a 4 day long weekend planned that would take us around Dunedin on the first day, Tuatapere via Sutton, Balcutha, Mataura and Winton on the second day, Tokanui via Riverton, Invercargill and Bluff on the third day and then back to Dunedin via the Catlins on the last day. Overall we did 1578km and picked up just under 100 caches and managed to knock off most of the caches we had on our list.
On the day before our trip this area was in the news as there was substantial flood around and it seemed it may be cutoff and washed out - this cache in-particular. It was great to hear 2 days later that the roads were open and other cachers had been here earlier indicating all was okay, and even though the river was still looking quite high it was well below this point.
While I found the cache Tuolei did his animal welfare bit for the day and fed the inquisitive rooster the was hanging the area. No problems here, TFTC.

Out and about on day one of Bennett24 and my holiday to the south to look for interesting caches including oldies, solved puzzles, geotour caches, and interesting types. We are heading south from Middlemarch to Tuatapere today - quite a drive - and stopping off to get a few caches on the way to break up the trip. Important stop here to get the TMGT cache up the hill.
Took a short walk across to GZ and Bennett24 found the cache - I was a bit more interested in feeding a poor, lonely rooster a cookie - looks like he's missed out on a few meals lately.
Thanks for the cache.

On a road trip down south Mainly getting TMGTs and high favourites. Having lots of fun and seeing lots of places. Thanks to all the COs for some great caches TFTC. Amazing what a sunny day can do. All good here
On a road trip down south with the mates , primarily targeting TMGTs and high faves.
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these cache. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

On a mi ssion in the south island with a few of the team from the BOP grabbing the TMGT caches and a few older caches along the way.
A bit off damage from flooding through town all good getting to the cache site.

Jude-E and I are on a geocaching trip to the deep south. Instead of driving down from Christchurch we decided to get a cheap flight down. Thanks kryshan for placing this geocache 7998 find for me.
Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.

Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. Thanks for hiding this geocache.

Day 2 of a 3 day caching venture with Nosynel. We have a few goals in mind, especially the TMGT caches and Bluff Hill. Last one before we climb the hill to the monument. Nice quick find. Thanks!

After finding the TMGT cache up the hill we saw this one was nearby.
After poking our heads into a few wrong spots we soon located the correct one.
A nice sized cache in an interesting historic location. Thanks kryshan.

A quick trip south today with i-gotit to find the Southland caches for the GeoTour. We had thought we could get to Tuturau with no stops - but, how wrong we were !
Anyway, here we are. We parked close to this cache & found it before walking up the hill to the Memorial. Thanks for this cache, kryshan.

On a day trip to Southland with kotukuSI to pick up the southern Geo Tour caches. This cache was conveniently close to where we were parked so we sussed it out before continuing up the hill for the TMGT cache. Nice size container.
For the second time recently we had planned a few days in Southland but the strong winds further south changed our minds for now, we will be back though. The area is rich in my family history and it's time to revisit. Instead we are having a day caching around this wider area before heading over to the West Coast and home again.
This was a quick find of a decent size container before we wandered up the road to find our last South Island TMGT cache.
Thank you kryshan.

We parked up here to go for the TMTG cache up the hill but were happy to start with the by-catch. With the trend for smaller and smaller containers it was a pleasure to see something a bit more substantial for a change. Thank you kryshan
Found this with fmz after the cache up the hill. I like learning about historical spots like this! Thanks!
A bit damp inside but not bad. Found after visiting the tmgt cache up the hill. TFTC
A 5:30am start to the day trucking down toward Gore to erect a silo, then had to pick up an old Ute on the way back... after a wee bit of a drive the loads strops always get a check over before continuing and today was in a place with a cache so a Win win situation! I had found the cache taken a pic and back in the truck before the the strops were all tightened and back on our journey homeward bound. TFTC
We found this after our walk up to the memorial. The outer bucket had a good amount of water in it, so got rid of the water and dried it out. It will get more water in at some stage as the lid is cracked in a number of places. The contents of the inner bucket are dry at the moment.
+ a marble, - nothing.

Out on a roadtrip with minion one on a mission to undertake some maintenance of some caches down in Gore. We took a bit of a long route there and home which led to some fun surprises.
Good thing came along as bucket was in access road with some rude words on cover. Cleaned up discarded tide text and put back where I was searching. Good thing minion one was there hey Nat is it a bucket container like this one. Lol.
======== NZ Mega 2020 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
20 years of geocaching worldwide.
20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of this event - you won't want to miss it!

Pleased to find this without too much hunting. I was keen to walk up to the monument and it started off well but we got beaten by a bit of bog, having left the wellies in the car. Interesting reading on Google. Tftc
A quick and easy find. Track was a bit muddy to head up to the monument today. Cheers
Easter holidays, and a road trip to Milford Sound. Today we drove around Southland: Winton, Gore and Invercargill, with lovely weather for the day, and lovely Southland countryside.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

We are on our summer holiday driving around the South Island with no real idea of where we will end up each day. We are often drawn to an area that has the potential to give us a few geocaching smilies and somewhere we have not spent time exploring before. In some cases we are revisiting placed that we have been before but liked so much we are going there again.
GK found this one where I had already looked, oops.
Interesting bit of history here too.
Thank you for placing the cache and thank you for the smiley

Big bucket in well hidden spot. Tftc we had a break here and nice to see a cache. All in good order, outer bucket had some water but log very dry. Tftc
**On safari - tracking down hidden creature trophy heads to hang in the hunting lodge gallery.***Bucket had a crack in the lid and shipped water. Previously bag changes had dealt with the conditions; today brought over a new inner cache to help preserve the logbook and swag. Keep the big paperclip in place for the loose logbook pages.*___Found 27 Oct 15 A good place to get off the road, searched around hint bush combo's, there were a few to choose from, pulling out bottles and tins just before a muggle and her dog drove up. Since she looked to be hanging around for a while - offered her a cuppa and a chat until she left. Cache discovered in timely fashion. A bit wet. Freshened swaps and re-hid. The sopping wet SBHS cap came home for a launder before donating to the hospice. Dday TFTC
A quick find on a chilly Autumn day A road trip to Gore required a bit of caching!

A quick park and got to gz and soon had cache in hand sl and returned on our way to gore for a day of training and caching. Tftc
Traveling home to Invers from the Oamaru geofest, we thought we would do a small detour to grab this cache. Quite fitting, as we traveled north to the event a couple days ago, our first cache for the weekend was also found in Mataura.
After we got through the 5 plastic bags, we signed the log and replaced minus a couple of unnecessary bags. A few cars about today, some fisherman nearby.
Hunted but no luck. Its raining, its dark and after 20mins I am cold to the bone so had to give up.
From Mataura we are heading for Wyndham so we stopped at this small historical reserve along the way. Despite its size, the cache took a bit of finding, but find it we did. Thanks.
Cache had a bit of water in but the goods were well wrapped in strong bags. I SL and returned to hide. Walked to the monument and took in the view of the valley. Thanks for bringing me here fore the cache.
We started geocaching on 01 January 2016 and we are on a trip, going back where it all started, planning on 500 caches for the year.
A lone white chicken was guarding this cache. She didn't hang around to tell us where to find it though. A bit of searching and we soon were signing the log.

Found on our way down South to Bluff for the weekend. A quick detour once at Mataura and an easy find. TFTC
